Desk was nice enough to message Antiheroforhire and explain what happened in this video.
AHFH: Bug-finder God extraordinaire, Desk (biffotasty), was nice enough to message me and explain why this works the way it does. In his words:
Desk: Yeah, that's really cool. I've been able to reproduce it, and it works because Yun's cr. RH has to allow for the 2nd hit of his target combo. So, the opponent will suffer a hard knockdown, but also be in a juggle-able state. This means that if you're interrupted you can reversal U1 or EX up-kicks and it will connect. The oddest thing is that if you trade with a normal and are able to hit back soon enough (there's a very small window), they'll be fully vulnerable to everything, even throws. This is why Seth remains grounded during the ultra. It's as if he was just in a vulnerable, standing state. Oh, and did I mention this seems to work on everyone?
Yeah, I kind of figured something like this might arise. I've been doing sweeps after trading my sweep with another attack. But into Ultra 2... awesome find.
We need more videos of this for a more definitive confirmation about it before all the Yun whiners start up with their knee jerk crybaby reactions.
@18
If we go by that logic, then we'll have to ban almost all fighting games from every tournament.
We'll have to ban MVC3, we'll have to ban MK9, etc...
@15
I did read through all of Desk's explanation, but I said that we'll need more solid proof of this happening.
It's still a little too early to draw conclusions from just one video. BTW, lots of glitches happen during online play that will not happen during any offline gameplay.
For example, LiangHuBBB has made LOTS of videos of the "Funny, Wierd SF4 moments" series. Those videos are found all over YouTube.
And in those videos, there are TONS of glitches that can only happen in online play, but cannot be done during any offline play. This thing here may be just another one of those online glitches that won't happen offline.
Like I've said already. We only have one video to see so it's a little too early to draw conclusions of whether or not this thing here will be of any problems in tournaments.
@23
We'll need some documented proof and evidence before we can buy any of what you say.
For all we know, you could just be BSing us because you hate Yun as a character and you'll say whatever's needed to get Yun nerfed, regardless of whether it's true or not.
I love one of the top-rated comments, something like:
"So Yun can OTG? Why am I not surprised..."
DAT MAHVEL TECH
@ fireinthehole,
I don't think this is remotely possible in high level play (at least intentionally).
It's very difficult to intentionally pull off.
If you try to re-create it in training mode yourself, you'll see, it's HARD to replicate. The frame and timing in which you have to input the ultra is so beyond marginal, and it only works (?) after a normal trade. You'd have to have the cognitive reflex timing of a psychic, expecting a trade, while buffering to do your ultra anyway.
Yun definitely couldn't stand up to his kung fu, because he was knocked down. Kappa
fireinthehole how do you need more proof than a video of it happening? thats like seeing a video of a man robbing a store and smiling in front the camera before he leave and he gets off in court due to lack of evidence...
yun can do it, it was explained how its done, and its been stated that it works on all characters which makes sense due to the nature of why it works.
there's no getting around it. mind you to do it you would have to OS ultra two after every sweep for you to do it consistantly
Maaaaaan,how dare you use Gambit music?
And, that slow motion was the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
But, anyway, I can't see this happening too often.
Let me sure I get this straight...this only happens when you exchange normals, correct? What often do people have the reactions to do an Ultra after that exchange? I highly doubt this would be a issue...especially for pro players.
you don't get it. you don't need "reactions" to pull it off, you simply buffer it after the first hk. if the c.hk ~ hk trades your ultra / upkicks what ever will come out, if it doesnt his normal target combo will be done. no skill required here.
doesn't mean it'll happen often tho, but the "reaction"-thing is not a argument for this.
It (arguably) sort if IS a reaction problem though because if it requires a trade to combo, that means you're buffering for an ultra after every cr. HK (KKK included as apparently it has to come out as a reversal as well). That's not exactly practical, because if the dude you're versing doesn't throw out a normal (and trade) chances are likely you'll just whiff the cr. HK, and throw out a random ultra afterward.
You'd have to be versing a really predictable opponent that loved to throw out pokes! It's of course very possible in theory, but maybe not so practical.
Either or, I'm glad EventHubs picked this up before EVO. I'll be curious if any pro players notice this and somehow beneficially utilize it there (if it's even at all possible to execute half regularly on reaction) which I still think is rather unlikely.
#45 nah im sure hes just a yun player ;).
besides in response to #20's comment, as far as American tournaments are concerned, a twin has been in pretty much every top 4 since ae started becoming the default tourney game. which is scary considering we've only been able to play with him for a couple months, just imagine how bad the twins are going to tear it up at evo. Just don't try to say they aren't overrated, even capcom has stated multiple times that they are, they did it purposely to balance it with the release of ssiv ae 2k12
@45
No, just tired of the same old crap argument. Now they should be "banned" according to him? Lol, silly.
And why ban the "twins"? Did Yang do something I don't know about? Let's just ban any characters that we deem "too strong".
So no, I'm not mad. Just bored with the pathetic nature of 50% of the comments.
@47
I main Chun Li and Ryu. And while we've been using these character for only two months, the Pros you speak of... The ones placing top 8 (wow), have been using these characters for about 12 months!
It's "ARCADE EDITION" remember?!?
And while placing Top 8 is great and all, only two players have won ANYTHING using the twins! Daigo and Momochi, big surprise.
Even the great Justin Wong has had no success using them. He's even resorted to making pathetic excuses. Sad, because I'm a fan of the American Champ.
You just upped the idiot comment percentage to 51%, thanks.
:) :) :) :)
@46
With the right timing it shouldn't be. Provided you input the ultra fast enough, if the cr.hk whiffs you will still be in recovery animation when the ultra input becomes valid and nothing happens. If the cr.hk does trade, then your recovery is interrupted and the ultra comes out (might need to mash ppp or kkk to get proper reversal timing).
Try buffering a metsu or even any regular fireball while doing Ryu's cr.hk. Fireball won't even come out.
The point here is:
1. Dont ever mention Yang in this article. It is nothing related. Anyone use the word "the twin" are dumb and silly. Is "yun" longer and harder to type than "Twin". Dont think so
2. Yun C.HK is crap, unless you go for the target combo for meter(huh?) and push back. Otherwise, how often do you see a professional Yun player us Cr.HK. He has tons of other better options to go for.
3. Yun main Ultra is Ultra 1, because it is easy as hell to go into and unlike ultra 2 who require either genei jin OR on the ground 5th hit and cannot even juggle (drop after 1 hit), I dont think the ultra 2 will be popular because of this bug
So, for me, this bug is VERY VERY BAD and GAME BROKEN, but, a big but, it is unlikely that people will go for ultra 2 and a slow Cr.HK just for this setup. Still, if you prefer ultra 2, you may try to do what people suggest: buffer Ultra motion everytime you Cr.HK.
That dumbass still trolling on tubs nuts ugh anywho you would have to be mashing something fierce to get it aside from having on point reactions.
Also yang is perfectly fine no nerds needed he gets owned by grapplers his brother on the other hand...
Could of sworn something similar to this happening in 3s as well with the double sweep. He has easier way to combo into ultras, and attempting to trade hits with someone that hits harder wouldnt be a smart thing when you are low on health. Although this shouldnt be overly difficult to set up if you are going to attempt a would be meaty sweep after a knock down while buffering ultra.
@Grimmjow316
What wrong man lol finding out yun is giving gief as much problems and gief gives him? That B+HK can get more annoying than chun li's far HK, especially when done as a meaty on wake up.
@57
I think the guy who did this knew about it, and was going to OS either the target combo or Ultra 2. Notice how he kept buffering and mashing.
I've had that problem a bit not all of them know how to use it yet shhh. ;) but yeah I hate that thing its bad enough you have to watch out for random ex lunges as well.
patch tiem :D
