Also, here's a shot of the character select screen featuring all of the non-DLC characters that have been announced so far.

Blocked in Canada? Wtf? Is there another way to view this?
@Shonuff
actually it seems like the guys who played this don't know fighting games that well especially since they seemed to only use the triggers for hyper(which you only get 2 of the 3/4 most characters have) as well as seeing a DP as a daunting task.
neither reviews seems to have talked about having to unlock characters(Task and Akuma), which makes me wonder because review copies aren't always like retail copies but most of the time are.
Meh, in MvC3's case I don't blame reviewers for the relatively average scores, if you don't play fighting games, and you don't have time to learn all of the mechanics, you can't appreciate what makes the game so great.
Well that wasn't very useful. It's pretty obvious the people reviewing the game didn't know some of the basics of the game, which pretty much makes this review useless. When you use triggers to execute supers instead of the actual commands, and you're doing a review of a fighting game, something's wrong.
I took the liberty of compiling the marvelvscapcom3.com's Character Roster images into one giant 600x600 JPEG for anyone interested:
How long has 16+16 equaled 36? even counting the 2 DLC i thought that would come out to 34. Maybe I've been out of school too long. (Or maybe he's just an idiot.)
@1 Yeah, that's what he said. Maybe you were just pointing it out or just making sure that's what he said. I saw the question mark though so perhaps you're wondering why he says that. It's a clever shot at the Wolverine: Origins movie where for no reason they gave Deadpool Cyke's Optic Blast. Lol!
@kirby From the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, Deadpool fights Wolverine and basically smashes him with Optic Blasts for the majority of the fight.
The movie sucked though, so avoid it.
As an interesting sidenote the characters on the select screen are paired with their franchises (i.e. Resident Evil characters with RE characters, Darkstalkers with DS, ect.) It's obvious the top 2 openings are for Jill and Shuma. Note: Jill will be next to the RE cast and Shuma next to Dormammu. So if atleast 2 other DLC characters have been decided already there is a good chance they're a- Marvel character: X-Men character, Hulk/She-Hulk character, or not with any other Marvel franchise (i.e. Elektra, etc.) Capcom character: Darkstalker character, Ghost 'n Goblins character, or not with any other Capcom franchise (i.e. Stryder, etc.)
It seems like the next Capcom character is going to be either a Darkstalker or from another standalone franchise like the other characters on the row (Frank?). As for Marvel another it could be another X-Men or someone from the Hulk series. I highly doubt it's another mutant or villian though just because of the slot's location.
a 8 out of 10 fkin ppl dont know how to score shi* these dayz maybe not a ten but i give it a 9 out 10 its mvc3 and i like how they rush out the score its not even out yet
@30 I agree that games like CoD getting 10s and fighting games getting an 8 (at best) is ridiculous. However, considering the reviewer knows nothing-to very little about the genre, 8 is a respectable score.
@35 You didn't miss much. The only things he said negative about it were: to few of stages, weird camera angles (showed a vid displaying only Sentinel's legs during his before fight animation), having to go to pause screen for movelist during Mission Mode, and he said X-Factor seemed random (he just obviously didn't know how to use it).
Nothin wrong with a game being 8/10, although I completely disagree with the criteria the score was based on.
After over a decade, Capcom STILL wastes character select screen slots on bullsh*t like "Random One" and "Random All". It's like "regular" Wolverine and "bone" Wolverine in MVC2's character select screen. While I played Kobun/Servbot, that character slot was kind of a waste too, but not nearly as bad as this one. In the North American version of Marvel Super Heroes versus Street Fighter, Norimaro's character slot was just the game's title LOGO. What ever happened to stuff like moving the cursor OFF of the grid or holding an L or R button/trigger for random select...?! Sure, I might get an answer from some Capcom official, but I betcha he/she would be full of sh*t when they'd try to make excuses over the subject. I would strongly advise they undo those two slots and put two characters in there, if I had any say-so in the game's final developmental phases, other than that of an end user or consumer. I would rather they be BLANK than have those slots wasted on mere selection functions. Becore any and all supposed "leaked lists", I originally "knew" this game would have at least 42 characters, based on only one piece of reasoning: that you have 42 character slots to work with if EVERY block within that size "grid" were to be occupied by a character. Somehow, I also "knew" that some @$$hole at Capcom thought it would be a great idea to just waste one or two slots on mere select functions. Sorry, but this kind of sh*t REALLY pisses me off with some video games. It's like someone making a hotkey inside a hotbar on an mmorpg, to function as "auto-attack", like in WoW, when all you have to do is RIGHT CLICK an enemy.
Watch out... Capcom might not even give us Jill, Shuma, or even two more characters. They'll waste those slots on "emoticons" and "system power off" functions, etc. Wanna rage quit, huh...? No problem! Wait for. Character select screen to appear then select "system power off" to rage quit BEFORE entering a match. Oh, and that's like getting pissed off and SILENTLY storming out of the room, quietly closing the door behind you, taking a dozen steps down the hall, and checking all around you to see if the coast is clear, and then quickly giving someone the middle finger REALLY HARD, and whisper-screaming "FUUUUUUUHHHHHHHYOOOOOOOOUUUUUUU" with all of your timid might, as if your finger and curse would penetrate through a number of walls to your target, and make them fall over in their seat, jerking about in a violent seizure with a sudden pack of flaring 'roids.
#46, I am now relaxed. Thank you. Lol. Seriously, I really hate being cheated out of what could've been two more characters, with select functions taking up the slots. I'm only saying that I hope this doesn't make it into the final product. If it MUST stay, they should improve the way they look at the very least. It looks tacky, imo. Mainly, I vent for comic relief, so I really am calm and relaxed atm. If I were in charge of development at that level, I would never approve such a thing for my final product.
The bastard took it down! I knew I shouldn't have slept in. Damn!
I have a hunch there are 4 more characters yet to be revealed. :O
@44 No offense but you may be an idiot...
The random selection options are just there because people want them. They don't use character slots...
Do you remember what happened with Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition? They just zoomed out and suddenly there were so more slots. The same can happen here. If there's DLC characters then there sure as hell can be a new character select screen as part of the DLC. The character select screen doesn't mean that there will be only 40 characters EVER. It just means that there will be 40 characters until Capcom decides otherwise.
to 44 ...but one thing i don't understand though, why couldn't they just use only one random selecet icons, why would they need to use select ALL aswell, while they could just make it so, when you randomly choose your team of characters you just choosing one by one by clicking random icon? LOL

MvC3's intro is up.
(Really? They took down their review? They should've kept it up for Badness points and being the first to review the game.
Some of these comments are hilarious - 'X-Factor is random', 'Shoryuken is hard'....I seriously want a cached version of the review, lulz!)
The review got taken down. Is there any other place where I can see it?
I remember someone asking about the random selection a while back. I think it was a smart move overall but they could have put it on the team selection screen we heard about. Either way smart move.
Of course the review was taken down. Game publishers place an embargoes on reviews of their games. It's not supposed to be out for a little more than 2 weeks and if they ever want to be in the loop for any future Capcom releases they'd be wise to remove their review and wait till they are allowed to post it.
I just snipped the final part of the opening video, it'll be my wallpaper forever:
@44
Dude, a character takes months to make, a random slot probably takes minutes at most. With DLC characters, they can find a place to put em somewhere. RELAX! It's a game, not a life or death situation.
yeah birdie get out of the house you freaking troll...
ugh just a few weeks away....it just seems like last year it was taking forever for the game to come out, but its only now like two or so weeks! yay :D
44
Really? Lol! Chill bro its not that serious its a random select for crying out loud. It's been in 98% of fighting games and will continue to be fighting games.
Um... Hate to say it, but it's not available anymore
DYou fight like puny reviewer (LOL)
For who ever mentioned COD getting 10s did this reviewer give it a 10? Did all reviews get a 10? No. All reviews are different and even inside the company are reviewed by different people with different opinion like ign who will give a game a 9.5 but another person working for ign won't like or might even hate the game
i dont know how you guys read the stuff Birdie has to say. he writes persuasive freakin essays
I seriously laughed out loud when I woke up this morning to find the awful review got pulled!
deadpool said thats how you beat wolverine people and you dont even need optic blasts?
