Justin has said what I have been saying this entire time, even before the game came out.
Increase the life
Take out X-factors properties beyond resetting your character
Do it Capcom.
Also decrease damage scaling, and hitstun decay, so hard combos are actually worth it. Then this game could be more sick :)
Don't mistake that for whining though, I am very much enjoying the game still

I disagree. Easier combos being more worthy makes the game more democratic.More acessible to the grand majority of the people.
Hard combos are frustanting and appeal to a small part of a elite fighting game public. The funny thing is that this small part of the public STILL can DOMINATE everyone else even the game being MORE SIMPLE.
I really dislike X-factor 3, that increase is just to strong and last forever. I think they should've left the X-factor damage rate at 1 but only increase the amount of time you have it, that would've balanced that aspect better. My other beef with the game is long OTG stuns like x-23's OTG stun. That thing last forever, granted OTG is part of the game, but I hate the fact that a long OTG will just lead to another long ass combo opportunity for your opponent. So those would be the two things I change to this game if I could, have a default X-factor power increase and only increase time of X-factor and also make a default OTG stun property that ensures player have to have better execution to perform OTG combos.
Lol, what happened, Justin? Thought he ragequit MVC3 after a bad experience with Sentinel?
Anywho, this game is gonna get patched up over time, and I'm sure Capcom isn't gonna pull an Aksys and make you pay for added modes like Survival or Time Trial or (hopefully) Spectator Mode.
Hell, they put Championship Mode in SF4 free of charge.
i hope they dont change a thing its amazing wolvie taskie felecia for the win
@Shareware
Aksys/ArcSys didn't make you pay for extra modes in BB. What are you talking about? A different game?
@#5
Uhh increasing life and decreasing damage scaling would simply just cancel each other out lol and change nothing. But the hit decay on the otherhand would show a noticeable difference.
While im not too keen on level 3 xfactor silly come backs, it does bring alot of ragequitting tendencies which sings a lovely tune to my ear to see people get heated like so. With that said my friends neighbor ended up punching his tv in frustration and sold his copy to my friend the same day he got it(yes the tv still works)
I just hope tournament standards are later played with the damage setting at either low or lowest cause right now the characters with average and below health can be either killed or only a L,M,H,S combo away from dying. I just think even uping it to 2 big combos to kill or nearly kill a slightly above average health character seems more reasonable i understand it its MVC but i just dont think it makes it as competitive for all characters. Also i wouldnt mind having ranked match default settings being low or lowest damage. Over all i think low is about perfect
@17
He did say that, but in the video he said that figuring out characters outside of sent is what keeps him interested. Game is new sanford said he didnt like the playstyle either. People wanted it to be like mvc2, but it is what it is. Im sure after awhile itll blow over and majority of them will be happy like people were when SF4 first came out. Hell im happy we even got an mvc3 and my fav comic book toon, deadpool, was included.
@16
That's what's good about this game, I think. The fact that there's almost always a counter for even seemingly cheap characters.
This game is very nicely balanced, I think, and the fact that it took a page from TVC's playbook is the reason for that. There are flaws, but there are flaws in every game, so its forgivable. I for one am hooked.
Just when I think I've found the best characters for me, even more viable choices pop up!
I'll tell you what the game needs: The ability to CHANGE THE TIME in Player Matches. I played a series of 10 matches with my brother online, and 9 of them were decided by judgment. We keep running out of time. I should be able to modify the time and handicap for Player Matches. (nothing like a good ironman round at 1 star handicap for each)
The online is fun but so lacking at the same time. MvC2 had better features online than this game. There is no excuse.
@7
The game would still be accessible, and still HAVE those easy combos, they just wouldn't be as strong as the combos that people who put the time in to learn do.
@14
they don't cancel each other out, they make longer combos more worth it.
X factor makes this game lame. Take it out. Also, have the option to put time to infinite; in online modes as well. Thos e of you that played the game u know what I'm talking about. The stages are so big that this game favors runaway tactics and projectile characters.
@Bathnasty
Time outs are more common in Vs. Games when you aren't that good. As people get better there will be less time outs.
Well, Justin does have a point. IMO, I also believed Sent takes little to no skills to main at all. I think people will understand why a achievement has, "Deus Ex Machina" in its title. But I have seen some potential characters that could zone the heck out of Sent. Well, I'm really looking forward to what the community sees in Phoenix.
@26
If you get pulled into an X factor combo, it's no one's fault but your own. It's mainly a comeback technique, so you are severely punished if you're careless from being in the lead.
Plus, the Vs. Series has always had more of a focus on projectiles than other fighters. Just because you were beaten by a more skilled player who was better at zoning doesn't mean the game is bad.
This comment section is making me thirsty.
Combos are just as easy to string as they are in mvc2 once you learn the basics so I don't see a problem. They shouldn't remove x-factor but have it as an option both offline and online. They do however need to add tech-roll.
So what exactly happened halfway through the vid?
I mean I thought this was suppose to be a vid of J.Wong demonstrating some of the stuff he discovered about the game and it was during the first half, then it kinda turned into a 1 on 1 interview about his fighting game history and thoughts on how to balance MvC3.
Not that I didn't enjoy it, just wondering why they stopped playing after a few matches...
I disagree that time outs get more frequent in Vs. games as your skill level improves. I think the opposite is true. When you're not that good the speed of these games is overwhelming, and you're going to be losing to every shenanigan just because you didn't know about it. Then you get better and you can actually compete in the gimmick arms race, block everything, stop rushdown by pushblocking, and etc. Right now we're mostly seeing rush rush rush even from the pros for the most part and Justin said he was just getting totally blown up by Sentinel. This is going to change as the game evolves, it is already changing with matches already coming down to the wire.
This was a great vid, Justin explained what he meant that people were reading from his twitter post. It made him mad to get beaten by Sentinel because the character is just too rewarding and easy, but he likes that every character in this game seems viable. That is the best thing anyone could want to hear, IMO.
So this is essentially a preview of Street Fighter vs Tekken. Extended air combos that deal 100% of almost every lifebar...
@THE_GODDAMN_MASTER
No, SFxT has already been announced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKjDir...
And I do hope that there are 100% combos in that game because I don't want people like you nerfing the game to boredom. But looking at the trailer I highly doubt it.
And I am glad some top players are embracing the potential found in new characters. I hope Justin shows people that there is a lot of potential in a lot of the cast, not just Sentinel, Magneto, Storm, Dante, Wesker team variations.
