In a financial report released by Capcom today, they stated that the retail release of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition sold 300,000 units in about a week's time. It doesn't appear that DLC numbers were given in the report, but Capcom mentioned that the title, "basically achieved projected sales."does this mean we get the TU for ae to fix glitches... lets hope...
If ae was able to sell 300 k its first week then umvc3 should be able to push 900k its first week in the state of california alone.
good news, this mean ultimate super streetfighter 4 arcade edition next year??,shutup and take my money capcom.
Awesome! now please make more fighting games for the PC.
so what.. jarky.. if all this stupid morons buy the DLC over and over again. why not milk them more?
thats also for stuff like CoD were stupid MAPS cost 15 euro or something (not with me)
but yea.. the mass will still buy it. even if they add megaman for 50$ im pretty sure people would buy it
I wouldn't mind paying more for more characters. Never used Yang, Oni, or Evil Ryu, but Yun is such a fun character and was worth the price. Street Fighter IV is the funnest street fighter, i hope Capcom continues to expand on it. The audience is massive....and i agree with the other posters, i would pay CAPCOM!!!
Looks like we'll definitely be seeing that updated Street Fighter Alpha that Ono's already working on, then.
@13 i agree, at the end of the day its only demand and supply, if no-one in the end bought their re-issues of their games, then they couldnt take the same risks, but people still complain and buy the game still.
The thing is the "community" wants newly balanced gameplay, new characters and stages, but the minute capcom release a new version, they have an onslaught of people complaining that "this is not what the community wants" and "Capcom is milking us dry!!" (which they are not as you can refuse at any stage not to buy their game). Confusing eh?
@ 3
Nobody wants ur 2 story cardboard box. I shouldn't say nobody, it IS a 2 story haha.
Joking aside, maybe they can spend some of the extra cash on research and find out we don't like intentionally unbalanced games. NOw let me give you Capcom guys my address in order for yall to send me my check.
Maybe if you didnt have slightly tweaked CLONES of who you already have it would have been GREAT sales not OK sales.
Rolento, Elena, Hugo, Q, Birdie or Karin would have been better than
ANNOYING The Twins and The Twins of Ryu and Akuma (aka MORE SHOTOS)
Wow, all you people patting Capcom on the back, willing to pay for more "updates" and all this Hyper Ultimate Arcade edition bullcrap are the stupidest sheep I've ever witnessed. How can people with so much money to blow on video games be so Godforsakenly stupid???
Crapcom can shove it. Officially spitting on there name as soon as Ultimate marvel was announced. Way to bring in an "update" of a game the same year the first one was made.
And all you fighting game dillweeds just eat it all up.
God.
#25 If you don't like it, then what in the name of god are you doing here?
"The company also reported a 37 percent decrease in sales"
That's because a lot of people are salty about the game constantly being re-released.
@26 you realize twelve characters is equivelant to what blazblue launched with? It's basically a whole games worth of new characters.
I think it is ridiculous what Capcom is doing - UMVC3 in the same year is particularly fragrant...
I thought what they did w/ SF4 was bad and yes I did not buy and won't buy MVC3 series or more SF4 updates b/c I think its ridiculous how they are milking people...
However, with that said, everyone on here would do the same if you knew people were going to buy it (me included)! First and foremost, Capcom is a business. They are not here to simply please us (though they do a good job for the most part).
If you really want to send a message, don't buy their stuff. Apparently enough people do, but I think you should not be mad at Capcom - do you really expect a business to stop doing something that is making them a lot of money (or maybe not according to this article...)??!?!
The community should get mad at the people buying all this stuff promoting tourney's with the updated games instead of previous versions etc.
Capcom's profit margin will dictate all. If you really want to stop the madness you have to hurt them in their wallet. Support vanilla SF4/SSFIV or vanilla MVC3 tourneys... or just complain online and keep buying their stuff... ... ...
Capcom has a monopoly on the Fighting game genre. I'd really like to see someone like Bungie or Epic make a fighter. They'd have it just end up being a hack and slash game probably.
Also @32, MvC3 is wayyyyyyy to beginner friendly. For a Scrub, SF4 has a high learning curve. Don't even ask about 3rd Strike. They're going to put that game down as fast as they picked it up, lol.
@25- Did it ever occur to you that updates are made because people WANT more content? It's not the other way around, f@ckhead. You don't blow money on an update without fan support. And don't pretend nobody supported SSFIV/UMvC3 just because YOU didn't. WTF do you think sites like capcom-unity and SRK are for, dipsh!t?
UMvC3 did come out sooner than anyone would have liked, but big f@cking deal. Chances are the price would be the same if it was released as DLC a year from now. Probably higher, because $5 a character puts the total at $60. If you don't want to pay for added content, that's fine. But stop being a f@g and let people spend their money however they want, while you go back to playing EA sports games, CoD, Guitar Hero or whatever the f@ck else you're conveniently not attacking. With your mom's c0ck up your ass, as usual.
Also, I've stated before. It is way too late for people to start "boycotting" capcom. They've been doing this for years now, and most people have gotten use to the fact that, capcom is most likely going to keep doing it. The best time to do it was when they kept re-releasing SF 3rd, but no, people gladly sucked up that game without a problem. I guess it partially has something to do with the lack of GOOD internet back then, but still, it is way too late to do something about it now, And i'm not missing out on GOOD added content.
@25 I take it you never bought a expansion pack before?
@the whiners like #25: It's called an expansion. Bethesda did it with Knights of the Nine and Broken Steel, etc. Rockstar did it with Undead Nightmare and The Lost and The Damned, etc. Developers like to have disc releases because when parents go xmas or birthday shopping, they can't see DLC on a shelf and pick it up. These expansions get sold for massively reduced prices. SSF4 was half the price of SF4, and unlike other expansions didn't also require you to buy the original game. Explain where you got screwed.
This is a "mixed bag". It does state that Capcom is making money. Which is good for us. However, it says that it is doing so with fewer titles. And it does not say if or what the projections are regrading projected gross sales for the next year let alone the next quarter. And while the profit margins are slightly up, I have to believe, according to this report, that Capcom is on a pace of "scaling back".
Basically, IMO, we will see less. And only then on what Capcom is banking on as a "sure thing". They are going into a conservative mode. And conservation almost always seems to stifle innovation in some way.
Good news to take from this: they didn't close any arcades. Yet, they are not building either.
Only meeting "expected" sales means that Capcom will probably move on from Street Fighter 4. So, I don't believe there will be another update. Especially if it means that the arcade versions will also be needing the same update.
If the sales were higher than expected, than it would have been hope to expect more Street Fighter IV updates. Everything is fine, though. This means they can start focusing on the next Street Fighter series.
It's exciting to think what Street Fighter V's battle system will be like. I like the idea of Focus Attacking, but I don't like how dash cancelling dominated professional play. I would like something simple like Street Fighter II, but balanced like Super Street Fighter 4. I would also like having modes like team battles, where you pick 2 characters or something before a match. That would even be interesting to see in IV, and I wonder why they didn't implement more "fun" modes like this.
Well I feel as if Super Street Fighter 4 had a great run, but it's time to move onto new engines and new ways of battling.
Thats pretty good.
