Balrog is the latest character to get his Super Street Fighter 4 guide heavily revised, the changes were all compiled by Nyoronoru. This area now has new descriptions for Balrog's specials, Ultras and normal moves, along with an expanded and more detailed combo section.Balrog is one of the strongest characters in Super Street Fighter IV. He has above average stamina, a huge amount of ways to attack the opponent and a great anti-air game.
He also has more armored moves than any other character along with the most armor breakers. His pokes are very hard to punish and his jabs are the best in the game. Couple this up with very good walk speed, great normal anti-airs and meterless combos into his Ultra 1 and Balrog is a very dangerous beast.
ScytheWP also has another terrific guide for Balrog here on the EventHubs.com forums, which contains hitbox visuals for his moves, match up data and tons of other information.
Balrog is a very dangerous beast. He won the WBC title when he was 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old, after defeating Trevor Berbick by a TKO in the second round. Throughout his career, Balrog became well-known for his ferocious and intimidating boxing style as well as his controversial behavior both inside and outside the ring.
He was the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles simultaneously. Balrog is considered to have been one of the better heavyweight boxers of all time. He is also the only Heavyweight boxer to individually unify the WBC, WBA and IBF titles.
Nicknamed "Dirty Bull" and "The Baddest Man on the Planet", Balrog won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, with twelve of them occurring in the first round. He unified the belts in the splintered heavyweight division in the late 1980s to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Balrog became the lineal champion when he knocked out Michael Spinks in the first 91 seconds of the fight. Balrog lost his titles to 42-to-1 underdog Buster Douglas on February 11, 1990, in Tokyo, Japan, by a knockout in round 10.
@10
No, no, no... You're doing it wrong! Every pro knows you got to have a turbo button for the jabs.
Pressing repeatedly is a thing of the past.
@13
Yeah, Sometimes I honestly think of this match like Zangief, but instead of the grab, it's the jab! It's so easy to mash and 3 frame start up? WTF!!!
Not to mention one of the most simple hit-confirms in the game. Jab 3x> Headbutt >U1
T.T
@15
I don't mind playing against Zangief at all, since it's not bad if I focus on zoning effectively.
The problem with fighting Balrog with Sakura is that it's so hard to get in. He can easily jump over/TAP hadokens and punish due to the slow recovery. He can headbutt or crouching high punch my jump-ins, and any attempt at pressuring leads to me eating c.jabs to ultra.
Oh well, I'm most likely bitching and don't know the mathchup enough, but dammit it's difficult.

6. Be cool to each other. We don't want people with horrible or elitist attitudes on EventHubs.com. It's OK every now and then to get pissed off at someone, call them names, etc. It's the Internet — it happens.
It is NOT OK to call everyone a "n00b", bash their ideas and generally be an a$$hole. If you want to act like you know everything and everyone else is a scrub — you're not wanted on this website.
Why was my post removed. I felt I was contributing lol.
Whichever mod removed all the comments, I know you are trying to keep arguments to a minimum and maintain order. But I wouldn't get all trigger-happy with all these comment removals. Most of the people here are joking. And even if people disagree and argue, we are all entitled to our own opinions. But it's all just opinionw.
I, for one, would rather see some swearing and arguments here and there rather than a whole batch of comments being censored.
Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work :)
I.Cracked.A.Joke not trying to say Rogs or he was a noobs or anything
Since he made the "Profit" joke I wanted to fix it with Rog related lines that's why I said
"1.Jabjabjab
2.headbutt
3.ultra
4.SAY GOODNIGHT CHUMP
5.??? (because that's the real point of the joke to get the ???)
6.TIME TO GET PAID(to compliment the ??? it's followed by profit )"
I like Rog's simple nature (and believe it's funny when some one who obiviously doesn't play the charater tries to make fun of them so I just make fun back), so saying it's an Elitist attitude is bullsh!t it's a Joke. One you obivious can't take Zombie
shameonumod Actually you do see less than 95% of characters not winning(Rufus,Ryu, Akuma, Adon, Sagat,Gulie, Fei Long making the precentage around 20% of the the Pre-AE cast)the thing is the rog army actually attends tournements even if they are pot monsters they still actually show up which is more balls than most players can say on this site.
the only reason I brought up that it's funny is because everyone is like "oh you can always get a win with him, he's a scrub character" but when it comes to them playing him or why they aren't in top 16s tourney they suddenly turn toward "well because everyone who plays him are balls"
I would main him, i just don't like his attitude and character, but Balrog is a monster overall. Since i main Dudley i have a lot of hard times fighting against Balrogs. (Depending on how far away i am BALROG HAS LIKE THE Ewwwest Reach) but that's just me
one of the most boring characters in the game, I like the character but not he gameplay, is so plain, almost safe moves,high priority, high damage, high stamina, good speed, Godlike jabs well no so much risk on him, the only problem I see is with fireballs (good ones) but any character in this game have problems with those so is not a big weakness....
I really want a guide updated for a medium or low tier, I only see updated guides for high character that dont really need to be helped with this... next update will be for honda, bison, guile, or ryu xD
Definitely reading up on this for counters. I HATE BOXER! He's one of those characters that are obnoxious to fight regardless or style or player skill because of his ridiculous normals, 2 great anti-air options, hyper armor and armor breaking moves and never was candidate for getting the nerf bat lol.
Heck, I used to main Bison and still had the fortitude to admit he was stupid good. Boxer players (from my experience, much like the character) will never admit he's too strong.
Balrog is a hard match up for most, if not for all of the cast. I especially hate his fierce normals whether standing or crouching because they either: 1) have higher priority and reach against many moves or; 2) can trade into just about any move in the game, especially his crouching fierce anti-air.
No doubt he is truly one of the best characters in the game. He has very good defense, offense, and hit stun. And he supposedly got even better in AE? Wow.
Balrog is simple and effective, but predictable. So his high stamina, super armor on dash punches, and armor breaking punches help mitigate those weaknesses.
Balrog doesn't win much, but JSMasters beat the best players in the world with him so he can fight anyone (seems to suck against Guile though).
My advice is to learn a counter character and get a good Balrog on your friends list.
DextersWrath His personality is what makes him great because unlike Fancy pants Dudley he actually came from Jack S*** and is looking for a pay day even if it means knocking some one's face off their skull. He reflects the actual street fighter more than anyone else even Cody who is the only street fighter character in the main series to actually use street fighting. I'm really wanting to see what happens with that Psycho Power'd kid in SF5 since it seems like Rogs going to train him.
The only reason people use balrog is because hes hella cheap and broken as f***. If his jabs were just a little slower he wouldnt be s***...You dont need a brain to use this character such as any shoto or or any other charge character for that matter.
@Ex_Ein you must be one of those idiots that run to top tiers for wins online i'm a B and C tier kinda guy i earn my wins...
Lol @ 40. If you put the time in to learn the character you'll get more quality wins. Beating scrubs online has very little to do with tiers try to learn that before insulting others.
I guess dirty boxing tactics can be considered an art of Street Fighting but I gotta say that Cody still displays that best.
