I'm glad Makoto is considered so highly now. I imagine she's at a perfect spot. Also, nice that Fei Long is considered the best. I'm surprised Yang is also so revered, but maybe further analysis will tell.

i doubt that Cammy is that good anymore and Makoto is a beast i mean she can stun in 2 good combos and her mix ups can lead to a super easy ultra setup via the grab but im glad Guile and Ryu Dropped off the face of the world! but this means were likely going to see more Yuns than any other character
Daigo drops ryu from AE, and ryu drops off the tier list. Tokido stated that daigo dictated ryu's place on the tier list, so this list makes alot of sense. Also seems like charge characters had to be nerfed, in order to make this a more offensive/aggressive game.
Don't mind this stuff at all.
Makoto is free especially online. I doubt much will change.
i love the changes made hope we can get them soon on console and turn the tide of the Ruy army but i think Ken is looking alot better So there probably going to jump ship to him and Mago is like the only fei long at tournaments winning so i think that is kind of based on him not the character
Bison and Balrog Still are good and dominate i watched alot of AE videos and i didnt see much of a change except balrogs headbutt has more recovery on wiff which is good stop them random headbutts i mean it was the shoryuken for him

Well cammy can fish for counter hits now as J Wong showed makoto average health plus buffs help her out Viper and akuma didn't get the need real bad so they are still top surprised DJ isn't top since he is the only charge to receive mostly buffs
Bison must not be a common foe in Japan. I can understand Balrog, but not Bison? Really? Then again, all of the top 10 are EXTREMELY POTENT characters. I'm actually happy how this list turned out because every character between 1 and 10 are all extremely deadly. Bison would definitely be AT LEAST 11 this were true.
I think Balrog is just outside of that list. Probably at #12 or something. He's barely changed and still a very good character.

Considering DeeJay was almost dead last in that usage report from a couple weeks ago, I'm going to assume nobody knows where he is on the tier list because nobody picked him up in AE. It's sad, but there's a good reason why DeeJay and T.Hawk are largely considered wasted slots in SSF4; people don't like them and have never liked them.
Eh, tier lists for this game are always garbage. Incredibly controversial, even among the best of the best. All it ever does is give kids an excuse to cry about characters they cant deal with.

Except Fei Long actually, he is the only character I feel is just better then the others. I think most people can agree that Fei is numba one
this is a good top tier list. none of these characters are scrub friendly at all. so no more noobs complaining about other noobs being tier whores
I wish Gen were up there for once. If maybe he were given a unique mechanic which involved negating some portion of the super bar like Neji from Clash of Ninja, it would add more depth to his game. He deals with pressure points why not give him something that perfectly reflex his fighting style? He such an awesome character. Enjoy watching a good Gen player at work, but good to see Yang up there. I'll sub em for sure when DLC hits.
I don't understand why you guys big deal this tier list...Seriously! In vanilla, Sagat was by far the strongest character ON PAPER!!, Mago played him like a god, Ryan Hart played him well also, RF played him amazingly!. If these top 10 characters are strong, don't expect just because an average joe picks them up and starts playing them they're still considered strong, these characters are up on that tier list based accordingly to the person playing them, Fei Long is strong because of Mago, Gouki is strong because of Tokido, Yun is strong because of Daigo, NOT THE VICE VERSA! Cammy was supposedly "trash" in vanilla, but most of you never even saw the tapes of when Sako was already using her against his famous matches vs Desora. But i bet if you guys saw cammy being played by Sako back when vanilla first came out, cammy would've been top tier long damn time ago! AND SHE STILL STRONG whether you can TK Cannon strike close to the ground or not!...You dudes are fools for taking these tier list so damn serious forgetting that WE are the ones who makes characters strong, not Capcom...!
nice to see fei on top =D its also cool to see akuma there too. too bad guile isnt there. he's one of my all time faves along with fei and akuma. damn it capcom u didnt need to nerf him dat bad D:<

most REAL makoto players NEVER thought she was lowest tier cause i know i didnt, and ive read that vryu doesnt think shes lowest either (mid tier at worst). its just that her level of execution is high (less than viper and ibuki, but still relatively high).
most people probably picked her up and dropped her cause they lacked patience, footsies, couldnt hayate cancel, couldnt kara-karakarusa (her kara grabs are more difficult than many other characters), lacked judgement on when to hayate cancel bait, lacked matchup knowledge etc etc etc.
but in general this is based on a larger issue that people who are quick to make judgments when they have a deeper issue of lacking fundamentals of sf. If you cant play the game well in the first place, what merit do you have in judging a characters "rank"?
I think there were just not enough top players who have the expertise and fundamentals trying out some of these lesser played characters, making them seem weaker.
examples: people complained about cammy and fei in vanilla but suddenly japanese players, (not saying all of them but many of them) who have higher execution and dedication to characters they try, are exposed to them more and they are suddenly "top tier" in super. Granted they did get some changes between versions but everyone complained about both their U2s upon release saying "why are such weak characters getting such weak ultras" etc.
my opinion is that each of these games are too new (1 year lifespan of vanilla, about a year old for super now) for any of these tiers to be close to set in stone because of the fact that not enough GOOD people are exploring every single character out there. Tier lists, from my understanding, of only general guidelines up until they are several years old (such as marvel 2, ST) and each of the characters have been thoroughly explored through several years and variety of players

seriously, makoto is not low tier even in super period, i would consider her as solid mid-tier. first of all, all her normals are ridiculous fast and high priority. so if u fools got caught up in some combos fuking the end result is none other than dizzy.... plus she does have those EX grabs anoying to ultra shhit... i would only say her biggest weakness is her wake-up game... now momochi main her, go figure....

i have to say t hawk is wasted slot. But deejay isnt. in the right hands hes a beast. IMO he's like a way more interesting version of guile. so im glad to see he got some good buffs in AE
The list is ridiculous having joke characters like Fei, Makoto and Zangief in the top ten. Just because they haven't been using nor facing off the other characters doesn't mean that the only ones they use are the ones on top. I'm pretty sure Chun Li and Balrog are still up there considering they've almost been left untouched and their nerfs aren't exactly as game-changing as the nerfs other characters like Ryu got. Yun and Yang's dive kick pressure aren't even close to Rufus since their dive kicks have limits and can put them at disadvantage when blocked. It doesn't really matter. In a few weeks, MVC3 is coming out and this game will probably see its popularity reduced.
Tier lists are getting really annoying now! Fei will probably be the E.Honda type of top tier. He's top but hes not all over torneys

Ken indeed is THE scrub friendly character lol, but unlike some other scrub friendly characters, all his specials, super and ultra are really easy to punish with all the cast.
So it requires less match-up comprehension and skills to beat the common Ken scrub than the common Blanka scrub or Guile scrub for example.
i honestly cant wait to see what this list will look like a few months after it hits consoles(crosses fingers), then again if it does hit consoles it may have tweaks. either way i think this top 10 will change quite a bit after people figure get used to the changes/characters. id be hyped if Fei Long takes evo! lol
@12 I think the same applies for fei and mago as well. Also this list is probably way off (I'm assuming), and besides I'm sure Evil Ree-yu is top tier I'd bank on that. Oni I think top but not #2 after Evil Ryu Oni ofcourse controls the skies now. I think ER is #1 with his dmg output n his stamina n stun, n his ultra set UPS n his overall possibilities. I'd bet anything he's #1. So I'm ignoring this list these are the most characters atm so this list is nil.
I have come 2 the conclusion that any tier list thats (partially) made by mago has a steady degree of bull in it mostly revolving around Fei. Fei number 1 even after his nerves? GTFOH Fei has weaknesses like the inability 2 zone out and problems with focus armor moves. MAGO COMPLETELY IGNORES THAT! I dont know how he manages 2 get around Fei's weaknesses but that doesnt mean that they're not there! It like he's saying: After you reach pro lvl and know exactly how 2 avoid any vortex or guessing game and know how 2 zone out even without the right tools for it Fei is awesome.-_-'

Chun-Li, Guile, Balrog, Bison, and Vega are still powerful. They're excellent defense will keep them decent characters and they all have good tools for most match-ups. Just wait!
They only list the top 10...why not just list the whole thing?
