Phoenix looks fun. With all that healing and resurrecting, though, she probably has the lowest health in the game. But that healing field...is much faster than Unlimited Hazama's.
Haggar looks boring to me, though. Alex was somewhat fun in TvC because he was a grappler with some actual speed and agility, but since Haggar doesn't have an airdash or a dive attack, he's going to have trouble in this game. I predict he'll be just like Thor.
Great additions for this game. I am looking forward to the midnight release at my local Gamestop. I am still praying for Dr. Strange. Anyone know of a fight club in the DC area?

if you watch the video :50s you can see that dante got some chip damage on one move then a "3" hit combo on her on the ground(no special moves) and it took out "1/4" of her life bar before the resurrection happened.
Wouldnt wanna picture her getting hit by anyone thats a heavy hitter. And given the nature of the game alot of people already seem to start off hitting pretty hard with an opener combo.
I say she almost have between shin akuma cvs2 type health and seth ssf4 health. bleeding damage is an understatement.

Why are people saying Hagger copying Zangief and vice versa?
They both are wrestlers with exaggerated wrestling moves. Of course they are gonna have similarities especially given its capcom making the game. So far i havent seen Haggar doing a double german suplex, aerial russian slam, running power bomb, green hand, Siberian blizzard, mech transformation....
Haggar is his own character and sharing only a spinning lariat, and Haggar piledriver did little damage in that clip.
And about phoenix She cant take a hit, she lost about 1/4 health from a ground 3 hit chain, some balancing tactic they got going there. I see why the allowing her to come back lol.
Phoenix reminds me of Ragna from Blazblue at the moment. Her Dark Phoenix form seems to have similar properties to Ragna's Blood Kain.
This basically means once active, she'll lose health(even when not being attacked) but she can regain health by attacking the opponent. Its a risk reward technique. It'll will be rubbish with out an assist as she'll take damage trying to get in.
That's my take on her so far.
Haggar is hype but they seriously need to get rid of that yellow lighting effect. I mean its all over the place and some of the smaller characters gets overshadowed by it making it nearly impossible to even see their animations when they are hitting someone! I dont usually complain much but this has been buggin med for quite some time.... I just want the game to be perfect you know.

I'm glad that phoenix is finally confirmed. She was the most requested female character back at the very first streams even Marn said that he wanted her in the game so I suppose he is going to use Super Skrull, Zero and Phoenix.
I like both characters but still missing some others like Mega Man, Strider Hiryu, Captain Commando, Vergil and Sigma.
Anyway these videos make my day :).

I will definitely consider Phoenix in my team now. With Mayor Mike though, well I'm not really a fan of his play style but I'll try him out also.
On a side note, remember when Capcom said that there's gonna be this one thing (i dunno if they were talking about a character or another completely new thing) being introduced in the game that will BLOW YOUR MINDS away? So far they haven't revealed anything of that sort yet. And that is what I'm really waiting for.

This basically confirms the leaked roster. Phoenix, who was supposedly deconfirmed because she was broken, is now part of the roster. She even has the Max level hyper resurrection into Dark Phoenix.

That being said i really like these two characters, and phoenix didnt show me anything i thought was overpowered unlike magneto or storm, she looks like her main power is going to be her supers, and her normals and other moves are all going to be good, but turn GODLIKE once you turn Dark phoenix, which im glad they have health loss when you use her. I bet the healing wave either heals her to counteract it, or they are smart and she can use her healing super if shes dark phoenix. Hagger. HAGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Thats all thats needed.

Phoenix looks cool and is going to be a problem, but not so sure about Haggar, I don't understand the point of some characters and how you could be hyped about Haggar.
Take NOTE that the level we first saw Haggar in from his leak has not been revealed yet. Namor could be his true Rival, but that could of course be said for other characters. It's possible that it could be Namor and Akuma next, but is yet to be revealed. On the Christmas trailer there was a ball of fire in the city which could be Phoenix and that might have something to do with Haggar showing up from that tragedy. I love how Haggar looks like he just came from the Barber shop, he has a fresh new hair cut lol.

Man you cant generalize like that about all sentinel players. I for one like him mainly due to him being a huge machine and being an old school xmen animated cartoon fan. Also a general fan of mechs and the like. I've Played with him on xmen COTA, just sadly his appearance in mvc2 he did his job too well at killing mutants LOL.
And altho sentinel was sent to godtier status he wasnt a character you could just pick and dominate with, all that weird fly/unfly mess and having assists to cover him.
So insulting the players about having to "learn" a character doesnt really apply just cause he was broken in a way. In which none i can do really and my friends can just use sentinel only infinites on me lol.

Modok, She hulk, X-23, Taskmaster, Hsien ko, Felicia, Sentinel and some others instead of cool characters like:
Cable, Silver Surfer, Namor, Emma Frost, Donovan, Demitri, Apocalypse, Omega red, Green goblin, Dr Octopus, Stryfe, Loki, Blackhear or Thanos.
At least we should have Green Goblin instead of Modok, Emma Frost instead of She Hulk and Apocalypse instead of Sentinel.
I usually don't hate on new characters like a lot of people on this site, but for all the hype people had over Haggar, he looked a little boring, both to play and to watch. Slow animations and really, REALLY short combos. Kind of like an unarmed human fighting in an arena of gods, and it's way too much suspension of disbelief to see him as dealing as much damage as the other characters. This is MvC3. I want my 50 hit combos and swirling spires of fire/energy/punches/pwnage.
Why is Haggar in this game? He doesn't fit and he looks stupid. If there is any character that should be considered a wasted slot, it's Haggar.

Dude, I jumped off my bed when I heard that sample from Cody's theme. Haggar is looking solid, but I see much time and effort being used to actually have a chance with zoning characters, especially Dormammu. Great pick, can't wait for more!
As for Phoenix, she's looking really great, although she suffers from extremely poor health. (Did you see that 3-hit combo from Dante before Dark Phoenix?) The idea for Dark Phoenix is brilliant, IF you're lucky to have 5 bars at the time of death, she comes back but with draining health.
Her Healing Field is also good, especially if someone can build meter with her fast, she could probably take down an entire team by herself if used right.
I'm sorry, I'm somewhat confused about Phoenix. I understand that it takes a MAX Hyper meter for her to turn into Dark Phoenix, but...is it automatic? I'm gonna guess most likely

People automatically assuming Phoenix to be God tier. No one has even used her yet. Yea so what she can auto-revive herself. But you need 5 levels built up first. Plus what if her original form is so weak that even her powered up version can't balance out how Roll or Dan-ish her original form is? Im not trying to notion that she isn't good but none of us no anything yet. People are too jump happy these days at trying to figure out who is bottom/top tier these days it is ridiculous. Lets just wait and play the game for awhile and let the actual game evolve before we start throwing this stuff out... thats what the fun is anyways is figuring out the metagame, not just assuming it.

His name is Haggar, not Hagger. Get it right, you fools. This is the mayor of Metro City, a true Capcom legend, so learn to spell his name properly. People who complain that he's too similar to Zangief or that he looks stupid are absolutely clueless and need to go back to whatever non-fighting games they used to play before SF4 came out.

All right guys I'll brush you up on the history and why they chose Haggar for all the EARLY Nay sayers on Haggar.I've done alot of research and I own alot of official books from capcom that talk about behind the scenes. (Which I think he looks awesome and needed at this point). Ok when Sf 1 launched in "88 it bombed but capcom new they had something going with this new head 2 head compitition in arcades. so they wanted a another one from the design team. The design came up with "street fighter 89" which was an all new different type of game which they eventually realeased as Final Fight. The higher up producers were pissed off about this and sent the dev. team back to the drawing board and wanted whats sf 1 had. that head to head battle with ryu as the main. They got a new head producer for it and he decided lets have the player pic his own style of play with each character. They needed a grappler type character in the game and thought Haggar was a great design but wanted a more wide range around the world type feel not just a mayor from Metro City.(New York) So they made Zangief from Russia. From adesign point all the moves and inspiration came fropm Haggar they just made him play alittle differnt. Ex. regular pile driver became spinning Piledriver. Why waste time and resources on starting on a whole new character when we have the basis of a great one already made up. We just pallet swap his face and add a speedo and hair. Now in the comic books by Udon (which came way later) Haggar and Gief Wrestle in the early days of the story and Haggar actually teaches and woops Giefs ass. The only reason why people like Gief and say Haggar is a clone is because Haggar hasn't had any exposure in like 20 years. If it were the other way around people wolud say Gief is just a clone like the shotos. It's all about design and inspiration and you have to look at like that as well as exposure. Now of course we hope Haggar has some other moves up his sleeve and plays Little bit different right. Not just a spit an image. I mean he does carry a big mean PIPE! That could be a game changer.
looks like Phoenix has 2 life bars. one that has low HP (shin akuma in cvs2 / seth in sf4), and then one where she transforms, refilling her life, and has it drain steadily. interesting if this is what is going on.
her dark phoenix transformation occurs after she is about to be KO'd using 5 hyper bars.
once dark phoenix (or whatever it's called) is activated, her life is refilled and drained steadily.
also, during this, she builds meter FAST, allowing for more hyper combos.

Sorry for the long post I just wanna talk about why people shouldn't dog on other poeples characters so fast even when the game isn't even out yet. People shouldn't say this guy is awaste of space or he or she is a clone so they shouldn't be in. You never know you could be wrong you actually might like the character. I mean if the leaks are right then we are getting Akuma and if that isn't the biggest clone or waste of space then I don't know what is. Now onto why they picked Haggar. Look the roster has no heavy grapplers especiually on capcoms side. I think he looks great. If you look close I think they designed him to be a mix of gief with Colossus. Which COl. is a different type of powereHouse. Yes Haggar dosen't have the shoulder charge or the super Armomr but look at some of his normals and his dashes and hit launchers. They look very wide, damaging and faster then Geifs much like one of my mains Colossus. He even has as someone mentioned earlier his air spinning grab. And colossus's Dive bombs super with splash damage ontop. I think he was not only added but also designed to fill both of these characters from Mvc2. I mean come on Colossus was a classic and a power house if you new how to you use him. Yes his combos were simple looking and not as flashy just like Haggars look, but they hit hard and destroy point characters right out of the gate. Not bragging at all! My colossus could wipe out 2 guys before I even lose half my life and I could just straight kill one full life character if in the corner or near the edge With one combo. Lets hope haggar can fill both of these guys shoes. Now thats not to say I would have love to seen DR. Wily, Mega Man X,Sigma, Strider, Hob or Green Goblin, Red Arrmer, Omeg Red, Capn' Commando or even CYC. but at this point we need to just quit whining and roll with it,tis is a new game and I don't mind new faces even if they are rooted like someone else. Least I know how and what type the character plays like. Lets expierement with everyone and then hope for good DLC. Right Guys lets not Judge yet.

@171: Amen to that. It was pretty obvious that most of the characters who appeared in MvC 2 won't be making the cut in this one, as well as Marvel & Capcom deconfirming certain characters. I'm sure they had good reasons for it.

Lol i kinda stopped caring after Arthur and Magneto and company were revealed, the cast is amazing at that point, and any other characters were just a bonus :D! Hoping that Mega-Man is revealed, if not the DLC must have him later. Hopefully it is low cost in terms of points.

Short list but Phoenix was just what I expected....Phoenix lol. Besides as much as I'm interested in playing her, she's looks way gimmicky to be that good or fun based on the footage.

- Has like 3 specials...lunge, fireball, and some mini bird?
- Alpha 3 Psycho Crusher
I just expected more out of Phoenix outside of her crazy supers...but hey we'll find out next month
... Huh. If you listen closely, you can actually make out some of Haggar's theme from Saturday Slam Masters in his MvC3 theme. That's actually kind of nice.

Except you're wrong. MODOK, She-Hulk, Taskmaster, Felicia, Hsien-Ko are cool characters.
She-Hulk is one of Marvel's most popular female heroes and MODOK is a classic Marvel villain.
Taskmaster is a badass and the best merch in the Marvel universe. He's popular and he recently had his own Mini series, which was awesome.
Also, Omega Red and some of the others you've mentioned aren't relevant anymore. Taskmaster sure as hell deserves to be in more than Omega Red(Who isn't used in the comics anymore).

Everyone is so hyped over Mike Haggar. You people have horrible taste in characters, character design and character playstyle. He looks so dumb and boring, there is nothing exciting about him. So what he's a mayor of metro city, what does that have to do with a fighting game of this caliber? I think he's a waste of a percently got spot for someone better, I blame the dumb fanboys who cried to see this dumb character come back. I am going to take it personal if any of my opponents pick him against me. Mike Haggar what a waste. If anyone has a problem with this comment play me when the game comes out, thats a challenge to the Mike Haggar fanboys...
Wow! All that whining and it's not gonna change anything! Not gonna change how excited I am that Haggar is in the game. Not gonna change the fact that he's in the game. Not gonna change anything . Not gonna ruin it for the Haggar fans who have been waiting YEARS for the Mayor. So if you're not gonna change anything why the incessant buzzing? Wasted slot? Yawn. The only thing I'm waiting for is a Geif/Haggar face off in one way or another. According to backstories they're professional rivals. Anyway they both take turns copying each other's moves. I can see them having similar moves but different playstyles much like the Ryu/Ken rivalry but , you know.... better.
What's dull about piledrivers? Or the lariat? Or his beastly level 3 hyper? Or his mustache? How many hulking mayors do you know that get half naked and go around cleaning up the Capcom AND Marvel universes? Don't worry there will be plenty of fireballs and other pretty flashing lights from other characters. One thing I don't like about him though is that weird hyper where he just keeps throwing the same punch over and over. And why no shark?
