I say Megaman is coming in as a heavy hitter DLC to keep interest after the release of the game. In my view, smart move. Frank West might be on his way, but I, for one, am hoping for Krauser from RE4.
I hope these characters are secret characters in the game if not oh well.
It makes a lot of sense now, concerning the last two empty slots that are on the bottom.

If these are going to be the last two whether they're DLC or secret (more likely DLC), these two have to be BIG reveals here. Ending with Sentinel and Hsien-Ko is not a grand finale to me, but they were good.

Jill and Shuma were kinda already officially announced. That would be pretty retarded to ask us to guess, if it was to announce characters that are already on the official website.
Ibuki would be ridiculously sick in a game like that!!! And Juggey deserves a spot, way cooler than Sentinel as a giant.

It's highly possible that DLC characters will be announced when Sven said that new characters will be announced next week. It would make sense for him to say that, because I be he already knew that we saw the Sentinel leak, so those were already revealed. He also had a little smirk on his face.

There are more characters because of two reasons.
1) Hsien Ko and Sentinel's artworks are right there.
2) The text above the more characters thing also says Hsien Ko and Sentinel.
You're trying to tell me Capcom updated two parts of this page, but left the third part where more characters are coming alone? It's possible, just not bloody likely.

This is baloney. That line has been there ever since they first started their Facebook and Twitter. Knowing Capcom, they probably just forgot to change it. If I were any of you, I wouldn't get too excited over this. Besides, any more characters will probably be announced as DLC, and that'll most likely happen AFTER Jill and Shuma-Gorath are released.

On THIS site, all the spaces will be filled once they add Sentinel and Hsien-ko. I would trust the layout of the Japanese site BEFORE the American site, since they obviously spent a lot more time and effort into it.

I know I'm being the typical "plz phoenix wright!" d-bag but Capcom has acknowledged that they are aware people want phoenix wright so I'm pretty damn sure he's gonna make it in. Howard the duck would make me smile if he was announced. The only person that I really wish wouldn't made the roster is Dr. Wily, but he goes into pretty much the same bin as Arthur, so I'm not crying over his loss. All and all I'm satisfied, couldn't have asked for more. :)

Yeah I'm so over the phoenix wright and ken spammers, every, single, time a character is announced they're acting like they aren't gonna buy the game because it isn't ken, honestly I'm over it. Capcom can't please everyone, they did their best.

Understandable, for a day maybe. Consider there are 4 SF characters and Resident Evil is a MAJOR capcom franchise, bigger than most you are thinking of right now. Also consider the enormous popularity of RE4 and how MvC3 has exactly ZERO characters representing the best RE game of them all (arguably, of course).The very game most casual gamers who don't really pay fighting games no mind will recognize and gravitate to a good RE4 character, bet on it. You could throw Bitorez Mendez in there and watch the fanboys go ApeSh!t. Ada Wong and those that know nothing of eventhubs or care to follow games that closely will pick this game up for that alone.

If there's any character from RE4 that deserves to be in, it would have to be the MAIN PROTAGONIST who basically reinvented the RE series. Leon would be amazing in MVC3, and would be a perfect choice to fill in that 4th RE character slot (In my opinion, at least). Chris is the powerhouse where Leon would be more agile and athletic. Along with his signature roundhouse kick and suplex, Leon could also have some wicked knife combos!
Krauser's cool in his own right, but we have Wesker (The original badass) for the RE villain. Plus, there's no way he'd be getting in before Leon. Trust me, if RE5 never came out, Leon would already be in MVC3.

Having said that, RE is already reprented by main characters/villains. Maybe I'm alone, but Krauser's move set, ability to mutate and keep his fighting skill in tact, and just overall batsh!t awesomness as a right-hand villain make me pull for Krauser more than anyone else in RE4.

But if Wesker can't mutate, why would Krauser? Wesker and Krauser both only mutated at the end of their lives in their respective games. I guess it was cooler when Krauser did it? I dunno. Still, I think Leon rightfully earned his place in MVC3 (Look at all the different ports and versions we have of RE4. Leon was also in RE Degeneration and is supposed to star in the next RE CG film), whether or not Capcom acknowledges this a completely different and rather unlikely story, unfortunately.
One could also argue my main character point by throwing out the Mega Man card (Having Zero and Tron Bonne, but no Mega Man). However, Leon's moveset would be cooler, more interesting, and more unique to Capcom than Classic Mega Man's (At least in my opinion).
I certainly wouldn't object if Krauser managed to make it in, but I really think the RE4 character slot (if there WAS one, of course) should go to Leon S. Kennedy.

Krauser could because it didn't alter his character image or profile to a drastic measure. There must also be room for creative license here; although a level 3 "mutation-bad ass moves" unmutate would technically make no sense as far as lexicon is concerned, it would still be amazing to have and bending would be more than acceptable.
But c'mon, I'm not going to complain about Leon if they add some crafty knife play.
It just doesn't make to much sense to me to NOT have an RE4 character in this thing. Am I the only one?

Chris, Jill, and Wesker are ALL in their RE5 renditions. So I think RE5 has enough representation. Even the Street Fighter characters represent their own series (Ryu-SF, Chun-li-SFII, Akuma-SSFIIT, C.Viper-SFIV).
RE4 should have a rep in this game, but I'm not getting my hopes up or anything, as cool as it would be.

Hell no, you're not the only one! Given the raving success that RE4 was and frankly still is (Even if you didn't like it, you can't deny its success), I have ALWAYS thought that it should have some representation in a game of this caliber. Seriously, RE5 wasn't even as successful as RE4 was.

It doesn't matter how much people know about "old school" Capcom. Just like Marvel, Capcom is pushing characters from current games. Did you hear anyone clamoring for Spencer to be playable? No, but Capcom wanted someone to represent the new Commando. Phoenix Wright is without a doubt a popular character and has more of a right than the majority of current Capcom characters to be playable.
I agree with @120. It'd be nice if MvC3 were to release as massive 40+ character game. HOWEVER, they're doing the DLC characters for two reasons.
1)So they can keep a constant hype with the community.

I'm guessing Frank is coming this summer along with a Spiderman character. It seems like if the franchise makes bank then a character rep is only natural. Both Dead Rising and Spiderman franchises are well known and with both having recent products out now or coming soon what better way to do it than adding them in.
People suggesting Cyclops need to be slapped. Here's his moveset:
- Shoot beams on the ground.
- Shoot beams in the air.

I hate how Capcom are considering the idea of adding that piece of trash Phoenix Wright. I've only heard of him through here, but his fans have grown to make me hate him.
From what I hear all he does is point and yell. The character sucks ass and if they do add him I hope he's straight garbage so at least anybody who uses him just gets destroyed in 30 seconds.
There have a plethora of fan favorites that will generate mad hype as DLC. Strider and Cyclops should seriously be somewhere at the top of the list. I'd say Mega-Man if I didn't think he was already being saved for DLC. Venom is another that should have priority over wack ass characters like Phoenix Wright.

Capcom's job is to get their obscure characters in a this fighting game, what Makes Phoenix Wright Popular is the fact that he's one of Only 2 Non-violent games you can find movesets for, Yes, there's nothing he can do, its Capcoms Job to give him a Moveset, one thats creative and fun.
Allot of People might say YOUR favorite Characters are "Garbage" so bother bashing about the roster.

Looking at the character select screen and themes i think jill with go on top left and round off the resident evil row but I dont think shuma is going to go to the the top right I think he is going to go to the bottom left it seems to be an all green row. Idk but thats how it looks to me
@168 No need for cable back,there's deadpool now,and cyclops has changed "A LOT" over the past 10 years,he's not the same anymore,and silver surfer couldn't be in due to ram issues plus not being able to find a way to incorperate his board into battle.Rival schools was already said that it wouldn't fit into this type of game.
I'd be good with these, if they were implemented in such a way I imagined them to be. But alas, I'm not Capcom so this is more wishful thinking than anything else.

Shuma Gorath and Jill are already on the main site, so there is nothing to reveal but a trailer of gameplay. If you look at the main site it has 1 opening space on both Marvel and Capcom character roster, there could be just 2 more reveals and that could be on monday.
@cvs ram issues were said about darkstalker characters and look who just go revealed the other day. It would make sense for surfer to be in since galactus is in it. I dont see how you can compare deadpool to cable I'm guessing cause of deadpools guns? Cause they seem like completely different characters IMO. Also I don't see why batsu or even hyo from rival schools can't fit in this game.
I truly wish you guys were right with the Bison leaks and such, but reality suggest that the last reveals we are going to get is the Boss Characters. Galactus, Silver Doctor Doom, and I heard the idea of a Virus Wesker.
I lost all trust with Capcom as they have proved themselves to twist up statements and such. If Bison does show up in the next reveal, I'll eat my words.
I'm hopin for X/Gene from Capcom and I don't really care who is from the Marvel side because 9 times out of 10 I will like them anyway

I don't remember Capcom stating that there were licensing issues with Strider, all they said was he didn't fit the game.
Anyway, Strider is a Capcom character and is probably still copyrighted to Moto Kikaku, and I'm sure they would be MORE than glad to get Strider some more spotlight, especially if it means more money for them.
The roster's set in stone. I'm just hoping to get my dude Strider down the line. I'm just patiently waiting now for the 15th.

@186 The only reason why PW is not in the game is because of how difficult it is to make him into a fighter which takes some time to conceive. I don't think they would pick him over Strider but PW is more relevent and Niitsuma said they felt Strider did'nt fit the concept. As much as that sucks thats the way the ball bounces.
Don't want PW in the game at all? Stop supporting Pheonix Wright games. Nuff said. Strider has'nt had his own game in years, perhaps if we can convince Capcom to make a brand new Strider in full 3D it might work, it did for Bionic Commando.
Phoenix Wright will probably make it as dlc due to his popularity. That being said, I really don't understand why the fans are pushing for him to be in a fighting game. He's a regular person (if you consider lawyers people) and how many different versions of "point and yell" can you have? I just don't see the relevance in this sort of game. The CAP nerds will snicker to themselves for a while while the Marvel/casual players will be like, "What is this $#!+?" At any rate I'm glad the PW fans are getting possibly getting some love especially since there appear to b a lot of you out there. And people say CAP doesn't listen to the fans...

@mndy- While that does sound like a good idea, Capcom has admitted that Frank West's zombie moves would be too much effort. I doubt they would go the extra mile. Besides, if there has to be a PW rep, wouldn't Franziska von Karma be a better choice? With her trademark whip, of course...
I have been thinking of this for a while, but did Seth Killian ever mention the character that he said "the designers were creative with or something to that effect" (sorry if he already said, and if so please tell me who that character is :D).. and if not, is it likely to be a character that's not announced yet?

I guess Phoenix would have more appeal than Franziska.
Personally, I don't care who is in the game, but the more characters there are, the more interesting it could turn out, and as long as the movesets are cool and creative I'll be happy.
I feel like Phoenix Wright wouldn't fit too well in a fighting game, but if they were to put him in they could make his moveset pretty crazy. I have faith in Capcom. I mean, they put in MODOK, a guy who is basically a floating head in a chair, and managed to make him look fun as hell.
I think Moonknight would be a great addition on the Marvel side. Think Gambit from MVC2, except cooler.
My guess is that the next two characters might be Venom and M.Bison because right now there's only 1 spiderman character (spiderman) and M.Bison appeared on a lot of rumor lists. It's probably bad speculation but still. I'm really hoping for Venom actually because he was in Mvc 1 and 2 so why not put him in 3 as well, and there's only ONE spiderman character and no villain.

Capcom said before the there weren't any more Darkstalkers character besides Felicia & Morrigan but yet we see Hsien-Ko announcement, the same with the clone characters Ryu & Akuma, it's possible they lied about 1 or 2 de-confirmations.

@205 Correction friend. He did'nt say there was'nt gonna be anymore darkstalkers. He simply stated that it is difficult to translate 2D darksatalker characters because they are constantly animated and changing into something. We can deduct that Demitri was replaced with Hsien Ko.

He said he couldn't add anymore darkstalkers. At the time he said that, his team probably already had Hsien-ko. It was a purposely misleading statement. It wasnt so much "I couldn't add any after Morrigan and Felicia" as it was "I couldn't add anymore than what we've already worked on".

As much as I would like to see Classic Megaman and Eddie Brock, or them even just saying that they'll have more DLC characters on the way, my guess is that Capcom is talking about Galactus and Cosmic Doom (AKA the Boss characters). I would make sence, we've seen Galactus' picture in the promotional comic and Comsic Doom in Akuma's trailer, so why not?

Megaman X is the #1 most requested character. He will be DLC , no matter how much you kids wanna deny it. Hes a cash cow & Capcom knows it. This is a business & they have to be absolutely sure that the decisions they make on characters they put in MvC3 aren't wasted ones.

Here's to hoping Frank West, Mega Man (any version, honestly), and Strider Hiryu make it into the game as DLC maybe. At the very least, it'd make sense for Frank to be DLC, considering how they mentioned that they'd already been in the process of including him in the game.
Whatever characters they're going to add for Marvel, I hope that it isn't any more X-Men characters. We already have 7 of them now.
As for the Capcom side, they definitely need more villains like M. Bison on there. Wesker is the only real villain on there! Plus a form of Megaman should definitely be in.
I can agree with M. Bison being in there. The Capcom side is SEVERELY lacking in megalomaniacs, unlike the Marvel side. Sure, there's Wesker, but Capcom has more villains than just him.
Personally, I would love to see M. Bison and Sigma from Mega Man X as Capcom villains. To at least have a three-man team of Capcom megalomaniacs.
