Would be nice if I had the option to pick jean grey with 820,000 health and No dark phoenix.
It would have been alot quicker to type L,L,L,L,L,L,L,L,L, instead.
I havent even seen that Tokido match yet either but I saw his team and yeah...no respect at all for that team!
As much as people like to think we've barely scratched the surface of MVC3, I beg to differ. Phoenix teamed with any two random characters is the end game. Eventually everyone will use her except the most prideful players that want to stick with their guns.
People say stop crying about the character and figure something out. But that's just it, there is nothing to figure out. There's only three options, snap her in and try and kill her, try to time her out, or go for a hail mary super when she transforms.
Something I've noticed when I play against Phoenix is that I don't play as solidly as I normally do. That's because I get so fixated with killing Phoenix I forget about other things and get my ass kicked. I feel that's why Justin lost to Tokido, he was so worried about killing Phoenix he couldn't play his game. He was dropping combos and easily getting opened up. Honestly I think that's Phoenix's greatest strength is her ability to completely change a players mindset during the match.
and the ability to completely change a players team & team synergy around. Just to add on to what you said #9 i'm with you on this one.
If i had proper video recording equipment i could show folks my way of killing phoenix on a snap in that is basically guaranteed. Dormammu can chip kill her flawlessly before she touches the ground and before she can teleport. Floating bomb>xfc>meteor shower XX floating bomb, and fill in time with purification. She hulk seems to be pretty good for setting up dormammu with her command grab, it allows him to raw tag in do a powerup and then do a combo that allows him to get the next 2 powerups for meteor shower before the otg into snap back.
Also the use of floating bomb if you catch her grounded, DHC into C.viper..Xfc and use a fully charged focus attack while shes in blockstun. 1 combo will kill her.
Taskmaster DHC into his counter ultra can be used too while floating bomb is out and use his unblockable move while shes in blockstun. People in general havent been able to push block C.viper using focus or tasky unblockable move due to dormammus super hitting first.
My last gamble move i use if the phoenix team lost 2 people and phoenix still doesnt have full meter when she the last one to come in and i dont have enough meter for the dormammu chip death.
Is doing floating bomb Xfactor hard tag into skrull and immediately go for anti air command throw while shes ready to float in. Usually if they go for the fireball coming in to stay above the bomb coming in they get snagged out the air, comboed>death. Or if they choose to block mid air, i go for for a cross up meteor smash into inferno and hope she dies.

What about combofiend? Or Wong? Or any of the top players that constantly win Tournies WITHOUT phoenix? You are doing what you stated in your statement. Crying. Maybe you should watch them play and see what they are doing to beat phoenix. People playing different because phoenix is on their team? Maybe they aren't as good as they thought or needs more practice against her.
InitialR the problem most see is that a Phoenix team won Powerup, Montreal 8, Revalations, and Ceo, final round and UFGT7 were the only majors that come to mind without phoenix team as first.
Top players can of course put up a fight against her but results don't lie.
However what i dislike most about phoenix is how much it changes about the game being played. Watching Combofiend play footsies on a vertical and horizontal plane against mike ross in "Running Sets" or whatever it's called, is high level marvel and what marvel should be at a high level. With phoenix in the last slot on any team the game we enjoy watching is no longer being played at least just imo. :(
My take on phoenix is she is a high risk high reward character which isnt a problem. The thing that I think makes Phoenix seem so strong is because once she becomes DP you are essentially forced into the same exact situation as the DP player. You both start playing a game where one mistake kills but the odds are in her favor. The one thing I would like to see opponents do against phoenix is save meter to set up situations so they can try to chip her to death before she gets 5 meters.
Small jab at Tokido with that description?
