Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 costume details, may be single player surprises in store

A few new details about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 were talked about today at a Comic-Con panel. This mostly deals with the extra pre-order costumes, and other minor information as well. Nothing amazing here, but if you want to check out everything you can, read on.

• Costumes available are going from four outfits to six, at least for now.

• Plans for DLC costumes are still being finalized. There will likely be more ways to pick up the outfits than just pre-ordering at certain stores.

• Capcom is still thinking of ways to get other cool costumes for the characters in the game.

• Someone was quoted as saying: "We're still working on this game so we haven't hit a point where we're even thinking about DLC yet. We put a lot of work into making those additional outfits, it's a whole new model design."

• Capcom has added more endings for all of the new characters. There are more expanded elements in the story because of that. More give and take between the characters. There may be some single player surprises as well.

• In the "Keeping It Classic" collection, Ghost Rider gets his 90's costume, Hawkeye gets his original look, Hulk has modified pants, She-Hulk gets her Fantastic Four costume, plus an alternate Dormammu and original Captain America.

Kotaku also added this bit about the additional costumes in UMvC3.

There will be more alternate costumes for each character, Niitsuma said, representing the designers' desire to deliver more than a color swap, said Marvel's Chris Baker. Phoenix was used as an example, showing a wardrobe of six costumes, showing the base white/yellow and blue/gold combinations found in the standard Marvel vs. Capcom 3, adding suits found in her appearances in New X-Men, X-Factor from the 1980s, and Age of Apocalypse (in which her hair is not short, but she still features the Phoenix symbol over her eye.)

Further, "evil versions" of characters, inspired by the 1990s Super Nintendo game War of the Gems will make their way into Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Evil Hawkeye, Iron Man and Wolverine were shown.

I miss the gratification I got from working my ass off to earn enough points to unlock characters/costumes in the MVC2 store. Besides the titles and 4 characters, Player points served no purpose.

Heres too some specials atls like Hulk looking like The Thing,felicia looking like cat women and viewtiful joe,getting his human normal form!

I hope colors/costumes will be selected in a sub-menu like in SF4 instead of a button based selection like it is now in MvC3 because I have a stick with 6 buttons and at the moment I can't choose the alt costumes unless I make a pre-made team

@14 They've stated that they can only do the one color because Marvel has to approve everything, even a color swap. To have the new costume model, and then have the color swaps on top of that wouldn't be realistic if they wanted to get these out in a timely manner.

I'm so glad that they have been added Spectator Mode. Now we can be busy while they fight. I'm still making sure that the gigantic character leak was a fake so I can look for more girls and identify Poison and Sindel.

I really want to see what costume design they come up with for Felicia and Hsien-Ko. Only could think of too for them (Nun Felicia, Dress Felicia(Demetri's midnight bliss), Chef Hsien-Ko, and Hsien-ko with her sister's design.

I suggest people start crying and asking question about the dlc costumes having color options now before its to late. I'm pretty sure people are so overwhelmed with the new characters and spectator mode that we will forget to ask about atl colors.

They already said that they wouldn't in the Niitsuma interview. I think Marvel is against them having alt colors, because it wouldn't be true to the comics for Iron Patriot to be any other color for example.

A really cool alternate costume for Amaterasu would be one of Oki (the Oina warrior from Okami) in his wolf form. A Shiranui DLC costume would look cool too, but I wouldn't want to cough up too much cash just to give Ammy a few more red stripes.

It's starting to seem that marvel is holding capcom back from its true potential. If what #40 says is true then why don't they give there capcom dlcs more colors? Has nothing to do with marvel.

Because then people would be asking as to why the Marvel ones don't have more colors? Because it would be impossible to do the way colors are selected? To keep things symmetrical? I don't know, check the interview they did on the stream. I don't remember exactly why, I just remember him confirming that there won't be more colors for alt costumes.

off subject, but did you see Storms hail storm, x-factor in the air, hail storm again? Omg that is crazy damage/chip and safe. Not sure if air x-factor is a good thing. That alone will make storm high tier.

A lot of hypers on the ground have crazy damage/chip and are safe when you do hyper kfc hyper. It's no different in the air, and this time around X-factor isn't as strong.

You still use up your X-Factor to do it. And from the looks of things Storm has gotten a few nerfs, so it doesn't matter anyway. And should we really get rid of air X-factor, which provides the opportunity for many new cool set-ups, just becasue Storm can do a lot of damage with it?

You Guys have seem to forgotten that new move Viewtiful joe got.

His slow dodge,will dodge anything for a matter of seconds then just cancel into a super or whatever you can cancel to. Its a great manuever for physical fighters and beamers who is a few meters away. Dont you remember how Joe did it in the UMVC3 trailer against wolverins super!

I hope they give Zero his Nightmare Zero color from X6, complete with the black Z-Saber. And maybe a proper Black Zero color (not a Bass color), with a purple Z-Saber (like the Tenkuuha skill from X4, or Shot Eraser from X5 and X6.)

Oh! I just thought of a good new move for Zero. The Hyouretsuzan from Mega Man X4. It's this down air stab with an icicle instead of his Z-Saber (like how his Z-Saber changes during his Ryuenjin, the dragong punch move.) To make it interesting, this would freeze the opponent and they would travel downward along with Zero. They crash into the floor, the ice shatters, and a ground bounce would occur! Cool, huh?
