Red Rapper is the same guy behind the EVO 2010 SSF4 song which got some high praise in the community. You can check that older clip out by hitting the jump.
Tip from TheMonkeyMonster.
Was anybody else waiting for Justin Beiber to come in the middle like that Kanye song that took this sample?
yea you go boy, rapping about a video game will definitely earn you some street cred.
I really don't want to be a hater but this guy from a musical standpoint is horrible. Just because you make a fighting doesn't mean we should eat it up. The references are way too forced and the sound levels are just intolerable.
How dare he destroy such a classic song of my fav group with lyrics of a fighting game
Please! no more rap about SF
@12
That was my problem.
I mean okay
1. Personally, I prefer a more laid back feel to my hip-hop, and less yelling into the mic so loud it drowns out the beat.
2. It's hard to feel like this is cool when he's rapping about beating someone at a fighting game and pretending he's hardcore.
3. I seriously can't watch the videos without feeling embarrassed for him.
Don't wanna be a hater, but... That's how I feel.
Every hater shut the f#ck up!! Sh!t talkers r annoying as f#ck especially internet sh!t talkers. His rhymes were good they made sense and if u play sf they made even more sense. An he real good for an amature cant see any of u b!itches do better but u talk like u can. And to the guy who said street cred for real?? He made a rap about sf so apperantly u cant rap unless ur black hardcore gangster now?? U f#ckin ppl r pathetic u dnt have to be a hardcore gangster to rhyme a song with a beat. And go listen to ur f@gget ass foop fighters u cuhnts
I agree with 18 lol I was just kidding, obviously he wouldn't do this for street cred. He's just rapping about it because he likes the game. But the way he did it was so fcking corny, no one would take him seriously.
It's pretty awesome I dig it. I love Wu-Tang and Street Fighter. Anyone remember that one song from the mix tap for HD remix that had Redman and Oh No? Those were some pretty awesome songs too reminds me a lot of what Red Rapper is doing, mixing SF with Hip Hop.
I'm a big SF fan and an even bigger hip hop fan(golden age era to be specific) but this Street Fighter rapping video was extremely corny(from flow, rhyme scheme, multies, punchline etc, cleary Turbo is the only one who does it remarkable.
Oh yeah I forgot if you have a different view of any particular subject or give constructive criticism you're a "Hater" lol
Well, as I said before I didn't really like this song, however a lot of people are insulting the wrong things.
"He's fat" - You probably have a physical flaw yourself, so we're even. This is a site dedicated to video games, I doubt anyone here has a perfect body. Look in the mirror before you act high and mighty.
"He's tryin' to earn street cred lol what a losar111 one!" -
Obviously he's not trying to earn "street cred" by rapping about a video game, he's trying to get some street-fighter cred. Big difference.
Finally to #28:
Most people here aren't offering constructive criticism, they're simply being jerks.
I agree that musically this is not particularly good, however if you're going to attack a video, attack the video, not the person behind it.
Note: I'm not saying comments like "he looks stupid trying to be all gangsta" are idiotic. I'm saying comments like "zomg what a fatty he's a wannabe gangsta" do nothing but make you look like an imbecile who can only throw around destructive insults while offering nothing themselves.
/wall-o-text end.
The yelling was a minus but other than that the puns where great!
He's plus 80 on block?
That means he could make a sandwich eat it, read a book, practice another routine, and Think about getting a day job all before your muscle memory tells you to counter react, or blink for that matter.
ROFL.
@ 30
I felt the same way! I had to turn back to my screen to make sure.
I bet half these people wouldn't be talking trash if they just heard the song without seeing the video. Whether or not you like the song is an opinion. Throwing ad hominem attacks or baseless insults do more to harm your character than his.
(Mad Props - This was clever. Especially the R. Kelly part, took me a sec to realize what Ps he was talking about, heh.
I' dlove it if there were a nonyoutube version(IE actually good quality...)
wow. i heard this at the end of the levelup stream and its hard/gritty like early wu, matching perfectly with the beat imo.
i seriously think a lot of you people cant LISTEN to MUSIC without Watching a VIDEO!
if you complain hes 'yelling' buy the man a better mic and give him a pro studio so he can adjust volume levels, loop his voice, etc.
while he looks lame if music is his passion he gets recognition from people seeing it.
His EVO MVC2 rap is probably his best. it's simple and has very fitting lyrics. no beat, but its just a good tribute to the game.
Red Rapper was ROUGH on the Wu-Tang track!
Man, y'all haters need to find a hobby...
Didn't this guy lose horribly on yesterday's level up tournament?
I just couldn't understand what the hell he was saying and singing in the whole song in the first vid. Rap just isn't my cup of tea.
@Trplem19 #41
"lol wtf is all this rappin about sf? theres things u jus dont rap about...sf being one of them"
If you ever said this to me in person, you would have to hope that I have a friend with me who would be considerate enough to stop me from slapping you extremely hard so that your stupid opinions don't fall on anyone else's ears.
Talkin bowt; "theres certain things u dont rap about?"
If thats the case, then you may as well say "theres certain things u dont TALK about." Rap can cover any subject matter because it is a form of Testimony (among many other things) that documents our experiences through music.
If I was in a car accident, I could rap about it
If my mother passed away, I could rap about it
If I graduated from university, i could rap about it
If I had a son, I could rap about it
If I enjoy Street Fighter, I could damn sure rap about it
I hope for your sake that you are an 11 year old posting in this thread that would (hopefully) eventually learn how juvenile and uneducated your comment was.
However, if you are a grown man - believe me when I say that I will pray that you make nice intelligent friends who are willing to correct you because nobody should be allowed live life with such vehement lack of knowledge.
Good stuff redrapper. BTW some of the biggest names in hip-hop have spit about SF. R.I.P. Biggie small !
@50 I second what this guy is saying and agree. Once upon a time before gangsta rap, rap was about any subject you could think about. That was the whole point about rap. My girl left me? Rap about that, Got some new shoes? Rap about that (What up Run DMC!), Rap about my annoying parents? Rap about that (You have to ask?).
Case in point rap, true rap is what ever you feel like talking about, the actual rap part is just how to get the message through. It's just like songs with singing, same thing but the message is carried in a different abeit traditional way.
Rap is about telling a story, and sadly most rappers today still havent grasp that concept yet. They train these young bloods to think Rap is all about money, sex and weed, even the gangsta rap has taken a back seat. RedRapper ain't no gangsta, he sure as hell don't look like a playa (Aside from video games) but he does something we all love to do and thats play fighters, and he raps about it because that's what he enjoys. That is the art of real rap, that is real hip hop.
Sorry for the long message but intelligent responses actually take some time.
this is pretty good. but he really have to reduce on the voice effects. He's the only person who even raps about ssf4 so give him a little credit. It's good, but use way less voice effects
Rhymes are okay, But it sounds likes hes congested or something. Kinda idiotic saying hes not suppose to rap about sf. Not gonna lie i thought that was eninem. Hes a nobody trying to get recognition. I can respect that. Dont hate on his appearance or judge his rhymes. u trolling ducksauces!!! elfsabeast (FTMFW) 8!@cth$!!!!
Fat boi spitting his lights out....... keep it up, your rhymes will be sick with the right guidance and mentor. Much Props for making it. HATTERS KICK ROCKS, or out due him you WASTES OF SPERMS!!!!! yea i said it....... & WHAT!!!!!!!
hah this dude thinks hes so hard. he lost to some blanka player at the tourney then didnt even shake the guys hand when the blanka player came up to him to shake hands after the game.. then yelled "you fu*king suck" when the dude walked away... thats not hard lol
give props for losing or winning. its a game, move on and learn from past mistakes. adjust, pawn, mix up, grab. thats what sf is, victor combos better and adjusts and learns from opponent faster will most likely take the win. learn defences and open up your offence. i love this game. reminiscent to chess more then checkers. long live sf4!!!!!!! you'll never collect dust, il take care of you. promise.
Its not bad but it's not the best either. I agree that it seems to be a bit forced upon the listeners rather then vibing with it. Iinstead of trying to be so raw and on the "attack" about the topic, he could kick a good rhythmic flow with better references about players and characters. R Kelly thing was funny but it feels quite disconnected to the game.
Also, when it comes to any music (and especially rapping), clarity is king. The more we can hear what your saying, the more effect your punchlines will be. Like his Evo intro track, short, sweet, vicious, and CLEAR. If he polished this for a bit longer, it could be a lot better.
Additionally, I know people are broke, but I think HD vid quality is almost a must these days.
I give him props for doing it though, no one else is.
If anyone is still reading this comment thread, listen to this beat and check out my lyrics, love it, hate it, whatever. Just for fun:

Yo, their are many types of battle in life/ ones which require skills and those that demand the strength of minds/ I prefer to test mine in some SF4/ Ready to rip anybody down to the core, fu*k my online score/ Challenge me and I'll be at your front door/ You're gonna take an ass beating like JWong in '04/
You're not even ready for the mix-ups that I got in store/ My practice sessions is simply your slaughter/ Here, witness this vicious destruction of this green monster/ This Brazilian beast rolling deep, you never knew he was a hip hopper/ Leave you in Raw shock, and so panicked mashin' buttons so much you forgot to block/ Banana bar-ed and theirs still 82 seconds left on the clock/
Round 2 and the pressures on/ Trying to check your homie's tips he sent you on your busted 3G iPhone/ Damn your worse then an online Ryu clone/ With my super grown even your little sister knows you're getting pwned/ All alone in that corner your feelin cramped/ Cuz I got the wisdom of Valle and the defense of F. Champ/ On your console and I'll still unlock an achievement and end with a "U" stamp/ 10 consecutive wins later and reppin' Nor Cal I'll end it with that/
Sound more fun? Haha
Wait what? You can't rap about SF? There are many rappers that have rapped about SF. For example Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco, Mickey Factz, and more. Rap doesn't have limitations. This guy can rap about w/e he wants. Just because the media exaggerates the glamorization and "thug-life" in hiphop, it doesn't mean that hiphop is all about bragging and "thug-life".
As far as the video goes, I think that the song was just okay. I also thought the shouting was pretty annoying. I honestly think there is a lot of room for improvement. But, you can only learn more and get better so keep doing it. I personally think it's cool that he's sharing his other interests with the SF community.
I appreciate all that this guy is doing for street fighter; Sharing his talent and such, but this guy is a prick in real life (personal opinion, so hate on).
Obviously me and my friends were waiting for the arcade machine in front of us with cards on the dash, and some random guy jumps on and swipes without having any decent curtousy. On top of other annoying a$$ things (like stepping on my shoes without saying anything and blatenly blocking my short girlfriend from watching the match), this random guy is on the higher end of my "pisses me off" list.
Then I see this same random fool on the front page of EventHubs. But in all fairness, the raps make me hate him less. Keep rappin RedRapper, but get over yourself.
^^^Wait whoa whoa hold up, when was this? If I knew I'd done that to you dude, I would have apologized on the spot. You sure I was the guy who jumped on?
If so my bad. If I'd known I'd stepped on your shoes(and I'm pretty sure I did apologize for doing that to someone the other day), and was blocking your Girlfriend from viewing, I would've apologized to both of you. My bad sir.
And I acted like an idiot over the stream and got insanely salty, which I apologized to fido(the Blanka player) for. IRL, I'm not the kind of guy who likes to step over other people or act like an ass. So if I did you have my apologies to you and your girlfriend for blocking her.
LOL!!!!! Gay!!!!!
