The DLC characters, Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath, in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will set you back $5 or 400 MS points each on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, respectively. These fighters will be made available on March 15, 2011.We did not intentionally delay the DLC characters as we know how badly our fans want to play them. This was an unfortunate technical issue and we apologize for them not being available today.
Capcom also reiterated the pricing structure for the new DLC costume pack shown earlier and said that the Shadow Mode DLC doesn't have a price point set yet.

Wait, is it $5 for the 2 (and each is used for the PS3/360) or $5 for 1 of them (and each is used $5 each character)
nvm, checked on the facebook page. The two characters add up to $10...
And I thought the TF2 MANNconomy was bad, at least hats in TF2 don't give you entire new classes or something >_>
@5 Folks at Capcom say a lot of things.
In fact, I bet it was complete bullpoo that ordering MVC3 from the Capcom Store was ever going to be release-day delivery. My copy's apparently been in transit from Fisher, IN since 5:13 on Valentine's Day...
*sobs silently*
Be honest, who's stupid enough to watch all these spoiler vids catalyst has been posting?
I mean, dude, how about you play the game on your own to see endings and stuff? Save SOMETHING as a surprise. Or maybe that's just me but I think people that watch this without getting the game are going to have less and less to look forward to when they get it.
It's gonna lead to disappointment. I say don't do it but your choice is your own.
I know the game is out but I didn't get mine yet. AND I PREORDERED! That free shipping is really biting me in the ass!
Off topic, I just played around with MODOK in training mode and he seems to have a lot of freaking potential.
Fun little corner combo I discovered was l, m, h, fly up, h, launcher, l, m, launcher, hjump, l, m, hyper psionic blaster
Neat. And I love this game. Now excuse me while I go play it for the rest of my life. :)

I believe this is relevant.
It's $5 each, $10 total. Why are people having so much trouble with this?
@19 from the Official MvC3 Facebook page
"Jill and Shuma-Gorath will still be available for purchase on March 15, 2011 for the people who did not buy the Special Edition. Each character will cost $5 or 400 Microsoft points."

@8:
Mine is also in Fishers, IN. Same story...
This is now the SECOND time that DigitalRivers has royally fubar'd me on a new release. This first being SF4:CE. Best Buy, Target... everyone offers an incentive these days for buying/pre-ordering new releases from them. I cannot say that doing so from DR has net me anything rewarding other than a lousy T-shirt I will never wear.
What kind of technical issue could there possibly be considering the Jill and Shuma data is already on the disc?
Why not just let someone shared their SE disc with the community for the DLC characters?
So the game in Oz is costing me around $90.
$5 per costume pack for 6 characters. 36 characters in total (not inc DLC) so $30 in total plus $10 for Jill and Shuma then probably another 10-20 bucks for more DLC then probably a few more dollars for Shadow mode.
Capcom should rename itself Activision
And we who bought the SE are the fools huh? Bet you all who called it a dumb purchase wish you had bought it now... I'm personally happy they made them $5 each, it makes the SE more worth it. I'll enjoy getting both Jill and Shuma for free :)
@23 Damn! Were you expecting release-day on your SF4:CE, too?
I hate to say it, but I probably won't be able to fit the shirt, either. Maybe I'll cut it out and make a neat patch out of it. I probably should've ordered from Amazon; they're always ALWAYS spot-on for release-day delivery (my Tactics Ogre came in the mail today, which was also released today... hardly a consolation for me). Honestly, I wouldn't be so salty about this if Svensson hadn't opened his cavernous maw and given me false hope.
Idk why people preorder online anyway, just go preorder it at Gamestop, I'm pretty there's one nearby. I did, and I've got my copy already. It's a lot less troublesome than online purchasing.
Shoulda bought the SE like a lot of us did, nuff said.
$5 is highway robbery....I bet they will have 10 DLC characters and most will be popular ones they conveniently didnt add to the game in the first place (Mega Man, Cable, Cap Commando, Venom, Gambit, War Machine, Frank West, Cyclops, etc.)
so $60 wasn't enough huh...I am amazed at how CAPCOM treats its fans as "Cash Cows". Clearly they are losing the focus and real meaning of gaming..yes it's a business but at least make the money fair ans square instead of robbing the fans...We are FANS we will always be FANS and will always support. Somehow I fear that companies nowadays have lost the meaning of the term "loyal fan", we are nothing but an open wallet in their eyes. Seriously $5 for a new character...seriously!!! not even .99c, better yet show that you appreciate all the support by give them away for free. I just cant understand the idea of paying for additional CHARACTERS.WOAW!!!! What's next, since the fans took the bait, you going to start selling color too (I wouldnt be surprised). The sad thing about greedy companies like that is that enough will never be enough
And LOL at the people who think they got a "deal" with the SE...you pre-paid for the characters that are so so....the comic and marvel online are basically advertisements to get you to buy things from them.
@42 Thank you!!! Sad part is ppl dont realize that they are being robbed.
And soon there'll be Super Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Marvel vs Capcom 3: Hyper Tournament Edition.
Just buy it used if you wanna get it, thats what Im going to do if I even want it.
Lol at people bragging they got the SE edition. People won't be paying any less for the characters than people payed for the collectors edition. All the extra stuff you get is nice and is an excellent deal, but loads of gamers clearly couldn't care less about it if they didn't spend the extra $10, so they aren't missing out.
I paid the extra $10 too, but bragging about makes it seem like you're justifying why you did xDD To me, I just paid for the Jill and Shuma in advance and got some goodies that I'll get too when I'm NOT playing the game or doing college assignments. In other words, something to admire when I have the time ;) Not trying to take away thunder, just find it so funny ^_^
you guys complain TOO damn much! blazblue charged 7 bucks per their new characters, and theres 2 so far for a total of 3!. why are you guys saying that a COMPANY that is in the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY to MAKE MONEY is charging too much?! some mind sets are really backwards. thats just like saying you don't want them to make a profit as a company to make your DARKSTALKERS and other sequels you want.... GHEESH!!! I'm GLAD i got my collectors addition. I paid for the chars up front... and any other char that comes I'll get too... CAUSE I SUPPORT CAPCOM!
Already announcing DLC for YET ANOTHER incomplete game... game companies these days...
Just because blazblue charged $7 bucks doesnt mean its ok for capcom to charge 2 dollars cheaper for theres. What happen to those days of a bunch of unlockables and value from the start. People these days are so used to paying for the dlc's and all that they forgot how games were back then. And dont tell me if i dont like the don't buy cuz hell no sh*t im not buying this and im here to state my opinion.
@52 Yes but BB:CS wasn't on the top end scale of retail pricing. I think it was 45$ vs. 60$ for MvC3. Also, comparing Capcom to Aksys isn't really fair IMO.
I wouldn't mind paying for DLC characters or new costumes. But why sell something small as shadow mode? it's just a small feature that lets you fight a CPU that copys the creators play style. It doesn't seem to fit as a priced DLC. Maybe if they bundled it with some other small features then I can see it as priced.
Whaaa whaaa whaa.
Back in the 90s, we had to shell out 60 bucks for a new rendition of a game (most of which included 2 new characters) yet all of you bitch about shelling out 10 for 2 characters that you DON'T have to buy. Not to mention this means they will be supporting this game for quite some time.
People confuse me so much.
Haha! And I just saw that they'll be charging for Shadow Mode! Wow... Capcom hit a new low.
Im suprised that there was no "technical" issue with the sound and they will offer it for $5 as DLC.....
I'm glad I got the SE but damn Capcom you know how to milk every last drop...If I didn't get the SE I wouldn't be paying that much for those characters.
On top of this shadow mode is going to paid DLC? I'll surely pass! Capcom - You're getting greedy!I'm not one to say these kinds of things but Capcom I hope sales of your shadow mode dlc fail miserably so you can recognize how greedy you're getting.
$5 each is a rip, but not if I split it with my friends, and share on PSN. This really sucks though, and with these prices, might make DLC characters illegal at tourneys...
Ya'll act like $5 is a lot of money $5 ain't s*** get your broke behind a job.
If you have to buy a card $20 ain't nothing either.
People are forgetting that if you are even semi serious about this game you ARE going to buy these characters. And second this is going to make this game harder to have tournaments. Instead of popping in a disc with a borrowed xbox now people are going to have to bring specific xboxs with dlc. Now tournaments like EVO are going to have to get "home grown" ps3/xboxs instead of easily getting lender/borrowed/rented ones. Not saying its gonna change much but it just makes an inconvenience that doesn't need to be there.
so its $5? For both?..........well thats an easier pill to swallow than $5.
I take it when they show up on the US store on the Tuesday they should should appear on the UK one the next day at about £3.
than $10! 10! now if you'll excuse me I'm off to slap myself about ^^"
5 bucks a piece? Not bad! Not bad at all! Much cheaper they they usually cost in other games *COUGHBLAZBLUCOUGH*
actually why does no one complain about them being 7.99 a pop but are about MVC3 characters being 5 bucks a pop? Logic!? WUT DAT!!!? It's even funnier when you consider a 3d model takes longer to make and animate. Can't skip frames like with 2D otherwise it will look bad(DOA TRIES to mask their horrible animation by making it go real fast but I notice it)
also people take of the nostalgia goggles for one minute. I have something to tell you. Back in the 90s when I was a young lad new games would only offer you 2 new fighters most of the time maybe a new mode(if you where lucky) and guess what? WE WHERE HAPPY!! You know WHY I like this only being 5 bucks. Because I don't have to drop 60 to play with two new fighters. If you have not taken off your nostalgia goggles you are probably raaaaaaaaging right now.
#76 yeah because 60 bucks for a "new" game that added 2 new fighters is FAR better :>
Are people complaining about $5 per character? Really? you could probably get that outta your couch cushions. As for me, I'll probably get any DLC fighters Capcom releases. Hopefully Bison and Talbain. Though I'd be hard pressed to care enough about Phoenix Wright unless Cap really surprises me...
Yeah, I was afraid that it would be Blaz prices or higher. I'm glad they aren't bundled either, at least capcom wont force u to buy more than what u want like they do with costumes. It is a bit weird that for the same price u can either get 1 character or 6 skins but whatever, its completely optional and at least the alts are better than SF4's.
Hmmm I already have the Special Edition but it is at least nice that they let you buy them individually. So if you don't care to play a specific character you don't have to pretty freakin awsome. 5 bucks ain't bad either for a whole new character unlike a certain game that charges you 15 dollars for 4 new maps *cough black ops cough*
The only thing I find annoying about all of this is multiple console tournaments, and or visiting a friends house. This means everyone has to be on board with the DLC to get a complete game. And that is rather frustrating. I don't really care about the costs. Hell I shelled out the $3 a character for Castlevania:HOD, and Valkenheim and Makoto.
I would rather the DLC was for SSFIV. Still more bitter about the additions.
After buying all the alternate outfits in (S)SF4, I gotta say I'm burned out on DLC costumes. Yes they look good, but those DLC characters cost more. Sorry Capcom, I'm not buyin the alternates. Its either characters or costumes. I chose characters. Of course, assuming more characters are on the way. Either way, I'm done with alternate outfits.
It they continue developing these overtime,I'm fine with it even it I decide to get a small few. But I do recall when commenting on the alt colors, they said that having actual alt costumes would further delay the game's release. But once released they seem to have them ready, well some at least.
I guess there is a gap between when a game has to be complete to where the game is actually sold. I mean, how else to people get games a week or a month early. Didn't people get banned for playing halo 2 months before release.
"Yeah, strider is popular and his demand was very high. But he didn't fit our concept... our concept of including guys that people might actually care about".
Now I got nothing against the roster (except some a small few), but it just feels that the whole de-confirming announcements were just to see fan reaction and cash in on it. "Hey guess what, no Megaman. Really, u want him that much? Pay up". They wont even release a new Darkstalkers unless their guaranteed it'll sell big.
so why exactly are the fans held responsible for this so called technical issue that capcom had which lead to these 2 characters being available at the time the game shipped? if anything, these 2 should be on the house because as most of you know, as well as i always knew from the beginning is that this was capcom's intention from the very beginning. it should at least be packs of chars for 500, i.e. venom, cable, cyclops = 500 or jin, strider, cammy. capcom has truly lost me on this one, it's hard for me to support this decision making..if they claim this is for the fans service, i don't see how this shows it capcom. charging for alt costumes, i can understand..but chars that should of been in the game in the first place(everyone from mvc2 practically) and believe me..they had the time to implement them, esp chars like venom and gambit, man.,.that's my only complaint about the game is the roster is so lame compared to mvc2, otherwise it would of been a perfect 10..better than ssf4
I like how they admit that it was a technical issue on their part that they didn't get these characters out on time and then just say, but hey! We'll charge you more for them later! :)
So $10 total for both? Looks like it was a good decision to get the SE.
