yeah, i didn't like the sound of that either as so far thats the only way i had heard it was possible to do them, but this video cleared that up and it seems that charging is an alternative way of doing the moves and also means they cost NO meter. but as max said here it seems useless atm, and seth on the gamespot demo also said if you get hit by one you are kind of "asking for it" as they are very telegraphed. but he never actually said it was possible to do them any other way, and I dont like to assume ;)

And holy crap that character select screen is sexy.
The extra cosmetic stuff like intros and between-round scenes and backgrounds are sexy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislike the "Charge EX into Super" mechanic. Seth gave the impression that it was built with the casual audience in mind but it could very well be a throwback to TK's Slow Unblockable Moves. Eitherway, I'm not feeling it.
Ok, I know it's early. And I'm probably setting my self up to get ripped apart, but this is my early thought.
Does anyone else feel like this isn't SFxT, but rather "Some New Game X Tekken?"
I know projectiles are present, and they have gone to great lengths to bring over the Tekken style of fighting and juggling. But I'm starting to feel like a guy who has a guest in my house. You give them first pick on everything.
Jumping right to it, it's seems like the SF element is disappearing and just becoming Tekken Tag.
I hope Namco does this much to make SF's feel at home. But I kinda doubt that.
Other than that the game looks very cool and very fun.

I play tekken games specially 5 and 6..
none of its gameplay elements were present here,,
except from those air juggle to combos and the tag system..
Which is nice.. since were waiting for tekken vs street fighter,
Iam looking forward for sf characters in that fighting engine.
Well this game is awesome,, its unique in its own way..
There still time for polishing so we hope capcom will once again listen to fans when they find something not appealing.

It looks like Tekken gets their system, and SF gets a new system. That's may not be a bad thing in the end. If the game is fun is the important part. But it seems like the SF crew are simply making a cameo in somebody elses game.

At first I wasn't really charmed with the Tekken Tag setup, where 1 char down = win, but I think I'll like it when it gets here. You just pick your main and when your main has trouble getting getting in for example, you switch to your outher char, get in, combo and switch back.

Charging them is an alternative to putting in the command, it takes a long time to charge but the trade off is that the move cost NO meter, altho its a great trade off the ammount of time it takes to charge leads me to believe that they cannot be used in combo strings making them pretty much useless at this early stage!
Hey, Maximilian I think when it comes to the tags off a block string, your character has to be standing in order to call in your partner. I was running into the same issue when I would crouch block and coming off a block stun and trying to tag in my partner, I was getting upset as well because I would try and try and the tag wouldn't work, even if my opponent would back off. Then I realized that tags don't seem to work when crouching, because as soon as I stood up and input the tag command, that tag work.
This game looks like it is shaping up rather nicely. but still sooo long to wait.....:(
