Marvel vs. Capcom 3: How to one-shot Phoenix with multiple characters

God-is-my-Rock put together a terrific tutorial on how to one-shot Phoenix/Dark Phoenix in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The video below does a really good job explaining how the whole transformation process works and how its properties can be maneuvered around to kill off Dark Phoenix very quickly.

In case you didn't know, if you kill her on the ground, you can go into Raging Demon with Akuma immediatly to kill Dark Phoenix (DHC or not).

Not sure of the range though.

Endgame, that doesn't work unfortunately because she can raw tag which is invincible on frame 1 :/

#2, yea its good for She-hulk players (there are a lot so thats good) Spider-man is pretty rare actually, Super Skrull is semi-rare.

But still nice stuff, seems very hard to do though but its something new anyways. Also even if it isn't timed a 100% I can see it being hard to avoid anyways

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't Hulk do this with Gamma Crush? It's invincible on startup, so if he does it just before the transformation... Seems like a good OTG setup given that she levitates at that angle.

Even if people figure out solid ways to beat Dark Phoenix there's still Wolverine and X-Factor being stupidly overpowered.

Great video - it was just a matter of time before people figured out how to take out DP. All it took was Tokido to piss people off enough to hit the lab intensely. Probably more strategy to come out before EVO, enough that I bet a non-DP team will win it in Vegas.

Just kill her, for god sakes if your mixups are not on point to take out regular Phoenix befor DP happens what makes you think you will catch her while shes transforming

I don't play MvC3 anymore, but this a damn good video on how to deal with Phoenix. Maybe this'll stop her from running so rampant all over the place. Good stuff.

If you guys think that this one bit of information is going to kill phoenix, you aren't the brightest o.o

the most valuable one is Spideys, but nobody uses him...

The she hulk one will probably get some use, but I think you guys forget that most Phoenix players just chill out in the air throwing air fireballs all day, half the time I've killed them its from a stray hit or a super.....really, this is exciting and will change things up a bit, but she will still be a cheap b#itch

No one's denying that Phoenix won't be a bitch even with this strategy, but at the same time, it would help stop her from being so dominant. And maybe people will pick up Spidey because of this. It's not like he doesn't have potential.

Nice video looks like i need to put Spidey back in my team, used to main him in MVC2 I just really hate the input for the webswing, I'm no rookie gamer but for some reason i always have issues with reverse dragon punch inputs. Prob cause i'm a pad player lol. Also She-Hulks is pretty straight forward but with a smaller window of opportunity.

I haven't seen very many she-Hulk players but then again i haven't played the game online for a month or two perhaps things have changed?

Yea alot of things changed online. Once them tournaments started going in full swing you started seeing many similar teams online (attempting) to emulate set ups and combos that you see in the weekly tournaments. Used to never see she hulk really the first 2 months when the game came out, nowadays shes in about 70% of teams online same for the wolvy/akuma combo, magneto loop>dhc glitchers etc. etc. etc.

I find it amazing how many people actually watch videos and try to do what others are doing. Thought i would run into a bunch of casuals that dont follow the streams and videos much, but it seems like everyone is on the same page when it comes to mvc3 atleast. Oddly enough dont see the same high percentage of copycats in ssf4AE yet(but ill give that a month or so)

Wow, that's some bs right there. If I have the skill to get 5 bars with Phoenix I shouldn't have to worry about some random scrub killing her before I even get a chance to use her. Too broken. Capcom need to patch that out.

Two things. One: random scrubs aren't going to be able to pull these off. Spider-Man's is the easiest one to set up and it still requires fairly precise timing. The other two are very situational.
Two: Dark Phoenix herself is broken. If anything, you should be thankful for this video proving that SHE doesn't need to be patched.

@32 the only time it takes skill to get DP is when your not playing a random scrub. In the same way your opponent fears DP and tries to kill phoenix off as fast as possible you should be looking to snap-back the character with the air throw and kill them off as fast as possible. It's 100% fair game.
