Capcom's Christian Svensson updated fans on a few Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition details on the Unity Boards. Some of what's here hasn't been confirmed, but it does give us some stuff to start speculating on, especially the custom palette question.
How long after SF3 Online Edition's release will DLC be announced? — Crazy-Legs
Svensson: I'm not sure of the planned communications schedule on that point (I'd have to check with the product manager and the strategy team). If I were to guess, we'll announce something a couple weeks post-launch.
One Street Fighter 3 Online Edition's code is approved, when will it go live on XBL/PSN? — Kyle
Svensson: On average it's 4-6 weeks from code approval to prop. Depends on a number of factors.
Is 3S gonna finally support a custom color palette mode similar to CvS2 or better yet use PalMod? — Joseph
Svensson: I'm not prepared to talk about color swaps until much later.
You should buy out Arika's Street Fighter EX characters so you can use them in other games. — Christopher
Svensson: I'm not in favor of paying for character IP when we have so many unutilized and more recognizable characters already in the stable.
Do you have a idea department where you gather stuff for future games, is that just Research and Development? — Gareth
Svensson: Game concepts and tweaks come from all over the company, not just R&D (though that is a primary source). Marketing and executives also have a lot of input on what gets made, how it gets made, with what features, etc.
Does training mode for SF3 Online Edition have a "random block" option for the dummy character? — AquaTeamV3
Svensson: I believe it does, but I need to check next week to be sure.
Is 3SOE gonna be in disc form or is it just gonna be a Digital Download title? — Joseph
Svensson: Digital-only for the foreseeable future.
When you lose on WiFi match playing Street Fighter 4 Volt, just simply suspend the game and you're disconnected, with NO deduction on your fighter points. — Corex
Svensson: I'll speak to the team though I'm not sure there's a fix for that exactly without building a new arbitration system.
Custom colour DLC confirmed? Seems to be in line with Capcom charging for superfluous costumes in their other fighters.
color swap wud be a cool feature.
also, the idea about ex characters is cool. i like a lot of ex characters even more than most of the characters that sven refers to as "unutilized".
What else could it be, besides a handful of costumes that will, more than likely, completely clash with the visual aesthetic?
A colour editor would be AWESOME! I really hope its in.
Sorry Svensson, More reconizable? No1 is more reconizable than Skullomania... And but shed loads of people would like to see a few of the SF EX cast in a "good" SF game, I would deffo pay for SSFIV AE DLC that included Skullomania or Pullum.
"Svensson: I'm not in favor of paying for character IP when we have so many unutilized and more recognizable characters already in the stable."
Even though I like some of the EX characters, (C. Jack & Pullum Purna) I totally agree with this statement by Sven.
There are so many underutilized Street Fighter characters that deserve more time to shine. Characters like Charlie, Eagle, Alex, Elena, Urien, Joe, Poison, Geki, Karin, etc.
Plus Capcom characters that currently don't even have a series to call their own, like Ruby Heart, Amingo, D.D. & Rook. I think D.D. and Rook would be great additions to Street Fighter. (And I think Ruby Heart and Amingo would be perfect for Darkstalkers.)
