I would so play Cody if his bingo command wasn't so wonky and had better recovery. He almost feels like a slower version of Makoto to me now :(
Wow this is a pretty great Cody, that fierce counter hit into another fierce is really wild. Props to this guy!
meh, i'm not really impressed, this guy's pretty good but furansujin is miles ahead. didn't go for max damage after all those fw mp, same with the jab combos and that ch setup is as old as super sf4. If anyone should be brought to evo it should be the top cody player.
Wow Sasaki has really grasped the basics of Cody. Still I think you should always have Ultra 1, cause sure if you land a Hard Ruffian Kick you can FADC into a Crack Kick which juggles into any Criminal Upper. It deals nice damage but it would be easier to just FADC into Ultra after the Ruffian Kick.
OMG Sasaki beat Tokido, Mago, AND Poongko? So that makes him 3-0 against what many would call the Gods of SF. And we all know if he ever faces Daigo on Youtube he'd win that too guaranteed (assuming its XBL replay).
But kidding aside, impressive play.
While Tokido and Poongko both had a very strong offensive game - great pressure, lots of mix-ups etc - I thought that Sasaki was rather (ironically) boring. No real mix-up game, same poke-into-criminal-upper combo over and over.... He's good but man, I was falling asleep.
a bit of topic, but Mago is Considered the Best SF4 Fei Long Player in the world. Would love to see what he could do with Fei Long if Capcom Released SFA3 online. I love fei long in 4, but my favorite is still his alpha 3 version.
Daigo Will have his hands full with these guys. That Sasaki is another beast.
@26
I was wondering the same thing. I should work that into my weak ass game to see if it get slightly less weak ass.
the fact that his showed 2 things:
-top players have prooblems with obscure caracters like cody and seth.
the guy is very good and taking the occasion against guys that knows cody but average ones.
dont make laugh:furansujin both guile and cody sucks, and momochi plays him like he was a gouki.bp are not that important, dath was top c viper, but not 5per cent good as uryo nor kyabetsu.
but this guy knows what hes doing, even though i looks repetitive,my advice rewatch him against poongkoo ,as no one has blocked twice poongkoo corner combo, which really showed his good defence ,and most of his combos wore counter hit.
Man I love these Japanese Cody players 'cos they all use a stick like me they don't use sissy pads like EVERY Cody player does in N.America and besides Cody is much harder on a stick anyways when it comes to charging Bingo or EX Zonk while still having to control him @ the same time unlike a pad Cody player who have PPP, KKK, Ultras, EX moves, grab/throw, and Focus attacks all set to one button and can easily charge Bingo or Zonk with the LT/RT or LB/RB and still have free thumbs to move him around and control him so for these Japanese players to be playing Cody as well as they do I just wanna say Y'ALL ARE EFFIN AWESOME!!!
@35, its cuz despite his strenghts, he has a lot of weaknesses.
And might I add that Cody is not an easy Char to use so if YOU don't know how hard it is to use him then STFU!!
I learned a lot from these videos. Cody used to be my main but I lost interest in him now I am picking him back up since I learned some new tricks thanks to the videos here.
@#37
Lol what the hell you going on about, nothing really stops a stick user from binding PPP or KKK unless they are using a custom stick with only 6 buttons or something. And how do pad players bind all them options on a 8 button pad while still having the normal 6 button layout included?
And Using stick you have more free fingers to use to hold buttons down while still having plenty of free fingers to do everything else. Nothing stops you from having your ring/pinky finger holding down fierce punch while still having your index and thumb for throw or focus attack. Stick users have one free hand to do whatever.
and dependent on layout, pad user would also have access to 5 fingers to use(4 on top and thumb on face buttons) Their is no advantage a pad user would have.
Also a fight pad with the 6 button face layout, chances are from what ive seen, people opt to use their index/middle/ring finger to drum across the face buttons instead on thumb to sorta emulate a way a stick is used(which tend to cut off the use of the right shoulder button due to hand placement)
Dont make it out as if their is some perceived extra skill involved in using a stick over a pad which needs to be praised. Besides if a pad user is using PPP to charge ex zonk he cant throw or focus due to all punch buttons being held down already, where as a stick user wouldnt have to deal with that having other free fingers in which one of them can hit the remaining punch button and a corresponding kick button to do whatever.
Wanted to add--Sasaki the 2011 Gamerbee?? Hype for a relatively unknown player playing a relatively unused character (at high levels anyways) tearing it up. Yeah there's other great Cody's such as Momochi's and somebody mentioned Furansujin, but w/these vids the hype's behind Sasaki. And yeah, Gamerbee had Akuma before Adon, but wasn't a big name til his vids were released of him against Daigo and blew up big-time when he put JWong on blast at Evo.
@37 Exactly what makes using a pad seem like it's a sissy thing to do? It's all about preference. I'm proud to call myself a pad player. I don't hate arcade sticks or have ever played with one, for that matter but I'm not gonna talk trash about stick players just because they use something that I don't. It's all about what works better for you. You'd be surprised how many pros use pads. Keep your unecessary trolking to yourself.
Pretty good clips there.. You have to have some skill to be able to beat great players like mago and Poongko.
Although Cody in japanese sounds SOOOOO annoying, especially the "Ha Ha" :(
I don't like how he uses crouching light into cu so much because it's unsafe on block. Idk if he is confirming the cu from crouching light which I find pretty unlikely as you must buffer it in pretty quickly or if he is just buffering it regardless but against Akuma who can punish light cu on block with strong or fierce tatsu it seems quite dangerous as it leads to a knockdown and potential vortex opportunities. Other than that he has a great Cody.
Personally I’d put Kawagu111chi & Momochi’s Cody before Sabre, i8600011 & Ryan Hunter’s Cody. I don’t know where I’d put Dnm3rd as I haven’t watched enough replays/fights of his yet.
Watch “Kawagu111chi (Cody) Vs Gameinn (Daigo) (Ryu)” – Spoiler Kawagu111chi beats Daigo “The Beast” Umehara so you know he’s good if you haven’t heard of him before (this was in SSFIV not SSFIV: AE btw.)
Great Cody! He needs to fight the beast himself though to make his mark! First btw!
