Thanks to Shffl for the tip.
Marn said it himself, the only reason he was the best at tvc was because no one really played played it.
Ryry had a very good showing during Winter Brawl and he didn't seem to expect the Tron assist from Justin. If he decides to dedicate more time to mvc3, he could definitely hang with Justin.
Wow. Justin with the perfect in the first video around 14-15 minutes. crazy
look at Justin taking advantage of all mvc players we like to press buttons and press assist all the time lol... they get punished so bad for it... non of the pros learn their lesson except for justin and marn... have fun earning that easy money guys might as well take advantage early right? just watch the videos when he chooses to attack... hes always withing the range were he can react to an assist or just outside the range to punished whiffed attacks
a while back daigo said he wants to start playing mvc3. imagine him vs justin wong XD
Justins strategy makes a majority of the pros look free... call an high priority assist that hits multiple times dash in short -----> did they advance guard -----yes----- dash in short to instant overhead -----> did they advance guard ----no---- hit confirm to finish combo.... i guess this strategy works against everyone... also if u didnt notice Justin is baiting for people to advance guard... if u slow the gameplay down-- hes actually playing footies... therefore making the opponent look very stupid for pressing buttons from anywhere on the screen cuz he knows how to properly punish with his groups of characters.... Yes justin is by far the current best mvc3 players... yet his strategy is so basic I LOVE IT!!!!
Justin almost lost to yoshi though. Not sure what happened to Phoenix block but if it wasn't for that...
^ he probably pressed a button during the hyper animation.
RogueYoshi was amazing though. Those matches were hype... at least until he got exposed.
He hated the game but now he is the only one validating it by taking chances with his character and team picks. He's really exposing a lot of the pros to be tier whores first and foremost and skilled players with reaction, timing and tactics second.
JW got a lot of flack but I've become a huge fan in the last couple years. I think he handles the game with more humility than people with half his skill level. If anyone is make the sport look professional, it's him.
These commentators are saying the exact same thing. Only need one there so we will only have 1x the stupid commentary.
I don't understand why they're so perplexed at why Justin keeps snapping in Phoenix even after she has Dark Phoenix active.
Justin is trying to force the opponent to waste X factor so he only has to deal with a level 2 X factor as opposed to a level 3.
Dark Phoenix needs all the buffs of X factor. Since she takes so much damage she needs to get rid of opponents quickly.
So level 3 X factor gives a significantly more amount of damage boost over a level 2, however, more key then the damage boost I would say is the fact that in X factor she cannot be chipped, and it lasts much longer.
Anybody who has done chip damage to Phoenix knows it's significant enough to make it worth it. Remember, since her vitality is half of the next lowest character, any damage is that much more significant including chip damage.
Just this fact is a severe handicap for Phoenix. X factor ensures that she won't have to deal with this. If you DON'T think about it, the amount of extra time you get for a level 3 X factor over a level 2 may not seem like much. However, anybody knows that in game time, the amount of time feels like forever. If you think about it in the scale of a 99 second match as opposed to real life time, the time difference is obvious.
while obvious to a specific group of people, alot of people seem to miss the simple things about a character ...let alone the mindset of the player.
@Cobalt: Apparently not obvious enough for the commentators.
The whole reason why I pointed out these facts was to support reasoning as to why Justin kept snapping in Dark Phoenix.
Yes, what I stated was obvious, but the commentators were thoroughly confused as to why Justin kept snapping Dark Phoenix in. It was extremely obvious which was why I stated, "I don't understand why they're so perplexed at why Justin keeps snapping in Phoenix even after she has Dark Phoenix active."
If you actually bothered to read my post instead of making assumptions you would know this.
I thought Marn quit. Why do you guys still bring him up?
And the moral of the story is: Stop Tier whoring yourself, and go into the lab and learn the damn game!!!! Anybody can win with anybody if you're willing to put in some work. Justin didn't learn how to kick Sentinel's butt by osmosis!? He took the time in the lab and stopped looking at stupid YouTube vids and VesperArcade tutorials, and actually figured out ON HIS OWN how to be a threat WITHOUT listening to the masses on Tier Lists and matchups and whatever.. Everybody else uses the Internet as a guide for this game that JUST CAME OUT!!! Don't let some guys who obviously haven't broken down the game 100% yet, tell us how to play and who to pick. (Yeah,I know there is some good stuff to learn online, but in the end you gotta practice your own S#!T for your OWN play style) Nuff said on that..
Don't get me wrong, Sentinel is a beast...but really?! He's the biggest playable target in the game, and with X factor? Anybody can be a threat to him! I look at these vids as just tips on styles of gameplay...I don't look at these vids as a guide to tiers, or who's better or stronger than who. If a guy is getting his A$$ handed to him, it's because he just isn't good enough, or is too one track minded and doesn't know how to adapt to different game styles. Justin also doesn't just have one team....And I think that is also smart. There's over 20 characters for a reason people.. The day people start downloading how to fight Wolverine is when Justin stops evolving as a player and just keeps using Wolverine for us to download. Look what happened to Daigo and Ryu...the guy kept using him and now, he's pretty much downloaded. Yeah, he's still tough to beat, cause he's damn good. But in the end we ain't surprised anymore when we see his matches and he's getting more and more beatable. Now hes on the Yun tip and now because nobody perfected yet the Yun matchups, he's dominating AE. But just you wait. He keeps playing him and people will find the pattern and download his A$$.
Anyways, y'all get my point I hope..Watching Justin kick butt with other than "High Tier" characters is a sigh of relief that this game has lasting potential. And not a sign like MVC2, where only around 5 playable characters were the truth to success if you were to compete on a professional tournament level.
@25
MvC2 is imbalanced, but none of these newer fighters will ever last as long as MvC2 did. MvC2 is a magical game and 100 matches between 2 god teams are far more diverse than 100 matches between 2 low tier teams. Every good low tier team abused one aspect of team's star character with tron assist. Instead of becoming more diverse, it made the game more specialized and repetitive. The issue in MvC2 was not that the gods had too many tools, it was because the rest of the cast was completely underpowered.
Justin Wong is the top 1 right now, and it's goin to take a while to close the gap....
