Here's an official blurb.
Gootecks and Mike Ross are FINALLY back! Over the past few weeks, SSF4 hype has all but dried up and MvC3 has risen to the spotlight. Thus, our heroes attempt to traverse the uncharted waters of MvC online... but there's a problem! Mike is a seasoned and experienced Marvel player. Gootecks... NOT SO MUCH.
THEREFORE, the idea of this series is to help Gootecks LEVEL UP in his Marvel expertise! With the help of Mike, the foes he faces online, and possibly you, the audience! And by doing so, we hope to level up some of YOU who are new to Marvel as well!
Either way, it will be an adventure! And fear not, Gootecks and Mike Ross have not forgotten Street Fighter 4. Think of it as an extended break...

It's very cathartic to watch Gootecks complain. That is exactly the sentiment me and my friends have had for ten years.
Everyone who played MVC2 were such jerks, they never shared secrets and they only won because I 'didn't know how to block.' Winning just didn't feel good. It felt like you were picking on people.
We'll see what happens.
@ I remember that. But maybe MVC felt worse because I was in my teens while for SFII I was in elementary school so everyone was older and I didn't care about who I was playing against.
@mrdrofficer
Unfortunately, it was like that for every fighting game. Look at guilty gear's scene outside of Japan... It's almost non-existent. For marvel, it did feel worse because those a-holes that picked you and your friends were kind of "right" so to speak. You really needed to "learn how to block". Now with the age of the internet that can all change. Don't worry about it. Cheers! :)
Nice! its going to be awesome to watch Gootecks and Ross grow. Its easy to complain in the beginning but once you understand it and evolve. You actually enjoy the game... except when you lose.
Gootecks isnt that bad once he gets you in a combo. Just his movement pressure and assist usage need work. Like a boxer having a crisp jab and cross, but Not knowing how to put a one two punch together. And forget about a combination. Lol
@16
You don't actually want to do that a whole lot, especially with a character like Wolverine or X-23, who have a ton of combo potential themselves. It's better to keep that one character in, and end the combo on a hyper than to needlessly tag in another character. It's about tactics, not just getting that extra few hits in with a different character!
Right there with you, Gootecks. I've been playing fighting games for quite some time, and I'm entering the MvC series now. You gotta start somewhere!
Absolutely great series, I really learnt a lot about the pressuring tactics though pressing two buttons at once is really awkward, as in an assist and other attack. That's the largest hole in my game, I have to actively think to myself "CALL AN ASSIST" instead of just doing it. It's going to be a long road methinks.
I totally dig these guys and their episodes.
I was around for MVC2 but just wouldnt touch the game cause I just couldn't understand all the chaos that was going on. Was good to see Gootecks getting some sound advice from Ross. It'll be interesting to see his progression now
Wow! Gootecks got pretty damn decent very fast, and with a relatively "bad" team, haha. Just goes to show you that anything is possible in this game if you're willing to put in the effort.
It was pretty funny to see him stressing over beating that guy who didn't block at all, lol.
I alwayas have been a rushdown player, but now that im thinking about it, never cared about the defense, and this is what this game is all about, knowing how to respond in the different scenarios, and this comprends attack, defense, while being punished, when you want to change to your next character and your enemy knows it, when time is almost over and your losing... things like that
I like this game because its not only your execution, the most of the time youre thinking on a strategy, and thats why Jwong is the best, he never drops combos and knows the rules of the game, if hes losing he knows why and immediately changes things in his advantage...
Mike & Ryan have lot of room in here to develop, and I really like the fact that Gootecks its a beginner surrounded by the real masters of all time. As a suggestion I'd like to see Jwong as a guest and maybe talking about defense... thats what we need to learn to beat that crappy Sentinel
This is such an awesome premiss for a series. Gootecks represents the majority of us new to mvc, trying to find his way in the game. With Ross there to give some sound advice. I feel like we can all grow along with Gootecks, since this almost works like a hands on tutorial. Anyway excellent show guys, and I can't wait for the next one.
first day playing mvc3 for me.
i won 38 matches in a row using amateratsu, sentinel and dante.
so.....something is wrong with this game.....and i mean very wrong.......
i know that a lot of you love it, and me too, in training mode is one of the most creative games in history, is exciting and beautiful but in a real match is hell.
why you shoul be creative if you can win using a pair of attacks???? and why capcom dont realize that they should change the principles of the game? so 5 hours after playing mvc, i put the DMC disc into my ps and played some bloody palace floors!!! thats a good game!!!
is a shame, i was really excited.
I knew this day would come.
