This would be pretty much a no-brainer for Capcom, as doing a cross over fighting game with Nintendo would likely be a gigantic success for them, but there's a short story up on Cubed3.com stating:
Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has confirmed interest in a Nintendo X Capcom fighter. At the Nintendo 3DS conference in Amsterdam yesterday, Cubed3 attended Ono-san's roundtable session and managed to ask the key question, "Considering you are trying to make Street Fighter IV 3DS accessible to a wider audience, did you ever think about including Nintendo characters to broaden the appeal?"
Rather than brushing the question off completely, instead Ono-san reacted very positively, saying he would like to make a Nintendo X Capcom fighting game and that the idea should be pitched to Nintendo of Japan and Masahiro Sakurai.
Assuming this title was green-lit, there's a strong chance it would follow past cross over games with both Nintendo and Capcom making their own game with each others' characters.
Tip from Mightychir and Mario_Brawler.
mario vs ryu
luigi vs ken
wario vs akuma
link vs guile
donkey kong vs zangief
lmao XD
Wow, I wonder how this would work? is it gonna be more of a kiddie style fighter (like SSBM) or more of a street fighter style fighter geared towards more mature fighting fans.. This is a news that I really wanna keep my eye on for sure.
If it did happen, Capcom would probably make their version more competitive and Nintendo would make theirs more casual. Everybody wins!
Needs to be a 4 player game like Smash Bros still, but with combos.
And that's really all they would agree to do. I absolutely cannot see Nintendo letting Capcom make their own version using Nintendo's characters without some very, very direct supervision.
And really this is just not gonna happen because the only person they'll let touch Smash Bros is Sakurai, and Sakurai probably isn't going to move to another Smash game after Kid Icarus. Finally finishing his stupidass 10-years-in-the-making console Kirby game would probably come first.
Or just something else. He doesn't seem like he wants to be shoehorned into making Smash Bros his entire career.
Now consider that the game would only be released for the Wii and we have a whole new level of disappointment. There is no way N is licensing characters for other platforms. I know Link made an appearance on Soul Calibur but I'm sure it's not going to fly with that many characters.
@11
True that it probably would be for the Wii only. A Nintendo title on my Xbox 360? Sounds weird if you think about it.
make it for the 3ds so we can have portable smash finally. They could hook a players 3Ds to the main screen at EVO.
Thanks.
As someone else mentioned CAN WE GET Cvs3 or atleast cvs2 with some proper netplay.
Granted i can see how the nintendo characters fitting into the capcom setting with controls similar to mvc3 and tvc. Then all the jerks in the smash bros series could just have most of there moves imported with mechanics changed. They already have ground chains and launcher like moves, along with light medium and heavy attacks. But please no, dont mix the 2 together.
Make it have iphone sf controls with dashing and push block. Done.
I for one would believe the game would be hype as hell, just to see Smashers jump on board and get wrecked. And hey, maybe they'd be able to prove they could play as well as SF/Versus Series vets as well. Just seeing the two communities clash would make events like EVO very interesting.
But I'm not a fan of so many versus series games coming out. We have MvC3, and it looks great. It'd be nice to see it last a while, but we're almost definitely getting SF X Tekken the following year. Then what? Nintendo X Capcom a year later?
Capcom said a while back that they're trying to push out more major releases, but this is getting to be fighting game overload. I'd say its almost getting to Madden/CoD levels of saturation, but the fighting games (SFIV, Tatsunoko, MvC3, etc.) at least seem to play differently, have different aesthetic styles, and feel a lot more unique overall than the former examples.
With that said, I would like to see the mash up, and I have a feeling it would turn out well.
Samus vs Mega Man X
Mr. Resetti vs Phoenix Wright
Wolf Link vs Amaterasu
Pokemon Trainer vs Monster Hunter
Mario and Luigi vs Ryu and Ken
Wario vs Rufus
Peach vs Chun li
Kirby vs Viewtiful Joe
Bowser vs Dante
I can see this being very entertaining.
@2
Blanka vs. Yoshi
Viewtiful Joe vs. Captain Falcon
Megaman vs. Samus
Wario vs. Rufus
Akuma vs. Ganondorf
Dudley vs. Little Mac
There are plenty of matches made-in-heaven to be had!
True Link was in Soul Calibur II, but it was on the gamecube version so it was still nintendo proof in a way. So chances are this would most likely be a Wii title unless this is nintendo's way of saying they are finally ready to let other consoles get of hold of some of their titles... Still unlikely but hey, Sonic is now on every console... and 2D fighters meet 3D fighters with SF X TK , TK X SF.
Arggh. Too much. Let's not get out of hand. Besides Bison vs. Ganondorf is a WAY better matchup.
if its anything like tvc it'll definitely be a hit with the cast alone. id rather have nintendo make a new smash bros on the 3ds or wii
No thanks. No reason to oversaturate the genre. Capcoms already trying their hardest to do so, we don't need help from Nintendo.
Why does it have to be Ono? This would have to be a Wii game because its Nintendo.
@#31
battle of the stomping, purple aura having, lack of staying dead bastards. >_<
Ono already wanting to do more fighters and mvc3, sfxt, txsf, kofXIII, ssf4AE, sf3:OE all still on the horizon that didnt release to consoles yet.... and hes wanting to bring up more fighters OH GOD this is getting out of hand
I'm going to put this in the same folder I put Sammy vs. Capcom when news of that popped up. Blowing smoke but nothing moves forward. Though I still have a small glimmer of hope that Guilty Gear and Street Fighter can co-exist.
@28
Sonic is on every console now because Sega no longer makes its own consoles, since they're not financially capable to do so any more...So that's kind of a bad example.
Nintendo will never stop making their own consoles and putting their trademark products only on those consoles, because their products sell like hotcakes and practically print money themselves. If this crossover game ever happens, it will be a Nintendo console exclusive.
Anyway, I think Capcom is better off just putting one or two of their trademark characters (Megaman and/or Ryu, for example) into the next Smash Bros like Sega did with Sonic and Konami did with Solid Snake. A full blown crossover game isn't necessary in this case.
Like it's already been mentioned, they're far better off doing another Capcom vs SNK, Darkstalkers 4, or some other company crossover that they can pimp out on multiple platforms as opposed to just one.
wow whats next capcom, a battle for the title of first lady of gameing between Samus, Chun-li, and/or Lara Croft. I just have one question, if this game does get green lit. Will it be a nintendo exclusive?
I know that lara croft isn't owned by capcom or nintendo. I was trying to say.... nevermind, forget it.
If someone could take something as good as Melee and make it better, or at least as good, I'd trust Capcom to do it. Nothing Brawl-like though.
A traditional fighter would be fine too, though I'd prefer a different series done in that case.
Just chiming in on some thought here.
For you CvS fans. Getting CvS3 is difficult because of legal reasons, Not impossible but don't think it's gonna be as easy a lets say namco x capcom 2. Also note that he said Nintendo X Capcom meaning it would not revolve around just Street Fighter but Capcom and Nintendo characters. It also probably won't be a fighting game, it could be something esle.
So you might see characters like Megaman, Authur, Amatarasu, Viewtiful Joe, with Nintendo characters. Similar to Marvel vs. capcom but less focused on actual fighters.
My feelings on it? I don't care, a lot of you are taking this way to heart. I say if they can do it, go for it. Same attitude I have with SFxT TxSF.
Just bring Marvel vs. Capcom 3 out already.
If this is ever going to happen, I'm putting my money on another Super Smash Bro type game. Nintendo is aimed towards small kids and teens (hence the lack of rated M games) I doubt they're going to make a traditional Capcom 2D fighter.
On another note, if Ono is looking into another fighter for Nintendo, maybe he should buy the rights of Killer Instint (from Rare or whoever owns it now) and remake it haha. I loved that game. It was actually my first fighting game.
(This is a good dea. Olimar need to bond with the capcom shorties. Ryu needs to see what a real fireball looks like!
BTW there was nothing wrong with Brawl. Take off your tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NostalgiaFilter
But guy did make a good point..where's Darkstalkers 4 o-0...BTW Capcom should also buyout the KOF company and do a versus game w/ them.)
Wow, people here are getting pretty worked up over a game that hasn't been announced and probably doesn't even exist yet in any form. And there sure is a lot of anti-Smash going around.
I'd like to see something like this happen.
No thanks, Nintendo would implement items and tripping and environmental hazards because nothing is more fun than random advantages.
That would be awesome!
For 3DS or Wii, either way would be Epic!
Capcom LOVES doing Mash-ups after all, Street Fighter vs SNK,Street Fighter X Tekken, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Marvel Vs Capcom, Professor Layton VS Ace attorney.
DO IT :D
#64
Gameplan are you retarted? Its a FIGHTING Game, just because its Nintendo its gonna be a Party game.
But seriously this would be awesome.
Capcom and Nintendo are gaming giants with Different types of genres of games, it would be awesome to see their characters Duke it out, Smash bros. Style or Marvel VS capcom style, either way would be awesome, and heck we might See Phoenix wright since its Nintendo licensed!
Guys, just because its Nintendo doesnt mean its AUTOMATICALLY Smash bros. Style, If were lucky it might be a New fighting system!
If you think about it, It would be awesome to see Nintendo Characters fight in the VS system, that would be crazy awesome!
@#69
No matter how hard people try to make Smash sound like a very complex and deep game, it's still more a party game than a fighting game. If you think that all of the sudden Nintendo's gonna throw all that out the window and make the most complex and competitive fighting game ever, then the only retarded people here is you.
@Gameplan
1. "Fighting game is a video game genre where the player controls an on-screen character and engages in close combat with an opponent. These characters tend to be of equal power and fight matches consisting of several rounds, which take place in an arena. Players must master techniques such as blocking, counter-attacking, and chaining together sequences of attacks known as "combos"."
Smash is a fighting game. Just not a traditional one. Deal with it.
2. Just because Nintendo is involved does not automatically mean that the game would be Smash Bros-style.
3. This game is purely hypothetical, and may not even be in production. For now it is just an idea. Stop getting so worked up about something that doesn't even exist yet.
I'm just going to assume that if they ever DID make a Nintendo/Capcom crossover, it'll just be a party game filled with mini-games, like Mario Party. They never did say that they wanted to make a FIGHTING game, though it does make me think since they asked Ono...
dang i didnt know there were so many nintendo haters out there lol why is that aha??? and even though i love my nintendo very very much i cant see this happening one bit nintendo characters are too goofy and capcom characters are pretty serious, i just dont think it could be put together very well. like serious mario vs ryu!! Ryu would destroy mario own his butt ina heartbeat lol. and besides i dont think that the game play style would work. i mean only recently did theser nintendo characters get super moves and even then it was only one super move and some of them were copies of each other.. if anything nintendo needs just to come out with a new system that is on par with the ps4 and xbox 720 if and whenever they come out, and make an even better smash bros before they even consider thinking of mashing it up with the awesome capcom franchise it just wont work.
wouldn't Capcom x Nintendo imply 2 versions with the other being Nintendo x Capcom?
I think that would be so much hype!! Ever since Brawl left a bitter nasty taste in my mouth, some buddies and I had a conversation back then of how amazing it would be if Capcom stepped in and made Brawl instead, adding Mega Man and creating a legit Smash game (keeping the concept the same, just changing the mechanics and physics a bit, removing tripping, balancing out the characters, adding depth and techniques).
Smash already had "focus attacks" and dodging/rolling, and all the ingredients necessary for a successful fighter. Sakurai just disregarded the competitive aspect of it all.
Sakurai needs to stay out of it. I've been playing Street Fighter since I saw Chun Li do her cool-as-f*** Spinning Bird Kick in Street Fighter II World Warriors at local liquor stores here in SoCal when I was in 2nd grade. Sakurai would take away everything that makes a fighting game worthy.
Sakurai didn't know what he was giving us when he made Melée. And after seeing what fans wanted and how quick and technical Melée was and how we wanted similar depth in Brawl, he farted in our faces with a trollish smile.
When asked about the competitive aspect of fighting games, Sakurai replied with a connotative example of feeling bad for the loser in a baseball game saying, "I would want both teams to win."
So, he threw in tripping, pity Smash Attacks, automatic ledge grabs, and Meta Knight. Sakurai is in no position to create a solid fighting game, so let him make Nintendo X Capcom, that's fine. But Capcom's "Capcom x Nintendo" better be a-f***ing-mazing, because this idea has so much potential!
yeah, ok, it will be on the Wii and the 3DS, but hey, aside from how rudely Sakurai spat on Smash, the visuals and physics of the game were BEAUTIFUL! I still think it's one of the best games on the Wii (visually, at the very least) that shows off its graphics and capabilities to a degree.
Adding in Capcom fighters and Capcom's touch would be sheer brilliance. End of story.
@SnakeX
I mean sonic could have just died out like many other mascots in the past but because they wanted to stay in the game, they sold out so to say to be on many other consoles. So I think in a way the example is decently valid. But I guess none of it matters too much to me. Just waiting to see where the gaming currents take me.
@FroggyMan77
I'm not saying Smash isn't a fighting game by definition, I'm saying it's more a party game than a fighting game. Look up the definition of party game to see what I mean. Besides Nintendo has never cared about fighting games or competitive games for that matter, so I don't expect anything more than another party game disguised as fighting game from them. Don't get me wrong, I like Nintendo games in general, just not their "fighting games".
And I'm not worked up about anything, I'm just saying that if this idea ever gets made Capcom would be better off spending those resources on other projects that many of us fighting game fans have been waiting for, like CvS3, a new Darkstalkers or Rival Schools, etc. But that's just my opinion, feel free to disagree with it.
#79 naters
I dont think its that they are nintendo haters, its moreso the fact that most "serious" fighting game fans dont see super smash bros as a serious fighter.
They also dont see the wii as a "serious" fighting game machine. So therefore the fighting game community would do the exact same thing to this title that they did to tatsunoko vs capcom, they would let a good game rot in hell because its on nintendos system.
The basic fact here is that if they both decided to develop their own games or if they decided to create one big game, it would be on nintendos sytem hands down, and "serious" fighting game fans have a probelm with that for some reason, and would boycot the game just like TVC.
Hell, capcom could put Tekken x capcom exclusive on the Wii, and instntly the game would be boycotted in the hardcore community, even if its the best fighting game ever.
@#77 Froggyman77, agreed.
Don't saturate the market with too many fighting games.
Only attempt to make this when there aren't already a bunch of other games in development. ( If anything, Capcom gets the next cameo in the next Super Smash Bros game)
Also I'm sure there are better less strange crossovers that can be done right now.
@Gameplan
"Party games are video games developed specifically for multiplayer games between many players. Normally, party games have a variety of mini-games that range between collecting more of a certain item than other players or having the fastest time at something. Such games include the Mario Party series, Crash Boom Bang!, and Rayman Raving Rabbids. Versus multiplayer games are not generally considered to be party games."
Please consider the last sentence in particular. Now sure, Smash can be played at parties, or any other event where a bunch of friends just want to get together and have a good time, but so can any other game.
You're more than welcome to have the opinion that you would rather see such-and-such other game, but here's something to keep in mind: not all of Capcom's fanbase is made of hardcore fighting game players. That's definitely a minority. But a Nintendo/Capcom crossover would be more attractive to a wider range of players than a Darkstalkers 4 or CvS3. And there's no reason why said crossover couldn't appeal to both sides; Melee sure proved that was possible.
@MALDA
Please. The Capcom fanboy in you would just eat this game up. Don't deny it.
@Hotdiddykong
Not necessarily SSB style, but look at Mariokart, Marioparty, any other competitive Nintendo game has way, way too many dicerolls and random advantages or pitfalls to create artificial excitement.
@#86 Gameplan
But thats the problem, capcom HAS been giving us eveything we want as fighting game fans plus the fighting game community in general is getting alot of love. MCV3, SSF4/AE, new MK, Tekken Tag 2, Capcom X Tekken, and ive even heard that Tekken 7 was confirmed. (may be a rumor) and there probalby are alot of other 2D games im missing....
Capcom may want to do something diffrent and capcom KNOWS that if they go in headfirst with that idea, it would make millions, hardcore game or not.
Capcom is still a development company looking to make a profit, and noone does that better than nintendo and capcom wants a peice of that....(I read a report that said nintendo has made enough profit off the wii to last for decades......)
this is what i think of SSB http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/93...
@Firegod
Just wanted to say that in the case of TvC (and I think I speak for the majority of fighting game fans out there) the problem was that a single great fighting game just doesn't justify buying a new console AND a new stick, period. I'd have loved to play TvC more but it simply didn't justify buying a Wii just for that. Not to mention Wii's online play is crappier and scarcer than in any other console (another proof that Nintendo doesn't care about competitive games).
as blasphemous as the idea sound, capcom needs to make a move to recruit new fans, and nintendoXcapcom is to capcom's advantage even though capcom's better at making fighting game. Capcom just want a piece of nintendo's smash brother pie as new fighting game recruits
honestly, how many of us in here are below 20 yr-olds. i'm not asking which of us, i'm asking how many
it's just business
go for it!!! Ono Smash vs Capcom would be awesome! Fall back hat3rs!
It can only end like this:
Smash-only players get raped by good SF players
SF hotshots get unexpectedly raped by good Melee players.
Then everyone realizes that they don't really know sh*t about games they don't actually play.
@MALDA
1. You don't know if this crossover will play like Smash Bros. Or if it will even exist at all.
2. Nope. I'm on PSN. And I don't play your beloved SSFIV, anyway.
@MALDA
Also, I love how you feel the need to feel better about yourself by getting into online fights just because you can't win a debate. Way to be insecure.
how is it that nintendo dosent care about hardcore/competitvie gamers? i think this is the only system that nintendo dropped the ball on that because if i remember correctly the gamecube had plenty of hardcore/competitive games... anyways i just have this lil thought that maybe nintendo purposely made a weaker system just for casual players ethier way they still made mass money off of the wii, and something tells me that nintendo has some big plans coming up with all that money they made. plus with this 3DS coming out there gonna be making even more money than they already have... nintendo isnt dumb maybe we just dont give em enough credit i cant wait to see what they annouce at this coming E3
@MALDA
PS3 has more exclusive games that I like. But let's not turn this into a petty console war.
Somethings aren't meant to happen. This is one of them.
@MrPavy
Well done, good sir. That pic actually made me laugh.
As far as this potential game is concerned, I'd rather Capcom not devote the time and resources into it. There are other possible projects that would be better appreciated by the fighting community.
GAY......... capcom please, im already waiting for mvc3, and sf x tekken, and another fighting cross over game please, dont waste your time. Dont forget to mention sf5. Im mean i grew up playing nintendo games, but nintendo's still thinking in the past not the present. I love there adventure games, but be honest, a fighting cross over game with capcom is just silly. Yea donkey kong is gonna be top tier over dan is just ridiculous, wait a minute donkey kongs no slouch. Okay fine but in all seriousness, this is silly even for capcom.
Epic fail, but who knows, it might just work. fadc into super marios ultra fire ball. WOW that really sounds gay. Lets just stop right there and forget we even heard about of this. Capcom focus on MvC3, SFxT, SF5. please, EL FUERTE(FTMFW)!!!!!!!!!! MK9 cant wait.
@ Mr Pavy
Seeing how tekken matches consist of, that picture fits perfectly, juggling bots!
I think if this happens, the most boss thing to do would be to pull a Tekken X Street Fighter Approach. Make one game based of the Smash Brothers Engine, and another based off of the Vs. Series engine.
BUT, if only one can be created, I think that Capcom should create a Vs. title from it. 2 on 2 battles (3 on 3 if were lucky) with team ups of popular characters ranging from Mario to Mega Man would be a gamer's wet dream come True <3333
MAKE IT HAPPEN CAPCOM!
A Smash Vs CAPCOM would be epic in certain manners only if developers take Melee and Smash 64 into account ONLY, no Brawl.
Waveshine, SHFFL, and everything that makes Melee a godly game, versus the crazyness of games like Marvel Vs CAPCOM, just with only CAPCOM characters.
THATS WHAT I WANTED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THEIR CAPCOM'S CROSSOVER!!Thats a totally perfect idea!!! Mario & Ryu have the same moves! Don't you see?
Fireball, Hadouken
Coin Uppercut, Shoryuken
Tornado Mario, Tatsumaki shemppukaku <---- ( Think thats how it spelled.) Heck yeah the rivalry would be excellent. Blanka VS Donkey Kong xD
Love it or hate it, we can all agree though it would be HILARIOUS. Only way it'd fit is if the Capcom characters were changed back to their Puzzle fighter look, and every match outcome would look like Hakan's ultra with the faces smashed against the screen.
...except for Samus Vs Megaman,that'd just be cool.
I believe for this to happen Nintendo will look at the sales figures of MvC3 and if the game sales better than just "well" Nintendo will take this into serious consideration,if Mvc3 sales ok or good Nintendo will second guess the deal.Business first fan demand second.(Thats why no talk of CvS3,Rival Schools 3,Power Stone 3, have ben made,and only casual talk of Darkstalker 4)Capcom thinks those franchises are too risky to produce new games for.I personaly would prefer those aformentioned games(i know i spelled that wrong),but i also would like this to happen but preferably if Capcom is in charge of the gameplay/mechanics.
to the people complaining about how nintendo would be too goofy, i mean cmon, Roll, Dan ,Sonson and Amingo in MvC2 were soooooo serious right? lol
I mean Mario has faught F*ckn Solid Snake already, im pretty sure Mario Vs Ryu would be fine, besides Nintendo has a huge fury of franchises they can use. its not gonna be nothing but Mario characters. also...it would be huge profit for both companies
I'd say go for it Capcom, and if possible make it TvC/MvC3 engine
how bout you focus on making a "balanced" game cuzz street fighter 4 aint it
Maybe this time around we can get some Power Stone Characters!!
Rather see Capcom vs SNK 3 or Capcom Fighting Jam 2, but really improved upon. It was a good idea until they limit the characters to their respective games. They should've made it similar to CvS2. Or they should actually name it Capcom All Stars, not complete 3D though, but in 2.5D like the games are now.
A melee-esque game with Street fighter characters would be boss! Juri vs Marth? Juri already has her spike move, and can definitely have a basic b command moveset and a smash moveset. If capcom come is in the picture then sakurai will HAVE to make it competitive rather then what the hell brawl was. To say the least, I'm interested.
If they used puzzle fighter looking characters small and friendly looking it would work out pretty well i'd like to think
For all the people looking for more sequels of old games, I personally am over it. I want new games. I don't want to see Capcom waste more time on a 3rd cvs etc..
Let's either see Nintento X Capcom or Mortal Kombat X Capcom or even a band new fighter with new characters. a new line of games so people will stop begging for sequels of games only because they spent years learning all the combos/glitches/tricks.
Nintendo X Capcom would exponentially bring more people to the fighting game world than any other sequal of past fighting games would. It grabs a whole different world of people into our "community" and I don't understand why people would'nt want that. Just my opinion tho.
@148 I agree
This is how it plays out "WAH WAH WAH where's street fighter 5"...
a week after its release "WAH WAH WAH" this character is too strong"
Asking for the sequel to a game where people cant stop complaing about the two main characters but regect a fresh title? Hmmm logic anyone?
Ummm if I were Ryu or Ken I wouldnt take the teenager with the magic weapons (Link) or the Beauty in the battle suit (Samus) too lightly either... Either way hate it now and its just a pitch but game drops and watch how they storm their local game store trying to get there hands on a copy.
Yes yes YES. This is the game I most hoped would sometime come into fruition. I have long wanted to see a -traditional- fighting game with Nintendo characters. A Smash Bros with Capcom characters would be great too. I am simply a fan of fighting games of all kinds. If both versions happened, I would get both. I have simply longed to see these two companies and their grand selection of franchises finally meet.
It's such a tease to have seen my 3 most wanted Capcom VS _____ titles mentioned lately, which is VS Nintendo, VS Ark System Works, and VS Mortal Kombat. I hope one of these eventually happens.
Well, more than likely...this game has already been in the works for quite some time. Probably since the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
I remember a short interview with Capcom around that time. Pretty much during the interview, Capcom was asked if Nintendo had approached them about having Megaman in the game. Capcom pretty much replied,"We have not been contacted by Nintendo at all."
This of course was probably a way of covering up what they were currently in the first stages of creating with them.
Keep in mind, just because they announce a game now doesn't mean they haven't already started developing it.
Street Fighter X Tekken is a good example of this.
Don't open this door, Capcom. Nintendo is so incredibly out of touch with the entire video game industry these days, it's like a well-educated, fashionable socialite gentleman (Capcom) wanting to hang out with a self-important manchild that sleeps in a room full of toys and anime posters and never leaves his house (Nintendo).
Capcom and Nintendo these days are as different as chalk is to cheese.
I don't get why you people thinking this is bad, capcom and Nintendo are gaming giants, it will be awesome to see their variety of characters Duke it out!
Smashbros. Or VS style it would be great! Maybe they might do something creative!
And seriously haters, leave Nintendo alone, thve been on fire since 2010 and are getting their hardcore fans back, speaking ill of them now means trolling
Also take note that Nintendo made smashbros. Themselves and its with their huge variety of characters its not just Mario you know.
No one knoes tatsunoko characters and yet you accepted it so why not Nintendo?
In my opinion, I want to see Nintendo characters like Mario and link fight marvel vs capcom style,it would be epic!
You guys are talking about saturation like it's going to be released this year. Nothing is confirmed, nothing is even in the talks. All Ono said was that he thinks it's an awesome idea, and someone should pitch it to Nintendo.
I would imagine meeting need to be set up, approvals from nintendo, playstyle, will it play like Vs series? like smash? like SF? completely new style? Characters, etc.
Long story short, I don't see this happening till 2014, and that's being positive. By 2014, I'm sure fighting fans would want to play other things.
Holy crap dude, proof that fighting game fans will complain about EVERYTHING
This is a match made in heaven, and there's people complaining it's not Darkstalkers or CVS3....
....yeah...
I think people click every post on the front page and instantly try to figure out a way to troll it, lol. :)
I dunno, I would rather Capcom do a big all Capcom fighting game, like make a good version of Fighting Evolution, like how SNK did Battle Coliseum. I'd love to play something like "Capcom Fighting Universe", "Capcom All Star Battle" or something like that before I'd want a new cross-over, not knocking the idea, just want Capcom to really showcase their own line up in a game and do it really well before taking on another new cross-over.
I think it would be kind of cool,then again,i like to see other crossovers along with this,not against this.
mk vs sf, capcom vs snk 3, svc chaos snk vs capcom 2, blazblue vs guilty gear, samurai shodown vs last blade, mortal kombat vs eternal champions vs killer instinct, tekken vs virtua fighter, marvel vs dc universe,and jojo's bizzare adventure vs hokuto no ken.
@gameplan #102
I do see what your saying and that is a good point, however, what I dont agree with is saying that its 100% nintendos fault, its the fanbase's fault includeing the fighting game community.
Look at it this way, most games that go on the Wii are almost guarenteed to sell between 25-50k copies of a game (specially in Japan) so many people own a Wii thats its almost impossible to straight bomb a title unless it REALLY sucks.
So you would think "Ok so mature games will work on the wii?" but they dont because the FANBASE considers the wii to be a kiddy machine, specially the fighting game community...
Third party companies have tried fighting games, first person shooters, mature games ect ect, and funny enough, they do well, just not legend of zelda well, and the reason why is because the "mature" audience doesnt take wii serously, they would rather play a M rated title on PS3 or Xbox 360, thats not Nintendos fault....
@CVS
Sadly i read the list and i definatly agree with Samurai showdown vs last blade lol...
I don't think I could get into this, Nintendo is a completely different universe. It would be a hell of a lot harder than something like Tekken vs. SF.
I'd also rather their upcoming titles come out before we get news on stuff like this. If they want more of something, give the community a few new characters in AE with more stages. xD
While there are undeniably some characters that would fit with Nintendo's whimsical franchises (Dan, Blanka, the entire Megaman franchise, and hell they could even whore ol' Rye-oo out in the next Smash), the overall tone of Capcom's franchises just isn't a good match. Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, most of the cast of Street Fighter, DMC.... yeah. And if I ever see Bison on the same screen with ol' four fingers Mario I might haver as seizure. Maybe Mario vs. Megaman.
@Firegod
Sorry but if non-casual gamers or hardcore or whatever you want to call them don't like the Wii it's just because there's not enough games that interest them on it, period.
Personally I don't care if a console is Nintendo, MS or Sony, and I couldn't care less about game ratings. If the console has enough games that interest me, I'll buy it. The problem with the Wii is that, at least for me, it has very few interesting exclusives compared to the other consoles (besides the umpteen Mario game). Not to mention the sub-par graphics and terrible online play. All that is Nintendo's fault. They made the conscious decision to produce a console with weak online capabilities and sub-par graphics, specifically targeted to casual gamers and they've been very successful at that. But don't tell me it's not their fault that some people aren't willing to shell out their hard earned money just to play a couple of interesting exclusives and party games on the Wii.
Considering that most of Nintendo's characters are in chibi form, and the fact that this game would be a Nintendo exclusive catering to Nintendo's fanbase, a crossover between both companies would be more appropriate in Smash Bros' term with a few Capcom quirks and mechanics thrown in for good measure. With that in mind, a roster that is chibi compatible would be in the game's best interest. Here's what I have in mind:
-On Capcom Side-
•SF Pocket Fighter (Ryu & Chun Li)
"Megaman (Megaman X, & Zero)
•Viewtiful Joe (Joe, Silvia, Leo, & Dante)
•Ghoul & Goblins (Arthur)
•Power Stone (Mc Cloud)
•Strider (Strider Hiryu)
•Okami (Amaterasu)
•Zack & Wiki (Zack)
•Resident Evil (any notable zombie)
•ETC.
-On Nintendo Side-
•Mario Bros (Mario, Luigi, Peach & Bowser)
•Legend of Zelda (Zelda, Link, & Ganondorf)
•Metroid (Samus)
•Star Fox (Fox & Falco)
•Pokemon (Pikachu, etc.)
•Kirby (Kirby & Metal Knight)
•Donkey Kong (Donkey & Diddy)
•ETC.
Even tho I don't like Smash Bros at all, and would rather have Capcom develop every Versus games they contribute to, I think this would be best. Plus, we have plenty of versus games in the vain of SF/Darkstalker as is. (Marvel vs Cap, Cap vs SNK, Cap vs Tas, and SFxTK)
Oh please, people talking about Nintendo characters not fitting next to Capcom characters. But Tatsunoko characters are totally fine eh? Even within the Smash Bros franchise, they managed to get cutesy Pikachu and Kirby alongside serious characters like Samus, and SNAKE of all people. Tell me with a straight face that Ryu or Roll fits with Mario less than Snake does with Pikachu....
Anyways, if this gets the green light, I bet everyone will show a different light, deserting their skepticism and hopping the hype-train as soon as first screen shots or trailer show up.
If Nintendo can make SNAKE...SOLID SNAKE...SOLID SNAKE of METAL GEAR fame...fit in a Smash Bros. game and actually make sense...they can definitely make ANY character fit in a Smash Bros. type game.
PERIOD!!!
Works for me, though it's easier to imagine Nintendo chars in a traditional fighter than to picture Zangief's up-B or something.
Unless... unless his spinning clothesline made him rise like a helicopter x__x;
