Yoshroni Ono stated that the balance with the Capcom fighters in Street Fighter X Tekken isn't carried over from the SF4 series. He said that the development team essentially started from scratch, adding that the characters should feel significantly different than they do in SF4.The rule change isn't just a gesture to the Tekken side of the roster, however. It was a "very deliberate" system implemented to affect the strategy of the game. "Basically," he said, "the whole purpose behind the single-character knockout is we want people to think very strategically about which character they're using and which character they have on deck, so to speak." Ono actually hinted that there was even more to the single-character knockout system, "further details" and "other options and things you can do with that later this year," which Capcom will bring up at Comic-Con, a show that the publisher always attends in force.
New game, new balance. Cool
Also the characters that were not in SF4 that I would most like to be in this game would be R.Mika, Eagle, and Alex. Other characters are cool, too, but those are my most favorite characters to be put in.
(Ryu will feel different? yeah, ok, sure.
Anyway: here's the secret- when your char dies and you have 3 bars and haven't hurt/used your other char, they power up:
Crisco Hakan, Evil Ryu, Grown-up Sakura, Mugen Akuma, Guile's Theme Guile, Devil Jin, Death By Degrees Nina, Furry King, etc.)
@4
how would u put those character in before the rest of the world warriors? Sf4 had the bulk of the sf favorites so theres nothing really left. ANd when u consider that slots are limited for the game i really dont think that he can take a chance and put in some weaker/less popular character, ie put in hakan over zangief.
Really hope they balance this game like MvC3 (Balance by Imbalance)
What I like the most about Marvel is that no one sucks. Everyone has some type of edge and a thing that makes them very good.
Other than that the obvious inclusions to this game (From SF) are going to be: E.Honda, Blanka, Dhalsim, Balrog, Vega, M.Bison, Fei Long.
Ono also mentioned (Recent, but forgot when exactly) that there are going to be some surprising inclusions from sf in this. My guess is some 3rd strike and Alpha chars.
He said "characters external to SF and Tekken." WTF? Are we talking about different Capcom and Namco characters?
C'mon now Ono.... I was on board with "ONE" non, SF/Tekken character, but this isn't Capcom X Namco.
I wanted to see SF battle Tekken. Not MegaMan X PacMan!
Please don't turn this into a BS battle royal. Just bring in cool SF's and Tekken characters!
Anyone agree? Sorry for crying :(
From what ive seen, they took away the nerfs that AE handed out so that noone sucks
I hated the single player knock out system of tekken.
But in time got use to it in tekken tag.
Agree mostly to all of you this is not like mvc3.
where you could just add any character and put some
flashy hyper...
We want a pure arcade fighting game.
Where ryu and jin battle in its sf4 engine glory.
Stop making this like namco x capcom.
When they added cole i was a bit bored by the game.
@20 >A bit bored by the game even though the game isn't released
Don't confuse yourself with everybody else. YOU want a pure arcade fighting game. I want a game that is fun. When it comes down too it, it matters if the game is fun or not, not tourny material. Let the game be like NamcoXCapcomXOther People, As long as it is enjoyable i'll be happy even if they added pac-man or Arthur again.
Doctrine Dark and Garuda and Dictator II.
Those would be some sexy "guest" characters, as we haven't seen them in a while.
I'd be hyped if we can see some Dudley vs Chris Fox and Fei Long vs Law! or either of them on the same team! lol c'mon Dudz!
@21@22
I disagree with both of you. The SF4 engine is awesome! They captured everything that was great about SF2 and 3, plus re-created the hand drawn art that makes SF great in polygons.
The three year old game is still the BEST on the market, and should go down in history as one of the greatest fighting games of all time. Not to mention it single handedly revived fighting games!
And IMO the game does NOT need odd characters like Arthur or Q-Bert!
You've already got MvsC3, let us have SFxT.
I seriously believe we will see Elene return in this game =)
It looks so cool, and I am excited for it(hopefully on PC too)I just dont want a "everyone is the same" type of game. Like everyone does the same combos, similar damage, etc. I prefer more mixup and replay value, I feel SF4 has very much variety in the character uniqueness. Deep options are good!
@25
no, the engine sucks. Why? Well, whats the biggest complaint about sf4? Its too defensive, and all that comes from the engine itself.
Alpha 2 is hands down the best engine. It took what sf2 established and added to it. The one and only thing that it needs is guard meter but even so its perfect without it.
The art style is all up to personal opinion. FOr me if i had to choose between sf4 art and kof13, well ill stick with hand drawn sprites.
@27
seriously give it up with the pc releases. Capcom isnt into piracy and with the time u guys spend waiting/beging for a pc release u could just pick up an xbox/ps3 which by the way are geting cheaper and cheaper as time goes by.
Agree with 25 - SF4 is and will always be great.
This other dude is just being a negative nancy. If you been here on EH as long as I have you know that I dont give up on PC, and Capcom shouldn't either. :D
I agree that hand drawn sprites were the only way to go before SF4. Polygon just never captured the life that was in the art (EX Series).
But SF4 changed that. The game looks identical to the artist renders. Sf4 is a living, breathing piece of art.
I also like Alpha2's engine. Won't argue their. But the FA system and FCancel combo system takes the creation level in SF4 and raises the bar to a whole new level!
Guess we'll disagree on this one.
@ 30
That's pretty clever...4 buttons. srcsm
Im guessing YOU DONT USE ASSISTS?
It's a 6-button game 'GENIUS'!!
Assist 1 and 2 are MANDATORY buttons used at certain times just like any other strength.
BTW REAL 4 button games are Tekken and King of Fighters.
What's ur point anyway. If it was 5 buttons you would whine too. If it was 7 you would have a seizure!
Basically...SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT TRIVIAL THINGS esp. when YOU'RE WRONG!
NOTHING IS PERFECT!!
@25 I never said anything about me wanting them to add a bunch of characters, I said I DID NOT CARE if they did. And Sf4 is way too defensive to me. Its not bad at all, but I hope SfxTekken is more offensive then defensive. I might just have to switch to TekkenxSf if that game is faster paced.
SF4 engine
-shortcuts
-1 Frame Reversal Window
-Auto Correct
-Auto Block
-Higher Floaty Jumps
Hell yeah the SF4 engine sucked major ass, especially the whole mashing while blocking leading to positive results. Reminds me of DOA's counter system where players mash back+counter while getting hit helps them escape rushdown.
I heard SFxT has shortcuts, but since the game look like it has effective Block Strings (THANK GOD!!!) that won't really matter.
Put in Jake Sully from Avatar!!!
In his Navi (Avatar) body that is.
If there is no Zangief i'm not buying, as long as he is in they can do whatever else they want to the game :)
So what blessed few fighters is he going to deliberately overpower this time?
My guess? He's bringing back Ingrid and making her SSS tier.
"Ono actually hinted that there was even more to the single-character knockout system, "further details" and "other options and things you can do with that later this year,""
Am I the only one that reads that as - "There will be certain "Giant" characters that you will only be able to pick one character if you pick them"?
@chickenwings
SF2 >>>>>> Alpha
SF2 was way more popular than Alpha (although HD remix killed the current scene)
@32
Ok, u must not play on an hd screen or something. The 3d models look NOTHING like the character art. Its almost laughable.
the fadc system would be good if it worked for EVERYONE. Majority of the cast has no reason to fadc outside of makeing a move safe and with dmg scaleing goin for the monster combos is a waste of time.
@41
like i said, the engine is better. Has nothing to do with popularity. ANd then again alpha 2 could have been more popular if it had a better cast and wasnt replaced immediately by alpha 3.
@11 chickenwings
You do know that the game doesn't have to have all 8 world warriors in the game don't you? The game is tekken x sf and people are getting tired of seeing the WW especially since they are already in sf4. There's also other characters that are liked just as much as the WW like rolento,sakura,karin,alex etc. All of the WW won't make the game count on it. Besides its not like he said that those characters should get in over the WW's.
@44
The best thing capcom does is build the cast around the ww's like sf4 did. Have the ww's(we already have 4 of them in, just get the last 4), along with cammy,sagat, and abel. U need a boss character and thats bison(we have 12). Now u can take 1 or 2 characters from each of the past sf games covering sf alpha,3 and 4. BUt in the end the ww's are too important to leave out.
In reality this game should be pushing close to 50 characters like cvs2 did. No fei long? No balrog? thats gonna be too hard for alot of people to swallow. but o well. The cast is gonna make or break this game.
Look nothing like the character art? Wtf are you talking about!?! The artist renders, like the gallery in SF4 are identical!
The select screen portraits are repaintes of IN GAME MODELS! I cannot believe you'd start bashing the graphics of SF4! You must be Nuts!
Maybe you thought the EX models hit closer to the mark?
Man, I'm loving this balance. From now on, I'm going to complete Arcade Mode with these characters from SSFIV that are in Street Fighter X Tekken. It's my new shtick. I hope Yun and Yang make it to Street Fighter X Tekken. We currently have Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Abel, Guile, Sagat, and Cammy. Hope you like my shtick.
So does this mean that the SF characters are now equally in par with the balance of the Tekken characters?
Give me my Karin!
