A bit of background information and an overview of both Phoenix and Chun-Li's play styles in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was written up by Sumoslamman. This is the second to last Showdown Spotlight on Marvel.com, the final one will be up soon. Here's a snip.
Phoenix's Play Style: DO NOT GET HIT! Period. Phoenix has the lowest health in the game and nearly any enemy hyper combo is enough to take her out. However, she hits like a monster, her fireballs hunt you down from a screen away, and she has traps to keep you out of her face. Her instant teleports create some mean pressure traps when combined with her Telekinetic Shot and her Phoenix Rage hyper is easy to combo into and does great damage. If she does get caught on the defensive her 8-way air dash, that teleport we talked about earlier, and her flight capabilities will get her out of trouble. And remember: Don’t get hit!
Chun-Li's Play Style: Chun-Li can’t take a hit but she can dish them out in droves. Her triangle jump and triple jumps give her tons of aerial mobility and her dash is so fast it’s difficult to react to. She has some great ground pressure strings that combo into her Hoyokusen hyper which can be followed up by some mean air combos. Also her Hyakuretsukyaku is an amazing assist, locking down enemies so her teammates can cross up and start doing some damage. If you like fast, hard hitting characters, Chun-Li’s the girl for you.

Both characters are amazing and show that health may be lacking but the hits be packing. Who will win not sure. The strongest woman of Capcom or the strongest woman of Marvel? They might just go out and buy some sweats and talk about boys in the end, lol.
(Chun Li takes too much effort to win, but unless the Phoenix player is on point, gonna be a short match.)
After playing MvC3 like all weekend i've played phoenix ALOT. She does have low health yes. But she is not that bad. Her damage makes up for it big time, and if you can build a solid team around her that isnt to meter dependent because they do damage shes pretty easy to play you just gotta stay smart. id say Phoenix. I had a guy trying to try jump me all day and i just did floor traps ftw with phoenix. He had no way in.
Chun seems great but i will have to turn her "DUH DEH DAH DUH DUH!" english voice off lmao.
Phoenix = Don't get hit.
Dark Phoenix = Opponent must make sure NOT to get hit.
lol @ 13 yupp and a way to beat phoenix is to force her ass out and ko her b4 she has 5 bars. I dont know what that move is called but it's a move where they knock your character out the screen and someone else is force to come in. that will be a life saver.
if not just run away until time runs out and dont ko phoenix lol
If Chun Li gets inside, Pheonix is done. She's glad she is gdlk in the Marvel Universe but here, she's paper.
Chun Li is the strongest woman in the world.
#6 Nah, a player can harrass their opponent with her speedy dash in kick into combo, Kick Hyper, cancel into air combo, tag combo, tag combo and she's done.
