I swear how does Capcom give the twins a move like Palm strike which pretty much stops everything in the game and builds a crazy amount of meter.
I wonder if this works with stuff like Akumas Zanku Hadoken, like the now-patched Bison U1 glitch, which is very similar to this. If not, that probably means palm counts as a physical hit, and maybe there's other ultras you can trade out of this way now.
@ firkraag
Being a tester myself, I whole-heartily agree that this man should be part of the crew. But it probably wouldn't work in his favor. because honestly Capcom had a vision of how they wanted AE to play out and no amount of bugs found by desk while on the job, unless game-breaking would be fixed. And to top it off if Desk ever got tired of his time at Capcom he would not be allowed to make any more glitch videos without risk of some legal action being placed on him. Desk is better off staying off the payroll.
Just so everyone else knows, Desk did not discover this glitch. It's been around on nico douga [Japanese site] for a while now. He just recorded his own version.
@11
You need to understand that people love kissing up to people and worshiping them...
Desk has being putting out stuff that's already out there but is treated as the discoverer and all around genius when he is just another guy with a computer looking up stuff and has the execution to replicate it for all his worshipers...
Justin Wong also has this facade , just watch how James Chen looks for every opportunity to link what someones doing with Justin Wong.....
If you read Catalyst`s description correctly, it says that "Desk recorded" it for everyone to check out.
It does not state that Desk found it, or that he claims to have done.
There is no need to either big up or diss Desk for this video.
I`m just glad I got to see it. It`s quite amusing
isnt this a bit like rose's U2 where if you press a button you get hit? the only exception is that the super doesnt were off when he gets hit! I DEMAND A TOTAL NERF OF THIS SUPER AND MAKE IT 0+7 ON STARTUP AND THAT IT CAN BE CANCELLED BY MEATY ATTACKS
AE has been out since about December for the arcade release so this is probably not new at all.
Also, regarding to this, it was bound to happen because it was discovered VERY early that the palm strikes hotboxes have properties of projectiles which makes this glitch pretty similar to the Akuma air fireball and Bison ultra 1 glitch or any iteration of it (rose I think has one?)
just involves an animated ultra with a projectile that cancels the person out of the ultra
well, classifying it as a projectile implies that the active frames of the palm strike is separate from the character itself. This concept is shown more easily in a real projectile such as a fireball, after it leaves the character's body it becomes a moving hitbox on its own that is independent of the character's movement (such as a slow rose fireball or slow guile fireball that lets the character move after it is launched). Tsu83 you are right, but its also about the timing of it. Palm startup frames > Ultra invincible active frames > palm active frames > ultra connect > ultra invincible frames disappear > palm connects.
long active frame is a factor but the important thing is that its a projectile so it can stay active even after the character is hit out of it
Whats with the James Chen bashing? WoW!, I don't know him personally but from hearing him commentate I don't get the sense that he is bias. I think what it is, is that he respects a lot of the top players who have or are dominate in the scene today. I will say at times it seems like maybe he gives out too much respect to the top players, but James is very knowledgeable about the games and the players. Just Saying.
Guys, guys, guys, it's not the Palm Strike's weird hitbox causing this. If you notice, he does Seiei Enbu first. It's the Seiei Enbu clone's Palm Strike that hits the opponent out of U1. Since Ultra 1 was done after the first strike and before the clone's Palm, the assaulting Yang got hit by the palms of the clone, knocked off the screen, but since contact was made, the winning Yang went through the motions of the Ultra.
OH MAI GAWD DESK NEEDS TO BEE HIR3D RITE NOW DERP DERP. HE IS LEIK TEH MASTUR @ FINDING THIS ST00F. IF HE NO HIRED, IMMA HERP AND DERP TO MY HEARTS CONTENT.
ALSO HE SHOULD GO TO A TOURNAMENT, DERP. HE HAS COMBOS THAT ARE SOOOO SICK AND HE WILL KILL HALF UR HEALTH WITH ONE COMBO. OH MAI GOD DESK DESK DESK DESK DESK!
DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP DERP
@29 this is true, but it still is unusual because cinematic ultras are typically fully invincible after the first hit. I wonder if Ken's U1 would work with this glitch or if it is a bug in the invincibility frames of Yang's U1.
Maybe it has something to do with the hits connecting simultaneously IE the original Ken U1 glitch from vanilla.
Or if it has something to do with the KO itself, as in, normally Yang would just get a trade or even block after the whiffed palm strike, but since the opponent was ko'ed, he was unable to block and the ultra animation continued. I DUNNO
Then again, Yang has probably the slowest confirmation of any Ultra I've ever seen.
Lol...just play the game.
When I first started playing AE something dumb happened where I ended up going through someone with my ultra and their ultra went through me. Believe me, weird stuff happens a lot. A lot of players probably are too lazy to report it. lol
i was stoned while watching this and decided i needed to make an account for the sole reason of saying that looked awesome... loved it
As much as his combo videos are entertaining to watch and all, this man has no life. I wonder how much trolling it took to find this. Not to mention it's unusefulness in a real match.
He's a great combo vid maker, but that's about it. I'd be better off looking high level rog - honda matches which make much more sense from a logical standpoint than this. Downback all day son!
@41:
"this man has no life"
"I'd be better off looking high level rog - honda matches"
Funny how you bash others for having no life, yet spend your free time looking for matches of other players.
It's what Desk enjoys. Now he has to take s**t for that?
ROFL man i never thought id see this kinda thing in SF4, common Capcom now we really need a patch hahaha
@47
Well it has SOME effect. In the Yang mirror match, if Yang A supers and does palm, and Yang B does U1, Yang B won't get full damage, but gets a free punish combo.
But yeah, that's not worth patching, especially considering the hilarity more than makes up for it
Damn that's a VERY Specific glitch:
-A.Corner only
-B.Yang A has to have super
-C.Yang A has to activate and then do palm strikes before
-D.Yang B can do ultra animation
-E. Only if yang A timed this right would
-F. Yang A hit with palm strike just as he gets hit with the strike that leads into the animation
That is really weird.
