IGN posted an interview with Capcom's Christian Svensson today that mostly delves into their non-fighting games, but there was very brief mention of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and what is up with their DLC plans for the game. IGN: What's up with downloadable content for Marvel vs. Capcom 3? We haven't heard anything.
Svensson: I'm going to ask you to wait and see. We have been more radio silent than I would like us to be.
What is up with Capcom Japan? They seem to have issues with communication. It seems they want to the player to know nothing about anything.
I'm actually okay with a Super Marvel 3. Jill and Shuma were what, 5-7 dollars each? Let's say they added as many DLC characters to the game as they added to SSFIV, which would be 12. That's, at the lowest, $60 for each character, on top of the $60 for the game.
If Capcom does as much for a Super MvC3 as they did for SSFIV, and charge a discounted price, I think that's a desirable outcome.
If SMvC3 is their plan though, I wish they'd wait for a while to release it. I mean the game hasn't even been out 6 months yet.
Wow. CAPCOM must have something very big up their sleeves to keep their own PR guys in the dark.
I'm pretty sickened by how people are willing to support a SUPER MvC3, which would mark the first time in the Versus series they've been quite so blatant about their nickel-and-diming the loyal customers.

So what would you call every Vs. game before this one? Because they all pretty much used the same sprites, and MAYBE changed attack properties around.
I just don't understand why they would make a poll and ahve us get all hype. Then not even mention dlc characters in months. At least put out costumes to hold us over. Ryu, Iron man, Captain America, Dante and thats it... I don't even play with those characters. C'mon man
cool atleast theres something off course they would be secretive with any new dlc that matters characters costumes etc. everything was leaked before i guess they dont want that and i dont either id like to be blown away or atleast a little suprised this time around
Much like #2, I'm alright with having leak free surprise content for my games. At the same time, I would appreciate some heads up because as far as we know they dropped MVC3 and we won't be getting anything else. It's a bit disheartening to see Captivate and now E3 coming up and from the looks of it there won't be any focus on MVC3 or the DLC that will be available. I trust Sven when he says that there will be DLC, but again I would like them to come out at one of these events and say something to the likes of "stay tuned for future DLC, etc."
@23: That was regarding Street Fighter IV with Arcade Edition being the last game in the series.
How about DLC for tatsunoko vs Capcom, lol
Like they say we have no choice but to wait as usual..
I mean this: http://twitter.com/#!/CapcomEuro/stat...
"MvsC3 is out, done and dusted, no further announcements planned"
this is what makes me wonder, since it greatly conflicts with this news.
Capcom is going to announce Super MVC3.
The market has spoken with SF4 and shown that gamers are willing to pay for annual updates to their fighters.
With the game engine already developed all they have to do
is put out more characters and modes.
Lets look at MVC3 for a second and you will see how much
content was seemingly held back on purpose. You cant even
have a straight up 1v1 match against the CPU without setting
it up through training mode for gods sake.
Super MVC3 is coming and in some respects its all our faults.
@32 cause sf4 was primarilly intact and all modes and characters there that were meant by them to be there and i dont have to explain the differences between content its just not fair is all
If they don't tell you their new plans, you say they're trolling or teasing.
If they do tell you their plans, you get mad because it's not what you wanted to hear and still complain.
They don't win either way with you so-called fans.
Do you think they are going to add any more characters? I mean lets be honest. They haven't even hinted towards it. All we get is news about a.e. and sfxt. Possibly soon even darkstalkers. I think they are overwhelmed.
(At least someone in the company notices, ad not just the fans, phew!
And speaking on why Capcom is so quiet/secretive: Japan does their own thing, just look at Nintendo. People question whether this has led them to falling behind in terms of development and publishing - Capcom themselves have given alot of IPs recently to western developers thinking they'll fare better there.
In short, Japan does their own thing - which in this particular case means keeping people in the dark.
/Sadpanda)
I payed like 80 something dollars for marvel3 with the book guide thing and all.
I bought Jill and that lame ass octopus.
I also bought the costume package.
In total of money it was more than 100 hundred dollars.
At the beginning it was Sentinel war.
We all had to use that Robot to win.
That Sentinel character made the other characters 'LEFT OUT'
It was all about Sentinel.
Obviously we saw this coming right at the beginning.
To use Iron-man properly you really gotta have it master. (In marvel 3 in my opinion Iron-Man creators barely took effort on making him)
Spider-Man is another character. You want to use Spider-man you really gotta have it master.
These are the two characters I find the weakest in my opinion. Though I'll mention others.
Felicia/Morrigan/Captain American ETC.
You give a rocket punch and a super they are instantly dead.
I can tell people who made this game were newcomers indeed. I wished I never bought marvel 3.
I'm satisfied with super street fighter 4. I got no complains to that. The game has everything and it's perfect.
The hell with marvel 3.
Sorry CAPCOM but I'm not buying anymore of your marvel games. The heck I'm not gonna fall for such big game announcements anymore.
Note to CAPCOM: "CAPCOM IS A SMOOTH CRIMINAL. Oh just look a them moon walking!"
@42 It's not that they're bad characters, it's just that they require a little more work than some of the other characters, that's the same reason people constantly underestimate the Darkstalkers trio. It takes practice and mastering, but once you've mastered them they're really, really good. I don't personally use spiderman, but my brother does and I've seen him pull of stuff I've never seen in any combo video -if we get the time we might try to put together a video of some kind- and they're both effective and practical.
The real problem is the game has only been out for about four months and people are already trying to say who's good and who's bad, now I was quite young -early teens- when MvC2 came out, but I'm pretty sure people didn't immediately pick up Storm/Sent/Magneto and go 'Here's the best three characters in the game, don't waste your time with anyone else'. It's gonna take some time, but people will eventually find legit strategies for underrated characters...kind of like how people saw the Shulk reveal trailer back in November(?) of last year and claimed she was a waste of a slot.
We need to give the game a year -give or take- before we truly see what the entire/a majority of the cast is capable of when played at a high level.
I think someone already mentioned this but it deserves to be repeated: Sometimes it all just comes down to the way Japanese companies go about their business. This isn't exclusive to Capcom; it's just the style of some Japanese game companies to keep things hush-hush until they're ready to talk about it. Yeah, it sucks, but it's just how it is.
Plus, the fact that Capcom has to run their ideas through Marvel when character and license usage is involved is only going to delay things further, so I'm not surprised that even guys like Seth and Sven are kept in the dark at times.
Also...
#41 is full of so much BS it's astounding.
If you're going to complain about weak characters, at least make an attempt to focus on the ones that actually are weak and not the ones that you don't know how to use and thus decide that they suck. Also, the whole "Sentinel dominates the game" argument died out months ago, no one's going to back you up on that anymore.
At least know what you're talking about before you post, otherwise you're only going to make yourself look bad.
Iron Man is a good character, while he takes skill for his fly combos, he's very versatile and it's very easy to place him into any team and have him fit well.
While Spider-Man could definitely be better, he's far from being the worst. With good assists backing him up, he can hold his own decently enough, as he's got plenty of tricks up his sleeve such as the hidden power of his web throw, which is a very good move that allows him to extend his combos for quite a bit of damage.
Felicia is incredibly good; she's execution heavy but she's a great rushdown character with a ton of tools to win. Don't confuse a lack of popularity with weakness, she's got some real nasty and damaging stuff.
Morrigan is good. Her meter assist is incredibly useful, and Astral Vision is one of the best power up hypers in the game. She's the kind of character that can just keep combos going and going.
Captain America is mediocre and sort of a niche character, but he excels at his niche, which is being an anti-spam character. Not the most versatile but with the right team setup he can do well.
@43
Right on.
Like you said, it hasn't been long enough to where anyone can say with confidence who's weak. While there's certainly some characters that stand out as being bad such as Hsien-Ko and Arthur (and even then both have their uses as very good assist characters), it seems like every week there's a pro out there that is showing everyone something new with an underused character.
As you mentioned, everyone was convinced that She-Hulk would be bad when they saw her and her "unconventional-for-MvC" moveset, and then just like that, guys like Justin Wong and Combofiend are showing everyone the true power of She-Hulk and nowadays most people agree that she is one of the best in the game.
So yeah, give the game more time, let the metagame evolve and allow people to continue to discover more as time goes.
@foreverbadass
You're right, people didn't discover Storm/Sent/Magneto right away. They also didn't find insta-death combos with over half of the cast on day one.
MvC3 doesn't need time to develop because it has no depth. It is what it is and it'll stay that way until (if) they decide to fix it.
@47
So (assuming they handle it like like Super) 12 new characters for $40 more insulting than selling each character separately for $5 each?
I seriously don't understand why anyone would be against it. The only problem I have with it is them doing it so soon.
I am a day one spider-man user and he has much less to work with than most in the game not to mention how p*ssed i get when people can smack me out of ultimate webthrow while they are chillin in the web..... :( they did a lot of characters dirty in the game given them little to work with while characters like dante ohoenix wesker sent wolvie are easy mode......i still love the game but am frustrated with the treatment a lot of the characters...
lol @ everyone wondering why Capcom Japan doesn't speak up.
It's typical Japanese business behavior, and I agree it's frustrating but this happens a lot more than you think.
Nintendo is by far the worst offender, they'll announce games and not offer any information or reveals about anything on them at all up until the game releases or the month of release, and no I don't count short gameplay trailers or CGs. It happens every time. Of course we are talking about the same people that still naively believe they don't need to have anything to do with the internet at all.
There is Ono though...even if he trolls us. I find him highly amusing though :P
I know lots of ppl don't want him in but I wouldn't mind Phoenix Wright lol
Remember when Capcom made games and didnt tell us anything or listen to cry baby customers AND still put out amazing games that are still played today (SSF2T, MVC2, 3S..etc). "The good old days"
Silence Is Golden
i wud love to see a tournament with characters like super skrull, morrigan, iron man, spiderman, felicia, hsien ko, chris, thor and a bunch of other underrated/unused characters all in top 8/finals. but obviously dat aint gona happen, cuz no matter how much skill u put into them they will easily get dominated by over powered characters dat require less skill ala sentinel, dark phoenix, etc.
Frank West, Mega Man X, Strider, Pheonix Wright, Venom, Doc Ock, Black Panther, and Gambit.
Stages, Deadrising, Latveria, and the Court Roon. Thats all i want.

I was just expressing my mind. And I got the rights. You SOB!
I feel that if Capcom (or any developer for that matter) has the potential to release an updated version of a game (SSFIV for example), then they have the potential to implement the same properties and such to the original game via patches and DLC. I'm not an expert on any of this; this is strictly opinion, however if it is possible to release updates via patches and DLC (including stages, characters, costumes etc.), then I think people should be charged one rate and receive the updates accordingly instead of paying more cash for a disc that is virtually the same game with updates. Might not make as much money, but I think it would be good with the fan base. Me personally, I'd sacrifice a small profit for a loyal and HAPPY fan base.
Well, this is mainly because Capcom is full of cockblocks and teases..
