Tip from Jperez, Ethan C., Shffl, KrazyKorean and Arrancar.
^i dont think other characters can do 700+, even gen?
and i don't think it's so much that his super/ultra does so much damage, it's more of the fact of how viable it is to actually use in matches
considering yun's meter building and the fact all of this is easily hit confirmable, it's pretty scary
Gen can do 720 damage.
Also, RAW ULTRA IN THE CORNER is hit-confirmable?
Are you nuts?
I am not saying Yun is not strong. He is of the strongest, possibly the strongest.
But people should understand why he is strong, not see a raw ultra in the corner connecting and using two full bars and going 'That is so cheap, it breaks the game'.
Come on.
Also, #6 is forgetting just how godlike Yun was BEFORE this was found.
And no, I'm not counting the raw corner ultra combo.
@#9
Not at all.
People using this as an argument is what is stupid.
As I said, people go 'Oh, look at that damage' or 'EVERYTHING HE DOES IS SAFE', which is not the case.
If you do not bother to understand why the character is good and his traits, you deserve to get your ass kicked.
@6
Saying people are whining is a bit excessive don't you think? Anyway, I wouldn't call it broken or overpowered but seeing as how Yun is already a monster to begin with the fact he can pull combos like this out is painful.
@15
Yun's Ultra doesn't get scaled because it was the first of attack of the combo. It think it goes the first two attacks don't get scaled and every attack from the third down gets scaled down to the tenth attack which does 10% And Ultra's and Focus Attacks count as two attacks. And I haven't factored the opponents health which is a whole other story.
People can't be complaining this is broke. I tried to pull off a bunch of kara-palms, I got three-four at the most and that was in Genei Jin, where it's much easier. You can't just do a normal Kara, your inputs have to be /exactly/ "d, df, f" you go to db or uf and you get a command grab. This just isn't worth the hassle and personally, I feel the person that could actually bust this out in a match (especially 10) is Sako or Desk. Not every online scrub. As well as that, none of these combos started with hitconfirms which take the scaling down by like, 4-5 measures before you even hit genei jin.
I don't think I saw this much complaining on the Instant Stun that Desk posted the other day...
@#13
I understand perfectly well why he's so amazing as a character. This just makes his corner game even more lethal.
I also understand that we can't be expected to fight him well until we have the matchup sussed with our own characers.
Also, he is safe on a lot of things (especially if spaced correctly) - however you're usually able to interrupt those things before they reach you...although that can be damned hard to do - let alone online.
Isn't it funny that most of the anti-Yun crybabies have the worse grammar, spelling, and sentence structure? The fact that they can't even write a coherent sentence gives strong implication that they are of low level of intelligence and that their higher-thinking abilities, IQ, is low. No wonder they're spending most of their time crying like a 3rd grader rather than acting like a mature player and taking the time to learn the game.
@22: Funny how you've moved on from constantly playing the race card on every single article to reusing the Yun fanboys' arguments...
Yeah, my sentence structure sucks and type without looking at the keyboard - so I'm bound to make the odd error.
I just like getting straight to the point.
Besides, you don't need to write and speak like a scholar to be any good at these games - I mean, look at the damned community for god sake. About as diverse as you can get...
i'll take that 746 and raise you to 772
this guy made the video on launch day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUJWE9...
@23 Funny how after all this time you're still trolling.
@SAMURAI I knew you were below average intelligence but wow.
@#25
I god daaaaaamn, lol. Still raw ultra though...
This was already possible in 3S. Also the other link that had the Lunging Punch is better, since it creates another timing for the Kara Palm.
@26
this is the first time The Goddamn Master actually said something humorous and true. hes not the troll in this case. he was blowing up fireinthehole for always posting his retarded racial theories on why little to no people complained about guile. wait till another 3s article comes out to call TheGoddamnMaster out on a troll.
Meh, broken or not broken, it would be a cool way to finish some off, assuming they just allow themselves to be hit by the Ultra.
@31
"@26

Really? He "blew me up" or was it the other way around. Anyways, if you want to downplay my criticism of the hidden racist bias amongst many players of the Street Fighter community, then you'll have to do better than just blatantly saying that my "theories" are "retarded." Doing such only shows your immaturity.
What I've been trying to say is that A LOT of American SF players are biased because Guile is a White-American soldier so not many people complained about him when he was way OP in SSF4. But at the same time, many people are incessantly crying about Yun being top-tier in AE, and the fact that he's a Chinese skaterboy does play a part in why he's getting WAYY more hate than Cammy and Guile got in SSF4.
I stand by my claims that A LOT of players of the SF community are racist and nationalistic bias in favor of certain characters.
@8
Gen only does that kind of damage when he does Super > RESET > Ultra. He has to cross up with the Ultra for this to work, and it can be blocked if the opponent understands what is happening. Straight Super to full Ultra does like 500 damage. Given that Yun's doesn't require a reset, and is around 50% more powerful than Gen's non-reset version, it's relatively safe to call Yun's OP.
@23
Hahaha. This is too funny, every time I post something, you're always right behind me with a meaningless insult.
So let me ask you this. When did you decide that you will stalk me all over eventhubs?
Did I get underneath your skin when exposed the fact that many players of the SF-community were racially and nationalitically biased in favor of Guile and Cammy and you happened to be one of them?
And what do you mean by race card? Stating the obvious fact that some of the players are in fact bias on the basis of race and nationality? I decided to stop talking about that for a while, but if you want to get back on it then so be it.
@36
So what about Yun? The only two Yun players to win tournaments were Marn and Daigo, but then again, those two players were top-class professionals anyways. Well, compared to American players they are. Daigo barely practiced Guile for a month before trashing Mago's Fei Long at the Canada Cup. It's really not hard to see that Guile's OP when watching the matches between Mago and Dagio at the Canada Cup Finals.
On to another point, can you please provide me with any valid source that 95% of the players online in AE are Yun? And can you please provide valid source for the percentage of SSF4 players that were Guile? I'm asking you because you were the one who brought up the logic that most-used online characters were the most-OP.
@34
Dude, that is so stupid. Your inclusion of "White-American", when the best American players are African American or Asian takes a lot of credibility away from your argument. Further more, the idea that no-one complained that Cammy was top tier because of a "nationalistic bias" is again flawed because Cammy is English, not American. That, of course, could be racial, but again, a majority of the SF community is not white.
And Guile was never "way op", otherwise everyone would have used him and won every tourney. The only prominent Guiles I can think of are Dieminion and Lamerboi (and even then Lamerboi chokes up his big matches).
People aren't "crying about Yun" because he's Chinese.
Ugh, I apologise for feeding the trolls, EH... :(
@40
Dude. I've already talked about every single point that you've raised in past articles. But I'll be more than happy to take the time to debunk the same arguments all over again.
"Your inclusion of "White-American", when the best American players are African American or Asian takes a lot of credibility away from your argument."
You clearly changed the subject here. And plus the fact that the top American players are Asian and African American does nothing to to what I've said. What I said was that many people like the CHARACTER based on racist and nationalistic biases.
"Further more, the idea that no-one complained that Cammy was top tier because of a "nationalistic bias" is again flawed because Cammy is English, not American. That, of course, could be racial, but again, a majority of the SF community is not white."
Once again, people already tried to play the card of "Cammy is English not American." This is not a very good argument, first off all, A LOT of people in the US respects England above all other countries, aside from the United States, because England is considered the "mother country" of the US. And on the other note, what about racist bias. Racism and Nationalism sometimes are exclusive of one another.
I've already mentioned numerous times that from where I'm at, there are LOTS of neo-nazis who like to play Street Fighter. And amongst the neo-nazi street fighter players, Cammy is a favorite. Just look at Cammy's features and it'll be self-explanatory from there onwards.
I've been talking about this for quite a while now. So I'm really not sure why people keeps asking me the questions which I've already answered before:
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/ju...
Fireinthehole - while I'm not anti-Yun in the slightest, your first comment was completely unnecessary... and honestly, it was a stupid comment.
You called out people's intelligence because they disagree with you. Smart.
Secondly... please refrain from going into this "racism" bull *again*. It's ridiculous, and the theory you're working with is so full of holes its not even funny.
@43
I didn't change the subject, I quoted exactly what you said and provided a valid counter argument to it and I'll reiterate it. Unless you're perceiving 80% of the SF community as a cross between Uncle Tom and Unkle Ruckus you're not going to find a mass of non-whites biased towards whites.
Some, not a lot of people, may pick Guile because he's American, but that's in the same vein that a lot of people pick their home country in RTSs. Not via (what I'm assuming you're assuming is) sublimated racism. That or you're assuming people are picking Guile and thinking to themselves, "Yes! A white character, this will show all those minorities!"
As for your second point, I'm English myself, all the Americans that send me hatemail talk crap about England, so there's no "respect for the motherland", believe me. And not just in SF, I play a lot of online games with mic, every American talks crap when they hear my accent, it's far from uncommon.
With the whole "I know a lot of Neo-Nazis that play Street Fighter" idea mixed with "Guile doesn't get hate because he's Aryan" implies that you think almost all of the, I'll say this again, predominantly non-white, American Street Fighter scene are also Neo-Nazis.
@45
You say that my arguments are "full of holes"? This is quite funny due to the fact that you have shown that you are unable to understand and comprehend what other people wrote so clearly and so precisely.
You said this: "You called out people's intelligence because they disagree with you. Smart."
Now back in my first post here, post #22, I said this: "Isn't it funny that most of the anti-Yun crybabies have the worse grammar, spelling, and sentence structure? The fact that they can't even write a coherent sentence gives strong implication that they are of low level of intelligence and that their higher-thinking abilities, IQ, is low."
Now just so that you can understand for future references, I was calling them out because they have failed to write coherent sentences and that their posts were full of spelling and grammatical errors. Now that's a little bit different than saying that I call people out because they don't agree with me. Isn't it? :)
Please ban this ridiculous racism spouting drooler.
My nationality is White, Black, Puerto-Rican & Native American yet I am a Gouki Purist. Other than True and now Kuruoshiki Oni of course, there is no other who I choose. Btw, f*ck this broken sh*t and Top Tear Queers who act like they've used Yun and Yang since they were in diapers. Can point you out in a second during battle.
@50
"Please ban this ridiculous racism spouting drooler."
Looks like somebody's skin has been busted wide open.
fireinthehole reminds me of the white version of black people who say "ITS CAUSE IM BLACK RIGHT?" yea its a little bit different but brings the same type of annoyance.
Yun clearly has weaknesses that can be exploited by characters like Balrog/Abel/Zangief.
His most overpowered element in my opinion, is how easy he gets in for how much damage he deals (and it's easy to net if you're good). But, unless your execution is on point, you're not winning a tournament just because you pick him.
Hey fireinthehole, STFU. This isn't a racial problem, its a gameplay porblem. Never once did I have something againist a character due to their race or religion, I'd have something againist them if their overpowered. In this case, this may be Yun
@53
Pffft. Nice try there buddy: "No hate, but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people; you should make sure that your English is up to scratch as well."
Correction: "No hate, but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people then you should make sure that your English is up to scratch as well."
The semi-colon ";" is used to combined two different thoughts together the message that you conveyed to me in post #53 was obviously one of the commonly used "If....then..." statements. You don't just randomly insert a semi-colon ";" in the middle of an "If...then..." statement sparky.
Trying to look all intelligent and stuff by inserting a semi-colon randomly in the middle of a sentence? Epic Fail I must say.
@54
Can't hold yourself up in a legitimate argument so you resort to name calling instead. Ehhh.
Your just like those scrubs who can't beat Daigo or Justin Wong in a match and then resort to S--t talking Justin or Daigo behind their backs.
Guile wasn't OP, he doesnt have enough options to be OP.
Now he is a weak little donkey in AE.
A Female one too.
@61
name calling? if thats what that was then sorry. i also didnt feel like getting into an arguement with you seeing as your busy spreading the word with everyone else about the whole neo nazi stuff. i was just giving my opinion though.
btw I WILL BODY DAIGO. HES A LUCKY BITCH.
yea i can recall countless times where british people and americans have stupid arguements on games like Call of Duty and other shooters.
Most fighting game players are non-white, i.e. asian, black and latino. This is a statement of fact that can easily be verified by watching tournament streams and looking at a list of top players. Some people might use Floe as an example of a top player who's white, but he's actually jewish, which makes him a semite.
Anyway, the reason these non-whites never complain about overpowered white female characters like Cammy and C. Viper is because every race is attracted to beautiful white women. The reason they don't complain about Guile is because every race respects the blonde haired aryan archetype. For proof of this, look no father than the relationship between Japan and Germany in WW2. Also, when starving Africans are given charity, they're usually taking it from the hands of white people. In fact, white people are the ones spreading aid and relief to third world countries all over the world.
So I agree with the basic outline of fireinthehole's thesis, but his analysis is flawed. My guess is that his perception is colored by his ethnicity.
@63
Excuses, excuses, excuses. You trying to say that you don't have the time to write a legitimate argument but you have all the time in the world to make meaningless comments? Pffft. It's more like you avoid writing back because you just don't have the ability to write a good argument and then resort to talking smack.
Sort of like people who cannot beat Justin Wong in a game so they try and tell us that they don't want to waste 5 minutes from their worthless lives and then spend around 7 minutes talking trash.
Fireinthehole.... ..
more like... fireintheTROLL
*play audience laugh track*
@68
i like you bringin up all this daigo and justin scrubby talk behind their back stuff. i really dont get it. what does it have to do with me not replying to you. do you hate when people dont feed you for the troll you are?
P.S. I WILL BODY JUSTIN. HES A LUCKY BITCH WHO HAS NO LIFE BECAUSE IM NOT AS GOOD AS HIM!!! or something like that
"Pffft. Nice try there buddy:" -> "Pffft. Nice try there, buddy:"
You need to have a colon to separate your sentence from an object. It's like if you're trying to say something to the OP of a thread in a forum. You'd say something like "I disagree with you, OP." Rather than "I disagree with you OP". Or "Cool story, bro." Rather than "Cool story bro."
The semi-colon ";" is used to combined two different thoughts together the message that you conveyed to me in post #53 was obviously one of the commonly used "If....then..." statements. You don't just randomly insert a semi-colon ";" in the middle of an "If...then..." statement sparky.
Actually, a semi-colon can be used to link two independent, but closely related clauses. Also, "statement sparky" should be "statement, sparky."
" but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people;" - Statement 1.
" you should make sure that your English is up to scratch as well." - Statement 2.
That's a legitimate use of semi-colons. Both statements can be said independently. But they're also closely related, as both share a similar meaning. It isn't necessary, but it isn't wrong either.
"Epic Fail I must say." -> "Epic fail, I must say."
Don't comment on other people's comma usage if you can't use it yourself.
I don't care about being a Grammar Nazi. Like I said, nobody is perfect. But you are in no position to comment on another person's English unless your English is also perfect.
I can admit that my English isn't perfect, but I don't make a big deal out of it, unless a Grammar Nazi decides to make as many common errors.
Fire In the Hole is Nazi in anyway lol (Grammar Nazi and a Racist.)
First of all, I'm Swiss so excuse my grammar.
Actually anyone who see's Asians, Blacks, Latinos, Whites and so on, as a different RACE is a racist. They're all humans. We are all humans.
Sure there's a pola bear and a brown bear and a grizzly bear but they're all bears, right? So wtf, shut up and enjoy life.
To the character whinning.
I play:
Cammy
Sakura
Makoto
Evil Ryu
and I hate:
El Fuerte
Vega
Blanka
Fei Long
and Zangief.
But I don't hate them because they're either Russians or Asians (I effin LOVE, really LOVE Zangiefs accent, it's so fun!). I hate them because they're fcuking annoying to play against.
I also did not chose my main because of the looks, I chose Cammy as a main because of her offensive, rushdown gameplay.
I also dropped her in AE and switched to Sakura because she's more fun to play.
I also tried to play Dee Jay and Dhalsim but with no success, so I did stop it again.
Btw 772 Dmg is just broken.
Makoto's Max is about 683 but with Super and Abare Tosanami.
Sakuras Max is about 630 (dunno it exactly).
E Ryus Max is 683 (3 Meter and a full U2).
None of these characters get over 700 like Yun does.
I don't think ANYONE gets over 700 except Yun. Well sure you can do resets and stuff but no one gets 700 as a COMBO.
@74
Wrong there, buddy. You said this:
"Actually, a semi-colon can be used to link two independent, but closely related clauses.
It isn't necessary, but it isn't wrong either."
You can try to sound all smart and stuff, but when you're only making yourself look more like a fool. Those two statements: "but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people" and "you should make sure that your English is up to scratch as well" are not independent of one another.
The first statement: ""but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people" is not a complete thought, so thus it cannot be used alone. Your only supposed to use a semi-colon if the two statements being separated can stand alone as complete sentences, and your first statement is clearly a fragment when it stands alone.
This is what you originally wrote in post #53: "No hate, but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people; you should make sure that your English is up to scratch as well."
The first half before the semi-colon is a fragment, not a complete sentence when it stands by itself. Just try reading it yourself:
"No hate, but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people."
How is does that qualify as a complete sentence? Answer: It doesn't, which means that your usage of the semi-colon was out of place.
The statement: ""No hate, but if you're going to make comments about the English writing skills of other people" is not independent because it does not represent a complete thought.
Now if you want to defend yourself and make yourself seem like the smart one, then at least make sure that you were correct. No shame admitting mistakes, but trying to make it seem like you're correct when you are obviously wrong will only make you look like an idiot.
Let me start off by saying I do NOT play Yun. Now that I have that out of the way, I have to say I think the twins get to much respect. They're great for sure top tier, but not the best in my opinion. I think Fei without a doubt is at the top, which is unfortunate because I played him since vanilla when he was considered garbage. I remember getting comments saying, "Man your Fei's a beast!" now I get comments such as, "TIER WHOOOORE". Which sucks because Fei has always been one of my "Main's" since SF2, he was the one who got me into using "rekka" based characters as my mains such as Karin. Now the original point of this post is I wanted to say, yes this is powerful no doubt about it. HOWEVER, do not think this is for any reason OP several other characters have super to ultras that take far less skill and do equal damage. Makoto has her super to ultra combos and so does gen which equally all factor out to the same range of 650-800 damage. I'm just tired of people think that the twins are perfect, they're not. They're missing a ton of tools, Yun's anti air game is garbage his SRK misses a lot of the time and is punishable for days. His dive kicks are pretty overwhelming but a lot of characters have normals that beat them out, Makoto for one had St. MP. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're not top tier but everyone acts like they're S+, they are A grade no more no less.
@81: Yes, Yun and Cammy truly are in the same tier.
YO ENGLISH!!!!!
@84
the way it became an argument about racism is because fireinthehole has brought this up in the past and someone in these comments mentioned it. i dont remember who but you can look back if your curious or whatever.
@86
So you say that we cannot comment about others at a task if we are not 100% perfect on the certain task? Nice logic there. If we all go by that logic, then there would be no such thing as criticism at all because the sad truth is that no one is perfect at anything, there's always that scratch worth of mistake.
BTW, if you listen to the commentaries made by UltraDavid, Skisonic, Chris Hu, etc... Those guys comments on the mistakes made by players all the time. Mistakes such as executional errors, wrong guesses, lose of patience, etc...
Now do you think that those commentators are 100% perfect at their gameplay with no execution errors, no wrong guesses??? I don't think so.
I never said that my English is perfect, but any fair person would easily recognize that my posts contain way more structured use of the English language than some of the other posters here.
Besides, if you say that one shouldn't criticize other people's writings unless he's perfect at English himself, then that'll make you a hypocrite. How does that make you a hypocrite you may ask?
Well, in post #74, you criticized me for making a minor error in forgetting to place a comma. You criticized me when you made a much larger mistake by randomly putting a semi-colon where it does not belong. Not only that, but you refused to admit mistake and tried to defend something that was obviously wrong as proved in post #80.
Yun is ridiculous. An emo skater boy that hit like a truck, stupid-range command grab, safe block strings, safe palm from across the screen, stupid dive kick, ridiculous strong ultras, dragon kick.
Wow yeah, he is balanced, he only has 900 health...............
Why WHY WHY capcom put up those two stupid twins in the game? They were far far away from being fan favorites, in every pool, in every site the favorites or being added in the game were Alex, Rolento, Urien and Karin. But no, they put two stupid emo twins(lord just look at Yang, he looks like a Justin Bieber wanna be), an akuma clone and the only interesting one, Oni.
@92 The rampant complaints about things being broken don't help either.
Also #93 doesn't get that his opinion isn't a socially accepted fact. What's with stupid people these days?
@95
i know what you mean by that but it wasnt just his opinion. i do remember reading the names Alex Rolento R.mika Karin and Urien a lot. even Elena Hugo Sodom. but you rarely heard Yun and Yang even though there were SOME calls for them. and anyone asking for Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma were just straight scrubs and the majority of people disagreed with them.
@93 This thread is for racist trolls/idiots screaming at the top of their lungs to distract from discussion of game balance. You're obviously not welcome here.
@ 57 Arcana Heart has been delayed until mid August. Arcana Heart was half of the reason I didn't purchase A.E. After seeing this corner trapping bull, I'm glad I saved my money.
@92
Maybe it's because some of the moderators here disagree with your opinion of me being "stupid."
Besides, the way that you just randomly call out others as "stupid" or "smart" without giving any backup evidence shows that you are the real idiot here.
@98
"@93 This thread is for racist trolls/idiots screaming at the top of their lungs to distract from discussion of game balance. You're obviously not welcome here."
Correction: This thread is for those salty cry-babies who would much rather complain about the twins rather than learning the game. Aside from the salty cry-babies complaining about Yun, there are also people here who are trying to raise awareness about the fact that many players do have a racist and nationalistic bias for why they hate Yun, but they were perfectly fine with Guile and Cammy being OP in SSF4.
@93
"They were far far away from being fan favorites,"
Yea, I'm pretty sure that you are a good representation of all Street Fighter fans.
The endless refrain of the worthless drooler: YOU'RE JUST WHINING!!! no matter how much concrete evidence and expert experienced is accumulated. Top it off with even more idiotic claims of racism to definitively prove you should be banned and ignored.
@fireinthehole
So I am black and attend an Ivy League institution. On these forums, nobody really cares about grammar and it really should not matter since this is not an academic setting.
I hate it when a fellow brother is ignorant and tries to link intelligence with the way people write on a forum. Newsflash! Short script has become a part of our society that even geniuses use it for comfort. Get over your hypersensitivity and get a life man. You give racial minorities a bad name. Yes, I am generalizing because sadly, the oppressor universalizes the experiences of racial minorities.
