Guaranteed Spider-Man kill on Dark Phoenix in Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Tab and Niddhogg posted videos on how to perform an inescapable kill on Phoenix/Dark Phoenix in MvC3 after landing Spider-Man's Maximum Spider hyper. It requires X-Factor and having enough meter to get his Ultimate Web Throw out there as well afterwards.

Niddhogg explained that Dark Phoenix's transformation is invincible all the way through. After Maximum Spider, she transforms right above the ground. Spider-Man's Ultimate Web Throw has 3 frames of startup after the super flash, and if timed right the startup before the flash is done while she's transforming. Therefore, Phoenix has 3 frames before the Ultimate Web Throw grabs her. Her teleport has 10 frames of startup so she cannot teleport to escape.

If not timed correctly, Phoenix can teleport out of this setup. Here are a few videos showing the setup in action.

I wish somebody recorded the casuals for the recent Wednesday Night Fights at UCI.

Phoenix was actually inexplicably killed as she was transforming (super bars got drained and effects happened - except for the cutscene). I believe it was the secondary explosion of the other Phoenix players' Shot that negated the transformation...

@3 Hope that was some bad trollin' because the only way you can do something easier than what spidey was doing is putting in a DP suicide button on your controller...Pretty straightforward stuff here.

#3 spiderman doesnt have a level 3. spending 2 meters and xfactor to kill DP imo is worth it.

In the first video Phoenix is spamming teleport and is unable to get out of this. It's possible that this can be escaped in some other way, but it hasn't been found yet. So far, this looks like a guaranteed setup — when timed correctly.

I just don't get why the fanbase wanted Super MvC3. Why do they want that game that don't exist? It goes for Street Fighter, not other fighting games. It would be better if they make MvC 4. However, I'm part of the MvC 3 fanbase, but not waiting for Super MvC 3. I'm also a part of the Mortal Kombat 9 fanbase and wanted Ultimate Mortal Kombat 9. where it will have more characters, stages, and features from the previous Mortal Kombat games including Hara-Kiris.

One more thing on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 9. There will be Team X-rays, 3 on 3 battles mode, and the special character from Mortal Kombat Deception: Shujinko.

Don't you ave to be grounded to tag out? If DP was grounded, UWT wouldn't be an issue.

Like eclipsekirby mentioned, you have to be on the ground to tag out. Dark Phoenix is not on the ground when she transforms, which is why ultimate web-throw destroys her.

I think this was already know, there is a video of a spiderman doing the ultimate web throw called "how do I shot ressurection".

This site hosted that video back then. But someone afterwards showed that Dark Phoenix could teleport out of that setup. These videos are more about showing how to prevent the teleport and guarantee a kill

Just doing some checking up on the JAP community and peeps, we ain't got $#!T on these guys when it comes to Phoenix. I see how we use her, we they basically DONT use her until we have 5 bars and then try and still not use her till we have only her left...then XFactor and try and bat cleanup.

From what I've been seeing..they use her to link INBETWEEN combos to kill characters THEN bring her back out safely. This way shes impossible to be touched when she's in play. Also they're actually doing regular combos with her original form....NOT only keep-away crap that I see when I see her used online in our community. Not saying that mans don't know how to use her, don't get it twisted....but mans just don't have the balls to even try these combos unless they get snapped in or they just have no choice cause there's no teammates left on the screen to help.

#28 You do realize you just posted two combo videos right? As in, it in no way means people are taking the risk of actually using her any different than she's used here.

Besides, no one wants to use her outside of DP, because they aren't trying to catch a card for throwing a match....
