Today, we're revealing Marvel vs. Capcom 3's Shadow Mode, which you can see in the screenshots above. Shadow Mode is downloadable content that will let you face off against a team of AI opponents modeled after the habits and tendencies of Capcom's development staff and, according to Capcom, famous players from the fighting game scene. The first Shadow Mode pack will include teams and AI from three Capcom staff members, including producer Ryota Niitsuma, associate producer Akihito Kadowaki, and a QA tester. Additionally, the first pack is scheduled for release in March with more packs becoming available for download at a later date. If you ever wanted to say you beat the producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at his own game, this is your best shot.
What do you think about this new mode? Is it something you're going to try out or just avoid? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.

Off-topic, but there's a brill Guy player tearing it up on SRK livestream right now.
Interesting..... although im hoping you can choose between normal AI and the developers AI, id get bored facing Ryota Niitsuma over and over again, but its an interesting twist :)
It's something like Ghost Mode in Tekken 5 DR and Tekken 6. Interesting...
EPIC! Ten bucks the last pack is against Seth Killian!
This sounds really cool. Interesting to see a new take on AI battles.
Why not also add a Vs. CPU mode along with this?
just saying.

sound awesome. lol but what would happen if JWong played against Shadow AI of himself? O.0 ehh Probably wont happen until 2012 anyway so what am I worried about!!!
(So is this a 'pay for' DLC? Not sure if I'm interested...may be good for those folks who wait in line to fight Daigo at events, etc. or aspiring tourney peeps - watching their replays would be very attractive though.)
WHY hasn't capcom put up hsien-ko and sentinel themes yet?
thank u atleast there will maybe be ai that actally plays a characters strong points instead of extreme exicution. which is good but most cpu's never do what people would be doing so thanks for that
Well at least everyones attitude is positive, I thought everyone was gonna throw crap at it.
I like the idea, I think we can all agree it's not something that will turn Pro and it's a pretty cool pack. Im hoping the AI is actually really powerful enought to present a challange.
And Achievments, give me moar achievments.
I was playing TvC and decided to up the difficulty (I don't like TvC online). Man.....a world of difference. CPU did a full Combo into Baroque, into a tag team exchange into a Hyper, my mouth just dropped at the accuracy the sucker had.
If MvC3 AI is just as tough or tougher, it will be really cool to see folks likr Desk try to beat it and get the highest score on hard.
Not sure I'd use that. I don't push myself with these games. Nice feature for the hardcore to test their might with though! >Karate chops through a Ruby... Oh wait, wrong game...<
Is it free DLC? Or do you have to pay for the chance to lose to the people who made the game and know it inside out? XD
Really unique idea. I'll buy it, but I'll buy every MvC3 DLC that gets released as long as the price is right. I think it'll get boring quick though. I assume you'll only be able to use their AI setting against their preset team. I picture myself beating each of the 3 teams (players) 3-5 times and no longer having any purpose to want to use this mode. Again, though I'll buy it for the right price.
To everyone who runs Eventhubs I'm sorry but I'm going to have file a suit against your site because every time I check it you guys constantly deliver awesome news, so much so that my awesome fuse may have shorted out and other things are now comparatively not as awesome anymore as a result therefore I request you guys please keep the awesome coming less my awesome fuse may completely burnout, also my pants exploded while reading this, gonna need those replaced. But seriously this is awesome news I can't wait. If only Feb 15 would stop taking its sweet ass time already with its stopping for coffee breaks and long walks on long beaches and what not.
This is stupid. If Capcom has time to waste on dumb ideas like this, they should instead put their time into fixing spectator mode.
Stupid game, one button kick arial rave for everyone, when been performed every character looks the same, too much effects ruin the action, you can't see the action clearly. I would pass, waiting for cvs3. Now that is descent. Crippled capcom characters viewtfull joe and arthur, what!
I KNOW, RIGHT #58? WHAT KIND OF SCAM ARTISTS DO THEY THINK THEY ARE? TRYING TO ADD SOMETHING NEW AND INNOVATIVE TO THE GAME THAT COULD POSSIBLY HELP YOU TRAIN! THEY SHOULD USE ALL THEIR RESOURCES FOCUSING ON STUFF THEY'RE ALREADY DOING?!
Seriously, they said they were going to add Spectator mode. This Ghost mode doesn't come out until MARCH and you're complaining. We'll most likely have spectator mode before this comes out, so why do you care? They're just trying to spice things up by adding new modes they never put in before, I don't see how that's bad in any way. They can do a lot with this game, and I'm sure they will.
I just want to know if this is FREE DLC or do I have to pay for it? Like the shuma and jill DLC pack just curious?????
it'd be really cool if the AI could mimic your own play style.. then you could fight against yourself and find holes in your own game? idk.. i dont know if that would even be possible :\
At #63 I don't agree but I respect your opinion on the matter, as for the CVS3 you'll be waiting a loooooooong time before that sees the light of day, not saying it wouldn't be a good idea but the game doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being green lit until the next Darkstalkers, Tekken x SF, MVC3 AE (we know its coming) are released.
@ 64
You're one of those people that put too much fate in Capcom. Capcom has made decisions to STEAL money away from their fans over and over again and idiots still just hand Capcom their wallets.
You think we're gonna get spectator mode within a month, I don't think we will. And if I'm wrong I'll be very happy.
It took Capcom one whole year and a brand new game to put spectator mode in SSFIV from Vanilla to Super. I may like their games, but I don't trust Crapcom. They have a habit of milking their fans.
I wish they would just tell us if its FREE or not -_-
If you ever wanted to say you beat the producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at his own game, this is your best shot. GTFO with this B.S.
How about actually playing against then online?! That way you can really test your Skills.
Any mention if this is free or not? I wouldn't mind either way personally, if it is not free i won't buy it cause i won't really use it that often. If it is free i will of course download it and use it on occasion :-) And no, i won't complain if they charge for it. It is Capcom's right to sell DLC like every other company is doing
If you have to pay for this I'm not interested. Actually I don't care for this at all even if it was free but maybe that is just me.
@74 Really? I just wanted to know if it's free or not. It's either YES or NO. Don't reply to my comment if you don't know cause your wasting my time.
I think its a great idea, it really adds a new level of difficulty to the game and possible make it feel more human-like. SSF4 would benefit hugely from an idea like this, the AI on the hardest difficult just doesnt feel very difficult, competitive or even realistic, not to mention there are flaws in the AI. On the hardest difficulty the computer can punish almost every jump in if they have a DP, they almost always punish any links that you drop alot of the time with an ultra, if you play ken on the hardest difficulty he with DP you when you try to neutral jump, when you try to jump backwards, when you try to jump forwards and when you use a poke and he will hit you 9/10 times, which is incredibly unrealistic. Yet at the same time the AI is almost guaranteed to get hit if you do a wake-up ultra.
Theres my rant, Just so you know I love the idea and I would actually pay for it aslong as its not stupidly expensive. Maybe 100-150MSP for each pack would sound fair
@#63 cvs3 is a long ways off from the looks of things we might see sf5 before that lol but cvs is cool though
Man, if they get top players like J. Wong etc in on this, this could be pretty cool.
I wonder how well this matches their actual playstyles, though? Sure, it won't be completely like fighting the real thing, but if they can duplicate their footsies and combos, it could be worthwhile.
Cool.
