New collection of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 glitches

Posted by Jonathan 'Catalyst' Grey • March 7, 2011 at 3:07 p.m. PST
Readers have submitted a handful of new glitches in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The first one, captured by ReNiC, goes by really quickly as Spencer decides to leave.

GadZeuX posted what he called the 'No opponent glitch', this is his explanation of what went down.

I activated [Zero's] Sougenmu (Shadow Clone) and did a snap-back on C. Viper while Taskmaster's assist was still on the screen, C.Viper went off-screen while my combo continued on Taskmaster, Taskmaster recovered and jumped off-screen and this is what happened.

Victv1 uploaded footage of She-Hulk's Road Rage hyper messing up, as Thor slides under the car and away from the action.

It's funny that some of you think the game should be rated higher or deserve the 8/10. This game is 6-7/10. That's a lot of glitches. Imagine if that happened at tourneys lmao. I can't believe this is the product we get after ten years; two years in development.

i cant talk bad about the gameplay of mvc3. everyday i regret buying the limited edition a litl more. no dlc characters like they promisd, no spectator mode, less characters than ssf4, and all these glitches. its unbelevabl. i think its bs. is anyone else on my side? extremely disapointing.

mvc2 had a lot of glitches too people i guess forgot about those. ruby heart freeze the game glitch, gambit fly off the screen glitch, etc

It is a 6-7 very incomplete. I would even go as far to say this game was just a big donation towards the SFxTK and TKxSF. Gotta have the little extra marketing money right?

There's some charge move shenanigans that are made possible by "stickless sticks" as they're called on here.

DFW Jay recorded a video of me demonstrating some of the stuff at Bar Fights III on Saturday, I would bet the video will be going up soon.

@11 There are dlc characters, jill valentine and shuma gorath come out march 15th.

#16
TheSquirrelMaster said on March 7, 2011 at 4:15 p.m.

@16 yeah but the point of the limited edition was to get the characters before everybody els. they were meant to be avalabl when it came out but capcom had technical difficulties. theyv been slackin.

#17
NovaManXP said on March 7, 2011 at 4:24 p.m.

@11 Less characters than SSFIV? Unless you're talking about the AE characters, SSFIV has 35... MvC3 currently has 36.

FroggyMan77 said on March 7, 2011 at 4:27 p.m.

Umm, no. They weren't supposed to be out early.

From an earlier EventHubs article:

"It was made official this morning that users who purchase the special edition of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for $69.99 will be able to download two playable DLC Characters — Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine, FOUR WEEKS AFTER THE TITLE IS LAUNCHED."

Everyone gets them on the same date. You just already paid for them.

#20
JustIceRei said on March 7, 2011 at 4:29 p.m.

No, the point of the limited edition was to get the characters without having to pay for them separately. It wasn't a VIP thing.

oh if the glitch was exacutable. Spencer would become the newbies favorite character.

#31
Lavama said on March 7, 2011 at 5:51 p.m.

What Suppi said. If you guys keep complaining, how about you just SHUT. UP. AND STOP BUYING THE GAMES.

It's getting annoying. EVERY POST HAVING TO DO WITH MVC3. People complain. If it actually comes true and does EVERYTHING people want, half the fans complain.

You guys are worse than Sonic fans. I swear. Go teach them a lesson in being completely ignorant of news posts that explain everything about the game. I wouldn't doubt that Capcom had trouble making the game. Sorry guys. Strider is property of another company. Big freaking deal. Sorry you don't get the master of chip back. And on the topic of people complaining about Venom (None in this post, but I'm tired of it.), WHICH VENOM? Because a good percent of you would go "Silly, there's only one Venom", but Eddie Brock is the Anti-Venom. And the new Venom is different. I'd much rather have Nimrod than anyone that could have been put in the game, even if Cammy was gonna get in over Nimrod, I'd complain. I love me some Cammy. She be da main girl.

Anyways, seems these glitches are just random I guess. Haven't been trying to find any glitches yet. Wonder if one is with Galactus.

Here we have an uncommon event: The whiners mating season. In this season, the whiners attract other whiners by a mating call known in some circles as "nitpicking". The only way to distract them is to throw in a fighting game with no purpose or reason, and with blood and guts to distract them and keep them sated, such as Mortal Kombat. What beautiful creatures!

#42
Akro said on March 7, 2011 at 6:48 p.m.

cloud, it is uncommon indeed, I guess the source is a failed project. When people who don't typical whine about everything start whining, there is a problem.

toki said on March 7, 2011 at 6:55 p.m.

Wow. Can people get any more impatient or unsatisfied? I'm tired of hearing, "They worked for 2 YEARS on this game and THIS is what we get?!?"

Seriously? 2 years is actually a very short time in terms of game creation. People have no right complaining about the time frame given and the amount of bugs in the game unless they can create a BETTER game (including all features they demand, free of any and all bugs - aka: the DEMANDED MVC3) in the same or less time.

These guys worked their tails off to get this game out to us in such a short amount of time. And as thanks, they get slammed left and right - like they've been secretly working on this game for 10 years and it better be perfect! Look at Oot - great game by many opinions, but far from perfect.

Please take a moment to consider how it would feel if you had worked on the game, went to a site well-known for having any and all news Capcom-related, and saw post after post bashing all the hard work you've done. Feel appreciated? Nope.

Another day, another game breaking glitch or easy 100% combo in this game. So tell me fanboys, how many glitches will it take before you admit that maybe this is another Capcom Fighting Evolution, and not the next fighting game of the decade? Missing features, bad netcode, confirmed on-disc DLC, no story mode (Capcom was hyping this at one point), shadow mode is a bad joke, and easy 100% combos and game breaking glitches everywhere.

Patches for most of this you say? Capcom already made an excuse that they can't do spectator mode. How many months will it be for a replay system, if there will be one at all? Maybe we'll have to buy all the missing features in Super Marvel vs Capcom 3 this Christmas?

But, keep telling yourself that all the complains are just whining. Capcom will have more shiny DLC for you next month.

How can you expect people to not complain when there are these huge glitches in the game? After all you did pay 60-70 bucks for the game. And if noone complained then Capcom would think we're ok with having these glitches and not do anything about it.

It's like ordering a pizza that's undercooked, but still eat it anyway and not say anything about it. Obviously you would complain about something like that, right? Oh, unless you're a diehard fanboy of the company that no matter what they spew out you'll just shell out good money for it anyway.. Who cares if it sucks right? It's my favorite company ever!

I guess everyone forgot about the Cajin Slash/Strike glitch with Gambit or the Ruby Heart glitch. Glitches are in every game.

And guess what? They will be in Mortal Kombat 9 so stop acting so suprised and go petition for a spectator mode instead of funky ol' Venom.

They should understand that when it comes to thinking OUTSIDE of the box, nothing..I mean NOTHING beats beta testing on the real playing field. They can have the best player testing stuff out, but its the guys out there with absolutly NO TIME on their hands that plays hours and hours and countless matches online that's gonna find the true hidden glitches in games....

They should have had a beta version to download like how they did with the recent Crisis Core beta. Have all the characters unlocked for about 2 to 3 months and then from there start tweaking and filtering out the cheap spaming glitches, the stickless button blocking glitches, the snap out or in glitches...its rediculous how many glitches there are for a game that should have had the best testers.

They better wait it out a bit and see how many more glitches there are before they just rush and make a patch and then people find even more glitches on top of the glitches they didn't fix in the first place.....geez.

Gotta love people complaining, as if they've never seen a glitch in a game before, Street fighter 4 had them, MVC2, had them, all those titles you like have them, there is no game with a high level of complexity that doesn't have a glitch in it.

Besides, all those glitches are REALLY situational, is not like one can pull them off every five seconds. I main Spencer, AND Haggar, and I have never had to deal with their DHC glitch ever, so stop whining and do something productive with your life.

LOL, the whiners on this site are too funny (not including the complaining trolls). They join the fighting game scene in 2009 because of SF4, yet think they know everything. Keep crying, for your tears are delicious. Capcom doesn't need your business, so go back to whatever genres you used to play before SF4 came out.

#70
Akro said on March 7, 2011 at 9:25 p.m.

rofl @ nitpicking. Guys get new material, it's not just the glitches and you know it.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 was out for only over 2 weeks yet we've found DOZENS of glitches, some are tolerable but stuff like this (video) is.

People had extremely high expectations for MvC3 and it wasn't met(which is fine), even remotely. Honestly, I'm pretty sure everyone wouldn't care as much about these glitches if the game overall were more solid and complete. This game is clearly lacking. Do you think the whining would be this bad if this game was given more effort? No. If that was the case, it would only be a small group whining like usual, and all games have that.

That's not the situation now though, the people who have qualms with the game overwhelm the people who don't.

HMMM... THERE JUST MIGHT BE A PROBLEM THIS TIME! CAPCOM, I'M STARING AT YOU!

Obviously a LARGE number of whiners would decrease if the online were better. It'd probably cut the overall group by half. Although I am actually very happy there is an MVC3 and that it was made in time (I'm pretty sure the community feels so also), I would be happier if some things that should be mandatory in a fighting game were put.

@70 actually capcom does need their business. Why do you think sf4 and mvc3 are "simple" compared to say third strike. Because they want to appeal to a mass audience, without them these games would never even be made.

#73
Sol_Badguy said on March 7, 2011 at 9:42 p.m.

Capcom does need the business of the hardcore and casual audience, but some of these whiners (mostly 09ers) not purchasing another Capcom game would be insignificant. They simply don't matter in the greater scheme of things.

I dont get it, why is it that when MVC2 released and years or months later inifinites and game breakers were found out people loved it. Now from what im reading here people are hating on mvc3 which has some glitches as well. Its funny because way more characters in this game actually have a better chance against the big 3 and such but in Mvc2 they didnt it was completly unfair. if you dont like it dont play it! i personally hate playing mvc2 because i always have to make sure when i get to play ( i can only play against people online since nobody around me plays) that i have at least 1 out of the 6 used characters in my team since people online use the same damn team all the time just to win or copy someone else. That right there just makes that game really boring considering its roster was huge but just about all of capcom characters in that game sucked. With the above said theres no point in complaining about less characters if you only use what 3 out of (insert amount of characters) in the game. Stop being so boring and try stepping out of your comfort zone and actually experiment.

Give MvC3 a chance if your gonna complain about something thats been out for half a month that "isnt complete", then guess that means you'll have to wait and see the "complete" version and give it more then a few months for tiers and such to be discussed and then start judging it heavier. Sad some people probably never even unwrapped or even played the game at all or very long.

They didn't need to rush the game IMO. I'm only speaking for myself here but I would be perfectly happy if they pulled a "Bioware" and released the game "when it was finished" as opposed to rushing it out unfinished, full of glitches, and unable to go through with the things they promised. I still like the game a whole lot though. Just a little disappointed.

I'd love to see one of these used to win a tourney match via time out.

the problem is where these complaints are directed at some seem bandwagon like the glitch ones and character x should be in but not the ones one modes

SSF4 online modes should be the standard for most fighters now at days with spec mode, replay, etc. (albeit yes champ mode is better than tourney) which is why in some ways MVC3 took steps back I mean we get simulated lag... sure tells you how much they trusted this netcode that was a speed of light one of the few upsides was online training mode which is something I hope SSF4 receives in the future. My big complaint is the fact we are paying for characters in the disk that's like a big FU since you blasted 60 bucks for an unfinished product.

@Sol funny you say that since a bunch of the older gamers have huge complaints on this game as well...

@88

I am one of those older gamers, and I do have complaints about certain aspects of the game, but I don't keep whining about it. The people who keep crying about act as if they deserve a near-perfect game. They demand certain characters should be in the game. They demand that just because Jill and Shuma Gorath are on the disc that Capcom OWES it to them to be free. They act as if the game is not worth $60 just because of a glitch or because of previously-promised features not being included. Many of these people also don't have a clue about deadlines or Capcom having to be a fiscally responsible company. It's always a "give me this or you suck" reaction from them.

I have never seen so much complaining about fighting games in my life ever since the release of SF4. At the arcades, people didn't moan about every little thing, and during the Internet's early days there was very little complaining about the flaws of hit titles like SFA3 and KOF98. MvC2 had tons of flaws, but as someone mentioned earlier in this topic, there wasn't so much whining going around about the game. You know why? Because most of us who played fighting games for years understood that no fighting game was going to be perfect. We just wanted to play any new fighting game and attempt to get the most out of it. We didn't demand Capcom (or any other company) give us this and that. SF4 brought in a very bad crowd, and even SRK has been junked up because of them. Fortunately, there are some new players that are beneficial to the community, but they are far outnumbered by the rest.

@91 You're problem is comparing MvC3 to SF4. They are both fighting games on a 2d plane, but that's where the comparison ends. Marvel is a 3 v 3 game which adds a whole ton of potential glitch situations than a 1 v 1 game like SF could ever have.

Mission Mode wasn't enough? No, because SF4 and BlazBlue had that... Shadow Mode? Playing against people who made the game and maybe tournament pros eventually? Well, it's just a "shadow", so that's lame and should have been left out, right?

Spectator Mode isn't possible, unless you want your match to lag so others can watch it. Let it go. I just want online patched so it's more reliable and these glitches to be patched when Capcom gets around to it. All of these other complaints (having less characters than SSF4, Eventhubs not being a Capcom site, my favorite character isn't in the game) are childish. 36>35, Eventhubs only has info on Capcom games, your favorite character isn't everyone's favorite.

People are allowed to be disappointed with something they've:

a) been waiting for
b) purchased at least for 60 clams
c) been dedicated to.

They only want it to be better/get their money's worth. Also, to suggest that people should "STOP BUYING CAPCOM GAMES" is silly and explosive for no reason. It's not "MVC3 + random glitches" on the box. While I don't claim to know much about the programming, I am assuming that the majority of these issues may be patched.

Keep on generating the buzz so Capcom becomes well-aware.

@91 this

@92 that lag talk is bs look at FPS you have a spec mode and a ton more stuff going on. Plus all it really is are inputs that's just a lame excuse capcom is making.

@94 I've played tekken 6 but at least they tried to fix it with a patch proving they listened to the fans complaints as compared to this so far in which all we get are excuses.

@90 I always ignore the character ones since they are spam but sf4 didn't change everything it was just the evolution of the Internet and the FG community growing by this I mean the older gamers getting into all the things behind the games and putting info for the rest of us. To completely blame the sf4 generation is silly, because like I said even the older generation as much as a bunch of them dislike 4 they (heck everyone) thought thad these features should be standard we all knew mcv3 wasn't going to be perfect but man they knocked for a loop with what they gave us.
