Pretty good man. Hey, I also wrote an article on Nintendo X Capcom!
If nintendo vs capcom can somehow mean naruto vs capcom then it's all good.
(Dudley's car was pretty lol. Smash is all about taking the most ridiculous parts of characters, though - maybe add some puzzle fighter/gem fighter stuff?)
I've thought about this a lot from being both a competitive SF and Smash player, so I'd say this is pretty awesome.
Nintendo x Capcom probably won't happen but it's a good possibility if they do another smash brothers Ryu will definantly make the spot as a guest character.I can see that happening realistically than an actual collaboration.
SSB is a very fun game and I feel sorry for the people who turn there noses at it, they don't know wha they are missing. Pays to be open minded. Very fun and challenging game.
Heh, I've already done these all in my head while I brainstorm nothing better. Of course, i've been too lazy to put it on paper but since someone else started it I guess I should contribute eventually. The movelists and controls are nearly the exact same I imagined them for certain characters so nice coincidence. Good Stuff!
I chuckled at 'But Ryu doesn't lose his Gi' XD
@5
You're terrible, so who gives a flying f*ck?
@14 and @5
Saying Smash Bros is terribad is about as shallow and scrubby as saying crossups in SF are a cheap game mechanic. Go buy some reflexes at a 7-eleven store and learn to play a fast purely offensive game like Melee. But you probably won't cuz its multiplayer is offline only and you'll have to talk sh*t in front of actual real people in order to play/practice.
Anyway, This guy's details behind these character's moves are scarily close to what mine were when I brainstormed them for fun a while back...right down to Ken's rising mvc2 Tatsu for his down special move. If it's easy to do and I have time, is there any way I can contribute or get a layout/sprites just llke Renynoise?
Awesome. I don't know why people say Ryu cannot fit in Smash Bros (or even Mario in a VS game), although admittedly, in the case of Ryu, it could possibly seem kind of bland to some unless they can fit in something a little off-the-wall to keep with the non-serious mood of Smash. Dudley's Car is the perfect example!
@kingofthesharks
LOL!!!
I couldn't have said it better myself. For those that can't get pass the way the game looks...I'm truly sorry. You are missing out on some GREAT, COMPETITIVE ACTION!!!
I play BOTH Street Fighter and Smash Bros.!!! They are BOTH GREAT GAMES with different play styles. It's just AWESOME to know that I'm actually good enough to beat the living CRAP out of 3 other people on screen, at the SAME TIME and still have energy for the next 200 or so matches because Smash is SOOO F'N GREAT!!!
**(^_^)**
@18
"dumbed-down" fighting standards...hmmmm well unless you play a great viper/gen in ssf4 or are a beast at 3S/MvC2, I can't really say i'd listen to you and ur aimless insults. Idk what people you've played smash (melee) with, but if y'all play like crap i cant blame you for not finding the excitement many other open-mined people have found.
If you want Smash SF support the iPhone version. It's exactly what you did here but better implemented and, best of all, REAL. > You can play it right now!
That's fine 21 you probably couldn't play a real fighting game to save your life. And no I don't main Gen or Viper but I'm damn good with the mains and subs I do play with.
If Smash is a fighting game then so is Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 (which I actually like) they share enough similarities right?
@ 22 I'm sorry just because high level play looks Super Coolz doesn't mean the game isn't shallow. See early and late MK games for an example of this.
@25
of course i can play real fighting games, they're all "real", but you probably meant "traditional". Been playing fighters since I was a kid, traditional and non
Nobody ever said Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 wasn't a fighting game, it obviously is, just not rooted in arcades. But so what? just cause a doesnt control or play like Tekken/virtua fighter/Soulcalibur doesn't mean it can't be a fighting game or even a good game period. And I'm not gonna talk down on it cuz I never played it, much less enough to know how fun and/or deep it is. Over half the haters talk down on games they never played or never put enough time into playing.
So just cuz a 2D game like Smash doesn't control or play like precious ole SF/KoF/MvC doesn't mean its not a good fighter. Just cuz each character has less # of moves doesnt mean its shallow. The game revolves around spacing and the free use of vertical/horizontal mobility coupled with dodging instead of turtling/blocking. And real-time combos where knocking opponents in strategic places is at least as important as damage.
A higher quantity of moves like in SF would just get in the way of the fundamentals. If one doesn't make smart use of Melee tactics and thinks like an SF player then of course you'll call it shallow. They're simply different types of fighters in the same way Quake and Gears of War are different but still shooters.
@26
Will someone PLEASE listen to this person?!!
He knows EXACTLY what he's talking about. Melee(and Brawl)are both very GREAT GAMES!!! They're different too. I'm sure if some of you would actually spend time with the Smash Bros. series and actually LEARN the game mechanics, you'd see what we're talking about.
Smash Bros. almost has zero limitations unlike other fighters, which is only ONE of the reasons Smash Bros. is SO SPECIAL and AWESOME!!
Like I said before, I play all types of fighters, but SUPER SMASH BROS. stands out because it's DIFFERENT!!! I honestly get tired of these fighters having basically the same tactics to winning a match. Smash Bros. throws these repetitive tactics out the window, and FORCES you to use NEW types of gameplay!!! It FORCES you to actually use your battle instincts in the middle of a hectic battle where the slightest miscalculation will result in your demise!!! NO LIFE BARS!!! IT'S SURVIVAL!!!! IT'S AWESOME!!!
@25
"of course i can play real fighting games, they're all "real", but you probably meant "traditional". Been playing fighters since I was a kid, traditional and non"
lol semantics.
"Nobody ever said Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 wasn't a fighting game, it obviously is, just not rooted in arcades. Didn't say it had to be in arcades or play like a particular game to be considered a fighter. I just said it's pretty shallow and that to include SF the devs would be better off using Super Gem Fighter. SSBM, SSBB are platformers don't know how many times I have to say this.
"So just cuz a 2D game like Smash doesn't control or play like precious ole SF/KoF/MvC doesn't mean its not a good fighter. Just cuz each character has less # of moves doesnt mean its shallow. lol where are you getting this, most people despise KoF because very little about the games are different from year to year. Aside from MvC 1 the series is garbage and many people readily admit this when talking about the broken MAG,Storm, Sent squad. The number of moves doesn't determine a fighting genre, the way it's played does. Poster #26 just said he's tired of fighting games that rely on the same strategy...I'm sorry but if Smash is supposed to be some great non traditional fighter than why is it suddenly more exciting to play. You guys can't have it both ways.
"A higher quantity of moves like in SF would just get in the way of the fundamentals. The Super Gem Fighter engine would work wonderfully. It's already been implemented and no one has a plethora of moves that would make the Smash side feel it needs to be tweaked.
@27 sounds like you need to drop fighting games altogether because there's nothing particularly wrong with this gen's fighters, especially the 2D ones.
Zero limitations? Really now? Comeon son don't have me take you to task on that one. Anything that you believe is innovative and can't possibly be match in Smash post a vid and I'll do the same with any fighter out there.
I said ALMOST zero limitations by the way. (^_^)
Traditional 2D fighters usually ALL have the same goal...have the life bar reach ZERO and you win.
Smash has NO LIFE BARS. Do you understand where I'm coming from? It's not about "Doing just enough to get the life to ZERO and I WIN" in Smash, you MUST possess the skills to react, damage your opponent, trick your opponent, out maneuver, and totally ELIMINATE THEM...and you MUST possess the skill to do this CONSTANTLY!!! There's no waiting game, no turtling, no fire ball spamming(because in Smash, that will get you TOTALLY owned), and no "Keep your distance"(because in order to win in Smash, your close combat skills MUST be superb!!!)It's a game of survival that only ends when someone's COMPLETELY out matched.
How often have you played Smash Bros.? When was the last time you played it? How long did you play it?
Once again, you're not understanding me. I never said this generations fighters had problems. I'm just saying they get old after a while, and Smash Bros. is a GREAT way to break away from them because it offers a totally different style of play that's actually REALLY GREAT!! (^_^)
I'm not the type of person to be stuck on one type of fighting genre. I like 2D, 3D, whatever "D", and Smash because it's truly special. In Smash, you can do as much damage to an opponent as you like, but if you don't possess the skill to eliminate your them, whether they're skilled or not, it all means nothing. In Smash, it's easy to tell who's REALLY GOOD and REALLY AWFUL!!! LOL!
Smash is just an overall GREAT experience even when fighting isn't even involved. Smash can be played at many levels of play because there's so many options of approaching a fight. Yeah, the characters in Smash don't have as many moves, but don't you think that kind of a complement to the players that are actually GOOD in the Smash series? Think about it. They all have the character of their choice going up against others of equal skill, and they make these few moves work in so many ways.(I can brag about that. I'm actually really good) IT'S CRAZY!!! LOL!
Ok that's your opinion but fighting games are still fresh and fun hence MvC3. If you're not having fun in that game something's wrong. So because you can't turtle or zone in Smash that somehow makes it better and more fun for you and that's ok but there's nothing those games offer up that makes me say WOW new and exciting.
Last time I played any Smash game was 06.
Oh, believe me when I say MvC3 is undoubtedly fun to play.LOL!
You're mixing up my words up. I'm sorry for not being clear. LOL! I said "no turtling or waiting game". I have no problem with zoning. Zoning is actually in the Smash series in some form. (^_^)
I didn't say fighting games weren't fun. Smash is a fighting game and that's still fun to this day. I was trying to say Street Fighter type games tend to get old after a while because they are so much alike, but Smash is just different.
What made you stop playing Smash?
Oh ok I get you. I've stop playing Smash for the simple reason that alot of fighting games, well games in general regardless of genre are more fun and interesting to me. Those type of games being pigeonhold to one console generally doesn't help either.
