DDRarrowReborn has won the 50$ prize for best MvC3 guide in the Forums for the month of June. His work on his Phoenix guide was excellent, taking the time to explain moves and detail strategies in each part of the guide. He also had an organized table of contents, a well-written General Strategy section and Team Building section.Dealing with Snapbacks:
If you're playing against a competent player, you'll eventually have to deal with Phoenix getting snapped in early. Depending on who your opponent's point character is, you'll have to worry about a variety of things when Phoenix jumps in from the side of the screen.
Opponent goes for an air throw or command grab:
This is the one that most people will go for, but you don't have to worry about teching the air throw. In fact, Phoenix (or any character for that matter) is unthrowable until she hits the ground, unless she is hit, blocks an attack, or presses an attack button. Most Phoenix players will try to press a button on the way in to get the opponent off of her, but this opens her up to throws and probably getting KO'd.
One thing to note is that if you block a move, you become susceptible to air throws. Smart players will throw out a s.:attack-light: and then immediately attempt to air throw you afterwards. Watch out for this tactic, as it's surprisingly effective in the hands of a skilled player!
Opponent tries to hit you in the air:
Characters with jump loops such as She-Hulk and Wesker may try to hit you out of the air with a jumping attack if they think you're going to be mashing :joystick-right: :plus: :attack-hard: to tech an air throw. Once again, the solution to this problem is to not press a button, because you'll generally get counterhit by a meaty air normal.
Opponent waits for you to land, then goes in for a throw or command grab:
This is where things get tricky. You expected them to try and hit you in the air, and they didn't. What now? You can hold up-back to jump immediately after hitting the ground and avoid their throw attempt. If you think that they're trying to do this, then you can stick out an air normal and hit them, since most players will try to forward throw you towards the corner.
Thanks a bunch guys!
lol, the point of this guide is to try and lessen the number of players that mash A =P
Oh nos, this will only promote more people to use Phoenix.
NOOOOOO!!
