SFIII: Hugo (YSB) on Hugo (Tanaka) action

Posted by Who Is Alpha • July 18, 2011 at 6:15 p.m. PDT
A match was recently uploaded on TheShend's YouTube channel featuring YSB and Tanaka who are two top notch Hugo players. This mirror match is fairly rare to see in Street Fighter III due to Hugo's bad match-ups. With 3sOE on the horizon this is a good way for anyone who want's to main this not-so-gentle giant to get a view of what high level play looks like.

That was pretty one-sided.

@1: The japanese have pretty much exhausted the crap out of 3s. There really isnt much to learn anymore, imo. I mean, they will parry anything, if you follow the scene.

Maybe they are taking some down time and trying other games who knows.

Quitting? Naw there just on the down low until SBO quals, then they come out of the woodwork (except J. I think he's retired. And maybe Hayao too).

Also, *Clap*Clap*Clap* HAMMER MOUNTAIN.

Damn scary to get caught in the 3x clap/palm bomber. TWICE!

i know MOV (sadly/rare to see) moved on to SF4. i wish Kuroda would do the same. i heard when SF4 first came out he tried it and he picked Gief as his character, but lost like, really bad lol. so maybe thats why he doesnt like it.

All of them except J and Hayao are still playing. Don't worry.

@8
Kuroda flat out hates SF4f from what I heard.

Seriously? "Hugo on Hugo action?" If that isn't homosexual innuendo, I don't know what is.

I love that at the end they were like "WHAT THE!" when both Hugo's grabbed and YSB's came out on top

If they tweaked the IV system to add parries i bet these players may even consider to play it seriously.

I mean comparing IV to third strike makes IV seem too restricting...

@"a view at what high level play is like."
-....... deep j. d+fierce and parry the dolphin dive, got it. Awesome play ^^

@Novacane

Yeah let's add parrying to IV :/ then we'll have a useless focus attack system on our hands and the heavy reliance on move properties (the entire POINT of IV gameplay imo) would be completely shattered. And I mean.. is anyone really wanting Gief having the option of parrying into u1 say... after an EX glove mixup? D: I also feel the juggle system of IV is not what a parry system would favor.
