Dan disconfirmed for Street Fighter X Tekken, online play will 'set new bar'

GameTrailers has a couple new interviews with Capcom staff members Yoshinori Ono and Seth Killian. Ono is first up and he mentions that Dan won't be in the upcoming game because he's not alive in this version of time line for Street Fighter X Tekken. Ono goes on to flesh out previously known details a little, and adds that the 4 button control scheme is only implemented for the Tekken characters.

Next up is Seth Killian, who also does a lot of recapping, but mentions that the online component will be full of "a lot of surprises," and feels like SFxT will set a new bar in that regard. You can check out his interview by visiting the jump.

Even though the voice over didn't suit Ono at all, it made him sound more convincing.

But yeah, with all the Street Fighter characters to choose from, Dan should not be one to make it to this game.

Dan was hilarious but I'd much rather have a competent character than one who shows sporadically and has his perks, but doesn't really bring anything to the table.

Well to be fair they said Dan is not alive in this version so I guess he was killed off. Just because he is dead do not ruin the chances of other characters like Sakura, Karin, Ibuki (notice her friend is in the background and they should be around the same age so yeah). As for Dan not making it... It is not a big deal right now... I remember a couple of instances where a character was so called killed off but came back in the Tekken world. Back in Tekken 5, Heihachi was blown up by an army of Jack 4. But with his track record of near death experiences, he survives it and becomes an unlockable character in the game to show he was not killed afterall... For all you know, they have the same plans for Dan.

You know what that's fine because that just tells me that they wanted to balance the roster. Clearly having Dan available in the Street Fighter side will just make the Street Fighters overpowered. Tekken characters just would not stand a chance. I'm sure Capcom just wanted to make sure that they weren't showing any favoritism and wanted to treat both sides equally.

Who deserves a spot more than Dan?
Some 3S characters like Alex, Elena, Hugo and Urien
Alpha characters such as Rolento, Karin, and Mika
Maybe some SF1 characters like Birdie and Eagle

Never really got into 3S but now some Alpha series characters, you're rubbing the spot. I remember liking Juli and Juni (man that was a long time ago) and I dont think we have seen them in a game since. Also I cant remember if their play style was significantly different from Cammy to secure them a spot. BUT they were a team! That would be a somewhat interesting tag team.
