Update: Someone who works for Eurogamer Espana sent over this audio sample of Niitsuma answering the question about Sentinel and Juggernaut, and the translator is speaking in English, so you can judge for yourself what to make of this.Ryota Niitsuma: Indeed, we could not choose characters that were not on [Marvel's] list, and if there were some we wanted to use Marvel told us "do not pick that, take this one instead." In this sense, we wanted to bring back a couple of characters from MvC2, such as Juggernaut and Sentinel, but we could not.
Many people are currently split over who to believe on this since Lupinko has been so accurate to date, but Niitsuma is the title's producer.

i just don't see marvel approving a generic character like sent unless its a different model. sent does have a unique moveset but so do many other characters that didn't make this game. as many have stated its to attract old mvc2 players but they are getting this game with or without sent. let's see what happens.
I give you guys more credit then unity. Their eating this up over there, already speculating that Ultron is in the game now, and this magically means we have 42 characters. It's hilarious their all a bunch of idiots. I'm sorry but there's just no way Sentinel isn't in, Lupinko was right always has been deal with it.
As much as i'd like jugg/sentinel, I'd rather see a totally new character. There's enough familiar ones where i'm comfortable.
I don't really want Sentinel in this game, but It'd be selfish of me to expect only the characters I want and completely disregard everyone's character wishes. You can only put so many fighters and there are other factors, too. I'm not a big fan of Sentinel, but if he's in I won't really mind and call him a wasted slot, I understand decisions have to be made and you can't put everyone in.
If sentinel is not in the game, though, my mind will be blown.
Moving on to something else:
Everyone is assuming we'll get DLC every 2 weeks, but all I see is this saying they could POTENTIALLY release one every 2 weeks, and they HAVEN'T PLANNED how they'll distribute DLC yet.
Here's what I'm hoping will be DLC:
1. Alternate announcer voices. Just imagine playing the game with Stan Lee announcing, or Deadpool giving commentary (taking place of the female voice), etc. Hell, it's unlikely, but maybe they'll even ask Yipes if he can come in for his own recording, they know they'd make money off it. Obviously he'll have to tone down on the profanity though, which would be a downer because it adds to the enthusiasm in his voice.
2. Alternate costumes, but this is pretty much a given. If they can potentially give us DLC every two weeks, they sure as hell aren't talking about CHARACTERS, because those take long to develop, whereas costumes can easily be made by a team of skilled and experienced modelers.
3. More game options? Depends, we'll see what game options are included on disk.

On the one hand I wanna say I'm betting Capcom just switched one of the characters that was formerly planned to be DLC with Sentinel just to discredit Lupinko, but then if they were gonna do that you'd think they'd have done it a lot earlier...
Regardless though, I'll be happy if Sentinel isn't in; outside of MvC2 I really don't think he can be considered a iconic or even interesting character at all really and there are plenty of far better choices from the Marvel universe... I'd have liked to have seen Juggernaut though.
Don't forget he deconfirmed Jean Grey but with a little twist and play of words said nothing about Pheonix even though it IS Jean Grey. These guys think they are slick.

Bynoe, that's not likely at all. DLC characters are held back because they aren't completed yet. If they rushed to complete one then it'd just be bad overall for the game. He'd have the least balance testing, probably be the most buggy character in the game, etc.
And they wont waste their money just because someone got inside information. Not to mention this game was already completed long ago, it's not like there's much they can do at this point. Games need to be completed a few months before launch. It's too late at this point to remove anyone, and they sure as hell didn't have any DLC characters aside from maybe Shuma-Gorath completed by that point in time.

AHHH This is the best news I've heard all week! Whoo -celebrates- Man, I hated Sentinel. I never felt bad about spamming Spidey's air combo statis if someone was using Sentinel. I had no problem destroying any Sentinel I saw online.
Don't really care if Sent is in this game or not. His open spot belongs to a more deserving and frankly realistic character for this game. Considering how big Sentinel Units actually are "usually averaging about 3 stories tall" it would be just to wierd to see him in this game especially with the emphasis on Team Air combos.
I don't mind Sentinel's playstyle. He's actually one of the members of my MvC2 team (then again, when is he not?)
The reason I don't want him in MvC3 is because he's a red shirt. In fact, he's not a he. Sentinel is an it. It's a mass produced machine that serves no point other than to be henchmen and be destroyed. The sentinel in MvC2 was no different than any other sentinel and that's the problem. No personality, nothing special about it that makes it unique or better among the other sentinels.
I hope that it is not in mvc3 and that more important characters could take it's place.

Misquotes from journalists happen even when they're speaking the same language. I'm assuming here that Niitsuma doesn't speak Spanish, or at least isn't highly proficient with it, and was probably speaking through a translator.
Adding in the human error factor, I'm leaning more towards misquote or an incomplete quote than anything else.
Total speculation here, but Niitsuma could have been saying something like, "At first Marvel wasn't OK with Sentinel and wasn't on their list of acceptable characters."
Maybe Marvel was talked into it after the fact.

Sentinel is pretty much as dull and insipid as you can get with a character. After seeing the great job done with characters like Deadpool, Iron Man and Phoenix, it's clear that Marvel has so much more to offer than giant robots.
Hopefully the last reveal includes Hsien-Ko and someone from Marvel who's both interesting and fun to play.

Between the remark "Outside of Felicia & Morrigan, there are no other Darkstalkers in the game" and his latest remarks, it will be interesting to see who's telling the truth. I'd be initially inclined to say Niisuma, but I'll be damned if I didn't say Lupinko's list has been nothing but compelling. It's like watching a horoscope come to life almost. ^_^
In the end, what I believe are press releases. We do know this: the retail copies are printed and sitting in Capcom's offices and with this tournament coming up next weekend, we might even get a glimpse at the whole game finally.

Here's a theory:
The producers and Seth and such have said that they plan on using DLC to expand the roster due to fan demand. So it's possible that Sentinel was something that came along after the roster was finalized. Maybe what Lupinko stumbled across was actually a DLC pack with Hsien-Ko (although this wouldn't make much sense either, since Niitsuma has said that Darkstalkers tend to be memory-heavy and Hsien-Ko would likely be the worst of all) and Sentinel, leaving the final two spots on the roster to Mega Man (really, can you imagine Mega Man NOT being part of the on-disc roster?) and possibly Green Goblin, since there have been whispers about him here and there (although, in my humble opinion, Doc Ock would have been more fun to play). Again, just a theory, but I never really bought Hsien-Ko and Sentinel anyway; wouldn't that be pretty anti-climatic for the last two reveals?

Everyone is looking at Sentinal from a characters stand point and the fact that he was in MvC2 but story wise I just don't see him fitting in the story, it would look cheesy. Not putting Sentinal in would be the same reason they did'nt put Ruby Heart and Amingo in: No connection.
If Sentinal was the worst character in MvC2 everyone would'nt give a rats a$$ if he was in or not.

'Not expensive' doesn't lower my concern over DLC prices. $3.99 a character wouldn't be 'expensive' if the quality is consistant, except there could easily end up being 20+ DLC additions to a game like this. Suddenly you have the first fighting game to figure out a MMO pricing scheme.

That's another reason it would be a terrible idea to add Sentinel. In MvC2, Capcom admitted not caring about the balance and just made the game cause they were forced to due to popular demand. Sentinel was broken as hell and if you had a team that didn't include it, Storm, or Magneto, then you were at a severe disadvantage.
With MvC3, Capcom cares quite a bit more about balance this time and because of that Sentinel may or may not be as high tiered as he once was. I can't help but think of Makoto's original translation in to SSF4 after being a beast in 3S, only to be considered worse than Dan. The same could potentially happen to Sentinel and when that happens. I honestly will laugh. Hard.
Sentinal was a waisted slot, I don't really care about Hsien-ko, I think she'd be interesting. if they put in Frank and Megaman(EXE) would be better choices. Sentinal if in the game at all, should be DLC, just like the rest of the fan faves from MVC2, give some new characters tiem to shine.
IMO, Sentinal in MvC2 didn't even look like a sentinal from the comics either.
Personally i think storm and magneto were worse than sentinel. It's like comparing vanilla sagat to ryu and akuma.
Sagat could give and take alot of damage, but because of his slow speed and huge hitbox he could still have bad matchups. Storm just was perfect at pretty much everything and like ryu it was basically guaranteed that you were going to ltake huge damage when he got a certain amount of meter with some characters, no way around it. Akuma was like magneto in that one hit and you could lose right there because of how many mixups there were.

Actually sentinel story could easily be cheesed into the story seeing how hes a mutant hunter for the most part, and seeing how the story is revolving around the fate of the worlds, Sentinel can be reprogrammed to fit into assisting whoever. From the folks that work at SHIELD(could be a manned one from the likes of nick fury or something), magneto assembled, or a contender to fight for humanity from the anti mutant groups.
like i said could just be cheesed into the story without altering much.
But from a gameplay point, seeing how EVERYONE now has lengthy ground combos to air combos, i cant see his big ass combing like that... sheesh it was weird seeing hulk moving like that the first time and sentinel is like twice his size.
they finally have some sense in their skulls. instead put some ms. marvel up in there. as well as capt. commando, jin, kenji, and samanosuke or soki from onimusha.

If that is Capcom's bait and switch when it comes to Sentinel, I will laugh my ass off. That said, Omega Sentinel looks like an interesting pick. and I was never a fan of original Sentinel in the first place. MvC2 purists will be up in arms though, and if that is how the "Sentinel" rumor plays out, the amount of venom from the community will be comedy gold.

Four things. First, naysayers jumped on the bandwagon because they saw some of the rumors come true. Cornwad was blew his load on lupinko the moment the rumor list came out, which is a stupid thing to do regardless of accuracy later on. Second, most of us stayed level-headed about it. I specifically told Cornwad that while lupinko may end up being right, there was still another rumormonger with a history of being right about Capcom fighters saying lupinko wasn't 100% right. Third, why are you even bringing that up in a post that actually appears to counter lupinko? Could it be because (fourth point) you created a second account to make yourself feel better, Cornwad?
As for the actual post, if he's not in then great. If he is in, oh well. That's the fun of this, right? Not always knowing what's around the corner. We all want to find things out, but it's never as fun first experiencing a game when you know everything. The only negative effect this has on me is that it puts the rumor of Hsien-ko in a questionable position. Which sucks because she's the only DS character I like.

I think regarding the interview they might do what they did with Super Skrull when they coul'dnt get the Fantastic 4. They probably can't use Sentinal but they probably could use Sentinal Squad O.N.E. which is the ones people pilot. Now that would make sense, he would have new moves and everything. It would fit the concept better. You can give him a personality and everything without it looking to silly.

@ 69 off topic, but when I took Japanese, some of the best students were also Spanish speakers. The Japanese "r/l" roll is pretty second nature to them.
@117 & 177 - I've been thinking more along the lines of either Bastion/Nimrod as the successor to Sentinel, but Omega Sentinel makes a lot more sense here. When you see the current select screen, it seems like all the girls are on Capcom's side, so adding a female (villain, nonetheless) would be pretty cool.

Currently studying Japanese, and I have to tell you that a LOT of the Japanese syllables are really easy for Spanish speakers. Japanese has a lot of phonetic similarities with Spanish.
However, that's all that's really similar. The grammar alone is hugely different. I don't know Spanish myself, but I know exactly what you mean.

Taskmaster has been seen in the last 3 big marvel comics events , deadpool comics , and various of its own , including a mini serie getting released right now .
When was the last time we had Hsien ko ? Probably Super Puzzle Fighter or namco x capcom .

@164 Im not angry about that, I'm angry about the attitude these people possess, as if they are suddenly better than everyone else because they finally think the leak is real.
This is the conclusion: a group of guys that we will hate on for one and a half to two weeks will have a finalized copy and stream themselves playing and/or leak all of the info we don't know yet. Once this happens in about a week and a half every stupid argument online and Capcom will drop info about another upcoming title or add on to game about a couple of weeks after Marvel 3 comes out and the cycle will start all over again. Something to consider about the Marvel 3 roster: both sides were decided on by promotion for current and projects.

That is a pretty cheap combo with storm. She air combos, knock down opponent, opponent bounces off the ground, lay there for 2 secs then ice storm. If you can't roll out of that then that is a cheap combo.
Meh, were getting someone to appear for marvel with hsien-ko for capcom that's for sure, its either 2 ways we get sentinel or someone else.
Its the only options because there HAS to be a darkstalkers character which is hsien-ko otherwise the achievement of beating the game with 3 darkstalker characters wouldn't make sense thus someone must appear for marvels side because their always doing by 2s.
I like sentinel but I would like to have a new character aswell so either way it wont matter to me.
I think the more meter she gains the deadlier storm gets, when you honestly looks at her, her projectiles are sooo slow and most keepaway beat her, and her triangle jump got nerfed, which means people need to work to get her in to build super meter. Her Hail Storm is so godly though that as soon as she has meter shes a keepaway character, able to chip you to death the whole round, and combo it off of everything, id say in a team of phoenix storm and chunli id kill storm first
All I know is that Sentinel was annoying as heck. Very difficult to get in on him. Probably the best keep away character in MVC2. So I will be glad he isn't in. If this dis-confirmed rumor is not true, then I wouldn't mind Sentinel as long as he is toned down a bit.
I'm glad they are considering balancing to a point. I always hated seeing the same teams in high competitive play. Storm, Mag and sentinel and variants with Cap command etc.

The achievement requirement never mentions three Darkstalkers characters, it mentions three "characters who dwell in darkness". Hell, one of the characters useable for that is said to be Dormammu. And why does it NEED to be Hsien-Ko? Niitsuma said many of the Darkstalkers characters are RAM-eaters, and Hsien-Ko would in fact be one of the worst RAM-eaters.
Alright guys a couple things, if you go and watch some of the level 3 hypers that Capcom has shown us id like to think that these could not be preformed on sentinel without it looking silly, such as tron bonne's level 3, and Haggar's level 3. (go watch them on youtube if you havent) Now I do know that they could change them to fit with sentinel but I dont see it working without looking somewhat awkward. Also not entirely sure about Hsien-ko since she ive never played darkstalkers but from what ive heard isnt she a morpher? So if anything RAM issue's would be caused by that?

If this is true and not some terrible translation then this is te most exciting news since Haggar was leaked. That means that an unknown character will be announced for the Marvel side. Which means no matter who's announced, it will be a surprise. IF it's true.

Hsien-Ko has a crapload of weapons that come out of her sleeves, get thrown, materialize from the air, and her twin sister sometimes pops out to assist her, so yes, she would cause RAM issues, and Niitsuma is the world's biggest hypocrite if she's in.

That's funny. Isn't EventHubs the only reason lupinko got any attention? Whether or not he's correct about the roster isn't even he issue at the moment. The issue seems to be that this guy has a god complex that, no offense to EH, only manifested because EH gave him the time of day.
So basically here's what happens if he's right. Sent/Hsien-ko get confirmed. A few people cry, a few cheer, the rest of us shrug because it's just a video game, and everyone forgets about lupinko because there's nothing else important to leak.

Vergil is apparently being considered for DLC.
So, basically Niitsuma said that Marvel didn't want Capcom to use characters that they not aprove before. And he mentions Sentinel and Juggernaut. All sound a little suspicious to me.
Anyway, we'll know very soon if he is trolling us or not. The game comes out in 3 weeks.

Also Viewtiful Joe, Ghost N Goblins, Final Fight and Bionic Commando are Capcom franchises that only have one character each so not every Capcom franchise has three characters. Just the big name ones.
Why would they choose Sentinel when they have much better choices?....Nimrod is the most advanced "Sentinel" of them all. Bastion is a better choice than Nimrod, being a fusion of Nimrod and the Sentinel Master Mold.
