Capcom has responded to some of the issues brought up with the PC release of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, and offered a timeline as to when they'll be fixed.
1. Some keyboards and gaming devices are not recognized by the game.
Due to an effort to support two keyboards on a single PC, an error was made in filtering out “non-keyboard” devices. As a result, some high-end gaming keyboards, wireless keyboards, and control pads that have more functions than a standard keyboard are not recognized. We are working on a quick patch to fix this issue on or before Monday, July 11.
In the meantime, if you have an unrecognized device, the best option is to use a Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for Windows or a standard PC keyboard.
2. Re-mapping keys can crash the game.
This issue is related to the unrecognized keyboard or control pad problem – Remapping keys can trigger the error. In general, if there is a problem with the game recognizing a controller or keyboard, it can cause the game to crash during boot. This will be fixed by the same quick patch on or before Monday, July 11.
3. Smooth mode drops important video frames.
Smooth mode was introduced to help improve online gaming between minimum-spec PCs and high-performance PCs. There are some issues that arise out of the use of Smooth mode that can affect timing of fighting moves on a PC that must drop frames in order to maintain a good framerate. If you experience this problem, please switch to Fixed mode.
Please note, even in the existing build any online games hosted using Fixed mode will force all opponents to use Fixed mode.
We will be introducing a Title Update that switches the default game mode to Fixed, and changes Smooth mode to an option. We will also fix bugs identified in Smooth mode. This Title Update is planned for release on or before July 25. The Title Update will include fixes to keyboard and control pads as well.
In update related news, for non-Steam customers who still have the 15 character limitation for offline play, we expect to have that title update applied by 7/16 or earlier. The Steam version of the game doesn’t have that limitation currently.
Tip from Phoenix Reborn.
I really am appreciating the support they are giving for PC consumers.
On launch day Steam servers were so overworked it took me 8hrs to download even with hopping around to 3 different cloud servers. Constantly changing when the connection got too congested.
Now once we have it there are some pretty quirky problems with the game although nothing major. In any event Capcom is responding very quickly to resolve these problems.
On the whole I'm very optimistic with what I see. PC Gamers want to BUY fighters at a rate they obviously didn't anticipate, and Capcom is scrambling to keep this market happy. Really hoping to hear some good news for SFxT in the future.
Hmm... never had problems with game devices...
i used ps3 arcade stick(Used libusb for that)
usb joystick, usb arcade stick and a xbox360 pad...
no problems,,
Well iam happy there patching things up,
for weaker pc-s like mine smooth is a life savier, combined with tripple buffeting i'm getting 54 fps with everything high except the shadows and that is on P4!!! whereas on fixed it wont let me go over 30fps, variable i won't mention becouse it's the stupidest option ever
I actually had an issue where the Steam Overlay was crashing my entire computer when I loaded the game, so I disabled it and everything worked great. It was just strange and frustrating because my computer is high end, but its silky smooth now. You can even see other peoples Computer Grade in the lobby, and Ive only run into A's so far.
Oh, and for anybody who might be wondering where Windowed Mode went, just press Alt+Enter and you're set.
I really hope Steam puts the DLC up soon!
I had problems with getting my directional inputs to work with my TE stick (PS3/ChImp), but I just followed the directions of some guy on the forum. I exited out of the game, unplugged the stick, plugged it back in while holding the Select button down, then went back into the game and set the controls. Works perfectly now!
Also, I'm LOVING the PC version. I'm pretty sure my PS3 version is never going to get touched anymore. Everything loads lightning quick, the graphics are better, and the online play is much more fluid. Almost feels like online.
THANKS CAPCOM!
@10/11
The problem is that smooth hurts the experience for everyone as it doesn't play as a constant framerate without drops. If you can play with smooth on high settings, lower your settings so you can play perfectly on fixed. No one wants to play online matches like that.
@8 that's not an issue with Capcom. It's an issue with Sony and Madcatz. Basically Sony would need to make software drivers for the stick and allow it to have the same functionality as their controllers. As of now, the sticks only work on PCs with the VIA or Intel Chipset.
once again, how does it hurt someone else if my graphics card displays 54 fps on MY screen... That doesn't mean that someone with constant 60 frames will drop to match my frames... it's just how much fps your card is able to show out of the 60 that are drawn every second... I'm not talking about the glitches which is an internal fault...
Drop this file in the same directory as SUPERSTREETFIGHTERIV and you should be good to go.
@21 The game engine plays at 60 fps and assumes 60 fps for proper play. As we can plainly see, smooth stutters around framedrops, creating gameplay imperfections for both players if one is playing in smooth mode. Pick settings your computer can handle if you're going to subject other people to your computer's performance.
This is for ALL sticks that has no joystick input.

Download the x360ce, the one with the application.
Extract somewhere you can find later.
When you run, there will be 2 prompts, click yes to both of them.
Configure your stick buttons to xbox360 inputs by clicking a button on the screen and then pressing the record.
Once everything is done, click save on the bottom right.
Copy the x360ce.ini and xinput1_3.dll into your SSF4 AE folder.
Start the game and VOILA!
@24
so if i set to smooth and enable tripple buffering my game runs at 54 fps and is quite pleasing to the eye and enjoyable to play, does that mean others will suffer online... i did the same thing on vanilla where it was set to fixed and it still ran at 54 fps and not 30 or 60 and not one person complained online... that tells me that only variable causes issues becouse it slows gameplay whereas fixed and smooth do not...
I'm glad they'll be patching it ASAP.
