I think this game really calls for some giant characters and they keep going with a small roster. I understand that the big-uns can only do so much, are usually slow and not used by a majority of players but they would look really good in this game. I hope there are a couple more reveals as time passes on.

They're not going to change the list, Mega Man will never be in. But I must say I'm a little disappointed in the leak, I mean if the list had just been leaked I would have been able to look forward to seeing how they would look. Oh well, I can't wait for gameplay footage!
All awesome except Virgil and Nova... but Virgil is in there for the teenagers and Nova... why the hell is Nova there? The cosmic Marvel fans already get Rocket Raccoon! I would have loved Cyclops of Juggernaut (And even though I wouldn't use him, Megaman deserves a place).
That being said, this is an awesome roster! I'm hoping Iron Fist has a move where he calls in Luke Cage for backup!

@94: Phoenix Wright is a defense attorney. Not a judge. Though I feel that he shouldn't be replaced. Nemesis is the one that should be replaced. We already have Chris, Jill, Wesker aka Team Stars. We want love for the Blue Bomber.
Capcom are terrible at retaining information. The roster is actually pretty interesting, adding some much needed colour and variety. Disappointed at Megaman's omission but after the cancellation of MML3, what did you expect?

Some of these where dead giveaways because quite a few of them showed up in the endings like Doc Strange in Hsien-Ko's / Iron Fist in Ryu's / Phoenix Wright in She Hulk's
Just like The Twins where foreshadowed in Chun Li's opening back when SFIV came out it seems like these characters where always going to be in the game no matter what it was pre-destined

Why is everyone complaining there's still DLC and I heard a rumor from a very reliable source the first 2 DLC characters could possibly be Venom and Mega-man and the next 2 I hear are some characters named Moon Knight who I never heard of and Demitri Maximoff who I also never heard of.

Everyone needs to stop complaining about Rocket Raccoon. If you are a marvel fan and have read the comics you would know that he is a great character to add. Most brilliant tactical mind in the galaxy and carries quite a few firearms. The poor decision was P. Wright. A lawyer has no business in a fighting game.
Frank West is BACK! I can finally use my main man from TvC once again! Let's just see how much is changed though, since they've changed quite a bit from all who came from TvC (as the last vs game) so I just hopefully (and still glad it's not Chuck Greene)
As for the rest I don't even KNOW (Except for kinda Nemesis), but I will happily try them out and try to learn and research the backstories and what not.
And for all those that are hating on the raccoon, at least you now have a proper Team Animal: Ammy, Felicia, Rocket Raccoon.
So hyped up now, despite that the fact that we're gonna have to wait quite awhile before this game is released... Dangit I wanna play it now! XD But here's hoping that they get most of the kinks out instead of needing patches ;)

The Capcom side is good, but Marvel fail this time, only three are good=Dr. Strange, Hawkeye,and Ghost Rider. Nova is just OK. I'm also surprised that they didn't add another Marvel female character. I hope there's some secret characters or at least some other planned DLC. Well still happy with Vergil, Strider, Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye,Nemesis,and Firebrand. Well that's 7 out of 5.

Also was hoping for Jedah from the Darkstalkers games. I guess having him in the game might raise the age rating though since most of his moves involve blood and cutting himself.
I am so pissed right now. Yea I am happy about Dr.Strange, Iron fist, and Vigil but seriously they preferred to add a powerless lawyer and a Raccoon over Cyclops who is the leader of the X-Men, Venom who is the most iconic villain on the Spiderman series, Megaman who is simply one of the franchises that made Capcom famous, and Bison who is the main villain of Capcom's most famous game series.
I had hopes for this Roaster, but I am now disappointed.

Nova as a character is pretty good. I dont mind him as a choice, I would have liked Psylocke instead but I think Nova could be an interesting addition to the game

I am in no way disappointed about a new Marvel game, or any new fighting game in general. I'm glad Capcom/Marvel decided to make a new game with a lot of different updates and focuses (including online play). I am slightly disappointed we need to go through 1-2 games to get one final product that I feel should have been the original all along. Still, after that said, I'm hyped for Ultimate MVC3 ^^.

I am a comic book fan as well and rocket raccoon is one of the best tacticians in the marvel universe as well as being extremely good at combat. Think cable except on a galactic scale. He is a tremendous marksman as well as a sarcastic funnyman
They should've had Ms. Marvel instead of Nova and Mega Man instead of Nemesis. Hell Nemesis might be the biggest waste of a character slot I've seen.

Well seems Capcom loves to screw me over lately first they cancel MML3(didn't have high hopes for it but love the series) then the new characters for UMvC3 and only half of Capcoms new fighters are even decent choices, Virgil was a dumb choice 2 DMC characters is enough for that terrible series, Frank west not a horrid choice but didnt need to join the game TvC was enough for him, and Phoenix Wright is the one of the absolute worst choices i have ever seen and anyone who actually wanted him in this game is a f*cking retard to the highest degree in no way should a lawyer with no fighting ability be in a fighting game

You're trying to bring a bit too much logic into a game that has a good Trish fighting with Sparda's sword at the same time as DMC3 Dante and Vergil (which logically prevents Force Edge from being unlocked).

Well if you are going by first appearances Captain Americas was in the 40's. and Spiderman's was in the 60's. He has been in more recent stuff. Look into the Guardians of the Galaxy comics. It's a good series staring Rocket

I don't like how Nemesis is a POSSIBILITY now after he'd been deconfirmed in the past for not being included because "the content of his character was too mature for the rating of MVC3". PFFF :wacks off: Give me a break! Also, I don't mind Vergil at all and I actually am interested in Phoenix Wright oddly tbh (Phx v. Phx matches all day lmao) But in all seriousness folks, after me saying I'm not convinced of not buying this game and blah blah blah, the improvements I've seen thus far are a step in the RIGHT direction (not te best, but the right). Now, I may shorten my thought on this game in two opinions which I think many of you will agree upon--They are:
1) This is, as we can all assume, a "crafty way" of Capcom cashing in on B.S. they SHOULD HAVE included beforehand. True, but that was evident with the appearance of Dormammu, who until MVC3 was a very obscure character. Or even Shuma-Gorath before MVC2 he was in almost nothing.
Iron Fist, Nemesis, Vergil and Dr. Strange are pretty amazing additions. For all you people complaining about putting Venom or Bison in, did you actually play MvC 2 with them? They sucked horribly and were not fun to play as. Capcom has shown that they don't do radical changes to characters movesets or playstyles between versions of vs. series (look at Spiderman). If you really got them they would be similar to how they played in MvC2, in which they were ass.

Second off, Spiderman WAS revamped for MvC3 with the addition of his zipline. And let's not even talk about Wolverine...
If Capcom wanted Bison and Venom to not suck, they could easily do it. Hell, Bison would more than likely be closer to his SFIV smaller self as opposed to the stubby-arms SFA version (which is why he sucked in the VS series).
I think I'll be quite pleased with Iron Fist, Strider, Rocket Racoon, Vergil, Firebrand and Frank West.
Can't say I'm displeased with no Megaman though. There's about 3 average from other series.

Also, for everyone complaining about Megaman X not being in it, do you really want a crap clone of Zero in there? Zero only really works because he's got the sabre so he can fight at close quarters, X doesn't have any close-range weapons to speak of. He'd probably never get used anyway so what's the point of including him? (Then again you never see Spidey anywhere even though he's one of Marvel's most well-known characters).
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing how Rocket Raccoon plays. It'd be hilarious if he turned out to be completely broken. Also really liking the look of Firebrand from what I've seen in the trailers, he looks like he could end up high up in the tiers.
I hope they give Firebrand all of his Demon's Crest powers/transformations.

Hasn't even been 6 months yet and they announcing another retail version to MvC3 since they came up short with the last one. Pathetic... SO GLAD I traded mine in two weeks after. It was so blatantly barebone that many saw this coming a mile away. Ive sadly gotten more enjoyment watching vids of MvC3 on youtube and Cross Counter than I did playing the actual game....and that's saying A LOT.
I would have been willing to wait a few more months if they releasing UMvC3 this soon after. Especially since it seems to be what MvC3 should have been initially. Yet I'll be willing to wait longer to get it from someone on Craigslist or eBay after its released, since I REFUSE to pay for Capcom's F**k Up's! You srsly cant buy a Capcom fighter when it's hot or first released without feeling somewhat jipped. Sad....
And whether MK haters hate to admit it, Capcom needs to take some lessons from NR and how they handled MK9. The $75 bucks (the game & Season Pass) I shelved out for that has come a long way since it's release April. To top it off they still patching things along the way and releasing new content..FOR FREE!!!!!!... I repeat FREE....since you know, it's not the fans fault for if the game has bugs or problems that need fixing. ;)

For the characters we've seen footage of, Strider and Ghost Rider look amazing. Firebrand looks interesting, but I'm not hype for him nor for Hawkeye.

Capcom side: only saving grace is Vergil. Nemesis looks awesome, but the game already has 3 RE characters. I would have been way hyped to see Sigma in the game instead. It would have made a Megaman themed team possible, and he's a villain too. You can have a DMC team, you can have an RE team, but you can't have a MM team? Lame. I wouldn't have minded Megaman X either if he had his souped-up armor and weapons, but vanilla MMX is ass and I'd still prefer Sigma either way.
As for Frank West and Phoenix Wright, snore. They don't belong in a Marvel game.
Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nova & Rocket Raccon all seem like they could be promising. I'm not hyped for them, but they can turn out to be really good and/or interesting. It would have been nice to see Thanos in the game though. And what's up with neither side adding a female character? I wanted Ms. Marvel.
All in all, I'm not excited, the new HUD looks like crap, I don't know if I'll be buying UMvC3. It would depend on how good some of the older characters are, how some of the game mechanics are handled, and if the online is any good for me to spend 100+ dollars on one game in one a year.

You're right man, there havn't been so few ryu clones in a Capcom fighting game since the original SF2. I expect at least 8 pallet swaps of Ryu in this day and age.

Still don't know why this whole shoto-clone thing is still an issue. With the exception of some, the majority of the inputs are pretty much the same anyways (ie quarter circle forward, quarter circle back, forward down forward). Some have projectiles, anti-airs, and/or knockback or multiple hit vortex type moves much akin to hadoukens, shoryukens and tatsus. People say Cyclops is a "shoto clone" when you can pretty much say that about alot of other characters as well.
You all got Strider, and I got Frank West. Shut the hell up you guys, damn. Megaman is dead.

Capcom really let me down with this. First of all, adding spectator mode when it should of been in the game right from the start. These characters could of been DLC. The game is coming out in November. I would be playing BF3, Gears 3 & MW3 by then. MVC3 really let many people down. They aren't listening to the community at all. We all knew Strider, Wright, Vergil, Rider were going to be in it. They were in the poll of requested characters. Strange too. Batsu, Saki, Soki from TVC would of been great in mvc3. This Roster really makes me sick. Firebrand was not even requested at all yet he got in the game like seriously capcom? They really robbed us with an incomplete game that we waited 10 years for and this is what we get? Besides Vergil, Strange, Wright,Strider, Nemesis, Fwest and maybe the raccoon, this new lineup sucks in my opinion. I better hope raccoon is good when it comes out and the other characters. I just can't call this game ultimate. I just can't. Sorry about the rant, I rather play a supported game like MK9 with great DLC than this pile of crap.
I like Psylocke, but the only reason why I would want her back is for her Psyblade assist and it being godlike when teamed up with Magneto. The character outside of that wasn't worth playing.

@502 As you can see, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe suck because of the blood factor's issues and don't have online modes at all. So why not Mortal Kombat vs. Marvel Universe for any kind? Jax vs. Luke Cage is an awesome matchup because they have about the same skill. Shang Tsung vs. Doctor Doom is also an awesome matchup.
I'm totally stoked about Frank West and Phoenix Wright (especially since they and Ghost Rider have been "deconfirmed" in some way or another), so I for one am content. I don't know jack about Ironfist and Nova, so these are two characters I'll get the chance to learn more about. Nemesis is a surprise choice, and I can imagine Rocket Raccoon and Viewtiful Joe making a cute team.
I was kinda hoping Dr. Octopus would be in since there was a file on the disc or whatever, but there's always the chance for more DLC since they got this idea of another retail disc out of the way. I'd like to see me some Carnage too, but for now I'll be fine mingling with Chris, Deadpool, Frank, Dante, and Phoenix. Bros before ho's, etc.
Dr. Strange better not get reduced to being a predictable projectile character. He better have dormammu/blackheart like magic and not chucking out beams/fireballs all day. And iron fist better have a viable direct heal super(like elena in 3s maybe). And nemesis better be juggernauts replacement in playstyle cause i highly doubt hulk is ever gonna fill the void.

And EVEN if that were the case, there are plenty more characters in the Xmen-verse PERIOD, that would have been better then what we got. 4 outta the 6 new slots are Avengers...really do we need that many. Great roster reveal. Stop complaining.... Rocket Raccoon has made an impact in the Marvel Universe as well. He's part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The team is packed with heavy hitters from the Marvel Universe. Just get over it. Capcom can't please everyone.... but at least there's hope for nerfed Phoenix.

Batsu is the second most generic Rival Schools character next to Hideo. If you're going to put one in why not have it be someone like Hayato, Shoma, Hyo, Roberto, or Natsu?

The regular MvC3 doesn't have Survival Mode because the regular one don't have enough stages. Ultimate MvC3 will have 8 new stages to make it 16 stages in total so it will have Survival Mode and some DLC stages.

I can't remember exactly who was on the ballot or who I even voted for but I personally would've likes Blade, who is considered an obscure character to some extent if it wasn't for the movies. Psylocke because I liked her play style and mechanics (well designed) and the fact she was a bad ass female fighter. And Venom cuz...well he's Venom...nuff said. Although I wouldn't be against a retooled Venom (ala Jill) because although i like the character, his move set could use some adjustments/improving. and he's gotta at least have a classic brock Venom skin :-) I mean, we couldn't at least get a Spidey villain period??? He's got the best rogue gallery in comics along w/ Xmen and *cough*Batman*cough* :-)

Hmmm, yea not feeling Hawkeye (they could have put someone in there that has a more entertaining play style), the Raccoon and Nova (same as Hawkeye, has a cool look but generic powers/play style). They definitely could have used a retooled Psylocke but hey, I guess Marvel doesn't have a lot of confidence in their female characters for some reason.
I don't get why Capcom wants Mega Man dead so badly. Inafune was responsible for Dead Rising, too. Why not cut Frank West? The only difference there is that CAPCOM IS BUILT ON MEGA MAN.
Just want to add to all you Venom supporters, Eddie Brock hasn't worn the suit since the late 90's so it wouldn't make sense to put him in this game. Flash Thompson on the other hand is the current Venom, but he doesn't share the same look and isn't a villian.
They reason why they didn't put in characters like Mega Man Venom, Psylock etc... is so they can charge you another 40$ with them in it... come on guys think... It's just like crack they give you a taste and have you coming back for 40$ more.

If Capcom kept working on MvC3 with all the additional features that they are going to present in Ultimate the game probably wouldn't have been released this February. It might have slipped into this late this year/early next year.
That article has to ask what the budget for MvC3 was and whether or not it was feasible at the time of production to allot more funds to the project. That's a question that can't be answered by anyone but Capcom. So yea, that article doesn't have all the facts and makes a lot of assumptions.

I agree, the leak was a bit too easy. Some of the characters here were those they had difficulties adding into the game before. Like Frank, Phoenix, and Nemesis. Plus Dante already has a costume that makes him look like Vergil. I'm just saying...maybe there's trolling going on here or people are jumping to conclusions. Could just be artwork.

People complaining about how capcom milks people all the time. As capcom might have probably been the first people to have started the this trend, they are definitely not the only people doing this. The same people that complain about capcom re-selling the same game with different features will turn around and sap up all the different Call of Duty 2 releases from activision and The Different Halo releases from Microsoft and Bungie. Hell, even namco does it with their TALES OF games. It is too late to try and boycott this trend as it has been firmly placed into the business now, and you'll just be missing out on newer, most likely better content on the game. If you wanted to boycott this trend of re-releasing games then you should of done it when they kept releasing different types of SF 3 and SF 2. Either you just accept it and try to enjoy the new content or just stop playing video games all together, because honestly, it isn't just fighting games that are doing this, the entire video game business is doing it.

I think about 6 or 7 people actually know who Nova is and I've never even seen the raccoon. Most of the characters they revealed actually hurt my feelings but seeing Vergil is enough for me. He'd better turn into Nelo Angelo too!!

Well, isn't MVC3 a remake of MVC2? There are some changes but the core system is pretty much in tact. And half of the original Marvel cast are new to the series anyway. And I figured that with all the complaining from the fans they would've put some more characters we all wanted to see. The new Capcom characters are pretty cool even though I never cared much for Strider or Phoenix Wright but I have no complaints there. But the Marvel side with all of the other characters they could have chosen(even ones that have never been in the series) they chose one of the least favorite Avengers and some dude from Marvel's bootleg Green Lantern Corps.
Someone is getting fired over at Capcom for leaking this info, this would have been some really good suprise reveals. I would have loved to see peoples faces when Rocket Racoon came out for the first time with a vid. Just to see the internet blow up.
I feel bad for Seth, he was getting in trouble for so many leaks now they have to figure out how to hype the game up in some other way. Hopefully the Reveal trailers will be very good.

Who ever said MvC3 was a remake of MvC2? If it were just a remake, then it wouldn't have been called MvC3 but something like MvC2 Reloaded.
They keep repeating that they chose characters not necessarily on popularity but on potential gameplay mechanics. I for one like seeing all the new characters and the interesting new styles. I don't need guys with bland styles like Cyclops or a host of other MvC2 characters.
My only complaint about the revealed roster is that I was hoping for my Spidey villains, especially Dr. Octopus, Green Goblin, or Sandman. I also wanted Daredevil, but oh well. I am excited about Dr. Strange, Raccoon, Hawkeye and Nova.

I can't say whether I'm going to buy the game or not (I mean I've supposedly quit Marvel), but right now, with the buffed roster, news of new moves and some of the other gameplay changes... maybe I will jump back in after UMvC3 releases and I get a chance to play it a bit, if KOFXIII hasn't taken over my life by then.

It's like, im glad it's coming out real soon but at the same time I hate that it's coming out only 8 Months since the last game. I think the last fighter from capcom that broke that record was SF2 and SF2 Hyper Fighting. I think the game should be 29.99 not 39.99, my honest opinion.
Also Capcom better be for real about those DLC's. Im sure they got enough flack for that shadow mode event mode crap.
As sad and pathetic as this list is (excluding Vergil and Ghost Rider), it unfortunately has to be true. They would rather push these cheap characters trying to promote their other game failures than to make a great gaming experience in this game. Seriously, for example, why Hawkeye? Taskmaster already covers his moves anyway. And I've never even heard of most of the others. This is a real disappointment, especially since I was looking forward to finally having some worthwhile characters that are NEVER seen in these games, like Carnage, or if you're going for lesser-knowns, Anti-Venom. Even War Machine would have been a better choice than some anime lawyer! Come on Capcon, get real...
For the most part Marvel has been allowing since the original mvc3 ... characters they want to showcase and/or relevant to their current focus and history .
Nova went from lamo green lantern wannabe with a confidential fanbase , to some huge epic galactic hero pretty to close silver surfer level , in the past few years .
Rocket racoon and superskrull were extensively involved in the same huge space epics than Nova , hence their presence .
And yeah The racoon is easily featured in more and better stories than Venom or gambit , both kinda has-been since the 90s .
The Avengers are what's trendy at marvel right now , way more than the x-men currently , so yeah more avengers .
You want Venom ? Why not ... But careful what you wish for . Marvel might not push the original one , but the current one , looking most of the time like Spiderman in black fusioned with a Cod black ops operative .
Where is cyclops, cable, rogue, or capcomm? I had no realistic hopes for elena here (unlike SF4), but these were fan favorites. I bet the first two would even give strider a run for his money in popularity.
Also, BISON? stop putting akuma in games and put a non-shoto villain in... although I prefer to have both.
This thing I don't understand is, why is everyone complaining about venom, megaman, etc. not being in the game when no one even used them in mvc2? what's the difference in adding 'wanted' characters when most likely you'll drop them like flies if they're not as good as expected.
We all know how bad it was with magneto, storm, psylocke, sentinal, etc. And even in MvC3, there was maybe like a good 10 deep that people used steadily, rest were never touched in tournament play. I think you guys are asking for too much and not realizing what potential fun the new guys can bring. Just wait and see.
Wow, 635 comments! Anyways, looks nice. I'm happy they included Strider, Nemesis & Iron Fist. But what about that poll that took place on Capcom Unity a while ago? It was such a waste of time - where are Venom, MegaMan Gambit & Captain Commando!?! This shouldn't end to just 50 :(
I'm happy with the all additions but one thing I noticed is there aren't any extra female characters. I would have loved to see Cammy or Rouge or someone like that included but it's cool as it is I guess.
Also, I thought Capcom might have included a new character from an upcoming game like Asura or the dude from Dragon's Dogma...
I'm really liking 9 out of the 12 fighters leaked. I'm glad to see no new Street Fighters announced their are too many in MvC3 already that's why you go buy Arcade Edition or Street Fighter X Tekken. This ain't no Marvel vs. Street Fighter and the only character I even use is Akuma.

Oh well, back to MUGEN and Capcom vs SNK 2 EO for me to use them.
If I ever get to play this game, I'll probably just stick to my team of Ammy/Chun-Li/Hsien-Ko. I have no idea who Rocket Raccoon is, but I think I'll give him a try. Who knows, maybe I'll have him as a main, depending on his size and speed.

You make great games Capcom, but some really shady decisions as of late.
The game comes out in 4 months. There is no telling if Megaman will be in it or not just because of leaked images that may not be all that accurate. I'm excited for whatever changes are being made and the addition to ANY new characters considering I've played the ones we have to death. Some of you should be more appreciative for what you get and stop putting everything down before you've even had a hands on. UMVC3 is going to be better than MVC3 and I'm cool with just that fact.

She-Hulk isn't really a judge, it's only in the MvC3 ending that she does that. She's usually a lawyer, same as Ryuichi/Phoenix.

i'm happy vergil is in... i on't really care that mageman isn't to be honest, though is is kinda... "odd" for him not to be, considering his iconic status. that's essentially like capcom not having ryu, or marvel not having wolverine.
though marvel has already committed some high sins with psyocke not being there, in my opinion. it's also kinda odd that they don't have cyclops (even though he's in the same boat as megaman with me, personally - i.e. - i don't really care that he's not there). wasn't it actually cyclops who was featured fighting ryu in the past?
all in all... i'm fine with the people they added... i just strongly feel that others should have still been included. psylocke being one of those people.
@654 I believe you mean "robust", lol. And apparently for Capcom, a robust storyline is a comic book introducing the game that only people who paid 70 bucks for the collector's edition will get, followed by a 2-panel wrap up shot. Good stuff.
Personally, I'm happy with Capcom's side except for FireBrand, though I would've rather seen Gene and Megaman in. I would've given up Nemesis and even Vergil if necessary. Im happy for Phoenix though (even if he never fights. I like the character.) and ecstatic for Frank.
Marvel's side gave me the same reaction is always has, which is eh. They hit the high points, added a couple nice choices (Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Doc Strange even Iron Fist) but then baffle me with others (Rocket Raccoon, Nova). Nothing against the characters or their fans, just disappointing when choices like Daredevil, Blade, Carnage, Green Goblin, Venom (or Anti-Venom), or, in a perfect world, Punisher.

Rocket Raccoon is the worst choice for a character ever. I don't care if Marvel is trying to promote their lesser known characters. How could they forget about Daredevil or the Punisher? How does Strider, who hasn't had his own game in like a million years get in, but not a Marvel classic like Venom or Daredevil? Capcom just baffles me, they really do.
