• G4TV interviewed Capcom product manager Ryan McDougall while they had hands on time with UMvC3. It goes over known details about the game, but it's a good way to recap.
• cc.coL|Mike Ross posted his thoughts about the community doubting their own players on Facebook.
• Kazunoko is now ranked #1 in the SSF4 AE BP rankings. Tip sent in by Ethancohn.
• Skd1337 completed Magneto's MvC3 missions blindfolded and posted the video to YouTube.
• XUpYourGameX has been covering the PSN side of Japanese online play on their YT channel. Tip sent by HAV.
Lol, Kazunoko has been ranked one for 2 weeks now.
Also, even older news, Daigo has an unique title: Warrior. Kazunoko and a BUNCH of others now have Ultimate Master title, whereas only Daigo and Mago (lost it) had it before console AE was out. It's like they changed the titles-system after AE was out in consoles.
Lol at the umvc3 recap as if we dont see enough of that as it is. But im not complaining haha
i totally agree with mike. i hate the weaboo mentality of think players are above another just because of their race. what's worse is that these people are americans belittling themselves. these same people probably think that japan is some magical place where teenagers fly giant bipedal robots in attempt to fight the oz corporation.
@9
http://bipedrobotnewsjapan.blogspot.com/
You mentioned something about Japan and biped robots?
Mike Ross is actually angry, DAMN! I feel sorry for anybody who has to play him at EVO, cause you know he's going there ready to body fools.
@4 Yeah I sent the tip in about two weeks ago too lol, with information about the Warrior rank
owell
He has every right to be angry. A lot of us scrubs are going around criticizing the people who actually go to tourneys, and dogging out our own and giving them no chance against international players.
I've got no hate for anyone from anywhere, and I definitely don't have the skill to body anyone of moderate skill myself. That said? Whenever I see one of the local players or US players matching up against one of the international players, I naturally cheer for the home team.
It's sickening how often the majority of the community assumes that our players are free before the match even starts, even some of the tourney mainstays themselves. That needs to stop.
Regarding Mike Ross if they want to consider this as an e-sport then these players like Justin Wong need to stop 'complaining' and straight up work harder to prove us wrong. Regardless in any sport like for example football in my country, fans will always complain and moan about their team not doing as well, how they all know better. However, the team would never badmouth the fans or call them out because its the fans who made them. Its not politics its down to the individual in the end.
The Japanese on the hand are different, they try to do their best and don't blame anyone if they fail. There's no bravado that I seen in them.
"It's sickening how often the majority of the community assumes that our players are free before the match even starts, even some of the tourney mainstays themselves. That needs to stop."
Seriously why should that bother them, they're professional E-sport players now. They shouldn't take that in consideration at all. Thats just garbage to me and just another excuse and I do hate the whole attitude it brings to the game because its ghetto. Regardless of country its the players I like most not because X is from Japan.
@ JasonLee no one thought he would do it last year either. I mean the guy beat Mago in Shadowloo showdown. He has earned his respect. In a tournament as big as EVO anything can happen which makes Daigo winning twice in a row all the more impressive.
The problem is the guys always talking crap on streams and forums. Always talking about "Look at this online Ryu lol!" But never actually go to tournaments. If you consider yourself any good EVO is the one tournament you should attend or you ARE just an online warrior. You've got all year to save up. If you think you are good enough to talk smack you should be there so you can back it up with your play.
Awww, I wanted to be the only person without a facebook account. Hopefully in ten years, I'll be the unique one!!!
Monterism - I don't know what world you live in but players have issues with the fans all the time. It bothers them. Watch or read espn sometime. Besides you watch a few choice online matches of the Japanese and assume they are unbeatable.
You guys will be surprised come EVO. Its like you guys already forgot F.Champ beating Daigo or Daigo being put out early in Seasons beatings I think it was. Sako going out early in a Cali tournament or PR Rog beating Tokido.
These guys aren't free.
^In the UK the players rarely complain about fans, maybe the culture is different in the US but at the end of the day as a professional in another field the fans don't make me play better and what they say shouldn't bother me. Why should I read the streams I should be trying to improve my game/skills because its just a waste.
Congrats to Fchamp, I knew that and he's good I even mentioned that in another thread. Regardless of country it shouldn't matter, I don't understand the whole Japan Vs USA thing.
@#26
if you dont understand the whole japan vs usa thing, on a simple level its about rivalry+pride. That should be simple to grasp given anything competitive nature have rivalries. Just look at sports for an easy example, even if you dont follow them.
I'm not from the US, so I can't say but I been in Japan long enough that sort of stuff being said on streams in the States doesn't happen often in Japan. Its a different culture and of course I understand it but he seems to be placing the 'blame' on the fans footstep. Its the internet for god sake of course you're going to talk trash, they wouldn't do it face to to face otherwise.
''ou hating anti-scene building frauds are the main reason why I'll be cheering EG.Justin Wong on when he pops off against tokido in mvc3 at evo. EADYFF''
This is kinda stupid to say, I get where he's coming from, but dont blame the actually Japanese PLAYERS. Daigo has always shown respect to the US, and I've never heard him say that America's free, tokido MAYBE, but he said he was afraid of PR rog and some others (I know PR is from rico, but hes living there now)
Its not the players, blame the people behind it. Also can anyone tell me who he is directing this to guys? Markman from madcatz is the only one I can think of, cause hes on purpose I think only getting international players
#30 ^Exactly ,put it much better than I did.
Its things like that which irks me about players complaining about such matters,
im not from US but i too get annoyed when i see idiots with the attitude "US so free". or blindly cheerleading japan. mike ross is in the scene. he has witnessed things u scrubs dont know anything about(like US players owning international players off air). so of course he is mad when he see's these riding comments.
also daigo clearly said some japanese talk crap about him. so yeah it happens in japan too. only difference is they dont root against their own in japan. its ok to be neutral, but dont blindly support japan over your own country just because they are japanese
Hi
Who said USA is free?. Seriously who has actually said that, I want a link to said person too.
US has some amazing players ie Clakey D, Combofiend, Latif, PR Rog...
@30: what the hell are you talking about?
"it sickens me to my stomach to see these armchair conquistadors post how bad America will get bodied"
Where in his message did he ever say he was blaming the Japanese players? His message was aimed at online trolls who don't even go to tourneys. Read better.
Its the Internet, we act like dicks because its the Internet with no reprecussions because otherwise if in real life you probably get bodied.
You guys talking all this "e-sports" stuff have to understand.. this is all VERY new to the SF scene.
The majority of known players have been playing competitively for around 10 years, if not more, and the scene was always just a large club. Everyone that commented on it, was in it. It was a fraternity. There were no "fans"; only players.
Now that there is a whole other element to it, players are taken aback. Especially when that element is almost entirely negative, whiny, and fails to contribute much of anything.
Mike Ross is one of the NICEST people I know (only behind Justin Wong, really... whom most of the whining armchair SF'ers Mike is talking about, think is the biggest jerk of all time... way off) , and he actually gains more from the existence of this class of fans more than 99% of people in the competitive scene.. so if he's this annoyed by it, it should say something.
Whatever though.. a facebook message isn't going to change anything.
Anyway.. you guys definitely need to check the UYG Youtube page. Features a good selection of Ultimate Master and Grandmaster players, playing on PSN , such as:
-6 (#1 BP Akuma in arcades... over Tokido.. plus a Grandmaster Cammy, and Master Evil Ryu)
FAX Gimoto (#5 BP Makoto in arcades.. Grandmaster)
Waike (#4 Grandmaster Juri)
Gachi Homottsun (#3 Grandmaster Sagat)
☆Katsuo☆ (Grandmaster Sagat)
Poongko
Shiro
NEW-SHIMAUTA (#3 BP Ibuki)
Isesuto (Grandmaster Viper)
Tonpy (Grandmaster Viper)
Sabohani (Grandmaster Viper)
MAAO (Master T. Hawk)
... among others.. with more players added almost daily. Check it out.
#33 are u serious? how do u want me to get u a link to that? watch streams, watch youtube videos, people say "US is free" all the damn time. if youre not aware of this, then maybe u shouldnt comment on mike ross' comments as i totally get why hes upset. he isnt directing it at normal fans, just the blind fanboys that think everything japanese is gdlk
Kennn said it before I could. :p
But indeed, it's often kind of a foregone conclusion, especially online. Of course the anonymity of the net makes it easier for that to happen, as many of the folks who post such things wouldn't dare say that face-to-face.
On the subject of not being annoyed by it because other sports players aren't? That's not true; in fact, in the US that's how a lot of sports figures get in trouble, lol. There's been numerous players who get caught up in twitter/facebook battles with fans, make snide comments about their fans publicly during interviews/conferences, or even face-to-face DURING games.
The major difference, of course, is that the face-to-face heckling is much more common in other competitive sports.
NO!!! NOOOOOOOO! NO NO NO NO! @skd1337
