It looks different than the CPS3 emulator filter. Look at the highlight in his hair, that looks almost deliberately shaded. Even though it's definitely not.
^ That reason is because it's console release was on the Sega Dreamcast. Don't make yourself out to be one of the misinformed haters who hasn't actually played the game competitively yet is trying to school whoever reads the comments on your poorly worded opinion.
is that it? such a let down, well at least I can save some money on something better
"Looking good"? What about this looks good? It's darker and less pixelated. No REAL improvments. Look at Super Steer Fighter II Turbo, then look at HD Remix. THAT'S an actual improvement. Graphics updated and looking way better. Balance and move changes. THIS, sucks. Same 3rd strike balance from 80 years ago along with essentially the same graphics. Weak. This is why Capcom continues to feed us half assed projects. Because of morons like you going - "OH THIS IS GONNA BE AMAZING LOLFTW" at everything they do, whether it's truly good or complete garbage. Wake up already, fools. This game shouldve gotten the HD Remix treatment. Why it didn't is beyond me. And any excuse made by Svenson is gonna be bull. Because they can't come out and say we didn't want to use more money to fully update this game like we shouldve. I couldve waited an extra year and so could everyone else. Because this game is really just a recycled port with online functionality (which it already had on XBOX) it sucks. Bravo.
You guys are crazy. This game was one of the best fighters on the market, in fact it still is. I also think the filter looks great! I can't wait to get my hands on it, very excited to learn this game inside and out (I was never that great at 3s). Also, @CapComSucks... why would you even comment on anything? Everything on EventHubs is Capcom oriented. Are you just here to troll?
Anyways, I love 3s. I love Oro. I can't wait to get Oro programmed into my hands like Guy is in SSF4! Haha.
@OdinReborn You're just bitter because you suck and keep getting bodied. Lots of other fighting games failed but, you don't see me complaining. Just don't play or buy it and leave it to the competitive players why are you still so bitter when you have SSF4 AE now. It's really irrelevant at this stage. 3rd Strike is not a game for the feint at heart and takes a long time to master I would agree with that but, there are other reasons why it failed. The arcade scene slowly started fading, it was on dreamcast, it was out for too long with no other really good fighting games coming out, it was expensive to invest in horrible sticks, playing on pc with even the slightest lag make a huge difference and was dependent on the performance of your pc. Stop crying because a game is too hard for you. Either learn to play or don't play at all.
@ #13: Everybody had to start somewhere.
SFIV was a huge success for fighting games this generation. It's opened the doors for so many of the games we grew up with.
Games that didn't necessarily sell well in their day have a second chance at success. And seeing as how fighting games are hot right now I'd expect even the worst ones to do moderately well.
Instead of turning into cherished fan memories they've become guaranteed sellers. I expect to see more of them in the future. Perhaps CvS2 and Alpha 3 OE. I'd pay $59.99 for XvSF v.1 on PSN/XBL.
@17 It didn't aid in anything, if anything brought down the fighting game community at the time it was because of losers like you. (Oh this game is too hard I'm going to cry and biatch on everywhere. Make games more easier for me to play because I'm a scrub and I keep losing and I'm going to bitter at the game for the rest of my life). I hate losers like you that always have to cry about everything. 3rd Strike was amazing enough said.
Again, people complain about how a simple port can be better, when the reality of that is very out-of-reach.
Even comparing SF2 HD Remix and this port is pretty far out-of-reach. You cannot compare the amount of frame SF2 uses, compared to the amount of frames 3rd Strike uses. That is, and I repeat, a TREMENDOUS amount of work.
Again, they probably do not want to touch the balance for a few reasons. This port was specifically made for the fans, with Capcom already knowing how much of a failure the game truly was(putting aside the huge competitive scenery and the fun value). 3rd Strike was a game that catered to the pros and left the beginners in the dust. For Capcom to change this aspect of the game, would be to change it in some way that would leave the former fans unsatisfied or unhappy. Like I mentioned before, Capcom is creating this port for the fans, so they are doing it for the fans, as well as for the profit of course.
Is Capcom trying to squeeze more buck for their value? Perhaps, but that is another subject entirely.
@27, yes I am looking at the Japan's arcade scene when 3S was out. Why? They had a better understanding of the game and which is why it was popular over there. It took America and other places quite a while to grasp and understand 3s, hence why it wasn't popular.
Fast forward to today, we have alot more people who understanding the mechanics of SF overall. This is the generation for fighters so why WOULDN'T it be popular? With frame data, videos, guides, etc. it's easier to understand a game such as 3s.
@31 Yeah I get what you are saying but, what I'm trying to say is why people even care to biatch about this game still until this day. So it's catered more to high level players so what. Isn't SSF4 catered more to low level players? I'm just saying why do people even care at this point. No one is forcing anyone to buy the game. If you're not that good or just like SSF4 better just stick to that, it's fine. So they are remaking a game for the hardcore fans. What's the big deal? Why do people that suck at the game 10 years ago still have to biatch about the game until this very day. You have SSF4 now so drop it. I enjoy both games and wouldn't biatch about it even if I didn't I just would move on.
Lately it seems everything that gets posted gets nothing but non-stop hate, I wonder why the haters bother making accounts and posting on a website that is Capcom-centric.
Seriously, gtfo and let us enjoy the games we like.
The filter looks like SuperEagle or Super2xSAI from GGPO. Lol, nothing big to jizz over.
I've a SNES emulator on the PS3(jailbroken ofc) running games utilizing a HD filter and it looks quite crisp and sharp. I assume 3rd Strike will just be something like that. can provide pix if needed.
LittleMDR wins. Stop bitching.
And Odin, the reason why MVC3 fails? It's one of the most popular games currently. Why do so many people dislike it? X-Factor lvl 3, it's too easy, the randomness, and the high damage. But people still play it because Mahvel is crack. But enough bitching man, you're coming off as a whiny hater.
Look, I liked the game ALOT. But not as much as the purists. But c'mon....you guys are actually gonna pay for a filtered port? And how much again? Where is the "WOW" they bragged about?
Stop excepting mediocrity guys.
Excuse the misspelling. Im typing one-handed.....
No, im not doing that....
OdinReborn got bodied in every SF related game he ever played. He's two beatings away from entering Odin sleep. Scrub.
Why so salty? Directed at everyone just ignore the hate and keep moving forward.
SF3:OE real screenshots?? Maybe.

I have this strange feeling that CapComSucks and HokutoShi tKen are the same person, any1 seeing it ?
Street Fighter II's models were outdated, so it needed the HD overhaul. Would have looked crappy with filters. The HD remix was hit and miss for me though. I didn't like how all the characters turned out.
Street Fighter III on the other hand, the sprites still look great, and always will. Look at Blazblue. Yeah, that game has some great sprites, but they take forever to make. Which is why the roster is small. If SFIII got an HD remix, it would take ages, and would have to be sold as a retail release to make their money back.
Plus, in my opinion the filter looks great, and I'm sure you can just turn them off, as they are not needed on a tube TV.
(Though if on a tube TV with filters, it looks pretty slick. PSN/XBL release of Mahvel, it makes the really dated sprites look great.)
erm with lag online and stuff, how will we be able to play this game online properly ? won't parrying be much harder to do ?
@48
Thanks for showing us how crappy 3S looks with a emulator filter.
What they are doing is much much better, I laugh at those who think it's just a filter, we'll see.
@Jinzo
GGPO isn't going to run SFIII once OE is released.
@49. anything negative? pretty much everything scrubs in eventhubs whine about is negative. Sht is pretty tiresome actually.
3s: too hard
sf4: too ez, ultra is scrubby, sagat OP, ryu OP
ssf4: too balanced
ssf4ae: too unbalanced, YUN OP
mvc2: too hard, only 7 real chars, broken
mvc3: too ez, 2 much damage, lvl 3 x factor, broken,
etc. etc. etc.
Learn to live with it guys. Grow up.
Guys, I've been very confused as to Capcom's approach to this re-release. They didn't rebalance it, which surprised me, although I'm not dissapointed. They didn't remix it with redrawn sprites. They just filter the game. I know Capcom is aware of why the game failed when it came out in 99'. But Capcom is a business about making money. So I've been thinking of what they could possibly be planning for this. Here's what I think they have up their sleeve. I think they're working on an online that will run smooth as butter as far as player connectivity, with a lot of content that we expect should be the standard fair: lobbies, replays, etc. Then I think they're going to have an extensive tutorial mode for the game, unlike any we've seen before in their games. Although it's the hardcore players that keep Capcom games alive, it's the casual players that bring Capcom all the money. They HAVE to cater to the casual in some way. I have no idea what they have planned for this game, but I think the few things I mentioned will be in it. I just know Capcom is pretty confident with this title. Tell me what you guys think about what I said.
ur saying GGPO is so good that it will negate all online lag ? if that is the case then I wanna see some results. I want to buy this game at the same time I find it would be a waste, sf3
SO was practically on xbox minus the better sprite quality.
@66
I agree with your possibilities. I'm content with the game's re release period. They could leave it alone and I would still download it day 1. but capcom said they would make me wet my pants so we'll see. (I'm down for remixed music of the already amazing music selection).
@66 i would like trials that would be nice and replays would be great for training
Who should i main 3s ken or yun.....in ssf4ae should i use sagat yun fei or yang?
Not sure what all the fuss is about.
1) Any real player does NOT want a Re-Balance. For what? So it can be ignored in the competitive scene like HD Remix?
Wait... Did I say "competitive scene?", I should have said IGNORED Completely!
2) Guess what, NO ONE was going to re- draw this game better than the original artists! The drawings themselves are freaking amazing! The problem is that the original art is pixilated. Solution? Smooth the pixels to make it look like the original hand drawn!
It's what I expected. And I'm happy.
@ robot_mauk
Yeah, I WANT to wet my pants. But they haven't given us anything yet. Also, I LOVE 3rd Strike's music. Best soundtrack of ANY fighting game imho. It would be nice if they could remix it to be even better, but im scared they'll mess it up LOL. All they're recent games have generally lack-luster music. Except for HD Remix. Perfect.
I think it's pointless to complain about this game before it comes out it's not like your immediate complaining is gonna stop the game from being made. When the game comes out it will have a demo, from there we can get a clear understanding about what this game will give us.
Also E3 around the corner so lets just wait and see.
The way the music would improve is to make it more intense in all the right spots but keep the original feel over all
Haters on this site are so sad. If they had spent years re-drawing it, would you have all ran out and spent $60.00 on it? No.
Do the people who say "it's the same three characters over and over" have a clue what they are talking about? No.
This game used to be the KING fellas. Now it's a $15.00 DL title. WTF did you want? It'll be the great old game we remembered, plus online goodies, HD filters, probably an art gallery, online rankings, trophy pack, titles and icons I'm sure.
So gimmie a break.
I am not surprised but I am annoyed...what a cheap f**king way to screw us Capcom. SFII had a major aesthetic revamped work and Capcom gave 3rd Strike - our generation's SSFII turbo - the left offers which no body wants.
Does it hurt to revamp the sprites and charges for us...I am sure many of would pay a premium to see our beloved 3rd strike characters redrawn in high resolution with a few extra stages. Thanks to the pics, the majority of the resources went into the online features and I am hoping it some of that money goes to the netcode as well because that's the only left to keep interested in buying this game.
@72
This.
After skimming through the comments, you sir have definitely won the award for most logical. I guess people want to hate so they just nit-pick on a game they barely played.
@83
No prob.
Capcom said they were releasing Third Strike: Online Edition. That just means normal 3s with online modes too. If they gave extra characters, BGs, music, balance, graphics, etc it would be 4th Strike and they'd advertise it as such. I guess some people just couldn't decode the game's title ;D
In all respects, I believe #84 and #85 said it best. However, just for the sake of hearing themselves preach,(like me) we'll probably hear more misinterpretations anyways.
If you didnt like 3s back then, you probably still won't like it. Unfortunately, you now how a podium to voice your opinion called the internetz.
Uh when did they say the game was ever going to be in HD lol. They even said that the game wasn't in HD and that their'd be something else that's supposed to make us wet or pants. I'm not impressed because I already knew it wouldn't be HD and there's nothing else that will make me like the game.
High-budget Kung Fu street fighter movie. Actual Kung Fu.
The graphic filter is just like the filter that was used on Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and other games like Sega's Golden Axe. The definition is actually more blurred, I definitely wouldn't call it an improvement.
Tis a shame, they should have given it the HD treatment like HD remix. SFIII 3rd strike is deserving of that much, at least.
@OdinReborn
OdinReborn, please STFU you racist POS. I lived in Minnesota, and almost everyone who was associated one way or another with white-supremacist movements had a strong fetish with Odin, Thor, Valhalla, Valkeries, etc... and all the stuff with Nordic/Viking myth. So your name gives away your racially charged biased stance.
Coincidentally, A LOT of neo-nazis also like to play street fighter too. They obviously hate the game when the top-tier character is Chinese and such. I remember back in Third-Strike, most nazis who played the game always wanted "Alex" the Nordic American guy to be the top-tier and they hated the fact that Chun-Li and Yun were at top tiers.
Now things have moved on. During SSF4, most nazis were REALLY happy with the fact that Guile, Blonde-Blue eye American Soldier guy, was top-tier. They are also ANGRY at the fact that Guile is no longer top-tier in SSF4-AE. They also HATE the fact that Chinese guys are top-tier in SSF4-AE.
People may find it weird that white-supremacists and neo-nazis play street fighter, a japanese fighting game, but the fact is that a lot of them do. I personally know of people who are part of white supremacist organizations that play the game every night.
And the neo-nazis who play street fighter obviously have strong biases in terms of which characters they like and which characters they don't like. Does anyone else notice the fact that Guile in SSF4 got little to no HATE even though he was wayyy unbalanced, but Yun is getting TONS of hate in SSF4-AE??? Answer: Racist bias on the part of a lot of the players.
Oh, BTW. I didn't think that I would need to mention this, but Cammy is also a favorite amongst the nazi street fighte players.
With that being said, I'll end my little rant here.
WTF too much info... Can't we all just get along. Well am I hype for the game not really if it was A3 or A2 you bet your sweet ass I would but personal preference aside give the people what they want also this whole stupid argument between 3 and 4 should end both games at high level are excellent to watch and for those that argue derp 4 is easy then why ain't your ass winning tournaments. Same goes for those that are duh all I have to do is pick Yun/Chun/Ken and I can win sorry ain't that easy.
Well in the end of the day I'll buy the game it's the only one (next to the EX series) that I never really played just a couple of times in the arcade.
@CapComSucks : You obviously know what to expect and still you come here to get trolled? If you don't like what capcom does then go somewhere else. There must be something your better at than following stuff that you don't like and leaving bullcrap comments.
@OdinReborn
You make a lot of great points talking about the casual players. One of the most basic things, canceling (Such as a special moves like a Ryu c.MK> Hadoken) is something my casual player friends had no idea existed. It's simple mecahnics like those that need to be cleared up. It gets annoying sometimes how Capcom keeps such a tight grip on the competitive side but leaves a high slope for casuals to enter. I want to play SF with my friends, but am always denied with the "Let's play a game we're ALL good at."
Anyways, onto the main topic. This isn't what I was hoping for. I expected more. Then again, Capcom is known for it's fan-milking. Seriously, the amount of money they earn, you think they could produce something A LITTLE more polished? Everytime I purchase a game I feel like I'm lighting a dollar on fire.
THe " i got this already on GGPO and mame" guys are funny .
What the hell else did you expect from Capcom ?
You guys have been complaining for eons and requesting a re-release , and its there . I suppose in the hope of some fresh blood and renewed interest over the game , wich you might get .
So what do you want ? It's obvious the game wasnt really and entirely made for emu freeloaders (or people who actually bought the gme back then and play it on emus) but for folks who didnt own it yet , or want it on their newer consoles .
You know some of you will still buy it for the sake of playing it on PSN/XBl , and the rest were never going to give a rat's ass about it , and are being bitter for the heck of it .
Besides losing official ggpo support , does it even bother you and prevent you from still freeloading the damn game ? No ? so stop pretending you'd have liked whatever capcom was going to propose for the re-release . Hell had they rebalance the game , we still would be at +120 posts of complaints .
@105
"You guys have been complaining for eons and requesting a re-release"
Careful who you include in that. Personally I don't give a rat's ass about this game. Never played it. Heard it's hard as balls. I'm not dying nor eager to play it. I don't want to sound ignorant, but I like a game that looks good. Of all the money Capcom earns, they could at least produce something a little nicer.
For the record, with this little picture, I'm still not dying to play it.
^ I see plenty of hate thrown at you in your future just saying *hands over riot shield*
I do not know if its been stated, but I expect they include all the theme music throughout each version.
I would love to have Sharp Eyes as Ibuki's theme or Tomboy for Elena. I bet the option will be there to select which SF3 version theme you want for which character.
Yep I heard many 3s requests before, now that we are getting it, we are complaining. it'shuman nature to never be satisfied.
@ 95
get a grip of your life m8
A true fighting game enthusiast will lap this game up.
They say (it isnt if u do correct motion ;) ) its harder to do a dragon punch... lol
on a sidenote a big lol to ppl who claim motions are harder in older games... go play HF they say lol@them motions shouldve been learned b4 sf4 :D end pointless ranting
only posted due to 95's pathetic post
My God! All that money CAPCOM poured into these filters...it was worth every ounce of effort that went into crafting these MASTERPIECES!
Sarcasm aside, why are they even bothering to rerelease it? They're bound to lose money, if their claims of having the 'biggest budget of any rehaul' are correct.
Third Strike already almost killed Capcom and now they're just re-releasing it with no real updates. Same game that almost led to their demise. Tons of other failures they made couldve almost ended them. But no game ran with the title of almost killing Capcom, longer and harder than 3S, man. If anyone actually thinks, if anyone actually thinks that SF3 3S WAS NOT just the wrong game, at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Well then they're blinded marks. And as for the music. Let me explain it one more time, so you can really understand, scrubs. If you actually think that "Ken Jazzy NYC Theme 99'" is better than his original SFII theme, well then you're an even bigger delusional basterd than your mark comments led me to believe. Same goes for any SF3 chun li theme, the all suck, especially when compared to her original. How about M. Bison. His orginal theme is real good too... Oh wait. He's not in 3S, another reason why that game sucks. Just trade the real boss out for Gil, a half red, half blue, long blonde haired, white bannana hammock loser. I don't want anyone trying to argue to me about why he doesn't suck or how he's better than Bison(Dictator, whatever u call him.) get out of here with that trash.
@117: You forgot to mention how many people consider it to be a grim and gritty Street Fighter, with the final boss being an 700 pound genetically superior Emperor of the Illuminati. ;)
Are you guys really this butthurt about about 3S? Guess what? There are actually people who like it and will buy it. This game is made online cuz fans have been demanding for it for years. If you think otherwise you are lying to yourselves. You are also lying to yourselves if you don't think it'll be a top seller on PSN and XBL. If you hate the game so much, simply don't buy it. No need to hold a grudge against the game for 10 years and cry that it's coming out online because fans actually demanded for it.
By the way, for all you guys that wanted them to HD Remix the game, look at ST. Do you know how many people hated it? We like 3S for what it is. In essence, I suspect the majority complaining has never even playes 3S, so unless you've actually played it, don't just make assumptions.
@112
Is that the best you can do??? Just blatantly call me a troll when I talk about the reality of the fact that there are many SF-players who are now actively part of White-Nationalist and neo-Nazi organizations?
Call me a troll when I talk about the fact that most of the nazi SF-players have strong biases in favor of Guile and Cammy and they want those two to be top-tier and how they hate the fact that Chinese characters are now top-tier in AE?
Anyways, your use of rhetoric is not going to suppress any info.
@115
I have a good grip on my life already. Thank you very much. I know what I see and what I hear in my surroundings, the place where I've lived.
And what I witnessed was many neo-nazis being addicted to this Japanese fighting game, Street Fighter. And what I also witnessed was that these guys have a strong tendency to favor characters like Guile, Cammy, Alex, Karin, etc... and I don't think that I need to waste my time explaining why that is.
I think anybody who sez negative stuff clearly doesn't play the game hell watch a video you retards you'll see that yeah two noobs okay it like sf2 and if don't put in the time then don't complain. This game proves with a system like the parry tiers mean nothing. Either learn how to play the game is parrying or focus or don't play online.
It looks awesome and yeah its obviously more than a filter going on here.
Could people please stop calling 3S "hard", 3S is just as easy as any SF game, no more, no less. So please, I know 3S fans are in the minority, but please stop calling everyone else scrubs fro their opinion on the game. Otherwise, I'm going to have to reveal your secrets 3S fans. Still ranting? OK ...
Option Select Parrying.
It's out. Sorry guys. Non-3S fans just press F+LP/LK or D+LP/LK and you'll parry/throw every attack. Skill? Just as much as SF anything. "Oh you have to press forward? This is indeed a game for the gods."
One last thing, for those saying that 3S looks outdated, what are, 12? Do you only play games that are in HD? Graphics aren't everything. The people complaining and have never even played, are you really not even going to bother to give it a chance simply because "It looks outdated"? If you're really not going to buy 3S or even give it a chance simply because of a stupid reason like, "it looks outdated", then go back to your precious SSF4 and stay there.
By the way, I like SSF4 and I also play HDR.
I love how half the comments have nothing to do with anything. Stay raging, Eventhubs.
On-topic:
Whoop-de-freakin'-do. The graphics are smoothed. OH WAIT I DON'T CARE. This entire exercise has yet to do anything that impresses me. It's a 10-year-old game, which has had practically no changes made to it except a graphic filter and online play, and Capcom (and I quote) expect us to piss our pants? Lolno. I'll get it because I wanna play 3S online, but all I've seen from this project is the BARE MINIMUM - stuff they couldn't have gotten away with NOT doing.
@121
lol almost everyone of a certain generation played sf back in the days , of course you'd get some that'd be neo nazis .
And of course those white supremacist would love white characters instead .
Basically you dont even have a point . That's like stating they'd play cod .. who doesnt ? And of course they'd pick the good ol' american soldiers .
OMG IT LOOKS SO AMAZING TAKE ALL MY MONEY CAPCOM
No but seriously, I'm already running 3s on my jailbroken PS3 using FBANext at 60 FPS with HQ4x and triple buffering with no input lag. Something tells me all we're going to get from Capcom besides online is the choice between "smooth" or "crisp" graphics.
@129
Karin may be Japanese, but haven't you noticed that her hair is blonde and that her facial features are clearly European??? Her nationality may be Japanese, but her race looks like it's white.
Same thing with Ryu. Ryu may be Japanese by nationality, but he is clearly a "White Japanese." The Nazi sf players love to brag about the fact that Ryu is Japanese by nationality but White-European by race.
Hell, even Chun-Li looks more white than she does Asian.
But Yun is different. In SSF4-AE, Yun clearly has distinctive "Asian" features. If Yun had white-European facial features like Karin and Ryu, then they wouldn't be getting half as much hate as he is getting now.
Likewise, if Guile was an African-American soldier, he would have been getting MUCH MUCH more hate in SSF4.
@131
It may be obviously to you that many gamers in the street fighter community are now actively part of neo-Nazi, KKK, and other white-nationalist organizations, but you can't automatically expect everyone else to be knowledgable on such things.
Matter of fact, there have been many folks who are shocked to even hear about me talking about neo-Nazi street fighter players.
A lot of people in the street fighter community think that white-supremacists will avoid games like street fighter because it is Japanese people who designed the game.
@137: This just in: everyone who hates Yun is a card-carrying racist!
@139
Pffft. Nice try at your pathetic game of denial there buddy.
What I clearly said was that racially motivated bias is clearly a factor for why SSF4-AE's Yun is receiving at least 100x more hate than Cammy and Guile did in SSF4. And I've explained my reasoning in posts 94, 95, 121, 122, 137, and 138.
I never said that EVERYONE who hates Yun is automatically a neo-Nazi. Sure there are Asians, Blacks, Mexicans, etc... who hate Yun as well. I never said there wasn't.
Saying that Racism is a HUGE factor is causing Yun to receive an unusually large amount of hate is not the same thing as saying that everyone who hates Yun is automatically a nazi.
@142
"Psst, no one is falling for your troll bait."
hahaha. You're clearly in denial here bud. Pssst, people are not stupid. It's not hard to realize that something is getting underneath your skin.
Hmm, I wonder what could that be that's getting underneath your skin. Could it be the fact that I'm openly talking about the underlying racist bias on the part of many Street fighter players???
Now if I ain't getting underneath your skin then why are you responding to so many of my comments rather than ignoring me???
Looking good Ono San
