Capcom's Christian Svensson had a dialogue with the fans at E3 2011 and a transcript of the notable details for fighting game fans has been compiled below.• Capcom said their robust fighting game lineup in the future will of course include Street Fighter (likely referring to SFxT), but it will also include other franchises as well. This was the response when asked about Darkstalkers. Definitely doesn't confirm a Darkstalkers game, but other franchises are definitely coming for their fighting game lineups.
• Christian said Capcom isn't likely to continue the Street Fighter 3 series, a 4th Strike, as SF4 has been the focus, but he'll never say never. He did say again, Capcom has a very robust fighting game lineup planned, though.
• Svensson said he hit various forums a lot for what they ended up putting in Street Fighter 3 Online Edition. Citing again that your feedback DOES matter.
• SF3 OE on the PC hasn't been ruled out, but Svensson said the specific challenge there is overcoming the pirating on that platform, as people have been playing it for free for a long time.
• Svensson said he couldn't talk about GGPO being in SFxT right now, but added Ono has some things to talk about networking with SFxT later on down the line.
• GGPO implementation is a case-by-case basis, but at the end of the day it's the producer's call. GGPO needs to be a consideration from the start of development to be implemented properly, it's not just a copy and paste code implementation.
• Sven said again that MvC3 didn't have some of the same features as the SF4 series cause they can't copy and paste code over, it has to be rewritten.
• No new fighting games right now for the Wii said by Sven, sorry guys.
• It's possible they could do a poll on Capcom-Unity in the future for costume designs for SFxT.
• Asked about the quality of the movies, Capcom said the movies are not 100% in their control, because they license out their stuff, but a lot of the movie development is in the hands of the production companies they sign over to the rights to.
• Sven said there will be more stuff that appeals to the fans for live action stuff, similar to Street Fighter Legacy. There's been discussion about it internally.
lol at "4th" strike. why wud they even consider making a sequel to a prequel. 3rd strike online is fine as it is, no need to even "consider" a sequel to it.
oh and as for the costumes for sf x tekken, i think it wud be fair if capcom included 2 costumes per character ready in the game, like in tekken. it wud suck if they make us buy the secondary costumes of tekken characters, considering they're default in tekken.
Sega vs Capcom
Megaman and PacMan as characters for SFxT.
lol they listen to the forums when it comes to stupidity. Thats why we got evil ryu. Lets not do something that alot of people complain about like geting rid of the short cuts and low teching(watching ono play sfxtekken vita at e3 and mash the shortcuts really made me sick).
For the love of god please give us another rival schools game
@6, ok wot ever. i've never really followed the story of sf
closely so i didnt really kno dat.
@8, with a user name like dat, i think its pretty clear your the one whose the tard lol XD
@12 Actually you're the tard since your post consisted of "lol at "4th" strike. why wud they even consider making a sequel to a prequel. 3rd strike online is fine as it is, no need to even "consider" a sequel to it."
You stated it as fact and then "lol'ed" at it. If you don't follow it don't state something in absolute.
Anyway I really hope they do a new rival schools also since I missed out on playing them back in the day.
Input shortcuts are retarded. There is no reason for more shortcuts for games that ALREADY HAD shortcuts. This isn't SF2 and I'm not trying to do Cammy's Spin Knuckle. I have messed up many times because the game thought it knew what I wanted to do better than I did. Also, no more auto-correct.
@ Rekka
I think it's likely they will have customizable characters like Tekken 6. This is the perfect game to introduce it as well as let them sell accessories pack,
I highly doubt capcom would do a 4th strike unless they call it street fighter 5. My reasoning is that why would they go back a number? I could see if it was for a digital release, but if they would do a disc release for it then there is no way they would use the sf3 tag again. Maybe they would call it Street Figher: Final Assault.
Oh and did Sven just confirm that SfxTekken won't use GGPO? Don't tell me they are going with sf4 netcode again. Capcom knows when it comes to fighters fans want GGPO and since SfxTekken was announced last year it should've been on the table. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but that statement has me concerned.
@16
Then I'd suggest you practice your execution. I input the moves as I have since SF2 and never get random crap.
Short Cuts are for new players. If your good enough that your complaining about them, then they shouldn't be bothering you.
You ever see Daigo mess up at a tournament and say "Darn those Short Cuts!", no.
Aside from that, using short cuts as a game mechanic can actually add depth to the game. A person who's creative with combos can use input buffers and short cuts to their advantage. Ala Guile FK FADC U2.
Maybe Capcom knew what they were doing. A crutch for noobs, but a mechanic that skilled players can exploit.
Think outside the box and stop running with the popular vote.
@4 yes rival schools or project justice yes yes and bring back the minigames i need this game soma ahhhh

To add to my point.
The creation of the combo. "Two in ones". A mechanic that is now a franchise staple.
Implemented by accident, exploited by the skilled. No one ever said "remove those damn Two in Ones!" why? Because the mechanic was used to improve the game.
Short Cuts and Input buffering can be used the same way.
Anyone here know that you get Anti Air frame advantage if you perform an SRK while crouching using a Short Cut? I did!
Using it as a tool instead of a crutch is the best way to think of it.
That's just my two cents. Peace.
Street Fighter IV and its story will never be Canon to me. It will always be nothing more than a ill concocted "Dream Match"
I don't really care about 3SO on PC.
@24 Warzard (still the better title). Needs a sequel as bad as the first Street Fighter Needed II.
@23
its not a tool. For 20 years the dp motion was always a motion associated with moves that offer very powerful properties, ie invin frames. These moves where never intended to be mashed and u know that. U mention combos starting off as a bug, well they did. But u have to remember that that happened in 91 sf was brand new. EXECUTION has been a staple of sf games, if u dont have it block, go for simpler/safer combos or get better spacing/pokes going but with these lame shortcuts there is no more challengeing someones execution cause they can throw the stick around wildly and get one of the most powerful moves in the game.
@Zeidust
Yeah well that's just like your opinion man.
A SF 4th Strike could simply be the next all-new SF. I mean if Online Edition goes well with fans and casuals and becomes popular today then i see no reason why SF 5 couldnt just follow it. Then again the fighter selection will be a tough one for Capcom. They wouldn't want SF 5 to have a zillion characters but on the other hand if they sacrifice any of the World Warriors and newer popular characters like they did when SF 3 came out they might damage the game's sales and popularity again..
@27: It's the revrsal window and the fact that DPs now out-prioritizes QCFs that allows people to do easy reversals. It has nothing to do with input leniency. I agree that they should change it so that QCF > DP, because that's the single greatest input problem in SFIV: walking forward or doing a forward+P/K attack into QCF moves.
@15, wen i stated dat i wasnt quiet refering to the story as a whole. i said it cuz its just seems odd to continue a series dats fine as it is, after all these years. think of it like this, in future wen sf5 is out, they go back and make an update to ssf4. it wud seem odd. dats all i meant, ya tard lol XD

@27
I'm sad that this is what you came up with as a response to my thoughtful comments.
Sf4 is still an execution heavy game. If ppl are really landing DPs on you by randomly swirling the stick in a 360/720 mash out, you need to practice your combos. If your not dropping them, your opponent should be stuck in a stunned frame, meaning that if they are mashing, they are not blocking!
This should mean free damage for you!
Here is an idea. If your playing a swirling masher, block the mashed out DP and punish the SH!T out of them!
Again.... Short Cuts are to make the poor players feel better about themselves. So casuals can at least perform special moves!
If you've practiced YOUR execution, short cuts shouldn't be affecting your play!
Futhermore, if your good, Short Cuts can make combos that would otherwise be impossible, POSSIBLE!
Now do you see what I'm getting at? Please try to address a few of my points before giving me another "Stock" reply.
#23 the next project it's confirmed to be darkstalkers, ono said so in an e3 stream
@40
THe mash takes away throw mix ups/reset and also changes the whole mind set of the attacker since now instead of challenging ur wake up/execution i have to spend 100% of the time baiting it out which gives a smart masher more control over the tempo of the match. Now instead of goin for a high low mix ups, tick throws etc i have to always have in the back of my mind that he can mash at any moment and if he has meter he can do it safely. Ur not seeing how it effects mind goes but i doubt ur useing those anyway. U claim to have played sf2 and now i see that u were bsing because if u did u would know what its all about. Ur prob the first one to get throw around like a rag doll because u cant reversal or properly tech then u rage out and go back to sf4.
ANd then to top it all off, if ur good u dont need short cuts at all because it doesnt make anything "possible" that wouldnt otherwise be "impossible" before, it just tells me u cant cancel into a dp from a crotch position.
the only thing u got right is that it makes casuals feel better about themselves. I bet u feel good about now dont u?
I'd love a new four player Power Stone or Pocket Fighter game. The fighting game scene could do with something a little less serious. But I'd be surprised if any of these games were being considered.
if they dont have plans for a new rival schools game, at least release the old one on psn -_-
@43
Yes, I feel great. You've totally exposed me. Lmfao.
I guess I must be a scrub because I don't whine about Short Cuts that don't affect my gameplay.
And I must be a noob because I don't find reversal mashers a challenge to beat.
Sounds like you need to work on some new head games. Obviously your bait tactics are not working.
You sound like your scared the entire match.
As someone who mains Zangief, I have to agree with chickenwings. The reversal window is big and DPs do out-prioritize a lot of moves. It means that you have to be perfect, which you almost never are all the time, or you will get burned by a DP. lol
Also, when it comes time for SF5, I seriously hope GGPO or something close to it can be initiated for the project. I'm sure SF5 is a long ways off and that is why this is the perfect time to think about that. They have time to research it and come up with possible solutions that could mimic it, if GGPO itself won't work. That would make SF5 awesome.
@47
Aluppoj doesnt see that. He doesnt see how it takes away from the mind games and gives the guy with the mashable reversal a free defensive boost. He thinks when i say masher im talking about a casual player, but high level players DO mash since when u mash smart its REALLY effective. WHen i play against characters without mashable reversals i can go nuts on offense but as soon as they got ryu i have no choice to respect the mash and that alone should tell u the negative effects on the gameplay.
@46
U are exposed, u just said that its impossible to do a dp motion from a low attack.
How awesome would it be if capcom made Power Stone 3!
@51
play "online", the perfect setting for the mash. U know im right and u just dont want to except it.
But seriously, what combo is only possible with mashing? seriously post it.
How did an article about other CAPCOM fighting games besides Street Fighter turn into a dialogue about input shortcuts?
@54
because he commented on that he listens to the fanbase.
"Svensson said he hit various forums a lot for what they ended up putting in Street Fighter 3 Online Edition. Citing again that your feedback DOES matter."
Shortcuts have been a complaint of alot of players(myself included) and if he really was listening/lurking in the forums he would know that. I understand that giving something to the entry lvl player is something that they want to do to boost sales, but it hurts gameplay.
Simple solution, go the mvc3 path. Simple/normal mode and allow the mulitplayer modes to force it off/search for lobbies that only accomadate his/her input setting.
Is that too much to ask for?
Not "combos by way of mashing" dude. Combos using input short cuts!
Guile: Flash Kick Fadc forward into Ultra2 is ONLY POSSIBLE because of the short cuts you hate soooo much! And that's just one example.
You seem to be missing my point entirely! I don't like mashing either! We are on the SAME SIDE in that regard!
I'm saying that a SMART SKILLED PLAYER can use short cuts as a tool!
Not using it to mash! Ok pp face:P
@56
ok, cause guile has a dp move? That happens cause of charge latency not the short cuts. Same way u can dash forward and do a charge super/ultra, i know all about this, all i play is chargers. So in the end u dont even know what ur talking about.
judging by ur name ur not even in my time zone. And if u know anything about online play u would understand why i have a policy of only playing serious games with people withing my state.
It's kinda funny if you think about it. You basically admit to using Charge Latency to your advantage. Then hate on ppl who short cut to a dp?
Believe me lol, it's funny to dash forward into ultra with Rog, right through a fireball and land a full ultra!
But that's called using a game mechanic to your advantage right?
So while you bash Shotos for short cutting a dp, on some other thread, on some other site, ppl are b!tchin about you and your "charge latency."
@Aluppoj and @Chickenwings, you both have great points but dont you think you should sort of leave the bickering and just settle this one on one ? Come on no need to fight (y)
That being said I have to agree with Aluppoj he has made some hard points and backs them up, I played sf2 as a youngster and was not good at it lol but as i got older i become a force to be reckoned with, I also had a dreamcast and had titles such as double impact rival schools alpha and la la la. So its safe to assume im a hardcore beat em up player, that being said I fully endorse the idea of shortcuts it is great,it aids me but has made the game more accessible for everyone, i didnt even know about the shortcuts till about a few months ago and it does make things easier and more enjoyable whilst i can play using both methods i prefer using the shortucts, it doesnt make me any less of a player to any one and as Alupoj clearly stated for some people it makes the impossible possible
Sf3 online edition on the Pc will be great.
Been playing it on emulators its time for a true version.
I mean connection on desktops is a lot better than consoles.
I fully pledge i wont pirate the game, he he..
