Ono posted, what appears to be, a new background stage for Street Fighter X Tekken, which shows Alex (the velociraptor with blue gloves) of Tekken fame, on his Twitter account.

MK9 is back to 2D gameplay, it actually beat out MVC3 in a lot of E3 awards. You should look up how different MK9 is from all the previous few (which are all 3D) before you pass judgment so quickly.

@10 Changing to 2D from 3D isn't enough for me. When you have a bad reputation for making games that suck how often does a company ditch that reputation? Even the good MK games were unbalanced as hell with combos that took off almost 100% life and garbage tactics. People excited about MK9 only have to look at the last few MK games or anything since UMK3 to see how terrible they've been.

MK9 will be popular for one maybe two weeks and then everyone will discover a bunch of garbage and stop playing it.

#14 Well if you don't like Mortal Kombat whats the point in trying to convince you. People who love or remember the fun they had playing MK when they were a kid will love this one.

Exact same thing that happened to SFIV and not everyone liked it at first, not even Daigo until he got into it; going back to it's roots. Don't oust it because it does'nt have a Japanese voice over feature. The game is fun.

sfxtk was probably the worse anounment last year, it was so dissapointing we where expecting some big news but instead we got this, i just hope the fighting mechanics are completely diferents from there franchise an try to develop something creative this time, now capcom give your fans what they want megaman X for mvc3 (overhyped game that is just good but not that good) and megaman x9, the world want to see the elf war at their prime moment we need it capcom, make it happen

Well, this Alex character is not going to be playable. I've never seen a character who stands in the background and be playable in the same game.

However, this is not the news I was expected from trolling Ono. Oh well, guess we'll have to wait for another two months before any SF x T news is revealed again.

We're looking at Alex. He's clearly in the near-background watching the fight that... isn't happening at the moment, lol.

Also, name the last Tekken game he was in. Oh that's right, Tekken Tag, and even then he was semi-hidden.

@Struggs I think MK maybe pretty good. It's obvious they're copying some things for SF4. X-ray being the equivalent of Ultras, damage wise. You use meter for powered up version of attacks, just like EX meter. Cross ups are in the game, characters fight styles actually being different. The only thing I'm really iffy about, is how well the game will be balanced. Boon says he wants the game to be balanced and competitive, I just don't know if he'll deliver on that.

@Cammystrike Is Boon going to say he wants the game to be unbalanced and not competitive? Saying something is good and it needs to be said but actually doing it is a different thing. MK games haven't been balanced... ever.

They could surprise a lot of people but I'm not holding my breath.

MVC 3 has spoiled me. It is a graphical masterpiece as far as fighting games goes, especially a Capcom game. The game is polished and the level to detail to the fighters we known and loved for many years haven't looked better. Having said that, if Ono and team are going to use the same dated assets from SFIV to make this game then count me out. SFIV, SSFIV, and SSFIV AE looks dated in comparison to Marvel VS Capcom 3. The SFIV edition has its moments but it is dated.

I guess there is a demand for this type of news. But, I been here for about a year, an each time an "Ono" post pops up he does this. I'm sure the guy has degrees an crazy experience in the gaming world but why do I feel like he's giggling an spinnin' around in his chair going "weeeeee! yayyy!"

MVC3 uses the Resident Evil 5 graphics engine. Resident Evil 5 is no more than a year newer than Street Fighter IV, and the graphical assets unique to Super and its Arcade Edition are newer than that. You can prefer the art style of MVC3 if you wish, but pretending there is some technological gap here is unfounded and silly.

This is Capcom games news, no need to talk mortal kombat here. There's a lot of good sites dedicated to fighters in general (I personally recommend www.fightersgeneration.com).

Anyway about Alex, if he's in the game sure it's not with that model. And I think I read somewhere that the cast is going to be mostly classic characters, don't think the cangaroo fits in that category.

If SFxT doesn't recycle a vast amount of the characters from SSF4 and has majority of new ones then its worth the purchase IMO. Karin, Rolento and Urien is all I'm asking for and I WILL actually play them regardless of tiers.

He best be a background character. I want this game to be equivalent to CvS2 where the majority of the characters are raw fighters. If we were going to have an animal in the game then I'd rather it be that ferocious looking bear, Kuma. She needs to show Zangief why you shouldn't f*** with a bear. She'd make a good replacement for that scrub Blanka.

Look at that huge dinosaur in the background. Even though I don't usually care about stages, as it's all there is to talk about for this game at the minute, it took my notice. I hope that it moves around and does some visually interesting things; this stage has a lot of potential to be fun.

This stage kinda looks.. whack... burnt.. however you wanna describe it. The SF4 art style looks awkward in Tekken stages.. IMO.

MK9 is gonna rock. I cannot wait for the release. I would love to see or hear more news about Arcade edition as DLC, but as it is, Ono has trolled me away from caring. Not too bright considering MK is right around the corner and could tear a LOT of attention away from the Capcom fighters. It will be interesting indeed............

Man....I am so hypppppppped for SFxTekken. Just imagine how thick the plot could be in the story line....I seriously hope Balrog gets in there with M. Bison. This game is going to be sick, it will also probably be real technical since Tekken is a pretty technical game.

As for MK9, the new features look refreshing and the return to 2D fighting looks fantastic. Sure, the game could end up being rubbish, but it's not out yet and anything else said on it is just wishful thinking. I've played MK when I was a kid and had great times with it, it's a fun game.
