Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition tourney at Round 1 results, battle log

One of the first Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition tournaments here in the United States took place recently, the results, a stream archive and battle log are available from the event. EG.Justin Wong, Alex Valle, Peter "ComboFiend" Rosas, Marn, fLoE, Mike Ross and several other well known players in the community competed.

It was Level|Up Series' 1-year anniversary, and they streamed the 64-man SSF4 AE tournament for viewers at home.

They nerf Cammy's cannon strike but cheap ass characters like Yun can build meter all day.

@#6 yea I think they did it for the 3rd strike cryers out there who wanted more of a 3rd strike feel.

Kinda lame, because yea he does build meter fast as hell, has nice combos, a nice mixup, about all he doesnt have is good health, its lame.

Oh well, i guess thats why im not makeing the big bucks up in capcom.

Well when you're just letting Yun just stand there and palm over and over again, of course he's gonna build meter quickly. Don't just cry that he's too good. You need to keep the pressure on him.

Anyone can look like a clown when fighting people like Gootecks and Combofiend...these are some of the best players in the world after all. Man...I wish I could get into one of those tournaments. xD

Many characters cannot punish Guile after a blocked Sonic Boom...that's nothing new. Guile has really good recovery on his projectile.

Capcom wanted this game faster paced, most zoning characters got nerfed in favor of rush down and mix-up characters (which is why Ken got buffed, because he's not really a zoning character but Ryu got nerfed). This game is going to be good, the likes of Dudley/Yun/Makoto now have a chance to dominate. THOUGH I do wish Capcom would buff everyone to keep it a level playing field. There's no reason for a particular niche of characters to be so disadvantaged, that is not the epitome of balance in my opinion.

Yea i guess your right about the sonicboom thing, I guess i just feel for abel with him getting so much nerfed.

I do wish capcom wouldnt nerf and just buff where needed. I honestly dont think SSF4 was so broken that so many nerfs needed to be put into play, but I guess your right, it makes it a bit more faster paced and there is more back and forth...still some nerfs are just rediculous.

Tatsu!!! Taunts Jayce, Jayce comes back and pins Tatsu in the corner, Tatsu uses ultra, Jayce counters with his ultra and hits, then Tatsu manages to get a second ultra and wins.

Marn's drunk Dudley was good too.

It was pretty much known from the beginning that the twins would likely be in heavy rotation. Usually when a character is often "hated" on it's because people expect to see them often, i.e. Ken Ryu Guile etc.

@Hitstick - How can you be disappointed in Alex Valle? He made it pretty damn far using Guy...he had to really earn most of those victories, his fights were badass even if he wasn't top 8. Props to him for rocking the mid-tier!

Cody has good normals, but people say his slow walk speed makes it hard to apply a proper rush down game with him. Code also has a horrible wake-up game. It's not that Cody is weak, it's that his holes are BIG disadvantages at high level play.
