A Dormammu and Morrigan overview is the latest write up to be posted on Marvel.com by Sumoslamman. This goes over the powers of both fighters while also offering an overview of their history.Dormammu's Play Style: Dormammu takes a ton of damage, so you’re going to want to keep him out of direct melee scuffles. Dark Hole and Purification help to keep opponents from closing the distance, and once you’ve powered up his Dark Spell specials (Destruction and Creation), you can unleash an unholy onslaught of hellfire on your enemies that hits full-screen! Also, Stalking Flare is great to just throw out if you find yourself in a bind because it tracks and does great chip damage. Do not let your enemies get close to the Dread Dormammu!
Morrigan's Play Style: This sultry succubus can fire her Soul Spark to keep enemies locked down while she air dashes in to start her assault. She has a ton of quick normals, but what’s really important is learning how to effectively utilize her Shadow Servant hyper. Shadow Servant puts another Morrigan on the screen behind her enemy that copies all of the original’s attacks. If you hit the enemy once, they’re going to be comboed for HUGE damage. One Morrigan’s enough to deal with, but two? Oh the humanity!
lmfao @ 1 and 2 you dont know sh!t about Dormammu aka Lord of Chaos! He would wreck the entire Darkstalkers cast!
Uh, Demitri is the most Immortal character Capcom has. I'm pretty sure that Demitri would put up a very injuring fight against a VERY good portion of the Marvel Universe, not against, say, like Death, but, Dormammu? I'm pretty sure that only Demitri would give Dormy a hard time. The rest of the cast would be dead very soon. Even though, had Morrigan ever been at full power, we never know.
Thank u number 6 They dont know about the great enigma!! I like demetri alot but he couldnt beat pyron and Dormammu would would wreck his sh!t!
As for the game meh its hard to balance a game if you make them pretty much invincible
The only "person" in this game who can stand up to Dormammu is Shuma Gorath.
("Earthss Sorcerer" makes me sadface :(
Morrigan would win because of her womanly wiles. Also, she's Queen of the Underworld and stuff. Actually, I think these two would have fun with each other. And not in that way.
Game-play wise: That Shadow Servant thingie sounds dangerous - especially since Dormammu is keep-away. Depends on her speed and his prediction ability, it's a game of keep away.)
If people really want to argue story...
Dormammu would easily murder Morrigan and Demitri.
Look at the stats at the right. Fuggin' GOD-TIER!!!
You guys keep calling it a fight Sorry but it wouldnt be a fight it would be an onslaught Dormammu. Gameplay wise I think he still has the edge.
Educate yourselves
@17
Couldn't watch with the "uh...." and other continuous breaks in his sentences. Though I agree Dormmamu would tear Morrigan and new @sshole.
A lotta people seem to forget that Comic book characters like Dormammu will always look the strongest because comics allow for characters to be over powered, the more powerful you make them the easier it is to push them. It makes the comics more interesting to read. They don't think about stuff like "Oh he's gonna be in a video game so don't make him too powerful." It does'nt work that way.
On the other hand you can't make charactes like Morrigan over powering in a game (on purpose) because it would throw it off balance and the game is the only primary function of telling the characters story. Story wise Morrigan IS extreamly powerful, probably the most powerful Darkstalker in Makai when she's at full power at least. Casting her off as some weak fighter is unfair.
Try reading some of the back stories of Capcom Characters before jumping to conclusions that Dormammu just beats everyone, thats not a fun theory fight, and is uninteresting.
I want to add that I am aware "comic wise" that Dormammu is extreamly powerful and it's easy to measure his power when you consider the beings he defeated in other comics. I am by no means saying Morrigan would win, but you also have to consider that he never face the Capcom universe until now. Im just saying give credit where credits due. Im not hate just giving some characters a fair chance, I mean it's Marvel vs. Capcom so....
Shonuff expressed my thoughts exactly. I've actually made that argument in other forums and whatnot. You can't have characters as "god-like" as you can in the marvel comics, because you'd never have a game over. The capcom cast, dante, ammy, morrigan, and any other contender are doomed to be deemed defeat-able when compared to much of the marvel cast.
ABSOLUTELY NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM DORMAMMU, or hell, Phoenix, Wolverine, Hulk, etc. There dominance is already established in there worlds, but in a merger of two totally different worlds, the point is to have fun with matchups, not be all: "BLARG! WTF IS THIS BATTLE EVEN HAPPENING!! X IS -insert godly status- AND WOULD ANNIHILATE Y.
Rooting for your fave is awesome, but no need to call other people out for their opinions. Make your case, and move on...
Does anyone know whether this game takes place in the Marvel world or Capcom World? Or somewhere in between? Because if it's in the Capcom world maybe there is an explanation that could suit both sides. Dormammu is only at full power in his own dark dimension. He's weaker whenever he comes to attack Earth or do something similar. So maybe in the Capcom universe Dormammu is even weaker than usual?
Just something I was thinking about, because in the game's intro he is fighting alongside Doom, Magneto, and Skrull; three guys he would annihilate back home. And in his own realm he is just as powerful if not more so than Galactus.
Although I'm pretty sure he'd still destroy Morrigan in this game's canon (she got KOed by Iron Man in Episode 1...IRON MAN... -_-), I don't think Dormammu is as god-like as his usual self.
One Morrigan isn't enough to deal with. i'll take two
@ChunLi
Actually the anti air is Siloutte Blade not Shadow Servent.
Soul Spark is Soul Fist, no idea how they got that wrong...
And the clone is Astral Vision.
@others: I do not see why Morrigan could not stand to Dor. S-rank succubus so powerful that her power had to be locked away and seperated from herself so she would not only destroy everything around her but also herself. She was even so powerful she caused the Tastunoko tournament just by being angry giving the video game itself life.
Also unlike Dor especially since she is now 100% again, her powers do not become limited when she travels to different dimensions nor does she allow her impatience to play a part in her overall actions. Yes he is beyond powerful but so is she to the point where she was able to take out Pyron single handedly who is also a destroyer of worlds in the Capcom universe.
Morrigan has just about as much running for her as Dor has running for him. Especially since she has a natural ability to control men (not a fan thought) she could manipulate him while in Human form and maybe even as Dor. So again do not count her out just yet, she still has a lot working for her.
@ SeriphAngel
They changed the name to Shadow Servant actually...have you looked at the MvC3 website?

@ChunLi: My apologies, I had no idea they decided to change the name of the move....again. Must be because Lilith is no longer part of the technique. I really do apologize about that.
In universe, Dormmamu can only be harmed by the most powerful magical attacks in the marvel universe (that's galaxy destroying raw magic power) and is pretty much omnipotent. Sorry Darkstalkers fans.
@ChunLi: It really was, she has so much potential and even if she may have similarities to Morrigan, she is a completely different character. She may not be showing up as a character because she could not live outside of Morrigan's body.
Comparing the two universes is plainly retarded. One was created for a competitive fighting game, and the other for kids wanting a superhero/-villain even more powerful than the one in the last issue.
To me Morrigan wins because IMO her design is cooler than burning pumpkin-boy. Also... in this game, I have a feeling the Capcom fanboys are going to wreck the living sh*t out of Marvel fanboys regardless of their 'impressive' lore. Sorry, Marvel fans. :P
