$50 000
these guys must be fricken millionaires or something...
Wait for the $2,000,000 MvC3 money match, and $8,000,000 SF X Tekken match.
Andre Vs. Justin.
Hype!
"Ok that's just stupid, 50k on a goddamn game. I don't care how rich you are, that's retarded.", SAID a person who probably don't make over 60k a year.
If you are Rich then 50k means nothing. to a poor people its Retared. to a Rich person is pocket change.
Wow, those two either have money to burn or are complete morons. Betting 50K on a video game, that's stupidity at its finest.
I was there, this s h i t was hype like nothing ever seen before, and I hated MvC2.
To everybody, it's not each person has 25k, there were lots of people involved betting on them. They both didn't just drop 25k and challenge each other. I originally thought that too haha
@Nori well that makes a hell of a lot more sense. Thanks for clearing it up.
More like if this is gonna be for $50K, why is this being fought out on a non-HDTV not worth more than $50? Direct feed woulda been nice too.
Not trying to hate, but there is some irony there.
@22
So are you saying this stuff isn't real either?

any one realized that the music is from metal gear solid?
pretty cool!!!
well, is true that the money comes from side bets too, but i really HATE money matches, is my personal opinion, as i hate poker, casinos etc etc
is not about the game, poker is cool, roulette is cool, black jack is really fun but when you put your own money on it, it becomes something diferent.
some of you may say, yeahhh, it becomes more interesting! but thats not true.
money is what makes the diference between casinos and videogames.
one thing is earn a tournament and win money, and other a lot diferent is to transform the videogame comunity into a casino with a lot of sick people wasting their money and their lives.......
Probably they aren't even rich but just relying heavily on skill.
Compare 50 000 to the time and effort of an e-sports-player, who gets about the same in reward.
Great matches, anyway.
@23
I don't get if you meant to direct your comment to #18 or me. I'm not questioning the authenticity of the matches - I'm just saying matches played for this high of stakes deserve to be played on a better monitor/TV that's all. =)
People bet on professional games like football,baseball and so on,i see no different in this 50k match.
@22
With that much money on the line you dont WANT to play on an hdtv as they all have some sort of input lag. CRT is the only way to be sure there isnt any at all.
Also the reason you always see big tournaments like EVO being played on like 20" or so small monitors and not 40-50" TV's.
@ downruplyb
CRTs don't have input lag, while many HDTVs do. With a fast paced game like this, and this much money on the line, you don't want to risk anything. Plus, this was played on a Dreamcast, which was primarily a SD console, unless you use the VGA box, but that runs the risk of other problems arising.
@ 25 if you do not like gambling then you should not continue living for living life itself is a gamble.
i just hope this doesnt become the future of video gaming. even if im a millionaire i dont want to constantly have to challenge someone to a match for money. it gets really stupid and unfair for those who cant afford it. besides we have enough people online caring about their points too much to turtle the whole damn match, if we bet money on it...scary stuff lol
@34
yea life its self is a gamble, lets all go and waste our money on the casino lol. seriously? life may be a gamble (since we dont know when we'll die) but to compare a video game to life? thats just far-fetched imo
I'll never understand why people throw their money away with gambling. I could understand a 5-20 dollar bet, but $50,000... that's ridiculous. Yeah, I'm poor, so is the majority of America and the rest of the world that struggle to make ends meet.
absolutely my bad. i figured about it being played on DC, but didn't realize about the input lag issues. thanks for the clarification.
HOLY S--T!!! This is even bigger than the $24,000 Sanford Kelly vs. West Coast and $15,000 Clockwork vs Neo moneymatches, this is going to be hype as hell!!!!!!
