It was confirmed that the official release date for the PC version of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition will be July 5, 2011, recently by Capcom's Christian Svensson on the Unity Boards. He quickly tackled a couple of other subjects dealing with additional content for Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition and SSF4 AE as well.
According to Direct2Drive, SSF4 AE releases on the PC on July 1st, but you said it was the 5th, what's up? — Ice_Breaker
Svensson: It's an error. It's the 5th. I'll have our guys remind them today.
Is the DLC for Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition fixed (we are going to get JUST what you planned, and that will be all) or there is a possibility that your extend the DLC with new features over time? — Slim
Svensson: Difficult to answer. Both I suppose? We have a fixed set planned. That said, it is possible that if after we've rolled out what we've planned, there's some additional things folks want, we might be able to address those down the line (provided that they're reasonably sized efforts and not huge).
What would it take for Street Fighter to have character specific stages again? — Satou
Svensson: It's all about resource allocation.
Stages cost money to create. Characters cost money to create. Network features cost money to create (and often as much [testing] as to create). We're now at AE, the focus has largely been on characters and on bringing the online features up to where we want them.
So it's a balance of where those resources go. It's also a balance of what the composition of the team is between artists, programers, designers, etc.
Could we do more stages via DLC? Maybe. We're noodling ideas in light of a lot of folks asking us to do more content after SSF4 Arcade Edition.
Also, there is an EventHubs Steam group ran by community members if you're looking to meet up with people from the site who play the PC version.

I hope everyone knows now why the game costs "only" 15€ .
So, first they would end the IV-series with AE, now they are considering adding some new content on request? Somehow this is not unexpected. :D
Let the comments begin how Capcom is milking the community. Obviously these people never bought any EA Sports title's yearly update.
Also, let the speculation begin again about which character(s) might be added, if they do add some.
"Stages cost money to create. Characters cost money to create. Network features cost money to create"
Isn't that why they were charging $4 for a pack of 5 costumes? So they'd have money to do these things? And its not like they are going to give away new stages and characters for free.
As much as i dislike DLC i would love to see 5-10 new stages being offered this way. I don't want ANY new costumes or characters, at this stage i think AE is more than enough. But for new stages i would be game. Then again i seriously hope these guys are already doing some work on SF V
i'd trade all of akuma's alternates just for dat cyber akuma skin ^^
I'm sorry, but 'more AE content' is nonsense. We want a game that does not have ridiculously overpowered characters. At most they should release a 'version b' update to arcades and DLC.
Classic stages would be nice! But if not classic they need to at least implement a RING STAGE. Like a boxing ring considering a good number of the cast actually fight in rings that would be cool.
People are STILL asking for additional content for SF4? Really? You haven't had enough yet with SF4, the alternate costumes for that, Super SF4, the alternate costumes for THAT, Arcade Edition, and the alternate costumes coming out for THAT!? You want to pay more!? You guys are just letting Capcom milk you dry with this trash. What is wrong with you? Aren't you tired of buying the same game and costumes over and over again?
@18
While you're sitting here whining about balance, people are online learning the match-ups and adapting instead.
Really hope for a PC version hack with characters like Cyber Akuma, Violent Ken, and god willing Psycho Abel.
@20 Capcom isn't milking me dry. I, along with many who want more are openly saying we will give them our money. So yeah, I want to pay more. Hell, I'm grateful they are even considering it, since SFxT hasn't blown me away yet (still time) and MvC3 for me depends on what day of the week. I have been feeling MK though, which ironically owes it's comeback to Street Fighter.
I think Super Street Fighter IV is THAT good. If a game can ignite such passion in either direction, who are we to say Capcom shouldn't push it further if that's what a lot of fans want?
To be fair though, I understand where the dissenters are coming from. The fear of the brand becoming diluted because of these annual updates is a valid concern, and if this were still the cartridge era, I would be right on board in feeling the fatigue, but thankfully it's not, and thankfully when I hear any news concerning Street Fighter (IV, or otherwise) I get pumped. This game changed my life, I had no idea how deep the fighting game rabbit hole would actually be and I still haven't found the answer because I'm learning amazing things every time I watch a combo video, read a blog or watch a tournament stream.
I hope Street Fighter V, when we get there, evokes those same feelings of anticipation.
Sorry for the long post, I sort of had to defend my hobby last night during the post-Transformers 3 after-bash. :-D
Nice. Hope capcom will follow through!
I rather see character specific stages from SSF2 then more characters. Havent played AE yet and already what I see from Yun is kinda over the top. But character specific stages FTW!!
SO HYPE for AE on PC.
7/5 cant come fast enough!
Pre-ordered and ready to rumble!
PC FTW.
"Stages cost money".... HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE THEY MADE AND CONTINUE TO MAKE OFF THE SF4 SERIES AGAIN??? I"d rather see new or classic stages than these DLC costumes they're releasing. Don't give me that garbage, cost is their answer to everything now days. GET THAT MONEY CAPCOM, they take it but they don't wanna give it back in any form. All of a sudden Capcom is broke now... lol.
Making DLC stages is actually a good idea and it would make them money. How hard can it be to do that? Jeez you'd think they were designing maps for COD or something.
@31, true said man. a lot of the costumes they made just suck. i wud trade them in for new stages anyday.
on another note, they shud really of considered adding dat cyber akuma costume. it beats all his alternates put together, period.
If sales are great on this version, then who knows, maybe we'll see MVC3 for PC later in the future.
I cant wait to get my copy ~~~! ^_^
