Hadoken.net got an exclusive interview with Capcom's Seth Killian. Topics run the gamut here, from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to a potential entry in the SF4 series. Here's a copy and paste.
Is Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition really the last entry to the SF4 series, or should we expect a Hyper SF4 in the future?
Seth: Internally, we had planned for this to be the last entry in the SFIV series.
Besides the mediocre Legend of Chun-Li, we certainly haven’t felt a Street Fighter revival in other media such as TV, anime and movies. Is Capcom planning anything in the future for that matter?
Seth: Yes. I can’t get into specifics, but a lot of things have come together recently that should mean you’ll be seeing new projects that appeal to a lot of different kinds of SF fans.
If its a movie then it should be done by the ones that did the Street Fighter short film on Youtube. That was better that all the SF movies that went to theaters and it was only about 3 mins I believe. As far as animated movies go then it would be hard to top the Street Fighter 2 animated movie but nonetheless its still possible. I for one being a huge fan of the SF story would like to see that as well. Also a series would be great provided they do it right. I wouldn't even have Ryu as the main character per se. Every episode could revolve around different characters like chapters or something; each character having their own set of episodes in the series with guys like Ryu, M.Bison and other rarely seen characters making being mentioned and making came appearances randomly throughout the series but still having their own chapters. A series would be a great idea provided it's done right.
@ #2 & #8
I saw this SSFIV Juri movie. About 40 minutes of Buffed Juri kicking Chun li, Guile & Cammy. With a little story. Just an introducing to Juri's Story.
It's funny how some new characters are loved and others are just treated like trash: Juri & C. Viper get a movie, Abel gets a little story, & Hakan & El Fuerte become jokes and low tier.. :'(
I could've SWORN that Capcom said that SSFIV was supposed to be the last installment of the Street Fighter IV series when it was about to be released. AE's the FOURTH iteration of SFIV. Just try to get it right once and for all & stop releasing BS DLC.
You know i dectinctly remeber a while back that ono was talking about the possilbiaty of a sf4 anime dont know if any of you guys remeber that a lot of people just didnt realy care about but am still hyped for it.
by the way forgive my bad typing i ment to say possibility lol
If we're talkin movie, we better be talkin Pixar level 3D animated Mega Man.
Just please, keep Dreamworks the hell away from it. When it comes to animation, mediocrity is their middle name.
Anything live action, well... I've always thought that the only thing that would really work is Ryu's story. It would work kind of like The Last Samurai, with all the heavy emphasis on Japanese culture in the film, and it would focus on Ryu's training under Gouken, his first time being exposed to the arrogance of an American (Ken), the eventual betrayal by Akuma (forcing Ryu to basically "grow up" on his own), among other things.
It would be a meditation on culture, race, tradition, spirituality, and art, as well as being excellent fan service.
It would focus on how Ryu became the man that he is (instead of offering up a two minute montage to explain it).
As for anything else, maybe there'll be a new TV series for SF (if done right, it could be great).
So not even Seth hast cracked the "Ono Code" huh?
I would like to see a Street Fighter anime movie; please no more live-action movies :(
I bet C Viper would be involved. Now that Capcom THINK we like her.
