I knew E3 would bring a more polished game. This is great progress.
However, while I like the return-ish of Ryu's stage (this game has the potential for a lot of ninja characters: Raven, shotos, guy, ibuki, retsu) I don't like the limited character roster on display. I was hoping for at least one new SF character.
To all who hated and are gonna hate...
It's still in development. I'm sure it'll be just fine. If your not going to play it, don't come to the site just to bag on it. I'm sure there's a huge community of trolls somewhere waiting for you to join their ranks somewhere else. Not all games are for everyone. Enjoy or no b*t*h*n*.
Hey guys, what were you expecting? obviously in the street fighter side Ono is going to use the characters of ssf iv ae, maybe a couple of new ones. He said he didnt want to be defeated in roster size by the guys at namco, and that he wants to include as many fighters as posible (he already has 39 models done) so he is probably going to use his resources to make tekken characters.
I can't believe I just saw Kunimitsu in the background...
I swear, that was a bunch of cameos in this game. Even the pain-in-the-ass big-ass dude from Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign Mode was in the background too!
(My goodness, I hope whoever demo'ed the game DOES NOT read these elitist comments - I'm just glad they tried out the game.
#4 summed it up pretty well though, not gonna say anything else)
People can only blame the fans for the current copy-pasta roster. Remember Street Fighter III? Remember how they brought in an almost entire new cast, and people hated it?
(I like 3rd Strike btw)
I'm sure there will be some fresh blood on the Capcom side. Just wait guys. They have to show the classic and favorite characters 1st. I'm sure there would be a lot of, "WHERE THE KCUF IS GUILE!???//11!!!???!/11/1/!?/1"
I'm just waiting for the Q announcement.
why did they show off their game like that by letting people play it that dont even know what to do? the first trailer i felt should have been VERY powerfull by showing what sagat and hworang can really do. and that is by letting people who know how to play it demonstrate it. but it looks weak instead.
btw, anyone else notice kunimitsu in he back on the roof. maybe ono-san is going to treat her like hugo and not put her in.
PLEASE - IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY FIGHTING GAMES AND YOU ARE AT E3 PLEASE PLAY.
I can't take watching people do nothing. How do so many people who don't know how to play games get into E3? And why do we trust their opinions again?
I remember watching a guy play Zelda a few years ago, how do you make Zelda look painful? Run into walls for five minutes that's how.
This game feels weak, not feeling it at all. Tekken characters just don't fit at all because they are all just too punchy and they all lack projectiles save it be Devil Jin or his father or the creatures. The game doesn't feel fresh and new, it's just a more inked out version of SSF4 with Tekken characters, a very stale game. The game should of a had a completely different look to it. I would of preferred their efforts to be used on Capcom vs SNK 3, this would of been the better game. This would probably be one crossover I am not planning to by, except the Tekken X Street Fighter now that's going to be interesting...street fighter characters in FULL 3D and the Tekken characters can easily side step projectiles. I bet in Street X Tekken, more people will stick with street fighter characters. Cole doesn't hype this game, Cole should of been a guest character in Marvel vs Capcom 3, he's a super hero you know. What is Capcom thinking???
@28
seriously, i dont understand how these guys can be that bad and even be at e3.
Does it really matter that much if the people that are 'TESTING' an 'UNFINISHED' game don't know how to play it properly?
They're just one of the 1st people that made a video for 'OUR' benefit. Unless you're a champion SF player most of you should quit with your elistism..............jeez
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Phoenix Wright in the background. That's awesome.
It looks fun, it's too bad that no one really knows how to play it yet. Hoping Sakura gets in.
So anyway, regarding Capcom at E3, do they already have on show everything they aim to present? Or will they have a presser later on? So far we've seen the 3s trailer and these SxT demos, i'm hoping that's not just it for them this year.
WinstonChurchill
Yes it does matter. showing off what the game can really do, ESPECIALLY in its beginning stages by people who know what to do and how to do it would raise the hype and "critic points." Seing how they handled hworang at E3 makes it look hard to play. -- thats what an official critic is going jog down on his notes.
DeezeeKujaku
There is a Cammy gameplay trailer on here. how did manage to miss it?
Ibuki quarreling with Kunimitsu in the background = best part of the game.
I'm used to seeing poor gameplay during like tests, but I'm sorry, this was hard to watch.
And I'm no elitist. I'd just enjoy seeing a brand new character do more than Sweep HP, Sweep HP, Sweep HP, Sweep HP, Sweep HP, Sweep HP, Sweep HP.
Sorry, not trying to be cruel, but it makes a HYPE REVEAL boring as HELL!
Day one for me still, but my concern for this game is steadily increasing.
i LOVE the slection screen and how the characters actually come right next to the side in live motion just like tekken does in some of their games. wonder if you select an alternate outfit, will it show up on the selection screen? and those 2 empty slots... i wonder who it will be. i hope to god not that crappy lookin guy from infamous. he has absolutely NOTHING to do with sf or tk AT ALL. keep his a$$ in that lil hot-box which i will never buy anyway.
Poor hwoarang, better yet poor tekken characters. Game already have the 3 main fireball culprits in and seems like only kazuya was seen being able to dash under fireballs. Hopefully the game shapes up much better still looks mighty clunky and the tekken characters still dont seem to bring there essence over.
Wow the game seems much faster than SFIV, which is a good thing.
The jumps in here seem as fast as when SFIV was still in development(I remember they showed videos of SFIV when it was still in development)
I wonder if the players tried mashing X and O with Hwoarang, or x,x,x,x then o,o,o,o lol.
I like how the worst players possible were the ones who uploaded videos.
@#52 Darko_p86
what i meant as with sf4 Guile, sagat, ryu where all heavy strict fireballers. Never really seen kens opt to use strict zoning when they are able to get in and chun is a mixed bag. Thus why i said main culprits not all. Cause if fireballing proves to be a very powerful tactic again it would make the clash between the 2 games pretty loopsided in street fighter favor. Cause if they add new moves to tekken characters and not much of there original stuff it takes away from their identity. While the game would work it would defeat the purpose of a cross over.
I think it would be a shame if just about every single tekken character to be forced into the street fighter mold of getting around fireballs in the long run(forced to jump over or something all day). Granted too early to tell(hopefully) but i wish the tekken characters feel and look like actually tekken characters outside their visual appearance.
Without parry's or focus attacks Sagat, Ryu and Guile are going to be popular. Sagat vs Hwoarang reminded me of vanilla lol.
@#51
lol the hwoarang mash wouldnt as you would think. Last i checked all characters are on the 6 buttons layout and of course a repurposed control scheme for the tekken dudes. And from my observation Hwoarang is gonna fight like Jhun hoon from the kof series
Wonder how long it will take people to start whining about the "small roster", especially when they have 35 characters in SSFIV but only play with 5 or 6 characters (outta 35?! wtf) in the first place! lol
Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Guile, Bison are most of what I seen online.
@ darko_p86
Comments like #57 is what i hope it doesnt boil down too in a TLDR way
Double post
Really, what's the point of having a large roster anyway? Can't tell me "oh it's for more variety" when 4/5 players use the same 5 or 6 characters.
@#61
That usually ring true when it comes to the tournament streams but there are many people out there not using or plan on using the mainstream characters when they are playing with group of friends or non popular tournaments that dont get streamed. Also the online play, having the option to do so it what counts.
Think of it as when you are making a plate of food to eat: its better to grab more and be full than grab less and end up still being hungry.
powderedtoastman
think they should have kept the focus attack. that was one way to getting around fireballs, just absorb it and dash through it to attack, but yeah, i thought about all of what you said loooonnng time ago. how would this work out...how would that work out....? and they managed to make it look SO simple with the very first trailer (ryu and kazuta, tho now people are finding out that that aint so. not every tekken character has a dash like most of the the mishima's do. so then what?
we WANT a sf vs tek crossover. ok. done
that menas having fireball charaters. ok done.
but we want someway to getting around fireballs. here is a somehwhat of a "ok. done"
but the thing that i dont understand is, why do people make an issue about tekken characters having to find some way to getting past fireballs when they didnt complain about 19 and 1/2 (dan) characters in ssf4 having to do the same damn thing. people completely ignored the fact that someone like abel, zangief, or rufus had effective ways to getting around fireballs.
there are just too many variables at this point. its not just black and white, theres a lot of gray area. and man, how will txsf look? with a fireball maniac like ryu, i dont see how a standard tekken round is going to turn up. on one hand ryu's hadouken zoning ability has to be utlized, on the other hand, namco isnt really into many projectiles being thrown around 2/3 of the fighting round. they just might have him throw out a fast hadouken after like a 3 hit combo (something that looks like heihachis 3 hit) that travels as far as dans and thats it. and then the move inputs for sf characters... mind boggling i tell ya.
To maximise the appeal of this footage at the worlds largest gaming stage, they should have decent players demonstrating some intermediate skill so that they can showcase the abilities of the characters and the games mechanics.I also dont like the idea of the team dying when one character is killed. Having said that, the game is still in its development, give them time to perfect this game...it's a cool idea, and yet another addition to the explosion of fighting games coming out. Be patient boys and girls , and instead of slating things, maybe offer some advice or critical analysis in a way that contributes to bettering the games we all want to be good. Just put garuda in ssf4AE already or sfxtekken and i will be a happy man.
@#64 Darko
They could have kept it but didnt so now we gotta deal with it like sf2 style days. Spacing them jumps, and tekken characters arent known for jumping and now completely out their element now. Tekken characters are at a huge risk on losing their identities.
As in your previous thought in the beginning of your post you mention focus attacks for dealing with fireballs in ssf4 cant then ask why no one complain about ssf4 characters having to do so when they had more inherit options on dealing with fireballs and a built-in system for it. Alot of folks had access to ex moves, armored moves, anti fireball ultras designed for countering fireballs. Think your number of 19+dan is a bit overboard cause everyone had some kind of option. Now if you were to say Heavy fireballing+ excellent pokes(chun, sim, guile etc) at once is a whole different ballgame. As anti fireball maneuvers cant deal with the normals coupled with fireballs which then the number you stated would be a bit more accurate.
Tekken characters arent built to deal with fireballs nor is a system in place that universal to deal with it, unlike ssf4, thus complaints will and should rise because it a legit topic. I think you do understand why just missing the answer you gave yourself in your previous statement.
kuiper_felt
totally agree. they should have had somone show it off with a somehwhat decent ability. about the characters dying, well the concept was also in tt where if one died, youre KO. but then again, they had their own game like mvc where you had to beat all of em. maybe having it that way will make the players play more carfully instaed of just going head on. either way even if you are careless, just tag out right before you die and you'll play with another full health character.
Just to clarify, no one expects world class talent to be on display for the game for the entire showcase...just a couple of fights with people that can show what is possible..then gladly let the audience join and have fun...it is about having fun after all..for most of us anyway..and ya wishful thinking for garuda :( but I still like to keep dream alive.
powderedtoastman
so youre saying there is NO WAY that tekken characters could be given " ex moves, armored moves, anti fireball ultras designed for countering fireballs?"
on the contrary, i think its the tekken cast who should have the priority to them since they are just like you said disadvantaged to dealing with projectiles.
complaints are fine, as long as you are within reason. i've seen threads that were WAY out of line.
@#65
While somewhat true, there are a few with projectiles and from what i remember they are all unblockable. But thankfully all the street fighter characters are capable of brawling up close so it can be less of a non issue.
And tekken movelist do have DP and fireball motions along with unblockable slow moves for everyone, so i can see ryu fireball working like devil jins eye laser being unblockable but with a hefty recovery. Srk working like kazuya uppercut, hurricane kick being one of them slow range unblockable moves, and the mule kick being a goto move for juggling. Ryu can be capable of keeping all his moves in a tekken engine, playstyle not so much.

i havent played alpha 1 in depth so i cant speak of it, but alpha 2 and 3 i rarely seen fireball zoning being overly powerful and everyone tend to go nuts with the custom combos. And alpha 3 folks with the infinites with no shame >:(
#71
Probably address it, im not lighting torches yet as i mentioned im hoping it doesnt come to that. History tend to repeat itself so i wouldnt put it past them. And i also said they could make it work by modifying the tekken characters(which they probably did) but the tekken characters losing there identities in the process of the cross over is my main concern. So far these characters dont seem anything like their tekken counterparts outside visual looks. It all just feel wrong lol
somethin tells me shortcuts r in the game, please for the love of god either take them out or pull a mvc3 and have a regular and simple mode and allow matching/lobbies to group players who use simple and regular special move schemes.
@#74 Darko
Im not saying there is NO WAY they cant have such moves, as i mentioned earlier they could have already put it on em in at the cost of the tekken dudes ending up not feeling like a tekken character in any regard.
I was hoping atleast the tekken characters would be able to carry over their insane juggling mechanic in a way in a 2d fashion. If you need a good example of what i was thinkin about just look at how 3rd strike handle fully stunned folks getting juggled. I can see the tekken character carrying over alot of their combos from tekken into a 2d playing field while still being in a street fighter styled game.
@#73
Nobody expects this to play like Tekken. It's the one Capcom produces after all. And chargeable moves and launchers, with lack of Focus mechanics and difference in juggles already makes this different than SSF4. And half of the cast in SSF4 does not use fireballs regardless, and they do well.
I wonder if we can wave dash across the screen to dodge through fireballs then BAM! EWGF to the face! lol.
When this game drops i will definitly pick the tekken roster first because its like brand new characters in SF.
Ill most likely be doing the same with SF characters in TxSF
In the first vid during the second round I thought the guy in the background was Phoenix Wright lol....it isn't right?
@#77
I agree!
Actually, Shortcuts will RUIN the Tekken characters since some of them have df df + attack throws and DP motion attacks as well.
Since everyone say they are Pros now. There is no more need for shortcuts. They should be able to perform moves like the old school games now, no need for the Half-Assed approach.
@85
Honestly, the only move thats actually "hard" to do in sf is the standing 360s and hdr has already solved that problem with there alternate input(half circle back then forward). Babying the new players hurts u in the end since now u WONT be able to sell them older or more strict capcom fighting titles and u fustrate older/more advanced players(advanced players including people that started in sf4) with ridiculous inputs.
@ darko_p86
She barely did anything so I didn't consider it true gameplay XD
Dammit, Kunimitsu is only a background NPC...sad face.
Here's to hoping Guy, Cody, Rolento, Maki or Poison making the roster
Everytime I see this game, i think of it as waste of resources and time. This sucks.
Hm I do hope they brush some of the graphics/style up, it looks pretty chunky now that I've seen so many videos. The select screen is boss though
Doesn't help that its early and people just spam one thing, I wanna see a decent player showing some juggles and combos but its early so yea. Looking sweett
I'm not bashing the game but some observations:
1) I like the concept of one life bar versus two life bars (or 3 like MvC3). When you die, you die no matter how much life your partner has.
2) Kinda sluggish, but I like the way it is progressing
3) Graphics still the most negative of the game, but I am sure they will polish it. Not digging the darker outlines and weird colors. Definitely not as bright and alive as SF4
4) Love the characters so far. Can't wait to see more. Hopefully mix up a few from the SF4 series (shoto, charge, grappler) and add a few from previous SF series (and Tekken, of course)
5) Hope they smooth out the partner swap transitions and combos. Still a bit rough
Before you bash me, I am just stating my opinions and I am sure this is still every early in development. I hope at least the graphics will look cleaner and not so dirty looking.
But getting hype with those crazy combos!
@94 good thing not many people care what you think
The more I see of this game, the more excited I get for it!
