Tips from zferolie, Jookey, Ian K, and Rafael2487.
@ 1st I was against the idea, just wanted more DLC characters but being that they are putting 12 in the game. that's $5 a character, so $60 for all 12. Tag on new spectator mode, and balance changes.. I guess saving me $20 is good enough, I'll take it.. Never thought they'd add 12 characters.
spectator mode! finally. hmm, no mention of replay mode

1st DLC costume pack for U MvC3.
Gamestop is advertising a different costume pack when you reserve with them.
sweet, another game where we STILL have to buy DLC thats old content.
i bought AE disc release, tbh there are no excuses for me not having costumes. at least the patch to see all of them even?
now, we have to buy marvel AGAIN, and we STILL DON'T GET OUR F@$( CHARACTERS!? i mean, they had alot of the work finished for them before the disc came out, then they overcharged for them, now they make a sequel AND STILL ACT LIKE YOU NEED TO BUY SHUMA/JILL!? really now? i mean, DLC is fine and all for adding content, but this is ridiculous.
They really should have had spectator mode in the original. Seriously... How do you mess that up? You get it right with HDR, SF4, MvC2, but not MvC3?
Sentinel dlc costume = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5v2Rd...
@11
WHAT ARE YOU BABBLING ABOUT!? They've made 12 charactes and and if was $5 a head like Jill and Shuma that's $60. Not to mention I'm sure they'll make Jill and Shuma Available. Lets just make a stink. But this inane babbling about costumes is old, childish and moot..
@12 they explained why they couldn't have included it. You're just being a jerk if you aren't willing to accept the reasonable answer they gave considering the F ton of lag the game had. Not saying blindly believe them but they said, it would have made the lag worse. A reasonable explaination for the exclusion of Spectator mode. How they fixed it, I don't' know but that's why THEY make the game and scrubs like you and I just sit back and enjoy it.
@16 Look at the Hyper Bar when Ryu is doing his Shinkuu Hadouken. There's a timer like Wolverine's Berserker Charge and Ryu's eye's are glowing blue. Must be a power up of some type.
As much as I am excited for Strider to be here; but am I the only one who kinda doesn't like the new interface?
@21 I think you're on to something. I think it might be Ryu using the Satsui No Hado like in the SFxT trailer when Kazuya is stomping Ryu's head in the ground.
@25
The super bars definitely need re-doing with more contrasting colors and perhaps the lifebars need to be angled a bit, but hey, at least it's different right? Not like SF4 where every version looks the same as the last minus very few details like font changes and the ultra bar colors.
@24 trust me they will find something new to complain about, Strider for E.G From the look of the videos lol, or actually if X-factor is nerfed how much they want it back.
But the point is..Why do we need new characters so soon? There are 35(?) PLUS characters, all that can be matched up together in a 3vs3 format with different DHC's, Combo's, Assist setups, Synergy, there is still a shiiittttload to be discovered per team (35x3x3x3 w/e the math is/depending on which order they are in lol)
Im almost certain most have only played 1/5th of the chars so far and actually set up a team with them and tried really using them. Oh, and also, howmany have bought Jill and shuma?? Yea, not a lot. What Im saying is, we might get 12 chars, but most will only play 2-4 out of those 12.
Like in ssf4 id understand, since after a few months most of the things have been discovered, and there is no assist/DHC/Teamwork/Synergy aspect to that game. Eh, but I guess its fine, most wanted chars anyways so why NOT do it.
Im just waiting for Ult. Super. Marvelous MVC3: Turbo edition that will come out early 2012.
Wow I wrote way to much and im not even saying anything new lmao. Maybe im reaching to much, it just sucks knowing the game will be re-balanced soon while there is still so much to discover in the original version.
And what I also meant @24: MVC3 as it is now, is a half-assed game as many mentioned, they should have had all these things in the original version.
THE FIGHTING GAME GODS HAS ANSWERED. SPECTATOR MODE FOR MVC3, RELEASE DATE FOR 3RD STRIKE. SWEET GOODNESS.
Luckily I sold my MVC3 off before this was announced, dude must feel he made a bad choice.
But still, I feel kind of cheated? UMvC3 was what MvC3 was meant to be, they act as if its an enhancement. New character is good and all but i think announcing UMvC3 only 5months after MvC3 wis waaaaay too early. I feel kind of cheated in a sense. MvC3's netplay system was frustrating and broken as hell, no spect mode, getting kicked all the way to mainmenu when an error occurs which it does often. Felt like MvC3 should have been released
But still, hooray for fighting games! I hope future ones won't be like this.
I'll 2nd guess any future fighting games from capcom.
Frank West, too:

@21
Yeah, he's def got a power-up Evil Ryu (I'm guessing) mode. If you look at the end of the video, he does his Tatsu super in that mode and it's a giant tornado with lightning strikes!
Other subtle observations:
1. Magneto has an Attract special that draws opponent closer
2. Storm has a Wind special that also draws opponent closer
3. Joe has a new dodge special? (Would be a cool nod to the original games)
and Iron Fist:

There's your 12.
I have emailed myself the pics, just in case. I don't think Catalyst will risk posting these and incurring the wrath of Capcom. Svensson said recently that leaks really hurt Capcom. This release is so cynical though, coming 8 months after the plainly half-finished MvC3, that I have no sympathy for them. 3rd Strike looks great though!
did anyone else notice ryu's HC fire ball was like reflecting off task master ..........lol ....... an hitting the other side of the screen .... that looks sick lol
I had fun playing with this title's Initials!
We have UMvC3.
We leave the first two letters as is. UM
We vertically flip the V and strike a horizontal Line in the middle. We are left with an "A".
We then horizontally flip the C and close it with a straight line. We are left with a "D".
What does it all spell? UMAD3! Yay! Are you educated yet?
Really glad but those life bars are pretty ugly ! o_O
so no dlc version like ae great anyone wanna buy a c.e. of mvc3?
Ghost Rider using his Motorcycle Hyper and then going against She-Hulk's Sunday Driver LVL 3 when she whiffs the grab animation.
I must see that.
@darthvenom
Eddie Brock has not been Venom for a loooong time. Eddie Brock is currently anti-venom due to Mr. Negative's powers, and the cancer he got.
And the current Venom is Flash Thompson, and before that, we had Scorpion as Venom.
Capcom, I wanna thank you for adding Spectator Mode, now I want you to add more modes. Here's my list of modes that it will have:
Story Mode
Survival Mode
Time Attack Mode
Score Attack Mode
Funny, the life bars have an awesome look. It reminds me of Mortal Kombat 9. I'm going to know what does the Mode Select, the Character Select screen and others will look like in UMvC3.
But the announcer's voice sounds terrible and needs to have a regular MvC3 voice back.
@manboy
What are you on about¿ Marvel has an "Ultimate" series. The name is meant to reflect that, seeing as it's even in a similar/the same font.
Ultimate Silver Surfer as mini-bosses before Galactus would be awesome. Pity we never even got the regular Surfer.
November 2011, wow they're not even waiting a year to release the next version! I hope that releasing new games all the time doesn't make people lose interest in the genre like it did with the rhythm genre, when all the guitar hero/rock band games came out every few months.
You mean.... fix and add 12 additional characters, modes, moves, stages..... and for 20 off the normal retail value? Ever heard of something called SSF4? considered the best iteration as well as extremely balanced?
@ ShinBuckeye #21, Von_Kunlun_BOOF #26, EComni #42
Nah its Ryu using the “Power Of Nothingness.” If you watch Akuma/Gouken/Gen’s ending in SFIV, Gouken glows Blue when he uses the Power Of Nothingness to fight Akuma. Also if you watch “SFIV: Ties That Bind” movie, Ryu uses the Power Of Nothingness against Seth after Refusing to give into the Satsui No Hado.
And in the SF x TKN trailer he starts to use the Power Of Nothingness (as his eyes glow blue) but then they turn Red like Evil Ryu. But in the first MVC3 trailer where Ryu Vs Wolverine, his eyes go Blue and he SRK's Wolverine, so it can't be Evil...I think...
It's too soon for a full disc update. I'd honestly prefer DLC at 5 bucks a pop. I wouldn't buy all those characters right away anyway. I also wouldn't feel like a sucker for essentially buying the same game only months apart. They're also adding features that were EXPECTED. A standard Capcom itself is responsible for setting.
I've bought every iteration of SF4 up until AE and it always seemed just. I never felt screwed. I've even bought every single costume pack; partly as a gesture of support. This includes MVC3, the costume pack and the DLC characters. This doesn't feel right though. This is honestly the first time since the snes SF2 updates that I feel fleeced by Capcom.
Also yes, 'don't buy it then', I know. But I'm not complaining, I think I raise a valid point.
@17 You are being pretty naive if you believe lag was the reason for spectator mode being left out. The additional data being sent is negligible. SSF4 and SF4 netcode are the same.
It is a simple matter of resources. There is only so much you can do with your budget and you have to prioritize. Spectator mode requires you setting up the engine to playback inputs and then there is the functionality to save. All relatively easy to do but time and resource consuming.
So if you are budget constrained and have a release target you cut off the non-essentials. All they did was took the lead of SF4 where the game sold well even without spectator mode and gives them a desired feature to market with the remake.
They release MvC3 after being quiet about no spec mode. It sells like hotcakes. They queue up UMvC3 with spec mode and more characters and it will still sell well while costing significantly less to make since all the heavy lifting with engine, netcode, assets has already been done with MvC3.
Its a smart business model. A bit shady but if the public is willing to buy it means they are okay with it.
I can't wait to play as Nic Cage. The trailer spells Haggar wrong.
