Some users have reported a freezing issue with the PlayStation 3 retail release of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. The game works fine until it gets to the Vs. screen, but at that moment it freezes.The disc version of the game is identical to the DLC. The only thing that changed is the "Title Screen". The title screen now loads up as "Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition". The disc is useful for people that want to take the game to a friends house or tournaments.
Fix pointed out by Kuni via Capcom-Unity and GameFAQs.
@1 yeah! i was hoping for menu screens to be dolled up, too...
In the PS3 at the XMB friends section does it say Super Street Fighter AE when a person is playing it? or it says Super Street Fighter 4.
When my friend was playing AE, it said he was playing "SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV ARCADE EDITION." But when I checked his trophy collection, it still said "SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV."
This happened to me Im quoting the post from another thread hoping this helps.

@Strider_RagnaroK
I had this same problem at my friends house. I deleted everything on the system that was street fighter related and it worked from then on.

@Kalashnikov
Thank you! it actually worked. I didn't have to delete everything SF related, just the SSFIV Game Utility Data, with it I lost the alt costumes but I re-downloaded them again and now I can play. It seems that the game still was recognizing the Game Data from SSFIV, which was version 1.2 instead of the AE update version 1.5, even after installation.
But be more careful with your wording if someone by chance deletes the Save Data, they might be erasing the data from the trails, arcade scores, options configurations ect... also there is no need to erase SFIV Game Data, because of you do so you'll be loosing the 1st alt costume pack.
^^^ Can anyone confirm that there are trials for the new characters on the disc??
If so then the DLC is *not* identical to the retail version as stated in the description on Playstation Store. It is actually different in a big way, because DLC owners are stuck with the same trials from Vanilla Super, which are now based on outdated frame data and do not cover the new characters.
If the disc has all new trials, Capcom better patch the DLC to bring it in line, or the DLC owners have been ripped off.
No there isn't any new trails on disc version either, when you go to trail mode the game warns you, that the data for the trial is from the SSFIV version and automatically change from AE to SSFIV. After you return to the main menu the game goes back automatically to AE.
Another thing, AE is 40$ but if you trade in SSFIV you probably get around 18$ if you have the Gamestop card (or specials of the day like 50%). 40$ - 18$ = 22$ plus I traded in some PS2 games and got 8$ for each so AE for me was free.
@10 If you read my comment, I'm saying that IF there were trials on the disc but not the DLC, THEN it would be a rip off to DLC owners.
Apparently the trials are equally outdated on each version of AE, so everyone has been ripped off!
Here's hoping for a patch in the future...
@11 a.e wasn't free if you had to trade your games in. it's actually the other way around Gamestop got your games for free. Well in theory they will when they make profit from your games.
Ps3 still having issues huh? I'm sorry but Xbox is blowing ps3 out the water right now, and I used to be a ps3 fan. Oh well, xbl for me. Quality(50$/yr) over Quantity(free) baby
@13 yes but no, first I gave SSFIV for a better version of the same game and second I trade in 2 old PS2 games that I no longer give F* about and I know for certain that i'll never play them again. So instead of having them collecting dust, taking space I change them for money and get something out of them.
@19 Err...the same way people learnt characters in games before trial modes came along? The same way most good players will learn a character now? Get in training mode! See what works! I find that trial mode combos just show you a few things that are POSSIBLE with each character. Half of them aren't practical or are unnecessarily fiddley to pull off when you could go for something easier for more damage. Or if you prefer to learn from more experienced players, watch some matches or combo videos on youtube and try to copy what they do. I prefer figuring out my own stuff though.
@20 - yea most of the trials are useless but most of the time it left a player at a good start when learning a new char since it gives a basic idea what a chars combos look like and most useless trial combos can be modified into more useful ones.
yes training mode was how ppl learned a char back in the day but why should one have to start from scratch just cuz cc was too lazy to make trials for the new chars and new trials for the returning chars that reveal some of the new things possible in ae now? were in 2011 not 1999.
am I the only one that lost my colors and costumes upon loading up the retail copy of ae?
Aikinage, have you ever played trials on arcade machines? No. It isn't called Arcade Edition because it's sounds cool but because it's the Arcade Edition. So not having trials is not a rip off, everything else you got over Arcade Arcade Edition is extra.
Agree with @22, the trials are a good starter when learning a new character.
@20 oh sorry do you mean in the old days when only a hardcore of fighting game headz knew how to play? Like with 3S, that Capcom admits nearly killed off the whole genre? You know what, screw the old days, those times are history. The only reason there is such a big community today is because the genre has become more accessible. Part of that comes from having trials so that gamers with a JOB and a LIFE can level up in the time they have available.
WTF i thought the disc wasnt going to be out until the 25th for 40$ with new content and sh!t! what about the new chars are we ever going to see them? Or maybe their none and they just want us suckin at the palm of their hands! Im lookin at mk9 cause they have actual dlc characters showing up since an april release unlike sf4 took em a decade for new sh!t
I thought you guys knew by now that Capcom is extremely lazy and cash cows lol. Others give chars for half the price and double the value, some give costumes for free, some keep adding chars.
But who the hell cares about new chars though? WE HAVE FOURTY CHARS OR SO. Pick one of those :p
#27
Really they give chars for half the price ? Where are those mythical and magical games ?
Blazblue CS(wich mind you i find excellent) sells you 3 more at 7 dollars each . plus commentator voices and packs of colors ...
Mortal kombat sells you each dlc character at 5 dollars .
SCIV's yoda and vader were 5 dollars each too .
So far only the tekken franchise hasnt been a cheapskate and trying to sell stuff . Other than that Capcom is hardly the worst offenders for at least characters dlc
@25
There are plenty of people in the fighting game community that have jobs and lives. Justin has a job at Nexon, Mike and Gootecks don't only do CrossCounterTV. MANY other players have jobs and socials lives, the difference between you and them is that they don't suck.
aww I wanted that AE title screen with Oni in the back :) Stupid DLC didn't give that.
