Seth Killian shared a bit of insight to why the 'flight' moves in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 work the way they do recently on the Unity Boards. He also briefly mentioned when we'll hear more about Street Fighter X Tekken, and a few other people jumped in on other topics.
Why is the "flight" for everybody who can fly in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 so short in duration?
Seth Killian: There are lots of possibilities with flight (like calling assists out of a flight started from a normal jump, etc.) that could be very powerful with certain character combinations in an extended flight.
As it is already, flight adds additional mobility, gives you new ways to use more special moves in the air, and in some cases gives you all kinds of crazy possibilities by fly-canceling grounded normals.
Extended flight time would also make it easier for some characters to just run and hide from certain others. Zoning is already strong with improvements to a lot of projectiles, and while this kind of *keepaway* style is a primary tactic for a number of characters, we weren't as interested in empowering an easy way to just *run away* for extended periods of time with long flight times.
Why isn't Hulk's Gamma Wave command a quarter-circle motion? — The Voice
Seth Killian: As to Hulk's Gamma Wave command, we weren't settled on the charge motion from the start (and as some may have seen we experimented and had it with different controls in different builds we let people play), but the charge motion was ultimately settled on to minimize command overlap with his other specials. Of course it affects gameplay a bit, but given the way Hulk moves (and how he uses it within combos) it was felt the move was still very viable and that it was the best overall solution.
Can we get a time line as to when or where we should look to for more announcements concerning Street Fighter X Tekken? — Brandon
Seth Killian: You can expect more info around the time of Capcom's annual "Captivate" event in April. You may even get the info directly from some fellow Unity members in attendance. :)
If the rights to King of Fighters were available, would you grab it?
Svensson: [...] With as many IPs as people are requesting of us to bring back or reinvigorate (especially fighting IPs), I'm not sure we'd need more.
How is Lite Mode not going to severely imbalance gameplay in SSF4 3DS? — Metalhart
Snow: You don't HAVE to play with people online using the "lite" control mode. You can filter them out.
i didn't know people were crying about flight times of all things to cry about in mvc3 right now...oh and 1st :)
If they made hulks gamma wave a quarter circle, i could see people adding him to there spam teams
@7
I was thinking more along the lines of using his gamma wave like a projectile, but your right.
@#5
Hulk is capable of churning out gamma waves in rapid succession with the charge motion. Im able to keep the rocks flowing faster than ryu can keep up with grounded fireballs. Im actually happy they switched the motions around on his specials from the previous titles the moves flow better this time around.
Really? Maybe im just not used to charge moves then lol, i always find a quarter circle easier to do
@#11
yea ive played charge characters since sf2 upto 3s. There was a video posted here with hulks semi infinite on assists with churning out the gamma waves. yea qcf motions are easier in a way but with the charge you are usually ready to block and dont get accidental srk motions at times leading to fatal results.
To all of the whiners begging for Karin with the release of every game, stop. I read the top 50 most wanted for Capcom DLC in MvC3, and she wasnt even on there. How does that work? No one cares about her. You guys are seriously the only ones. "It better have all of these rival school Characters" No, it's not a requirement.
How about you do the same with simple mode users and let mvc vets filter them out
I hate charge moves on Vs. series characters. I never use Felicias sand splash or Frank West's round house. Game moves at such a fast pace, I dont see how some people manage to pull it off. Unless its to spam...
Defensive characters use charge moves very easily even in a fast paced game like MvC3. I was suprised how easily Gamma Wave can be used in MvC3 as oppose to MvC2's qcf. It did take a minute to get use to it, you just have to be thinking ahead.
Also the infinite againts Assist is awesome. I found that out by accident before even knowing it was discovered. Took out two assist in one shot and his point character could'nt really move cuz his assist were on lock down.
I'm waiting to see who is on sf x tekken...it better have karin, alex, urien and ingrid in the game.
