Fans have often wondered if Capcom had any plans to re-release their older Marvel fighting games, and in a recent post from the Unity Boards, Christian Svensson addressed this issue, stating that they'd need to negotiate a new contract with Marvel, but that he'd bring it up in future discussions.Since Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 seems to be booming, would it be too much to ask if Capcom could re-release the past games in the Vs. Series in some kind of format? I'd like to see these titles:
X-Men: Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men Vs. Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter
Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes
— Chris
Svensson: We've gotten this request a number of times in the past. I know there's folks who like to collect entire series or like to know where their current favorites come from. We'd have to work out new contracts with Marvel for these, so that's a hurdle but I'll bring it up in future conversations.
I enjoyed the re-release of Darkstalkers Night Warriors as a PSOne Classic, it really brought back a lot of fond memories. Why was it decided to release Night Warriors as a PSOne classic; Sven or Seth, are you aware of the main issues many fans have with this particular fighter? — Everyone's Friend
Svensson: We are aware that from a gameplay perspective, the PS1 classic that was released is not the most beloved. But it was logical that it be the first release.
I will say that most of the Darkstalkers games have some interesting quirks and different audiences sort of rage with each other of which flavor of Darkstalkers is the best.
And certainly Seth knows much more about these quirks than I do.
I need to know how to unlock specific cards in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3's Heroes and Heralds mode. — Drew
Svensson: Drew, sorry but we aren't telling how to get every card. That's for the community to unravel and the exploration and experimentation is meant to be part of the fun.
I am in South Korea at Cafe ID and they have an original Japanese cabinet of SSF4 AE. We are trying to find out how to update it to version 2012. — Pressence
Svensson: The only place to find out is our Japan arcade group and unfortunately, I'm not sure how someone could get in touch with them.
Is there any specific reason to why the v2012 update for SSF4 AE is coming later to the PC than to consoles? — RoqueDemon
Svensson: The port process of PC doesn't begin until the Xbox 360 code is complete. It's not parallel development and as such, there's a little lag time in the process.
I'll buy them all...most looking forward to CvS2 Online Edition though...make it happen capcom.
People get all passionate and nostalgic about these old games, but then they get released and people play them for what? A week?
Just go with Mame.
ButterKnife, I dont game on my work (and only) computer. I also dont plan on building/buying a computer just to game.
I'm sure not everyone games on their computer as well. Its a good way for money hungry capcom to get their money and its a good way for fans to get a hold of the original games they used to play.
Xmen vs sf to me is the vs game they need to bring out. Cyclops and wolverine, magneto and bison and some more. For its time it was actually the craziest game i played in the arcade while growing up. The line up was really good until i played mvc1. Spider man and mega man playable in the same teams with a classic character such as arthur as an assist was way too fun. Marvel vs sf had the worst roster though.
mvc1 is the best.
But the way capcom is going all the older games will be out of reach for the new crowd. No lax inputs, comeback mechanic,etc so its gonna be a shock to them.
@AnaboliChris You don't have a home computer? MAME runs on really low end computers.
It's funny how people whine about the relative balance in UMVC3, then turn around and clamor for the old Vs. games, not knowing that those games are HORRENDOUSLY balanced.
You thought UMVC3's combos were bad? Try XMvsSF's infinites.

And you'll still suck at them either way. Quit trying to look "hardcore".
xmen vs SF, capcom take my money. MAME is nice to play these on but i think the consoles be a bit more fun. also a proper re-release of SSF2T no balances no changes would be nice.
Lots of PS2 games have been re-released lately in HD (MGS HD, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, God of War, etc) I guess they could try a similar thing with some fighting games.
I'd be totally happy if they re-release CVS2 with online play. That would be AMAZING! Then I'd actually have a chance to fight against other people in one of my all time favorite fighting games.
Hi.
Do not think anyone is waiting to buy the old games hoping for something new. If someone buys them, obviously is for the online system. And if they don´t come up whit the GGPO code, is´t going to be difficult to get the attention of the public.
Btw.. where´s MEGAMAN X?!?!?
@19
it's called an opinion, you have one, i have one, we all have one

This is a thread focusing on the vs series for the most part. The whole damn series is built around lax inputs and to be as simple as possible to let the focus be on the crazy combos you can create.. How are the inputs in vanilla and ultimate any easier than mvc1 and others.
Comeback mechanics get far too much negative attention too, as if it makes it easier for a loser to win over a better player. Both players get access to the exact same tools within a round or match. A better player gets access to x-factor just like a lesser player. A valid complaint would be if you think x-factor or an ultra is too powerful, but the only people that complain about a comeback mechanic for what it is, are people that brainlessly go for broke on offense without watching out for a powerful counter.
Just more proof that Capcom could give a damn about a Darkstalkers fan. Well f**k you too Capcom! SNKP, ASW, and Namco know how to treat fans and they make fighters, too. I dont even have to touch your crappy games to play a solid fighter, in todays market.
@25
play it. I have most of them on mame and ill tell u right now ur not gonna mash out a combo like mvc3 in any of them. Chain combos are different in those games.
@14
the truth hurts doesnt it. wait till sfxtekken, that game is gonna be the turning point. Thats gonna be the game that either fails and turns capcom back to the basics or its gonna be the begining of sfxsmash bros
Hmmmn, rereleases of older games. After playing SF 3SO. I'm definitely not going to purchase any of them.
Others can have fun and buy them if they want, but I skip those. I still have my older consoles, and just wanted to experiment with 3SO to see how they would improve it, they didn't to me.
