The Yang unblockable only works on Akuma, Cody, and Ibuki.
The Oni unblockable only works on Akuma, Gen and Cody.
The Ibuki unblockable only works on Dictator, E. Honda and Sakura.
@H3r01990
Look at the direction he's holding when he tries to block the cross up attack. First he holds forward like he's supposed too, but it doesn't block it. Then he goes to hold backwards and it doesn't block it either. This makes it so you can't block the jump in attack by holding left or right which makes it an unblockable.
There are some setups that aren't "TRUE" unblockables since people can sometimes crouch the attack then block the correct direction, but unless you know you can do that then there's no answer too it.
Aw, man, the grammar on this site is (was) usually so perfect. I don't know if it has anything to do with that new Alpha dude being picked up, but "setup's" in the context above definitely doesn't have an apostrophe in it.
I'm guessing that apparently multiple people can edit the same news story, despite who originally posted it? It seems the small grammatical error was already fixed.
The original said "unblockable setup's" though in the first short paragraph, denoting setups as possessive. Setups being possessive made no sense from at least the context and description above.
@7
Well if anyone fixed anything for me I apologize for the error.
technically its not an unblockable just a move that cannot be blocked (well it can if you block the right way at the very last frame). anyways just thought id clear this up. a lot of people are mixing unblockables with this.
This is the most useless post ive ever seen eventhubs make.
@13
Gouken didnt stretch his fingers out lol
how would it work on akuma? if you're smart, you'll teleport out of there. For Cody, can't you just use reg. or EX zonk punch to trade or get out of it?
@ RandomJohn
That's the thing about unblockables, they're only unblockable, not inescapable. You move a tiny bit on wakeup when you choose to block in either direction. I don't know if this is because of SSF4's proximity blocking or what, but that's what they capitalize on, such that any direction you hold will make you move such that you block the wrong direction.
But they only work if you try to block the jump in. You can use a reversal to get out, like your teleport example. I'm not sure if unblockables take into account autocorrect, so I won't say you can use any old SRK to get out and have it not whiff completely, but if you can hit the opponent, you're covered. Unless these are also safe jumps, in which case you better have some EX bars.
Oh, and as you can see up there, watch out for OSs too. That neckbreaker from Ibuki will take PCs and Teleports in the wrong direction out of your options, leaving only HS/Devil's reverses really (wakeup U2 may work too).
All in all, it's just another thing to be mindful of, in addition to Ibuki's already sizeable bag of tricks.
@16
And he did it -or rather didn't do it- just to spite Akuma XD
these are not unblockable........... just very hard to block
@19 They're basically safe jumps too, so most reversals you can block or beat with an OS.
@25 Auto block does block them (I believe). I think the easiest way as a human to block them is to crouch then block cross up on the very last frame, like parry timing.
@ Sasuga,
No, you didn't, ironically.
My PSN/internet handle is antiheroFORhire, not antiheroVORhire.
P.S - Question marks don't require ellipses.
@ Arcade:
I don't know if it can be referred to as an ambiguous cross up or not, the ambiguous crossups I've come across are just crossups that are really hard to tell where someone will land. But unblockable works for these for all intents and purposes.
These are unblockable. UnBLOCKable. Not inescapable or unavoidable. They work such that no matter which direction you block on wakeup, the attack will hit in such a way that you will block wrongly, unless you blocked on the very last frame (not enough time for your character to move I believe).
Can someone tell me what I'm suppose to be looking at? I never really paid attention on the unblockable set-ups, so to me, I'm not seeing anything really...
