Tip from Bkpnr579.
There are also a few more "In the Lab" sessions with players Evil Rahsaan and Nelson "Remix" Reyes.

Yeah I feel you man, don't get me wrong I love watching power characters go at it but the game is still new and it would be nice to see some high level play with a variety of characters. From the player's perspective however, I understand why they are sticking with their respective teams: they want to learn the team dynamic in and out in preparation for the tournaments. My only concern is that some low to mid level players follow the imitate before you innovate methodology but only take it as far as "imitate" and usually make no strides to branch out and if MVC3 does in fact catch on big in Japan this might cause problems for our tourney players as they will only have experience fighting certain types of teams and when a well crafted "unorthodox" team comes up to the plate they may not have the experience to fight it. Take MODOK for instance, he plays really good keep away but also has a nice little rush down game which seems to throw people off big time especially once he gets in on a zoning Arthurs or Sentinels. I'm not saying that Japanese players are constantly on the precipice of innovation as many of their players imitate as well, however they have a much larger pool of top players from which to imitate. The game is still an infant and pretty much all the characters in the game are beasts so I hope we see some great teams as the game progresses. I'm still trying to lock down MODOK'S cube trap to power up his Dorito block. Drag Queen MODOK FTW (anyone who has seen his 4th color knows what I'm talking about)
I think it's interesting that Chris is being used though. I completely forgot about him.
Sentinel's X factor damage is ridiculous... i mean, those are almost 0 to death combos -_-.
It's pretty depressing that people are reluctant to learn new characters and rather let their tier whoreish tenancies carry over to the new installment. Its even more saddening that scrubs online are just going to follow suit. I swear all I see is a never ending army of sentinals online its sickening.
I've been tryin to get it done Hulk, Viper and Spencer... I have no bait offense yet though and my setups are not strong yet, and Hulk mains out there? Got tips?
Sentinel is suppose to be strong. If you played mvsc2 and switched over to mvc3 and played sentinel in both you would realize that he plays very differently, IMO he is alot easier to play in this game.
@1 and 2
You can't complain about other people not innovating and selecting electic character choices, because there is no point, sure it's annoying but you can't change it. the best thing you can do is innovate your own playing style and explore the metagame inside the game and dig greatness out of underrated characters like haggar, hsien ko, and modok by using them.
On a side note, I have played 20 ranked matches and mostly have run into ryu, dante, captain america, and deadpool(weird about ryu, he is kinda ass in this game, I guess people don't know yet).
@12
Not sure who you have been playing, but I've seen some beast ass Ryu's. He has crazy juggling potential.
I always encounter teams with at least a Sentinel or a Hulk in it.
I find it kinda interesting that andre said that sanford isnt really into mvc3..i guess honestly what i would like is to hear all of the top players opinions about mvc3 like jwon, marn ect ect and see what they think of this game. Honestly from watching the vids it seems like they are forceing themselves to play the game, and not really enjoying it.
but thats just my opinion, i may be wrong.
Well besides the really bad Ryu, Dante and Deadpool characters i've been running into Turbo users (or super mashers) that is very difficult to fight againts due to their rush down. It puts me at a super defensive position. Jump, hold A turbo, land A Tubron, Jump A turbo, land a Turbo...All till hit confirm into a stupid combo. Luckily my Hulk anti air puts them on notice but they never learn.
Also range quitters galore and it's not even Ranked. Quitting and lag switching. One person lag switch just to get a free Ice storm, really dirty.
@16
I got that impression too, it's kind of sad that they have to force themselves to like this game.
Me I can't get enough of this game, I love the broken choas and shenangians.
I have a feeling we will have a lot of elitests that will talk trash about this game and go on about how mvc2 is so much better, just like people do now with street fighter 4.
Uhhhh..that match wasnt just sentinel you know. Wesker was undresssing people constantly, so was trish.
Sentinel has quite a few bad matchups in this game.
I like how people keep saying that the pros should be different, yet they have such predictable teams themselves.
Familiarity on the battlefield is key to success for them, they are using what they have knowledge of (while learning a new game engine). We'll see all types of teams soon....just be patient. I have to say the SSM combo is dangerous, must be one of the best teams in the game.
The game looks pretty awesome, I want to get it. :D
Though of course this is a title that plays extremely from other fighting games such as Mortal Kombat/Tekken/Street Fighter. Maybe they don't like it because it's so flashy...who knows. I'm sure it'll grow on some people.
Remember, these guys are tournament players....they ain't playing this game to have fun. They don't have a real job...They're trying to make videogames a profession. So with that in mind, sorry if you don't see any VJoe, or Falicia on the screen soon...It's just not happening until some random frame analyst or option select, or infinite combo freak out there posts a new vid on some low tier character can be scrubbed and abused in a match. THEN you might see that character in a real tournament somewhere...
Not to mention, it takes more time to figure out new crap when some of the old crap STILL works from MVC2..Its a no brainer for these tournament junkies. That's what keeps them ahead of the class compared to the fan based players out there, who pick characters based on the best looking or hottest or coolest or favorite from a comic book, video game or cartoon. I know....It sucks, live with it...or be FREE!
America has nothing to fear from Japanese players in this game. If you recall in Evo 2009 Japan sent about a dozen so called experts to compete in MVC2 and they were absolutely crushed by noobs. I doubt you will see any Japanese get far in this game.
Boring teams. I know it's the first day, but I wish some of these guys (especially the ones who have already had it for a week) would try out some new blood and throw in a MODOK or Hsien-Ko or something.
